"Why?" Sakaki cried as she lunged into her father's arms. He let out a sigh.
"I can't talk about that with you right now. Your mother asked me to not get you involved."
Her father held onto her as she let her emotions out.
"Whatever happens, you'll still be able to see both of us. You see me at school all the time, and your mother works late most of the time already. It'll be ok."
He held onto her as she began to calm down.
Kaorin laid on her bed, perplexed at what Tomo wanted to see her for. She looked at the clock on her phone. 11:47 pm. "Chihiro's probably asleep." She thought. Her fingers fiddled with her stuffed animal as her mind swirled with possible explanations as to why Tomo of everyone would want to see her. "Is it a set up?" She began to think, starting to realize how bad things could get. She picked her phone up and saw a message from Kagura.
"Yo Kaorin, I'm meeting
up with Furanku tomorrow!"
"Yay! \(v)/ I'm also
meeting someone tomorrow."
"Is it Sakaki? "
"No :( it's Tomo. She called
me and asked to hang out.
Its weird. I don't like her
but I'm seeing her anyway"
"That's not like Tomo, she
doesn't hang out with
anyone unless it's Yomi"
"Could Tomo be...gay?"
"Maybe. Why? "
"Nono! Not like that!
Because she doesn't
really hang out with
anyone else."
"I know what you mean,
maybe she just wants
to talk to you."
"I guess so, but isn't it
kinda obvious?"
"It would be, yes. But
its still plausible. Also,
I gotta sleep. I can't
wait to see Furanku!!!
My heart's thumping
just thinking about him!
Goodnight!"
"Aww, goodnight Kagura.
Good luck tomorrow, and
thank you!"
Kaorin laid her phone back down and returned to her previous position. Her eyes fell as her mind wandered onto what would happen tomorrow.
Kagura was in her room trying to sleep. Her mind was littered with thoughts of finally seeing Furanku. As she tried to slumber, her phone began to buzz. She excitedly rolled over and picked it up.
"Hello?"
"H-hey. Its Sakaki."
"Hey Sakaki! What's up?"
"I was wondering, do you want to, maybe, hang out tomorrow?
"I would love to, but I'm kinda seeing a guy tomorrow. I'd love to meet up another time, though!"
"Oh...yeah, don't worry about it. Thanks."
"You're welcome. Goodnight!"
She hung up the phone and excitedly tried to sleep again. Sakaki sighed and thought of who else to ask.
"I can't do Osaka or Chiyo... Kagura is off the table... Tomo maybe? Kaorin won't be up this late, so I can't ask her. Yomi?"
She picked up her phone and dialed in Yomi's phone number.
"Hello?"
"H-hi. It's Sakaki."
"Oh hey, what's up?"
"Do you, um, want to go and hang out tomorrow?"
"Sure, I'm free. When do you want to meet up?"
"Oh, um, maybe at 11? Is that ok?"
"Yep, I'll meet you at the end of your street."
"Oh, sure. Thank you."
"No problem. I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight."
"Goodnight Yomi."
Sakaki felt a little better now that she had someone to spend the day with.
Kagura awoke early and excitedly jumped out of bed. She threw on her cherry red track suit and went for her morning jog. As she ran around her neighbourhood and surrounding area, she noticed she was running faster than usual. It didn't bother her because she knew why: she was meeting up with a boy. As she arrived back home, she locked the door and ran upstairs. Casting away her clothing, she looked at her closet and tried to figure out what to wear. She pulled out a pair of jeans before she paused and looked at her selection of shirts. She thought carefully about it before pulling out a white shirt with thick blue stripes on it. Her body moved to her bed where she sat down and checked her phone.
"Are we still good
to meet up?"
While she waited she shot a text to Kaorin.
"Hey, have fun
today! :)"
Just then she got a response from the boy.
"Yep, I'll see you
there in an hour"
"Ok, sounds good!"
She fell back onto her bed and smiled excitedly, before bolting up to find a perfume to use. She scanned through all of her draws and found nothing. "Hey mom," she yelled down the stairs, "do you have a perfume I can wear?"
"Yes, it's on my dresser."
"Thanks mom!"
Grabbing the perfume, she sprayed her neck and wrists with it, then returned to her room to wait. She checked her watch. 10:33 am. "Not long." She tho ught.
