The group continues to look in front of them as the walkers' groans become louder by the second.
"Hey T-Dog. Try the walkie and contact the others."
"Others? Like the Refugee Center?" Santana says, hopeful.
"Yeah, they are currently baking some cookies for us." Santana looks up at an older brunette, confused. "Are you an idiot? The Refugee Center was one of the firsts to fall."
"I got no signal. Maybe the roof?" T-Dog says
BANG!
"Damn it, is that Dixon? What the hell is he doing?" Andrea says annoyed
BANG!
The group started frantically running up the stairwell to the rooftop to see what was going on. Morales was the one to lead the group up to the roof. He opened the door and saw Dixon shooting from his sniper.
"Hey Dixon, are you crazy?!" Morales says as Merle Dixon begins to laugh.
"Heyy, you gotta be more polite to the man holding a gun, huh? It's common sense."
"Man you wasting bullets, we ain't even got. Just chill." T-Dog says as he approaches Merle.
"You think imma take orders from you. Nah man I don't think so." Merle says as he sucker punches T-Dog in the face.
A whole fight breaks loose as Merle continues to beat up T-Dog. Santana attempts to get a hold of a chaotic Merle but is greeted with a punch by him instead, which knocks her to the ground. Merle gets on top of T-Dog and continues to punch him brutally.
"Stop it Merle! You're hurting him." Andrea shouts as Merle pulls out a gun and points it at T-Dog.
"Yeahhh. Alright. We are gonna talk about who's in charge." T-Dog groans in pain as his face starts to swell up. Merle begins to stand up and continues to point the gun at the others. "I vote me. Anybody else? Here let's take a vote. All in favor?"
"Yeah, me." Merle turns around at the voice and gets hit in the face by Santana, knocking him to the ground. Santana proceeds to kneel on top of him and handcuffs him to a metal bar. She grabs the collar of his shirt and raises it up to her face.
"Who the hell are you?" Santana smirks at Merle's question.
"Officer Friendly. Look here Merle. Things are different now. There's us and the dead. We survive this by coming together, not apart."
"Screw you, man."
"I can tell you make it a habit of easily missing the point."
"Yeah? Well screw you twice."
"You should start to be more polite to the woman with a gun." Santana says as she pulls out a gun and points it to the side of his head. "It's only common sense." The rest of the group looks shocked at Santana and how she took down Merle.
"You wouldn't. You're a cop."
"All I am anymore is a woman looking for her wife and son. Anybody that gets in the way of that is gonna lose. I'll give you a moment to think and process that in that little pea-sized brain of yours."
Santana gets up and starts holding and massaging her right wrist with her back turned to the others. Morales makes his way to Santana and sees her wincing in pain. "You're not from here, are you?" Santana shakes her head.
"I'm a couple hours away from the city." She answers.
"Well Officer Friendly, we got meds at our base that can take care of that for you. But first we need a way to get out of here." Morales says as he and Santana look at what was once the Big Apple, now infested with walkers.
After a couple of minutes of strategic planning, Morales and Santana have come up with a plan to escape the city. The two go and rejoin the rest of the group, who were attending to T-Dog's injuries, to tell them the new plan.
"Are you crazy? How the hell are we going to get past them?" Andrea asks
"Well, we haven't thought that far, we just need a distraction." Santana states as she looks at the group. "Wait. Walkers can sense noise and smell, right? That's how they know someone is there. What if-" The group nods in approval
"We blend in." Glenn says, finishing Santana's sentence. "They wouldn't smell us and we can sneak our way in, if you don't draw any attention to ourselves."
"What about our stuff? We can't carry this by hand and avoid attention." Andrea says as she lifts duffle bags full of goodies.
"Andrea's right." T-Dog says. "We need some sort of vehicle." He looks at the abandoned city and says, "There! That supply truck, if you can get through the walkers and make it there, you can drive it back to us and we can head home."
"Nice thinking T-Dog! Well that's the plan. So me and… Glenn? You should come with me. You know your way around the city, I'd feel a lot better if you'd come with me in case it all goes south."
"You got it. T-Dog. Morales. Go and find more walkers plus the ones we already got, we need to make sure we smell like them." Glenn says as the other two nod and heads out the doors.
"I'm gonna stay up here with Jacki and try to reach the others. Just to let them know we're okay." Andrea says.
"Sounds good." Santana says as she nods.
"It's late. They should've been back by now." Andrea's little sister, Amy, said
"Worrying won't make it better." An older man says.
The younger blonde looks at the older man angrily as if he doesn't care about the group's whereabouts.
"Atta boy. And 3, 2, 1. Pull it." Quinn looks from a distance at Finn, teaching Lucas to tie a knot. "Make a "P." Other way, around your finger. There ya go."
Quinn starts to smile at Lucas and how he has grown into a remarkable young man. She was thankful for Finn and all the things he had taught Lucas. She looks at her son until she feels two unknown hands on her hips. She slightly jumps, quickly turns around, and sees Puckerman with his gassy infant smile.
"Hey there Gorgeous. Whatcha up to?"
"You scared the crap out of me, Puck. Don't do that."
"Okay Okay. I'm sorry Q. Forgive me?" Puck leans in for a kiss and connects his lips with the blonde's. Puck and Quinn had been together for a few weeks. Although Quinn hadn't felt much for him, she did like feeling loved. It was a feeling she's been missing for months.
"Hello? Base Camp. Can anybody out there hear me?" A static voice rumbles from a small box on the RV. Finn stands up and makes his way towards the radio, leaving Lucas alone. Quinn walks towards Lucas and grabs his hand as the two make their way towards the group as Puck follows closely behind.
"Hello? Hello? Reception is bad out here." the old man says to the mic. "Where are you?"
"Finn? Is that you?" Andrea responds. "-we're trapped… the department store. Walkers everywhere."
"She say they're trapped? Dale?" Finn says as he holds his neck.
"Andrea, repeat that last. Andrea?" Dale says to the mic but receives silence on the other end. The group looks at each other in fear for the safety of the other members.
"She said the department store." Quinn speaks up.
"I heard it too." Dale responds.
"No way. We can't go after them. We can't risk more." Finn says sadly.
"So we're just gonna leave her there."
"Amy, I know this isn't easy but-"
"She volunteered to go. She's my sister, you son of a bitch." Amy starts to storm out as Quinn follows her to comfort her.
Santana and Glenn, now wearing scientist coats, help Morales and T-Dog bring in the four walker bodies. Glenn hands Santana an ax as she prepares to butcher the walkers. She lifts up the ax with all of her momentum and stops. She gently places the ax on the floor and her face shield. Santana kneels on the floor and begins to search the walker's pockets and pulls out a wallet. She searches for an ID-
"William Carson. New York License. Born June 1982. He had 35 dollars in his wallet before he died. He used to be like us. Worrying about rent, bill, love, the superbowl. If I ever find my family, I'm gonna tell them about William." Santana gets up and puts on her face shield again and picks up the ax-
"One more thing. He was an organ donor." Glenn stops Santana for a couple of seconds until she lands the hit. She continues to chop the walker into pieces before moving on to the next one. As she finished, Morales and T-Dog began to spread blood and pieces of organs on Glenn and Santana's coats.
After they were covered in guts, the two started their journey through the maze of walkers. .
