As always Please Review.
Planet Earth, Present
It had been a few days since Metropolis had been abducted and restored. Since then, the Justice League had been busy helping the city get back on its feet. However, no one had seen Alucard since and every single news station and tabloid wanted to know just who this mysterious hero how defended them against Brainiac and saved the city was. Since Lois was the go-to expert on Superhero Stories and always got the scoop when it came to those in Tights and Capes; Perry had assigned her to the city's saviour's story.
However, without a name Lois had nothing to on, she had spoken to Michel Holt, who had been with the new mystery hero throughout the crises, but he hadn't been any help in so. The only thing she had gotten out of him was the Name Alucard and he somehow knew the Justice League. Once she had the name, she immediately began researching the name but quickly abandoned the research when she discovered the name was linked to old Dracula films.
In one film Dracula took the Name Alucard to fool society into believing the vampire was someone else. In another Alucard was the name of the character who had replaced the Van Hellsing character and was the hero of the story. Deeming that research to be a waste of time and a dead-end lead Lois decided to use a different approach. Thankfully Lois had some pull with the city's greatest hero, and if he was affiliated with the Justice League, who better to ask than the leader of the Justice League; Superman himself.
It wasn't hard to get Superman's attention, as everyone knew he always made time for Lois Lane. Something which Lois loved to point out to her rivals. So here she was once again, in her living room with Superman sitting on the other side of a table, note book in hand and Recorder on the table.
Ready for another interview with Earths greatest champion. Superman.
"Thank you again for coming, I thought you would be too busy for an interview this time," Lois said as she set herself up and placed two glasses of water on the table.
"Not at all, I was going to contact you once the city had been taken care of anyway," Superman claimed "I feel like you and the people deserve and explanation as to why I wasn't here when you all needed me,"
"That would be nice, but it wasn't just you that wasn't here. It was the whole League, wasn't it created to deal with threats like that?" Lois asked.
"Let's save the questions for when the tape is recording," Superman responded with a smile.
"Good Idea, I hope you realise I won't be going easy on you,"
"You never do, by the way before we start…you weren't hurt in the attack, were you?"
"No, Perry was. He got some burns on his arm but they will heal,"
"Oh…I should go and apologise to him in person" Superman said, his voice filled with regret that Perry White was injured "Perhaps there is some way I can make it up to him,"
"He'd make you sign a contract to only give the daily planet exclusive scoops and interviews on your heroics for the rest of your life,"
"But I do that anyway?"
"Yeah but this way he would be able to hold it over you should you decide you want to contact other tabloids,"
"Can't I just fly him around the city a few times?"
"You could, but he'd still want you to sign that contract," Lois chuckled.
"I think I'll just send him a card or a fruit basket," Superman decided "It'd be safer that way,"
"Probably," Lois agreed and she sat down "Shall we get started?"
"I suppose, please tell me you have lots of questions,"
"Why, do you have somewhere to be?"
"I have to meet Batman after this. I'm hoping you'll go till sundown then we won't have to meet till tomorrow,"
"Ah, the dreaded Dark Knight, well I'll keep it as brief as possible, I don't want him sneaking into my apartment while I sleep again. So, I won't make you late for your meeting," Lois said. She leaned over the table and turned on the recorder.
"Hold on…Batman has broken into your apartment before?"
"Oh yeah, like 6 times," Lois responded casually "that's 6 times this year alone, by the way,"
"What for?"
"To use my computer. He's usually looking for information on any cases or criminals that relate to things happing in Gotham,"
Superman moaned and ran his hand over his face "I will talk to him,"
"Don't bother, we have an arrangement,"
"I am almost afraid to ask but…what arrangement,"
"I don't tell anyone he's broken in and he gives me the scoop on anything he finds related to what he used my computer for,"
"So that's how you got that intel on those mobsters who were laundering money out of Metropolis casino last month," Superman sighed. He should have known that Batman had cracked that case, since those mobsters took most of the stolen money to Gotham; and the mobsters had been so carful too.
"Yep," Lois smirked smugly "I'm up for an award for that article too. Anyway, we should start, can't keep the Dark Knight waiting,"
She turned the recorder on and pulled out her note book and pen.
"So, Superman, I guess the first question would be…where the hell were you?" Lois demanded "I mean a Robot invasion from space and you're not there,"
"I know Lois and I'm sorry. The rest of the League and I were called away to assist on another planet being invaded," Superman claimed.
"And who or what was invading this other planet?"
"Believe it or not…Brainiac himself,"
"What are you talking about? Brainiac was here," Lois claimed, crossing her arms. She loved it when people tried to play games with her, as it made the looks on their faces when they realised, she had figured them out all the more satisfying.
However, she never would have thought Superman would try to mislead her.
"He was, you see Brainiac creates duplicates of himself…clones if you will. He assigns them tasks to complete while he focuses on other things. They're all connected to the original Brainiac. So that's how he was in two places at once,"
"So, while Brainiac…the original was fighting you on another planet. Some of his clones were invading earth at the same time,"
"That's right. The clone stopped working when The League and I defeated the original, since they were connected,"
"Okay I think I understand, so it's like a hive mind situation," Lois summarised.
"That's pretty much spot on," Superman nodded in agreement.
"Okay so now I know why you weren't here. My next question is why did you just leave earth undefended?"
"We didn't. Green Lantern was supposed to be on the watchtower but he had to leave to deal with a possible Manhunter threat," Superman answered "None of us could have forsworn this attack. We're lucky and thankful that we had one friend in Metropolis at the time and he was here to help,"
"Yes, about this friend of yours. I believe his name was Alucard correct?"
"That's right, how did you know his name?"
Lois smiled. "If you must know I found and spoke to a young man who I personally saw assisting your new friend after we had been shrunk," Lois smirked "he wasn't that hard to track down,"
"Ah, I probably should have warned Michael about you,"
"Getting Back on topic. This Alucard, is he a new member of the Justice League? Are you recruiting new members and if so, how many and would you consider looking at a Daily Planet Poll to make your decision?"
"Okay Lois, first off I want to make it clear that the Justice League is not opening its doors to new members. While I personally would be happy to work with other hero's it is not something that the League has discussed or consider yet,"
"Yet Alucard proves otherwise, care to explain his presence then?"
"Alucard he's well…he's a special case," Superman started, choosing his words carefully.
"How so?"
"Do you remember when Aquaman came to the surface to talk with the world leaders and he was attacked nearly a year ago?"
"Of course, it was the Justice Leagues first big case after the Martin invasion," Lois answered.
"What a lot of people don't know is that the true villain of that case, Orm. He tried to murder both Aquaman and his infant son, and as you and the public know, failed. However, it was during that attempted Murder that Aquaman stumbled upon Alucard and well…for the better term woke him up,"
"I'm sorry, what do you mean Aquaman woke him up? And was his child okay?"
"Don't worry, Aquamans son was saved and safely returned to his mother unharmed. As for what I meant, Alucard was found sealed away in the deepest and one of the most dangerous parts of Atlantian territory, when Aquaman escaped Orm, he accidently unsealed him,"
"If Alucard was locked away perhaps it was for a good reason. Do you know why?"
"Yes, Alucard as you've probably figured out by now, he's a Meta. He said that where he was from those with extraordinary abilities were hunted and persecuted," Superman said seriously "he was found inside a stone coffin in what could only be described as a Mosilam,"
"So, he was most likely locked away due to his powers," Lois asked in surprise.
"That is the assumption we are running with, Alucard doesn't like to talk about before he was locked away as it is very painful for him and the League respect that,"
"Then how do you know that he was locked away simply for having powers?"
"When we first met, he said his family was hunted and murdered for being different. First his mother and than a year later his father and almost immediately after his father died; he was sealed away for good,"
"That's horrible," Lois said.
"It is, Alucard has confirmed that both he and his father were gifted with extraordinary powers…hence the conclusion that he is a Meta Human. His mother on the other hand was not and she killed simply for marrying Alucard's father," Superman claimed.
"But if he was sealed away for having powers, then perhaps he isn't a hero, perhaps he and his family were some kind of horrible villains and this was his punishment,"
"The League has considered that and since he is reluctant to tell us what happened in the lead up to him being sealed, we're not ruling it or any other reason out,"
"So, what exactly are you and the league doing about it?"
"The justice league is…watching him for signs that he might have been a bad guy. So far, he hasn't done anything to indicate he was a bad guy. He's also very weak from being sealed for such a long time, so we are also helping him adjust,"
"How long was he sealed for?"
"He doesn't remember when he was sealed. But given the underwater tomb he was found in Aquaman and the League estimate it to be at least a hundred years," Superman said offhandedly.
"A…A hundred years?" Lois gasped.
"Honestly it could be more and it wouldn't surprise me if it was,"
"Why do you believe that?"
"Well, the tomb he was found in was underwater, so it is hard to tell exactly when it was built, due to erosion from such and extended time under water. Plus, the Atlantian records state the area that he was found in was surrounded by highly volatile and very dangerous underwater volcanos that were formed more than 500yrs ago. Honestly it is a miracle he was found to begin with,"
"I see…wow, that is…sure is something. But if he was found in Atlantian territory than the Atlanteans must have known he was there,"
"They didn't, Aquaman is the king of Atlantis and he was just as surprised as the league was when we learned of Alucard's existence,"
"But how could they not know?"
"The tomb we found Alucard in is not one of Atlantian designs, nor is it built using Atlantian technology. As I mentioned the surrounding underwater volcanos made it a very dangerous place and there were no records of their ever being anything built in that area…at least according to the Atlantian history," Superman explained.
"Then how did he get there?"
"Well…here's where it gets strange. There was evidence of Magic within the tomb,"
"Magic?" Lois asked sceptically "seriously,"
"Oh yes, and don't give me that look, you've met a few heroes who are masters of mystic arts. Or do I need to remind you of that incident with Dr Fate and Zatana,"
"All right you made your point…so getting back to the magic tomb,"
"Right. Aquaman and the Atlanteans were very helpful with this next part of the investigation. The tomb held five very powerful spells inside We believe that whoever made that tomb did so with the intention that Alucard never ever escape from it,"
"So, did you figure out what those spells do?"
"With some help yes," Superman nodded "the main and Primary one was a sleeping spell one that was to put whoever that was in the tomb into and eternal and endless sleep," Superman claimed "It was etched onto the lid of the stone coffin,"
"Let me guess, only true loves kiss from the handsome prince could awaken him," Lois
Superman laughed at that. "No, nothing quite so simple I'm afraid,"
"You said five spells, what were the other four?"
"The first was to keep the water out, a second was to prevent the door from being opened from the inside and the third was to keep a source of air or breathable atmosphere inside the tomb at all times,"
"Really?" Lois asked "That seems odd?"
"I know, however that was what was there. Additionally, theses three spells were all connected to each other. So, if one broke, they all broke,"
"That is interesting, I would assume that is how Alucard got out,"
"You would assume correct, The League consulted Dr. Fate on the makeup of the spells and he said only the most powerful of mystics could weave and integrate those spells to work the way they did,"
"Now, you said five spells, but you've only stated four," Lois pointed out "What was the fifth?"
"The fifth was the only one not connected to the other four and it was engraved on inside of the stone coffins base. Essentially as long as the coffin lid was shut Alucard who was sealed inside would be unable remove it,"
"Hold on back up…why would whoever made this magic prison place a spell inside the coffin if Alucard was already in an eternal slumber?" Lois asked "That doesn't make sense,"
"Your right it doesn't and it didn't to us either…until we asked Alucard about,"
"And what did he say?"
Superman looked down in sadness.
"Alucard told us, the last spell was one that amplified the other four. All this magic needed a power source to work for as long as it did and only once there was sufficient power to the other spells did they all take effect," Superman claimed his voice filled with regret.
"But there was nothing else in that tomb, right?" Lois asked. She had a bad feeling she knew what Superman was going to say next.
"You're correct, there was nothing else in that tomb. Alucard himself was power source,"
Lois eyes widened in horror as she realised the implications of that last statement.
"Wait…you don't mean?"
"I do, whoever locked him away did so knowing that it would take time for the spells to take full effect. They sealed him in that coffin and left him there, unable to escape and just waiting for the other four spells to take effect and knowing that once he fell asleep his own Meta abilities would ensure he would never wake again. The fact that Alucard knew about it means they must have told him that he would power his own prison for all eternally,"
"That's just…cruel,"
"It is,"
"So, if Alucard is awake now, how did Aquaman break the spells?"
"When Aquaman found the Tomb, he opened the door from the outside, which broke 4 out of the 5 spells immediately. Then saw the coffin and thought there was something in there he could use. When he removed the lid, he was surprised to find Alucard, however he was still asleep at the time," Superman explained "At least according to Aquaman,"
"Then how did Alucard wake up?"
"With the other four spells broken the amplifier that was powering them no longer worked either. So, he just woke up on his own, though apparently it took a bit of time,"
"So…Aquaman brings in his crying child and wakes Alucard up," Lois stated "Wait a second…how did the Mosilem even get to the bottom of the ocean?"
"We don't know, Dr. Fate reckons it could have been transported there via spell," Superman shrugged "either way it would be impossible for anyone to get down to the bottom of the ocean. It's really a fluke that Aquaman stumbled across him to begin with,"
"That's horrible, is the Tomb still at the bottom of the ocean?"
"Yes, the Atlanteans are both guarding and studying it. According to our magical consultants, the spells can be reactivated if put Alucard back in the stone coffin and shut the door,"
"I bet Aquaman is happy about that,"
"He is not. He views it as humans dumping their prisoners in his waters. However, without any concrete proof that Alucard's deserved to be sealed away we don't really want to send him back. And since Aquaman doesn't really want to deal with him we came up with a compromise,"
"And that is?"
"The Justice League will observe and take responsibility for Alucard. If he does as you say turn out to be threat then back to his prison he goes. If not well… he's free to go,"
"Isn't this a big risk your taking?"
"Think of it as a Probation period, it's offered to reformed criminals all the time,"
"But that is different,"
"Really I don't see how. We have Alucard under constant surveillance, he has to check in with us every few days and we've had him assist the League on some cases, as a way to see how he would react to certain situations,"
"and when he's not helping the league or being watched?"
"We are helping him catch up on what he missed, Flash has been particularly helpful in that department," Superman smiled.
"and the rest of the League?"
"We've all been doing our part to help him, even J'onn and Wonder Woman have. And they're fairly new to modern society themselves,"
"Surly it can't be that simple,"
"It's not, we've had our ups and downs, but when it comes down to it, I believe Alucard is a good person and even though I don't know what happened to him in the past…I'm sure he didn't deserve to be locked away like he was,"
"And if he did."
"The league was fully prepared to deal with him when we came to this arrangement and we still are. Alucard has also agreed to these terms and he even promised he would not resist if we deem him a threat," Superman said "Though personally I hope it never comes to that,"
"So, when dose this Probation period, as you put it end?"
"When Batman is satisfied,"
"Ah…so no set date then," Lois joked.
"Not yet, no," Superman chuckled back.
Watchtower meeting room
Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, J'onn and Hawk Girl all sat in the meeting room. Batman and Superman were not with them as Superman was dealing with his all too inquisitive reporter and Batman was busy elsewhere. The league was waiting for the man of steel to return.
"Was this the right call?" Flash asked, breaking the silence.
"It had to be done," Green Lantern responded.
"But to lie like that, and to have Superman do it too,"
"The Humans need something and telling the truth would only cause panic," J'onn stated.
"We all decided that earth is are not ready to know and Alucard is not ready to tell them either" Hawk Girl agreed.
"But Al could get into some serious trouble over this," Flash claimed "If they find out that not only did, we lie…Superman lied…"
"They won't find out hot shot," Green lantern insisted "Batman spoke to Dr. Fate and he agreed to collaborate the story once we explained the situation, no one will be able challenge the story,"
"Still, I don't think it's right. What if this comes back to bite us in the ass later,"
"By then Alucard will either have gone back to sleep or have made a name for himself," Wonder Woman pointed out "If it comes out, we can say we altered facts because Alucard did not feel confutable in telling his story,"
"Still it feels wrong somehow," Flash said.
"This is for Alucard own safety and peace of mind," Hawk Girl reminded the speedster "he never wanted to be in the spotlight, but after what happened with Brainiac, it's no longer an option,"
"I know…I just feel like we should have gone about this in a different way," Flash sighed.
"What other way could we do this…oh hey, we found this vampire at the bottom of the ocean in Dracula's old castle. That's right Dracula existed and he tried to kill us all, but don't this guy is not Dracula but his son and he is on our side. Also, he is immune to sunlight and every other vampire weakness and can't be killed. So, you can all feel safe knowing there is a real live vampire out on the streets both during the day and at night protecting you and your families," Green Lantern said sarcastically. "Because that would go down so well,"
Flash pouted in response.
"Lantern, did you get a response from the Guardians yet?" J'onn asked "Regarding the other worlds?"
"Yeah, the Guardians are looking for replacement planets or planets with acceptable atmospheres to take them in. they're sending a ship with a squad of Lanterns and 10 of Honour guards to pick up Brainiac's ship and the bottled worlds. They'll be here in a few days,"
"So many, is all that security really necessary?" Hawk Girl asked.
"The Guardians aren't taking any chances," Green Lantern said seriously.
Watchtower Cafeteria, 3hrs later
Superman walked into the watchtower's cafeteria, it was empty save for Batman who was sitting alone in at a table with an open file and some paper work in front of him. Superman walked over and sat down opposite the Dark Knight and let out a defeated sigh.
"So how did it go?" Batman asked without looking up from what he was doing.
"Oh, you know Lois. Always needs to ask the hard questions," Superman responded.
"We won't be seeing anything to do with Vampires being real on the front page of tomorrows paper, will we?"
"No, I avoided that. I told her the cover story that you and Alucard came up with," Superman assured "I still don't know how you convinced him agree to that by the way,"
"Alucard doesn't want the public to know about him. He's clearly not ready for the kind of attention you and the rest of the league receive. However, this incident with Brainiac it is no longer possible to keep him under the radar," Batman responded.
"I know and once you're in the public's eye it's near impossible to get out of it," Superman sighed "I know that all too well,"
"Exactly, so a cover story is needed. Give the press something and it will get them off his back for a while," Batman finished.
"Still, I feel terrible about lying to Lois like that,"
"It's not all a lie, Aquaman did find Alucard locked away at the bottom of the ocean. He was locked away due to his powers and his parents were killed in the lead up to it,"
"Yeah, but it was self-imposed exile, not imprisonment by an evil wizard of something,"
"Alucard didn't want his story to be known, we should respect his decision," Batman stated "It's why I chose Lois, she has a weak spot for you and will tell the story exactly how you described. No one would dare try and contradict your testimony,"
"They could though, in hopes of getting more info,"
"Who are they going to talk to? You and Flash are really the only ones who talk to the press, Hawk Girl doesn't bother, J'onn and Wonder Woman are up here 95% of the time, Lantern always responds with No Comment before flying off, and do really think Aquaman would take interviews?"
"What about you?"
"Please, not even the Gotham Press are dumb enough to try and get me for an interview…and half of their reporters are part of various gangs based in Gotham,"
"Fair point I suppose," Superman agreed. "Wait…your reporters are part of the mob?" he asked as he realised what Batman said.
"Being a reporter is their day jobs, they have that job to get dirt on rival gangs or mobs and publish it to make them look bad or be informants for Gotham gangs,"
"And I take it you know which gang each reporter belongs too?"
Batman looked up and gave him a flat look.
"Of course, you do," Superman sighed "Are there any decent or honest reporters in Gotham?"
"No,"
"You know, Lois thought we were recruiting new members. Had a whole angle and poll ready for which hero the Daily Planet readers would like to see join,"
"And you wonder why I don't talk to the Press,"
"She has a point though, we could use some extra hands, maybe have some other heroes on standby encase something like this happens again,"
"Brainiac was destroyed and his shrinking technology is now in your fortress under Justice League protection and awaiting pick up by the Green Lantern Corp. There is very little chance we'll see him again and no need for more members,"
"You're just saying that because you don't like working with others and you'd have to be more social if we did open our doors for new recruits,"
"We have a demi-god, 3 alien refuges, an intergalactic space cop with the most powerful weapon in the universe sitting on his finger, Flash and a Half-Vampire who doesn't know what a coffee maker is," Batman said flatly "and you want to bring more people up here,"
"Well, your city has never been abducted before when you weren't there," Superman shot back.
"If an alien AI wanted to Abduct Gotham, I guarantee it would be back within a day…maybe less,"
"Really?"
"It would depend on whether Joker was on the streets or not,"
Superman let out another groan but didn't respond.
"Something else is bothering you, what is it?"
"Luthor," Superman claimed "I went to see him in jail…he's still mad at me,"
"Did you two break up?" Batman asked "well don't worry there are other evil Guinness for you to fight,"
Superman raised an Eyebrow and looked at Batman in shock.
"Did you just make a joke?" Superman asked in surprise.
Batman huffed in response.
"He's sick," Superman continued when Batman did say anything else.
"That's nothing new,"
"You knew?" Superman asked in shock and then he remembered who he was talking to "Of course you did. Should have known," he let out a sigh.
"Well, what else would you call a man who has more influence and sway over the people than the leaders they elect and dedicates billions of dollars to taking down an alien refugee out of jealousy?" Batman asked "not to mention he keeps getting away with it,"
"No not that kind of sick, I mean he's really sick. As in terminally ill," Superman clarified "and it's my fault,"
"Oh," He put down his papers and looked up at Superman "What does he have?"
"Radiation cancer,"
"His super suit isn't radioactive though. How long has he been sick?"
"It wasn't his suit, it's the kryptonite he always carries with him," Superman sighed "it gave him cancer and because it's from an alien world, it's untreatable and spreading fast. As for how long…about two months, maybe two and a half,"
"Hmm…makes sense," Batman stated "It also explains a few things,"
"it does?"
"Kryptonite's radiation may not affect humans like it dose you but radiation is still radiation and prolonged exposure to any kind of radiation can and will be fatal. It's why I keep mine in a lead-lined contain and check the container and replace it every few months," Batman stated "Honestly with Luthor being as smart as he claims I'm surprised he didn't take any kind of precautions at all,"
"Yeah well, he's paying the price now," Superman claimed
"Was he sick when he used Amazo to attack us?"
"He was, but it was suppressed by his super suit," Superman explained "it doesn't cure the cancer just slows its spreading rate to give him more time,"
"Huh, guess that's why he was so keen to have Amazo steal for him. He needed his Suit repaired,"
"Yeah. He blames me for his condition. Said if I hadn't come to earth then he wouldn't be ill,"
"You were less than a day old when Krypton was destroyed, you did not cause your planet to blow up nor was it you that chose to come to earth. You did not tell Luthor to carry kryptonite in his pocket all these years and Luthor knew it gave off some form of radiation. You bear no fault for his condition," Batman explained "If anything Luthors illness may spark more research into kryptonite and serve as a warning to those that do possess it that it's not as harmless as was first believed,"
"That doesn't make me feel any better," Superman said.
"Then look at it this way, Luthor will soon no longer be a threat to you or anyone else and his company can be run properly for the betterment of mankind,"
"Uh-huh, and who would run it if Luthor wasn't there, because last time I checked. Mercy was the acting CEO and owner,"
"Ture, but Lex Corp is a company, the majority stock holder legally owns the company. And I'm fairly sure she couldn't afford that many stocks on a chuffer's sealery," Batman explained "Any wealthy individual could take over with ease,"
"You have stocks in Luthor Corp don't you," Superman said.
"No…but I may buy some now,"
"You know that won't be cheap, Lex Corp shares cost almost as much as shares in your own company,"
"I am aware and I think you forget just how rich I am. Besides, Luthor Corp stock prices will fall as soon as this news breaks and once Luthor dies they will fall even lower. Leaving Wayne technology's free to swoop and take over. Finally putting the company to good use,"
"You are as ruthless in the business world as you are on Gotham's streets at night," Superman claimed.
"Compared to how I treat Criminals, I'm fairly gentle when it comes to business," Batman said.
"So, planning a hostile takeover of the only company who gives yours any competition as soon as its founder and CEO develops a terminal illness is your version of gentle is it?" Superman asked.
"I prefer to call it a merger," Batman shrugged and he picked up the paper he was looking at before.
Superman shook his head. It was easy to forget that Batman was both a ruthless vigilante and highly successful businessman, since Superman hardly ever saw the business side in action.
"What are you working on anyway?" Superman asked and looked at the papers.
"A case for commissioner Gordon. There's been a string of robberies of Hard Ware and Home Appliance stores, he thinks there could be a connection between the stores that were robbed," Batman answered.
"That's a bit low key for you. But why are you up here? Shouldn't you be doing this and research in the Bat Cave?"
"Alfred locked me out the Bat computer for working to much again," Batman grumbled.
"Ah…you know your right, compared to Alfred, you and Luthor are saints," Superman joked.
"Mm mm," Batman responded.
Suddenly the alarm in the tower went off. Batman and Superman immediately stood up and dashed out the door towards the monitor womb. Arriving there a minute later. J'onn was already at the controls typing in commands and getting details. The rest of the league, including Alucard were there as well.
"What's going on?" Superman asked.
"Break out of Arkem," J'onn answered.
"How many and who?" Batman demanded.
"Cat Woman, Riddler, Man-Bat and…Calendar man?" J'onn said. Though he was a little unsure about the last one. He looked at Batman as if waiting for confirmation that he was reading the name right.
"One of my more lesser-known villains," Batmans stated.
"Calendar man, Seriously?" Flash asked light-heartedly "No wait don't tell me, he's late for a very important date," Batman growled in response.
Alucard raised an eyebrow and gave the air a quick sniff. "Batman…why did your hormones just spike when J'onn mentioned Cat Woman?"
"Everyone to the Javelin," Batman ordered in a no-nonsense tone "Now,"
"Race you there," Flash said and zoomed off. The others followed him and Batman let out a frustrated sigh.
"So…how is Selina doing these days?" Superman asked with a big knowing grin on his face "Are you going to let Alfred know she's out again?
Batman slowly turned and gave Superman his most terrifying Bat Glare that he could muster. The kind he normally reserved exclusively for Flash.
"Right, Javelin," Superman said, immediately dropping the subject. He then turned to face the door "wait for me guys," he called after the rest of the group before racing off at superspeed.
A.N Fun Fact, when originally planning this story, what Superman describes to Lois was my original idea on how Alucard met the Justice League. Once he met the League he was supposed to at some point find Castlevania and then take control of it at a later point. However, I scrapped it early on in favor of Alucard inheriting the castle upon Dracula's death as it worked better story-wise.
Let me know which version of Alcuards back story you like better. This one or the one in Chapter 1
