"Eh? You've finished it?" Mira asked in surprise.

"That was fast." Edolas Ben said.

"Well, I've read a lot of books about magic and learned a lot about Black Magic. Although I never use it and it will be better if we ask Bickslow to do it, we don't have time for it. He is inside that giant lacrima and we will need to release everyone for it. That will cause chaos, so we can't do that." Ben said.

"So, who will use it? I never use Black Magic either." Mira asked.

"I will use it, of course. Even though I never use Black Magic, I know about it down to the finest detail. That's why I'm sure I can pull it off. What I need right now is to try it out. Let's find some animals for the experiments." Ben said.

The others nod and they leave the capital stealthily. They go to the forest near the capital and immediately catch some small animals. It was very easy for them because these were normal creatures, not magical beasts.

The sky almost turns dark, so Ben needed to be fast now. He immediately tried normal Seith Magic first and caught a dead soul before inserting it in a woodblock. He succeeded on his first try and kept succeeding after trying it 10 times.

"This is easier than I thought. Maybe I have a good affinity with souls." Ben said.

After getting a grasp on Seith Magic, Ben starts his test on his new spell. He grabbed a black rabbit and put his hand on it's head.

"Soul Extractor!"

A black aura suddenly covered the black rabbit and Ben can feel something sticking onto his hand. He pulls his hand off the rabbit's head and a transparent object is sticking on his hand. It's the rabbit's soul. But then the soul was released and returned to the rabbit's body.

"Failure, huh? It seems the attachment of a living soul with it's body is very strong. Hmm, either I need to strengthen the spell or weaken the host. Let's try the latter because it's easier to do." Ben noted.

Ben put the rabbit to sleep with a Sleep Spell before repeating his attempt. Now, it was easier for him to pull the soul out and he was finally successful. He tried it a few more times with the other animals and kept succeeding when the animals were asleep.

"How is it?" Edolas Ben asked him.

"This will work. We just need to put Lisanna to sleep before using this spell on her. But to make sure this won't fail, I will strengthen the spell and then we'll test it on a human." Ben said.

"Human?!" Mira exclaimed in shock.

"Don't worry, we will use a criminal who has committed serious crimes, so we won't need to feel sorry about it. Edolas Ben knows a few people with that criteria." Ben said followed by a nod from Edolas Ben.

"Do we really need to test it on a human?" Mira asked with a sad tone.

"Yeah, animal and human souls are different, so I need to test it on a human." Ben responded.

"But what if he dies? Even if he is a bad person, Lisanna will be sad if someone needs to die for her to live." Mira said sadly.

"He won't die, I can guarantee that, so don't worry. The rabbit didn't die when I failed. Also, if this spell fails, do you want it to happen to Lisanna or a bad guy?" Ben asked seriously.

"That's..." Mira was unable to answer that question.

"Mira, if you think that Lisanna won't like it just keep it a secret from her. If she finds out about it in the future, tell her it was my idea." Ben said while patting her head.

"Count me in too, this is our idea. Also Mira, you shouldn't underestimate Lisanna. I don't know much about Earthland Lisanna before she arrived here, but the Lisanna I've known for the last 2 years is a strong-willed girl. She won't be depressed just because of this." Edolas Ben added.

Mira's eyes widened and she realized that she is being overprotective. She still thought it was her fault Lisanna was injured and couldn't wake up to this day. That made her think Lisanna was fragile and needed her protection.

"I'm sorry. I keep viewing Lisanna as a little girl and underestimate her." Mira apologized.

"It's okay. I know how you feel because that's how I was with Wendy. But you known, if we keep guiding them and protecting them, they will never grow. We just need to guide and protect them when they need it, that's also a way to show our love for them. Sometimes letting them get hurt is important." Ben reassured her.

"That's rather confusing, but I think I get what you're trying to say. Alright, let's do it." Mira said.

The group then goes to the capital again. It was dark now so they could move without being detected. The only problem is they can't find the prison easily because their guide is Edolas Ben, who has a poor sense of direction.

Fortunately with the help of the 3 Exceed Rangers, they found the prison in a half hour. They put the guards to sleep before looking for their target inside. After looking for a few minutes, they finally find their target.

Their target was in an isolated cell and was covered in a lot of chains. He is a man with fair skin and long dark green hair. This man looks rather handsome, but he had a crazy expression that displayed his blood lust.

"This man's name is Dennis. He was a captain of the Royal Army over a decade ago. He's a very strong man." Edolas Ben said.

"What would cause a captain of the Royal Army to be imprisoned?" Ben asked.

"Because he killed numerous citizens for fun. His kind image was just a facade to hide his real self. It's quite complicated, so I won't go into detail. But this man is one of the worst criminals in the kingdom. He didn't receive the death penalty because he was a captain in the Royal Army. That's something I can't accept." Edolas Ben said.

"So you want to execute him yourself, huh? Well whatever, it's your business. I just want to use him to test my new magic." Ben said.

Ben and Edolas Ben enter the cell while the others wait outside. Dennis wanted to attack them but the chains prevented him from moving.

"It seems he is not sane. Well, no one would be sane after being chained up like this for over 10 years. Anyway let's start with the first test." Ben said as he grabbed Dennis' head.

"You won't put him to sleep first?" Edolas Ben asked.

"No. I want to see if this will work on someone who's conscious first. I've improved the spell so maybe it will work." Ben replied.

Ben activated the spell and pulled Dennis' soul out of his body. He thought it would fail, but surprisingly it was successful. Dennis' soul gets pulled while he was still conscious. Ben put his soul in a block of wood and then checked his body.

"His body is fine. Ha ha, the spell is working. It seems this spell is better suited for humans than animals. But a single test isn't enough. I need more data. Edolas me, are all the people in these isolated cells dangerous criminals?" Ben asked.

"Yeah, they've committed crimes punishable by death. I hate to admit this, but the judgments the kingdom handed down to them are correct." Edolas Ben said.

Ben nodded and put Dennis' soul back in his body before conducting more tests on other people. While Ben conducted his test, Edolas Ben killed Dennis with a stab of his double-bladed spear.

"Dad, mom, I've avenged you." Edolas Ben said as he wiped the blood off his spear head.

With his sharp ears, Ben can hear what Edolas Ben said even though it was just a whisper. 'So Dennis killed his parents, huh? This reminds me of my past life. I'm glad you got your revenge, Edolas me.'

"Alright the tests are complete. Now, let's help Lisanna and return to Earthland." Ben said.
