After Wendy and the cats defeated the enemies that came to their camp, Erza appeared with Elfman and Evergreen. They came here after defeating Rustyrose. Evergreen was still unconscious so Elfman carried her even though he was also in bad shape.
Erza asked Wendy to treat them and she did so immediately. With Erza there, there was no need to worry about the enemies anymore. So Wendy can treat the people that were injured while Erza guarded the area.
"I can see that you defeated those guys." Erza said as she looked at the defeated lesser members of Grimoire Heart.
"That was actually Wendy and the Exceeds." Ryu corrected her.
"They were good. Sorry, Erza. But can you help me tie them up in one place?" Ben's clone added, before asking.
Erza nodded and they start to gather the defeated dark mages then tie them up in one place. Then Ben's clone teleported them to the coast near their airship. Another clone had destroyed a large portion of the airship, so he wasn't worried they'll be able to fight back with it.
After Evergreen woke up and Elfman recovered, they move to meet up with the others. Ben's clones always contact each other so they know a lot about what's going on. The group will meet up with the ones that won their battles that Ben's clones knew about.
There were only five clones watching over the battles. They couldn't watch over everyone on the island so there are some battles they probably don't know are going on. An example would be Freed and Bickslow vs Kain.
Currently, there was another battle they couldn't watch. It was Gray vs Ultear. Well, Ben's clone teleported them away while he stayed there to guard Wendy and the cats. Now they are battling on a empty plot of land near the coast.
Their battle had gone on for a while now and Gray was at a disadvantage. His Ice-Make Magic was useless against Ultear's Arc of Time. Her magic can transform his ice into water or nothing by reverting it's time.
So now Gray relied on close combat because Ultear's magic can't affect living beings or their body parts. But Ultear can use her magic on the surrounding area like the ground, rocks and trees. She can revert or forward the time of these objects to create a different effect.
Gray was now in a pinch but he still talked about Ur with Ultear. He said that Ur loved Ultear and how she was sad when she lost her daughter. But Ultear wasn't convinced because what she knows is different from what Gray knows and that's why she hates her mother.
After a while, Gray finally realized what the weakness of Ultear's magic is. So he created a sharp ice shard and slashed himself on the side of his chest so blood flowed out of the wound. Then he froze the blood to create a pair of sharp ice weapons on his arms and attacks Ultear with them.
Ultear tried to use her magic on the ice but it failed because it contained Gray's blood, so her magic wouldn't affect it. Now the battle started to turn around in Gray's favor. Seeing his tenacity, Ultear finally used different magic.
She used Ice-Make Magic and successfully attacked Gray with it. Gray then commented how her magic is similar to Ur's magic, making her angry. So she created another attack but Gray retaliated and tackled her.
His tackle caused the two to fall on a slope so they roll down. They keep fighting while arguing with each other as they roll on the ground. Finally, both of them fall into the water below after rolling down the slope.
When she enters the water, Ultear recalled a childhood memory. She was being tested in a lab when she was a kid because of her strong magic power. But then she escaped and returned to her mother only to find Ur living happily with two boys, Gray and Lyon.
That made Ultear think her mother had abandoned her. So she returned to the facility to gain power to seek revenge on her mother. Then Hades found her and taught her Lost Magic, Arc of Time.
Recalling her memories made Ultear angry so she started attacking Gray with Ice-Make Magic again. Both of them continue their fight underwater using their Ice-Make Magic.
Suddenly, another memory appeared in her mind, but it wasn't hers, it was Ur's memory. She saw her mother crying while holding little Ultear who has a high fever. Ur asked for help from the people in the facility.
When Ur returned after some time, the people at the facility told her that Ultear had died. Ur was devastated and demanded to take her daughter's corpse with her but they didn't allow her to do that. Ur lived alone until she gained two disciples.
After seeing the memory Ultear started to break down because it wasn't the same thing she remembered. She finally realized they were Ur's memories after remembering Ur's body that had turned into ice melted and merged with the sea.
Gray used this chance while Ultear was distracted and attacked her with Ice-Make: Gungnir. When she snapped back to reality, it was already too late. Ice forms from below her and encased her as she was pushed upward, defeated.
Then Gray started to tell her the story Ur shared with him and Lyon. It's the story about Ultear's birth and how Ur was so happy that she cried. That's why Ur gave her the name Ultear which means Ur's tear.
Ultear seemed to understand that everything she knew wasn't the truth. She finally stopped resisting and Gray shattered the ice that encased her. Then he brought her ashore and left, but then he lost his strength and almost fell.
But someone caught his hand. It was Ben who had just recovered from his fight with Hades. His clone teleported Gray and Ultear near the location of Ben's battle and informed Ben about it so he could help Gray if he had a hard time.
Ben changed his clothes because the ones he wore before were tattered. His muscles are still quite sore but that was fine. He always trained himself to his limit and sore muscles are a common occurrence.
"Good job Gray." Ben said.
"Are you a clone?" He asked.
"Am I?" Ben questioned back with a smirk.
"So you're the real one, huh? Thanks for your help." Gray said.
"Don't worry about it. We are guild mates, so we help each other out. You've also lost some blood when using your magic before, right? Just rest, I'll take you back to camp. With this the Seven Kin of Purgatory should have been defeated. Now the only one remaining is that Bluenote guy." Ben said as he helped Gray walk.
"Just one? What about Hades?" Gray asked.
"Hades, huh? It seems he's not in good shape because I found him lying on the ground. It must be because of his old age. One simply can't go against time." Ben said with a smirk.
"Heh, is that so?" Gray asked with a smirk.
Gray knew right away that Ben defeated Hades. He can see signs of a battle on Ben's body even though he had a new outfit on. Gray was amazed because based off what he heard, Hades was the strongest member of Grimoire Heart.
As they walk back to meet up with their guild mates, Ben suddenly stopped with a shocked expression on his face. One of his clones that went with Lucy and Cana just informed him that Cana had disappeared, leaving a sleeping Lucy in the enchantment that his clone made.
"What? Then is she in danger?" Gray asked with a concerned tone.
"I don't know. The enchantment only allows Lucy and Cana to leave it freely. That means Cana came out of it by herself, but I have no idea why. Let's go there first and check the situation out." Ben said before he and Gray teleport away from their spot.
