Laxus was excited when his name was called to fight in the battle round.
"Finally, I'm starting to get impatient." He said before entering the arena to face Orga.
"Didn't Orga already fight on the first day?" Mira asked, confused.
"Well, there's no rule that forbids him from fighting again. Also, the selection of fighters is entirely on the sponsors and organizer. They must've wanted to see our guild go up against Sabertooth after what happened last night. And coincidentally, we have a Lightning Dragon and God Slayer mage. They must've thought it will be interesting." Ben said.
"Heh, a dragon versus a god, huh? This will be rough for Laxus." Cana chuckled.
"Yeah, the tier of their magic is different. Natsu went up against a Fire God Slayer and his magic was completely useless against it. His fire could only injure his opponent after he consumed the flame from the Fire God Slayer Magic, but he needed to empty his magic power first. Does Laxus need to use that method too?" Freed asked.
"That's certainly a method we know. But I don't think Laxus will resort to it right away. He will try to use everything he has first and will only rely on that as a last resort. Besides, Laxus' magic power is far higher than Natsu's at that time. Emptying it will cause a backlash." Ben told him.
"Let's just watch the battle to see how he'll solve this problem. Laxus will certainly find a way." Mira said.
They stop talking because the battle is about to start. Laxus and Orga were eager to go up against each other because their magic is similar. In terms of magic tier, Laxus' Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic is lower than Orga's Lightning God Slayer Magic, but he doesn't care. He just wanted to fight a strong opponent.
"Lightning God Slayer, huh? Let's see how strong he is." Laxus said with a smile.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a big lightning bolt fell from the sky and hit Orga. A massive crater was created by that attack and dust flew everywhere. The crowd is shocked, but they were surprised when they saw Orga standing there without any sign of damage.
"Damn, no damage, huh? This will be troublesome." Laxus muttered.
"That was good, too bad it was used against me. Other people will be fried instantly by that lightning. Then it's my turn now, right?" Orga asked while extending his hands forward.
Black lightning bolts appear between his hands and his magic power is concentrated. Then, a beam of yellow and black lightning is fired towards Laxus. It was the same attack Orga used during the MPF, so it's a strong spell.
There was a big explosion and Laxus was engulfed by it. Another big crater appeared and dust flew everywhere again. Much to the surprise of the crowd and Orga, Laxus stood there without any damage.
Freed seemed happy about it. "I expected no less from Laxus. God Slayer or not, lightning doesn't affect him."
"No it affected him and he knew it. He didn't seem to be affected because he covered his entire body in lightning. His lightning prevented Orga's lightning from damaging his body." Ben countered.
"Then how will Laxus attack? His magic can't damage his opponent and he needs to use even more magic for defense." Cana asked.
"The answer is easy." Ben replied with a grin.
The others are confused, but they soon get the answer. Laxus suddenly transformed into lightning and flashed towards Orga at a extremely high speed. Orga was surprised by Laxus' speed and wasn't ready for what came next.
Laxus punched Orga in the face and sent him flying into the wall. Team Sabertooth is surprised because Orga is one of their strongest members. They believe he is fine though because he is very tough.
They aren't completely wrong because he can still stand. But he isn't completely fine as blood came from his mouth. It surprised most people because Laxus' lightning shouldn't be able to affect Orga.
Ben just smirked after seeing it before explaining it to his guild mates. Ben told them that Laxus didn't use his lightning to attack his opponent. He used his lightning to increase his speed and strength significantly.
"The lightning wasn't the main attack, that's just the effect of him using his magic. His main attack was his enhanced punch which was a lot stronger because of his lightning. That's the reason he could injure Orga because that was primarily a physical attack." Ben explained.
The mages then nod in understanding with impressed expressions.
"Then why couldn't I damage that black fire guy with my punches and kicks?" Natsu asked.
"Hmm, if you really landed punches and kicks but still couldn't injure him, then there's a simple answer, you were weak." Ben answered with a smirk.
Natsu's face became dark as he fell to his knees before he got mad. This guy really showed his emotions like clear water, so Ben really liked to tease him. That's why he just said that Natsu was weak and didn't say that his opponent was very tough.
Their attention then shifted back to the battle. Orga tries to attack Laxus with the God Slayer's signature attack, Lightning God Bellow. Laxus answered it with a Dragon Slayer's signature attack, Lightning Dragon Roar.
Their attacks collide and the impact is massive. The spectators are holding onto their chairs because of the strong shock wave that was created by the collision. Ben watched the clash intensely to get more data as usual before he suddenly smirked.
Right after that, Laxus' Lightning Dragon Roar broke Orga's Lightning God Bellow and hit him. In a clash of spells, the magic tiers won't be a big problem as long as the spell's power is high. Laxus' attack was stronger than Orga's attack, bottom line.
Although the tier's advantage was displayed immediately when Orga appeared without any damage again. Laxus' attack might have broke Orga's attack, but it still couldn't break Orga's immunity to lower-tier Lightning Magic.
It will be a lot easier from now on though because Laxus is obviously stronger. Also Laxus is fast, very fast. He immediately flashed towards Orga and attacked him with his lightning-enhanced punch again.
Orga is also a lightning mage like Laxus and his magic is one tier higher. However, his mastery over his magic seems to be significantly lower than Laxus. He can't even use his lightning to increase his speed, or maybe he is just focusing on power, so his speed is lacking.
With lower speed, he became a punching bag for Laxus. Orga can't defend himself from Laxus' barrage of attacks that flew towards him at a unimaginable speed. Among the spectators, only one person can see Laxus' fast attacks, it's Ben.
He grinned as he watched Team Sabertooth develop shocked expressions. Most people assume that the only super strong mage in Fairy Tail is Ben. They've just seen Erza take out 100 monsters though, and now they were witnessing Laxus overwhelm Orga despite his lower magic tier.
"It's over." Ben said right on time before Laxus landed a finishing blow.
Laxus jumped towards Orga and threw a punch at Orga's face from a higher position. His punch sent Orga sliding to the ground and then he hit the wall. Orga was knocked unconscious and the referee announced Laxus as the winner.
Everyone cheered as Laxus walked back to his guild's stand. The medical team moved quickly to check on Orga under the disbelieving gazes of Sabertooth. Then they remember Ben's words last night about showing the power of a real guild which causes them to clench their hands.
"How was it?" Ben asked Laxus.
"That is interesting magic, but there seems to be restrictions too. I found some things that can help me improve my magic though." Laxus said. He was also observing Orga's magic to improve his own magic.
"Good. I would've beaten you up if you got nothing after prolonging your fight for this long." Ben said with a smirk.
"But it's you who always said that I need to use all my battles to learn." Laxus said. This was ignored by Ben as the last battle was finally announced. Wendy finally got a chance to compete as she will take on Sherria from Lamia Scale.
