Sakaki stared out of the window as she usually did. She never really knew why she did it so often. It never took her mind off of what happened at home, and she could barely think about anything else. She would occasionally tune back in to what the teacher was saying, sometimes holding her interest for a while, before staring back out the same window. Her final lessons breezed past, meaning she could go back home to pack for the weekend.
"Hey Chiyo-Chan, what would it be like to be a stuffed animal?" Osaka asked while looking at the plush Pikachu in her left hand.
"Do ya think you'd just sit there, or would it be one of them animal suits?"
"Umm, I don't really know Miss Osaka." Chiyo sheepishly said, rubbing the back of her head. Sakaki was walking with them, but didn't pay any notice to their conversation, and was caught up in her own thoughts again.
"What da you think Miss Sakaki?" Osaka asked, holding the plush up to her. For some reason, Sakaki didn't blush when she saw it, like she normally did.
"Um, I don't exactly know." She blatently said.
"Miss Osaka, wasn't that your house?" Chiyo asked, pointing back three houses.
"Oh gawsh, I got totally caught up. Goodbye Sakaki, Goodbye Chiyo-Chan!" She said, sprinting away. "I'll see you at 5 Chiyo-Chan!"
Sakaki and Chiyo waved the Osakan goodbye, forgetting that she still had that plush. They walked a short distance before they parted again.
"Goodbye Miss Sakaki, I'll see you at my house at 6!"
"6? But, Osaka was going to be there at 5..." Sakaki thought about this, but didn't speak up about it. She just waved goodbye.
She entered her house, taking off her shoes and went to her room. She fell onto her bed, her mind full of new thoughts.
"Does, Chiyo-Chan not like me? Did I do something wrong to her? Maybe...Osaka asked to be alone, with her. Maybe Osaka doesn't like me and wants to prepare herself for me. Did Chiyo-Chan want me to come, or did she do it just because Kagurua cancelled? Do...do they even like me?"
She felt anxiety washing over her. She started shaking a little, worrying more about why Osaka would be there earlier. She worked up enough energy to get up and change out of her clothes into something different, her mind still clouded with those thoughts. Beginning to pack, she started to grab her stuffed cat, but hesitated. She was split. She decided on not taking it, leaving it where it was. Still thinking about Osaka and Chiyo, she tried doing homework to take her mind off of it.
Chiyo entered her home, taking her shoes off and running up to her room. She got changed and began getting ready for her friends staying over.
"It wouldn't be fair for me to sleep on my bed and have them all on the floor...I know! We can use the futon in my other room!" She quickly ran to her other room, finding Mr. Tadakichi napping on the floor. Waking up, he walked up to Chiyo and rubbed up to her.
"Hello Mr. Tadakichi! We're having guests for the weekend, so I have to set up!"
Mr. Tadakichi helped Chiyo by opening up a cabinet and dragging out a pile of blankets. Chiyo picked these up, almost dragging them to where the futon was. She walked back and bought back three pillows. She was almost done setting up when she heard the door knock.
Kagura stood in the door frame as Chiyo opened it up. Mr. Tadakichi ran up to greet her, rubbing up against her legs.
"Miss Kagura? I thought you couldn't make it?"
"I-I can't Chiyo-Chan, but I...I need to talk to you about Sakaki. I'm worried about her..."
Chiyo let her enter the house.
"I'll go make some tea for-"
"No, Chiyo. I can't stay for long. I have to get home soon. But, can you keep an eye on her tonight? I'm...really worried about her." She started to frown and stared at the floor. Then young girl stared at her.
"Miss Kagura, do you-" she paused for a minute.
"Do you like Miss Sakaki?"
Kagura turned red.
"Wha-n-no! Of course not! I, I'm just, she's my-"
"It-it's ok! You don't have to explain! Please don't cry! I'm sorry!" Chiyo began panicking.
"It's ok, Chiyo. Just, just make sure she's ok. Please."
"Yes Miss Kagurua! I will!"
"I'm...I'm going to go now. I'll see you on Monday." Kagura left the house, leaving Chiyo alone with her dog.
