Sleeping with him might have been something easier than what he asked.

"Are— are you alright?" I asked, grunting as I tried to get up only for my hand to slip and fall face first onto his crotch.

Holy shit, I felt like I got hit with an iron bat in the face! That had better been a weapon, because if not, I would lose my shit.

I quickly snapped up and crab walked, until my back hit the bed, avoiding his gaze. His laughter caused me to jump as he laid there on the ground, clutching at his sides.

His laughter was infectious, and soon I started laughing with him.

"Oh god. Kill me now…" I groaned, biting my lip as I covered my face with my hands.

I could hear him chuckling every once in a while. Causing my face to flush as I bent my knees and pulled them towards my chest.

"Don't be embarrassed, dolcezza, we all have our clumsy moments. Now, as I said before, you don't need to do anything you don't want to do. But I would be grateful you did this for me." He said.

I nodded, shaking my head and taking a deep breath.

"Edward, I need a better explanation than what you gave me." I quietly said.

"I thought my intentions were pretty clear for you." He murmured dryly.

"Saying, 'I need you to pretend to be my wife.' isn't a fucking explanation, Edward." I retorted.

He chuckled again as he sat up, before sighing again. "Alright. alright. " He finally said.

I humphed, shaking my head at him when he didn't elaborate further on the subject. "Still not explaining." I mumbled annoyed.

"Give me a moment. I'm trying to think of how to word the explanation in English." He quipped bacl a moment, as his cheek dimpled again.

I rolled my eyes so hard I saw the back of my head, as I tried to stand up.

"Alright. I got it." He whispered, nodding to himself as I walked around the room, taking it in.

"I'm listening." I mumbled, moving around him as I did.

I walked in awe as I saw the white crown molding that was around the room. It complimented the toffee colored walls.

The room was amazing, now that I had a chance to really take it in.

Though of course, if one is kidnapped, one doesn't really notice where they are, especially if the kidnapper is in the room with them.

He caught my attention again by groaning, and slapping a hand over his face and rubbing it roughly, before he stood up and turned to watch me.

"Alright, well, my family and I are in charge of a large organization… over the past decade or so, things have gotten worse, our rivals unfortunately have gotten brazen, coming here to threaten us. While we usually take to handling things out of the public eye, they've taken to handling means of business very publicly. Meaning they're trying to force our hands… As if that's not enough. One of the heads of the organization's daughter is getting married soon. Everyone is invited to the wedding. Meaning they will be there." He explained.

"Right, so, what does that have to do with me?" I asked, pulling my hair away from my face.

"That dolcezza is where you come in." He said.

"Explain." I sighed, turning to look at him as I leaned against the wall facing him.

"That's where I need you to pretend to be my wife." He finally said.

"Why though? How is that going to help you?" I asked, suspiciously.

"By you pretending to be my wife, we can pretend we're in love in front of everyone. You know, pretend we're happily married, and can't keep our hands off each other, maybe get lost for a while… do a little snooping and go back to the party like nothing happened." He explained.

Wait… did he seriously just—

"That seems too simple. What else do you need from me?" I asked.

"It's not one event. There's multiple. Over the next few weeks, in fact. I'll need you to attend as my wife. For all of them." He finally said.

Chewing on my lip, I debated my options.

This could play out in so many ways. Complicating things for me.

I could afford to hire a private investigator here, but something tells me, I won't. Not if my dad's family is who I think they are. Especially if my dad went to lengths to hide us from them.

I had to know, losing the possibility was not something I was about to do. I needed to know, even if it meant that my old life would burn before my eyes. I simply had to, I won't be able to move on if I don't.

Coming to this conclusion, I let out a huff.

"If I agree to do this, you said you'd help me find my dad's family, right?" I asked him, unsure.

"Of course, I will. You have my word. I will help you find your family. Now, will you help me?" He asked, gently.

I frowned, looking around to try to gather my thoughts before looking back at him.

"How dangerous is this going to be?" I asked him.

He looked at me, chewing on his lower lip for a moment before releasing it and licking over it enticingly. "Honestly?" He asked with a careful smile.

I nodded in response, before swallowing thickly, as I clenched my hands under my arms as I did.

"It will be very dangerous, not just for you, but for me as well." He answered honestly.

Great! I knew it!

"How so? You can't find another way to do this?" I inquired before turning to stare out the window.

"My brothers and I have actually looked into this, through all possible options… any scenario. None of them has the proper skill to go besides me. If I go alone it'll be too suspicious, that's why I am asking you for your presence at the event." He explained.

Great so, I happen to be the one who just lucked out, and get picked?

Was this some sort of sick joke?

I looked at him, unblinkingly, no expression on my face as he anxiously awaited my response.

I wasn't going to get out of this was I?

In that moment a conversation that I had with Alice last week. She teased me about what rotten luck I've always had, stating that my luck always gets me into awkward situations.

And judging by the situation at hand she was correct.

Damn you, Alice!

Wishing so badly to back out, but something inside me told me this was the only way I would find the answers I needed.

I had to know.

After debating for a few more seconds I looked up at him, and decided to reply.

"Okay, fine. I'm in…" I replied, determined.

He sighed in relief, "Great, you won't regret this, dolcezza." he promised.

"H—hold on there big guy, I have a few conditions first." I replied smirking at his response.

Alright, don't kill me.
But this will be the last review until sometime next week.

Hope you all are staying safe out there!

Make good choices, see ya soon.
