The two girls had slept with no problems. Kaorin woke up just a little earlier than 9, and peered over the side of her bed to see Sakaki still sleeping. She stared at her for a few minutes, admiring her resting face, and taking note of how she held her stuffed animal.
"She's so nice. I wish I was like her." She rolled back over and thought about what she did to Tomo. She knew that at the time it wasn't the best response, but it was the most effective. She became filled with thoughts in what else she could have done, and then felt guilty about what she had done. "I have to apologize to her." She thought. Peeking her head over the bed, she stared down at her friend, not stirring at all
"Boo." Sakaki said, opening her eyes and smiling. A startled Kaorin tucked her head back onto the bed.
"P-Penguin was falling so I had to grab it to make sure it didn't wake you up." She said trying to cover up what was happening. Sakaki laughed at this.
"Whatever you say."
Her mother came into her room shorty after, making Kaorin and Sakaki sit up.
"Ah, so you girls are already up. I'll go make you two some breakfast." She left her room and closed the door, letting the two girls fall back down on their pillows.
"You and your mom look really similar." Sakaki said.
"You think so? People say it alot, but I don't really think so. I know we have similar hair. I liked my mom's hairstyle so much I had mine cut like hers from my last year of middle school until now. We always go to get out haircut together."
Hearing the last part made Sakaki feel saddened. She had never had that connection with her mother, and things weren't any better now that the yelling had subsided. Kaorin had noticed her silence, making her begin to worry.
"Was I talking to much?"
"Oh, no, of course not."
Kaorin breathed a sigh of relief.
"So what song were you listened to?" Kaorin pointed at her earbuds.
"Oh, it's a song that doesn't have any lyrics, but sounds really nice. Here." She pulled out her earbuds and held them up to Kaorin. Taking them from her hand, she placed them in her ear. Sakaki pressed play, and immediately she felt sucked in to the music.
"Woah...this is amazing..."
She felt totally entranced by the music, it made her feel so many things at once.
"What's this song called?" She asked.
"Resonance. What did you think of it?"
"It sounded amazing."
"I'm glad you liked it."
They heard a knock on their bedroom door.
"Hey girls, I just made you two some breakfast, it's on the table. I'll be out most of today, I have to run some errands. Goodbye Kaori."
"Bye Mom!"
Her mother pulled the door to as she headed for the front door.
"We should probably start eating." Kaorin said, getting up from her bed.
Sakaki got up after her and followed her to the kitchen.
"That was really good, don't you think?" Kaorin said, walking back into her room with Sakaki.
"It was. Your mom can cook really well."
"I'll let her know you said that! So, are you ready to binge something?"
"Yeah, let's do it!"
Kaorin went under her bed and pulled out a crate of TV shows and movies she had either bought or been given as gifts. She bought it over to Sakaki and the two looked for something. One anime in peticular caught her eye.
"How about this one?" The tall girl pointed. Kaorin picked it up.
"Oh hey, Chihiro bought me this for Christmas! She told me it was really great!"
She placed it next to her and moved the crate back under her bed, then walked over to the TV and set everything up.
"Do you want any snacks?" Kaorin asked, placing the first DVD in.
"Im ok, thank you." Kaorin was able to tell she was just being polite, so she got up anyway and went to her kitchen. She pulled out a big bag of chips walked back to her room.
"I know you were only trying to be polite, so I found these for us, haha!" She said, rubbing the back of her head.
"Haha, thank you."
They were sat closely next to eachother (which had made Kaorin blush) and we're ready to binge the entire series.
