A/N: For my next and final one-shot for May 2022, I decided to revisit an old AU to show a couple of pairings that have been one of the sole reasons why I want to make it a full fic.

But with that being said, I hope you enjoy!

Another History: Confrontation

It was a calm summer day in Tokyo. With Carol and her Alchemic Cult having been dealt with weeks ago, life went back to normal for S.O.N.G. and their Wielders. However, while everyone else was having fun, enjoying summer to the best of their ability, one Tsubasa Kazanari found herself where she has ever since she was allowed to stop reliving her old life as an idol: Training herself until she couldn't fight anymore.

She's been invited to hang out with Maria, Kirika, and Shirabe multiple times, but she declined their offers under the pretense that she had something she needed to do. At first, everyone figured she was hanging out with Chris and Hibiki, but eventually everyone would learn that even they were essentially given the cold shoulder by their own teammate.

But today, instead of being left to her own devices, someone came to the training room other than Tsubasa: Miku Kohinata, Wielder of The Shénshòujìng Symphogear. She entered the room, looking around for someone, until she saw Tsubasa sitting on the ground, breathing heavily as she always did after training. "Um... Hello, Tsubasa-san." Miku says.

Tsubasa looks over at Miku before going back to staring at the floor as she had. "Hello, Kohinata." She replies. "What do you want?"

"A-Actually, I'm looking for Hibiki and Chris." Miku answers. "They said they were just finishing up in the training room and that they should be ready to go by the time I got here. Have you seen them?"

"Can't say I have." Tsubasa says. "But I don't recall seeing them here. They're probably in the showers."

"I see..." Miku replies. "Well, then I guess I'll let them know I'm here and wait for them. That is, if you don't mind..."

Tsubasa was silent for a moment, but sighed. "...I couldn't care less."

"Oh. Okay. Thanks." Miku says, standing still while she waits for her friends. There was an awkward silence between the two of them, but Miku tried to break the ice with some small talk. "...So... How have you been?"

"...Fine."

"That's good... Good to hear..." Miku says. "...I'm sure it's nice being able to spend time with your family again, huh?"

Tsubasa grumbled before snapping her gaze over to Miku. "Is there something you want, Kohinata?" Tsubasa growls.

Miku was shocked at Tsubasa's sudden hostile tone. "Wh-What? No, I was just trying to talk with you. It's been a while since anyone has had the chance to chat with you, so I figured we could talk while I was here. After all, we're friends, right?"

Tsubasa chuckles as she gets off the ground and back onto her feet. "'Friends'? And what have I done to deserve such a title? We may be on the same side, but I know for a fact that you would have no problem killing me the second our paths differ."

"What are you talking about, Tsubasa-san?" Miku asks. "Even back then, the last thing I wanted to do was kill anyone, let alone you."

"Don't feed me that lie, Kohinata!" Tsubasa shouts. "I can believe that you have no ill-will towards Tachibana or Yukine, but I know, deep down, that you want me dead because of what happened to the former."

"Why would you think that I'd hate you for what happened to Hibiki?" Miku asks.

Tsubasa laughs hysterically. "Why wouldn't you hate me for that?" She asks in return. "After all, it's my fault that it happened!"

"What?"

"Dr. Victor didn't find Tachibana and I unconscious at the last Zwei Wing concert." Tsubasa confesses. "When Kanade sacrificed herself to kill the Noise, she told me to get Tachibana somewhere safe. Back then, all she was to me was a dying body that had Kanade's Gungnir pierced through her, I didn't care for her like I did when we met at the Queens of Music concert."

"What are you trying to say, Tsubasa-san?"

"Dr. Victor promised me that he could bring Kanade back if he had Tachibana's body and the Gungnir fragments inside of it, and I was desperate enough to believe him." Tsubasa continues. "Thanks to that desperation, Tachibana paid the ultimate price. She suffers from the reality of having to live with both her identity and Kanade's all because of me!"

"No..." Miku says quietly. "You're lying. Trying to make me hate you."

"Say what you want, Kohinata, but the truth is just as ugly as the lie you and the others took with open arms." Tsubasa says. "You lost the one person you loved all thanks to me."

"Shut up!" Miku shouts, before realizing what she had said, quickly covering her mouth in shock.

"And there it is. There's the truth you've been desperately trying to hide from me, out in the open." Tsubasa says with a smirk on her face. "Only one thing left to do now..."

Imyuteus Ame no Habakiri tron

Tsubasa transforms into the Ame no Habakiri Symphogear, which shocks Miku. "Tsubasa-san... I'm not going to fight you..." Miku says. "That's not what I want."

"Who said we were going to fight?" Tsubasa chuckles as she tosses her sword towards Miku's feet. "I want you to take your revenge, right now."

"But..."

"DO IT!" Tsubasa interjects Miku's plea. "It's the only right way for me to reap what I have sown: By having my life taken by the woman I've wronged the hardest."

Miku went silent, staring at Tsubasa's blade on the ground. After a while, She picked up the blade, but her gaze did not leave the ground. "That's right, Kohinata. Take my blade in your hands... And get your vengeance!"

Miku stared straight at Tsubasa, held the blade with both of her hands, and charged at Tsubasa with a massive shout. "Tsubasa!"

Tsubasa held her arms out and closed her eyes. She knew what was coming next, and she didn't need to see it... "This is exactly what I deserve... I'm sorry, Kanade..."

Suddenly, the sound of the blade hitting the floor rang out throughout the training room, which confused Tsubasa. Wondering what happened, she opened her eyes and saw Miku, without Ame no Habakiri in her hands, sprinting towards her. Before she could react, however, Miku tackled Tsubasa to the ground. "Gah! K-Kohinata! What are you doing!"

Once Tsubasa was knocked over, Miku held Tsubasa tightly as tears began to stream down her face. "I forgive you..." She says through choked breaths.

"What?"

"You may be right that I have every reason to hate you or want you dead for how Hibiki ended up, but the person responsible for that result has already been dealt with." Miku continues. "Besides, it's my fault that Hibiki is how she is now, too."

Tsubasa was confused. "What do you mean?"

"Hibiki only went to your last Zwei Wing concert because I invited her, but I had something come up on my end and I was unable to go." Miku explains. "So it's thanks to me that Hibiki was put into the position she was in. If anyone deserves to be punished for how she ended up, it's me."

"Kohinata..."

"Sure, I'm upset that Hibiki doesn't share the feelings that I feel for them, but she's happy with Chris. And as far as I'm concerned, as long as she's happy, then that's all I need to know to keep on living." Miku continues. "So, please, stop being so hard on yourself. If not for your sake, then do it for mine."

Hearing this, it was now Tsubasa's turn to cry as she let out several years of hidden tears. The whole time, Miku hugged Tsubasa tightly, letting the fallen-from-grace idol cry for as long as she needed. Eventually, Tsubasa's tears turned into faint sobs, then sniffles, then she finally hugged Miku in return. "Thank you, Miku." Tsubasa says. "I don't know how I can ever repay your forgiveness. Or even if I can do such a thing."

"Well, calling me by my first name is definitely a start. Hehe." Miku chuckles as the two of them sit in the training room, going from what was once awkward tension to now comfort in one another's arms. However, Miku became startled when she was suddenly sent falling to the ground, dragged down by the now unconscious Tsubasa. She chuckled again once the shock wore off. "She's asleep? Well, I can't say that she hasn't looked absolutely tired when she's been working herself to death these last few weeks. Not to mention... With how intense things got... It sure was tiring..."

Miku proceeded to let out a yawn before joining Tsubasa in her nap on the training room floor. After all, while Tsubasa may have been out cold, she was still tight in her embrace of Miku, and the latter was not about to disturb Tsubasa's well-deserved moment of peace...

Meanwhile, having planned for Miku and Tsubasa to meet like this, Chris and Kanade watched as the two girls slept peacefully on the floor. "Good grief... That was close." Chris sighs.

"You can say that again..." Kanade adds. "I was about to run in there and knock that sword out of Miku-chan's hands if she didn't throw it away when she did."

"You say that like she had every intention to kill Senpai." Chris chuckles.

"I mean, dark as it may seem, I also had worries that Hibiki's rejection of Miku-chan's feelings would've led to her blaming Tsubasa for all of this."

"Huh... I guess the thought never occurred to me..." Chris admits. "But hey, the best case scenario happened, so now we can breathe easily. Who knows, maybe those two will hook up instead of chasin' their old girlfriends..."

"Ahem."

"Wh-What I meant to say was, that, maybe they'll move on, y'know?" Chris says nervously, which only makes Kanade's eyebrow raise higher. "I didn't mean anything rude by it! I just know that it was making you and Hibiki uncomfortable for both of them to try and only love one of you and not the other and-

Kanade bursts with laughter. "Oh calm down, Chris! I'm just messin' with ya!" Kanade says. "Besides, we agree with your idea. And looking at how they are now, it'd be stupid for them to not have any feelings towards one another."

Kanade and Chris stared at the sleeping duo again and smiled. "Well... I don't know about you, but watching that whole thing go down has really worked up an appetite." Chris says. "What say we go and get ourselves some okonomiyaki? My treat."

"That sounds like an amazing idea, Chris-chan!" Hibiki says. "But, what about Miku? Weren't we gonna invite her with us?"

"I dunno, Hibiki. Something tells me that Miku's got other plans that just came up." Chris answers, pointing towards the sleeping pair of girls on the ground.

"Oh... Right. My bad." Hibiki chuckles.

And so, with Miku having calmed down Tsubasa, the still awake duo quietly snuck away from the training room and went to Flower for some of the shop owner's iconic okonomiyaki. And from that day on, as far as the remainder of the summer was concerned. Tsubasa spent less time in the training room and more time with the people who cared about her... Especially Miku.

A/N: And with that, we end the one-shot!

As I mentioned, this is a story based in the world of the AU I created months ago where the Wielders were on opposite sides for G. (Hibiki, Tsubasa, and Chris as the terrorists and Maria, Kirika, and Shirabe as the Section Two Wielders featuring Miku.)

For a while now, I've been considering working on this as its own fic between chapters of my three current major fics. (More info on that in my most recent chapter of Superb Song of the Fate-Defying Valkyrie.) So, I decided to go ahead and make an excerpt of the events of a chapter that'll take place between GX and AXZ for this AU. As for everything before and after that scene? That'll be a story for another time.

But anyway, thank you so much for reading this one-shot. I shall see you all in the next one!
