Superman
Clark Kent was sitting at a nice rooftop restaurant across from Lois Lane. The two were on a date and he was looking at the menu. Lois looked beautiful in her gorgeous long black dress.
"Everything here looks so good," he commented.
"It should, this place is the most expensive place in town," Lois agreed "Can you even afford this?"
"Sure, the owner owes me for the article that saved his restaurant from closing last month," Clark smiled.
"Well then, how about we start with a bottle of Pink champagne on ice and see where the night goes from there," Lois suggested seductively.
Clark stared at Lois dumbfounded and his glasses slid down his nose.
"Uh…umm…sure…. we…we can do that," Clark stuttered nervously.
"Oh, you're so cute when you stutter, Smallville," Lois claimed and she stood up and strutted over to him "How about I give you a confidence boost," she bent over and whispered something in his ear that made Clark go bright red.
"Lois…were in public…" Clark claimed.
"That's alright," Lois said and retook her seat "I can wait for dessert,"
Clark quickly hid his face behind the menu in an effort to prevent Lois from seeing how embarrassed he was. However, that was short-lived as the Menu suddenly began to smoke and red holes appeared and burnt it away.
"What the?" Clark asked, he quickly shut his eyes and rubbed them.
"Everything okay?" Lois asked.
"Yeah, everything is fine," Clark claimed he turned to look away and opened his eyes for two massive beams of heat shot out. It was far more intense than his normal heat vision. The beams hit the Building next to them creating panic.
Clark quickly turned away to look at the ground, however, his vision sliced the table and balcony in half and Lois fell to the street below.
"No Lois…" Clark cried out. He shut his eyes and dove over the railing to save her and using a burst of speed to catch up to her. However, he used too much and created a sonic boom that shattered the windows on the whole city block.
He reached out his hand to grab Lois, however, because Clarks eyes were shut, he needed to rely on his super hearing to locate her. He felt his hand connect with her wrist and he grabbed onto it, only to hear a bone-breaking crack.
Superman opened his eyes to see that he had not grabbed Lois wrist, but her neck, and he had snapped it.
"Lois…no I'm sorry," he tried, his heat vision chose that moment to activate once more and Lois Lane was incinerated in front of him. The ashes fell from his hands.
"No…NOOOOOOOOOO!" Superman cried out.
Flash
Flash was having a good day, he was helping out at the Central City orphanage, he liked to stop by once every week or two, it gave the kids hope and the orphanage didn't have the money to buy the kids toys of their favourite hero. So, Flash often spent the afternoon with them, usually, this meant playing games, telling them stories of his heroics, or even taking them on a run.
The kids loved it and so did Flash. However today Flash was watching cartoons with the kids. Well, he was until they got hungry and tried to eat him. Flash quickly left them behind and ran to Central city's main street.
However, when he arrived everyone was slowing and moving in slow motion.
"Huh, that's weird," Flash commented as he looked at a couple were walking together.
"What's weird about it?" a voice said from behind.
Flash looked behind him to see a man in a dark blue suit and hooded cape. His face was painted up to look like a skeleton.
"oh hey, you must be new in town. If you're looking for the local rouges Gallery, the pub doesn't open till 6 pm," Flash said "you should try their hot wings, it's a killer,"
"You may call me Dr. Destiny," the man introduced, and as kind, as your offer is, I am only passing through," the man said.
"oh really, that's a shame,"
"Indeed, and I could not help but over what you said. I do not understand what about this situation you find odd?"
"Well, everyone's just stopped," Flash pointed out "everyone but you and me that is,"
"I can assure you they did not stop. You are simply moving too fast,"
Flash looked back over his shoulder at the crowd and then around the city. It took him a moment to realize where he was and remembered that he had gone to sleep.
"Oh, I get it, I'm dreaming," Flash said and slapped himself in the forehead "I've had this dream ever since I got my speed. That's a relief,"
"How so?"
"Well, if this happened in real life, I know a certain Guardian of Time who would be really pissed off," Flash joked.
Dr. Destany just blinked. He had no idea what to make of that last sentence. Suddenly a phone could be heard ringing and Flash looked down the street to a phone booth.
"And that would be my alarm. Well, it's been nice meeting you but I have to get back to the real world now," Flash said and zoomed over to the phone booth.
He reached out and tried to take the receiver, but it would not budge.
"What the…this has always been my exit from this dream," Flash said "At least it has since I saw that one movie,"
"There will be no escaping this time," Dr. Destiny said.
The phone booth turned into ash in Flashes hands.
"Hey that's not fair, I chose the red pill," he shot back.
"Not now, not ever," Dr. Destiny claimed and he floated upwards "you will remain here in a realm of your own making from now until the end of time,"
Green Lantern
John Stewart was walking down the street of his neighbourhood; it had been a long time since he took a night off and he was enjoying his free time. He passed an old movie theatre and looked up to see what was on, there were a film festival and a list of films playing. John read the list and contemplated seeing a film, all of them were classics and the films were from a variety of different genres. After all what better way to spend a free night than seeing a movie on the big screen with a big bucket of Popcorn.
He could always tell Alucard about the film later or the festival and see if the Vampire wanted to see a movie outside of the watchtower.
"Excuse me," a voice said from behind. John looked behind him to see a man in a blue cloak and a skull painted face.
"Uh…can I help you?" John asked cautiously. He hoped this wasn't a villain.
"Yes, I need to check the session times," Dr. Destiny replied.
John stepped aside and watched the strangely dressed man step forward and look at the flier that was posted.
"Bit early for Halloween don't you think?" John stated.
"hmm?"
"Your costume and the face paint, kind of out of place,"
"Oh this," Dr. Destany tuned and gestured down at his outfit "some friends and I are meeting here for the 8 pm session of I know what you did last summer. We all decided to dress up," Dr. Destany explained.
"Oh, sorry. I thought you were a supervillain for a moment," John laughed.
"Oh, I am," Dr. Destiny claimed casually.
John immediately summoned his green lantern suit and activated his ring. He would not let any villain getaway under his watch. "Buddy, I don't know what you're planning but I won't let you get away with it,"
"But I already have. Look," Dr. Destany said and pointed to the sky.
John looked up to see a green Lantern ship deciding from above the clouds. He recognized it as a Guardian class ship.
"What the…what's that doing here?" John asked.
"Well, that is a Green Lantern ship correct. I doubt they're here for me,"
John kept his ring pointed at Dr. Destiny but also watched the ship land in the street and several small grey aliens with white hair wearing red robes floated out of it. They glanced around and floated over to John and formed a half-circle around him.
"Jhon Stuart, we have come to retrieve the Power Ring," one of the Guardians said and held out his hand.
"Is this some kind of joke?" John asked.
"We do not Joke, we have simply decided that you are no longer worthy of the Green Lantern Ring," the guardian said "we will take your ring and find a proper owner for it,"
"This has to be a mistake," John argued. He tried to think about what he had done to become unworthy of the ring but nothing came to mind.
"We are the guardians of the universe, we do not make mistakes," the guardians continued "Look the ring agrees,"
John looked down at himself and saw his uniform disappear, the light from his ring also vanished.
"no…no…" John said. He tried to summon a construct, a simple square but nothing happened. The ring did not respond nor did it light up.
"You see, we will take it back now," the guardians claimed. A green aura surrounded the guardians and John's ring lifted off his finger. He tried to grab it, but the guardians commanded the ring to float to them and once in their hands. The Guardians floated back towards their ship.
"Oh my, that was interesting," Dr. Destany claimed.
"No, you chose me. Why did you choose me if you were just going to take it away?" John demanded.
The guardians didn't answer. They simply entered their ship and took off without another word.
"No, come back. Answer me damn it," John demanded angrily. But he got no response.
Once the ship was gone and out of sight, John fell to his knees. He had no idea what he was going to tell the justice League. Without the power ring, he would have to resign from the league as the others would no longer want or need him on their team.
"Perhaps the power was never meant for you in the first place," Dr. Destany supplied "But it appears today is your lucky day,"
"What are you talking about?" John asked.
At that moment two streaks of light flew across the sky. One red and one yellow. The light beams suddenly altered their course and flew down towards the earth and suddenly stopped in front of him. Two small objects hovered in front of John and the former green lantern stared at objects.
There floating in front of him was a Yellow and Red Power Ring.
"A red and yellow power ring?" John asked in surprise.
"So, trade-in one ring get to back. Not a bad trade I'd say," Dr. Destany said.
"But I can't wield two power rings at once," John claimed.
"why not?"
"It's just not done,"
"Well, there is a fist time for everything, besides think of the power you will have with these two rings,"
"but if I put them on…I will lose myself to them," John claimed.
"If you put them on you can go to Oa and demand answers. You won't have to quit the justice league," Dr. Destiny said.
"Your right," John agreed. He reached out and took both rings placing them on his fingers. One ring on each hand.
Suddenly he felt the power of two different power sources flood his body. He started to scream as he took on both Rage and fear, each supporting and fuelling the other until the pain subsided. John started to laugh and he stood up. His Lantern uniform had returned, however, the symbol was a mixture of the red and yellow corp.
"Yes, now this is power," John laughed as his eyes glowed with red and yellow energy.
"That's right run from me," John demanded "I will take this world and then I will come for the guardians,"
Dr. Destiny watched as John proceeded to decimate the city. It was not long before the justice league got involved and John ploughed through them too. After which he took up into the sky and proceeded out into the universe.
"Everyone will feel my wrath," he announced as John blasted planets into dust.
Dr. Destany floated behind watching. "hmm…maybe I went too far with this one..." he stated "oh well, the more he destroys, the more he will deteriorate,"
"Burn you worthless sacks of meat, feel the wrath of a pissed of cop with the universal delete cannon," John cried as he created a large cannon with the words delete on them.
"I hope," Dr. Destany added.
Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman's eyes snapped open, as she heard the sounds of screaming and felt the heat of the flame. It was too close for comfort; she opened her eyes. "Great Hera," She gasped as she took in the sight before her.
Themiscra was on fire, the fire waged across the island, everything was burning, and Wonder woman could see several of her sister's corpses either burning away and creating a rotten smell or displayed as art or warnings. It made Diana sick to the core to see her people treated in such a way.
She looked around desperately for survivors only to find none. Her eyes narrowed.
"Whoever did this will pay dearly," Wonder Woman swore.
Suddenly a figure was thrown out onto the ground in front of her. Diana looked up to see who it was only for the blood to drain from her face. There lying face down in the dirt was her mother. Hippolyta's dress was torn and ragged and her face was burned and beaten. Diana swore she saw bloodstains on the lower back of her mothers' dress.
"Mother," Wonder Woman cried out. She ran towards Hippolyta only for something to hold her back. She looked down and saw that her wrists were connected to chains that linked them to one of the few still standing columns.
Wonder Woman grabbed the chains and tried to break them; however, they resisted her Amazonian strength. As she tried Hippolyta struggled to her feet and Wonder woman looked over to her in desperation. She wanted to assure her mother that she would be there and help her, but with the chains holding her back there was no way to get to her.
"No Diana, look away," Hippolyta pleaded.
"Now now pet," a shadowy voice said and Hades emerged from the shadow "Your daughter must learn obedience," the god said and took Hippolyta's chin into his hands "and what better way is there for a child to learn than by her mothers' example,"
"Hades," Wonder Woman gasped "But how?"
"It is simply my child, I won," hades said smoothly.
"No…we stopped you. Alucard he…he pushed you back into the underworld," Wonder Woman shouted.
"Ah yes, the pitiful half breed. He is no longer a problem," Hades stepped aside and gestured to a where the bodies of the entire justice league were on display. Diana's' eyes teared up as she looked into the horrific expressions on their faces. Alucard's body was also there, lifeless and dead with a wooden pike going under his jaw and through his head. The blood was still fresh and seeping from the wound.
"You see," Hades smirked.
"That…that can't be,"
"Oh, it is and I have you to thank,"
"Me?"
"Yes, you see in a desperate plea for me to spare your mother's life, you sold me your friends' weakness and when they came to help, I killed them all," Hades smirked "Your compassion and love for Hippolyta here has always been your greatest weakness,"
"I would never do that," Diana protested "This isn't real,"
"It is and you did. But you have been…troublesome ever since. So as punishment, you will watch me as I take your mother over and over again and when I am done with her…I will see just how much you've learned,"
"You monster don't you touch my daughter," Hippolyta demanded.
"Oh, but my pet, I don't plan on touching her at all," Hades smiled wickedly. He raised his hand and the bodies of the Justice floated upward and glowed blue. Suddenly they all took a deep breath and gasped for air. Wonder woman smiled with relief.
"I am the god of the dead, I can give life just as easily as I can take it away," Hades claimed "and make no mistake I will take their lives again. After I've had fun with your mother of course,"
To prove his point, Hades clenched his fist and the whole justice league instantly died once more. He let go of his power and their bodies dropped to the ground.
"I will kill them all very slowly and very painfully, she will listen to their screams and when she is not…she will hear yours, my darling Hippolyta," Hades declared evilly "Now watch and enjoy the show,"
J'onn
J'onn ran through the burning streets of Mars. The buildings were burning all around him and it was affecting him both physically and mentally. The sound of laser fire and the battle could be heard from behind him as the Imperium tore through what little resistance remained.
He just needed to get to his home, he had to get his wife and two children. The justice League was holding off the invasion and was protecting the last space worthy craft. If he could just reach his house, he and his family could escape the red planet to earth with the rest of the league.
His children would love earth, so vibrant, so many new and different things to explore. They would grow up safe and away from war, they would want for nothing. Sure, his wife would miss mars as he did. But it would not matter where they were, they could live on Pluto and he would be happy, as long as they were together.
"Just a little further," J'onn muttered to himself as his house came into view. J'onn was relieved it was still intact and the fires had not yet spread to it.
He dashed up to the door and burst in. "Miria, I'm back. We need to go now," J'onn called out as he ran into the main room.
However, he froze at what he saw. There in the middle of the room were 4 Imperium soldiers and his family on their knees. J'onn looked into the eyes of his wife and child, fearful that any sudden movement would set the Imperiums off and harm his family.
"Oh good, you're here. Welcome home J'onn J'onzz," the Imperium soldier said.
"Let them go, it's me you want," J'onn demanded.
"Yes, it is you…we have to thank you for what you did to us centuries ago," The lead Imperium said and looked down at the hostages.
"J'onn run," his wife called out.
However, before he could move the Imperium soldiers sliced J'onns wife and two children across the neck, ripping their throats with their massive claws and letting the blood drip from them.
J'onn ran up to the bodies and fell to his knees, he hesitantly reached out to cradle his family's bodies in his arms. "No…Nooooo…NOOOOO…." He cried out, with tears streaming down his face.
"It's not just them either," the soldier claimed. He raised a clawed finger and pointed behind him.
J'onn turned fearfully and saw several more Imperium's walking into the house behind him. They were dragging the limp and exhausted bodies of the Justice League. J'onn could tell they were barely alive.
"You thought to trust the earthlings? You thought that they would be strong enough to defeat us? You were wrong, you're always wrong," the head Imperium spat "and now they die too," the Imperium said and the soldiers jabbed their massive claws into each member of the league's chest and ripped out their hearts. Blood splattered all over with one last clench, they crushed them within their fists.
"Just remember this is all your fault. If you had not spread that toxin, to begin with, we would not be doing this now," the Imperium claimed "Remember that as you burn with this useless dead planet. We're heading back to earth next and this time there will be no one to stop us,"
The Imperiums left thought he front door as the fire from the streets began to edge closer to the house. However, J'onn made no move to leave or even try to escape, he was defeated with his family gone and the league murdered due to his actions.
"I deserve this…" he whispered. J'onn looked down into the lifeless face of his wife and children and ran the back of his hand down the side of her cheek. "Rest my love, I will join you soon,"
Leaning against the door frame of the room was a blue cloaked figure watching the scene.
"Yes, you will," Dr. Destany agreed.
Alucard
The Liberian shimmered into existence in the middle of a crowded square and looked around, taking in the mob he had found himself in.
"Oh dear…this is not good," he muttered to himself as he looked around at those who were in the crowd. The master Librarian had met all of the members of the Justice League at least once.
They had come down to the castle to visit Wonder Woman. Some of the humans in the crowd he did not recognize and he assumed they were more humans than his Lord had met and they had not earned the privilege of being brought to the castle.
The master Librean pushed and squeezed his way throughout the crowd, it was easy to see which way was the centre as most of the crowd was facing the same direction. Once he got to the front, he let out a horrified gasp at what he saw.
There in front of him was Alucard. Tied to a burning stake, surrounded by raging fires that would likely never go out. He had a blank and empty look on his face.
"Master," the Librarian cried out over the crowd. Now he understood what was happing and why the castle had brought him back into Alucard's chamber. Alucard stared blankly as he continued to burn, with no indication that he had heard the Liberian. It was clear to the Librarian that the vampire did not even register that he was there. The Libran sighed, he knew this was bad, if he did not snap his master out of this madness then he would never wake.
The Librarian climbed onto the platform and reached into the flames. They did not hurt him as he was not part of the dream. The Librarian grabbed Alucard's' shirt and began to shake it and him.
"My lord you must wake, this is not real," the Librarian tried "If you do not you will remain trapped here forever,"
However, he still got no response.
"Master please wake up. The castle is calling to you…do you not hear it?"
No matter what he tried Alucard did not respond at all. The Librarian took a step back.
"This is wrong, why can the lord not hear us?" the Librarian wondered "unless…" He whirled around and immediately began looking over the crowd and the surrounding environment scanning the crowd for anyone or anything that seemed out of place "Who is doing this…who is blocking our cry?" the Librarian demanded.
However, he got no response, none of the crowd appeared to be reacting to his presence. No shadows moved, there was nothing. But the Liberian was sure that there was something in his masters' dream. It was the only possible explanation.
"The hell with this…" the Librarian muttered. He reached into his robe and pulled out a red jagged three-pointed crystal resting on a circular base. He held the crystal up above his head.
"Bring the one responsible for this nightmare before me," the Librarian commanded. The crystal shone brightly and let out a pulse wave of energy that vibrated across the crowd and through the whole town.
The Librarian waited and a skull painted faced man wearing a blue robe appeared in front of him. He looked down at the Librarian in interest.
"You summoned me from within the dream, I did not know that was possible," the man claimed. "You're not supposed to be here,"
"Neither are you," the Librarian responded gruffly as he put the crystal back into his robes. "Are the source of all this?"
"Me, no. It's his dream,"
"The master would never dream of this,"
"But he has," the stranger said and then looked around "given how stable this place is I'd say he dreams of this quite regularly,"
"That does not surprise me," the Librarian agreed solemnly "the death of a treasured loved one is not something one forgets easily" the Librarian eyes suddenly turned sharp and fierce "But I know you have meddled with my lords' dream, I can feel it,"
"Well, I admit I might have altered a few minor things," Dr. Destany shrugged.
"Minor?" the Librarian strutted in horror and jested to the burning pyre behind him "You call this minor? You are killing him,"
"Hmm…so?"
"you are Human, the fact you can infiltrate the dream world alone is impressive. Let alone your vast control over it," the Liberian stated "but why are you doing this to my Lord? What has he done to warrant such wrath?"
"Your lord?"
"I am his Librarian and archivist, above all, I am his servant,"
"Servant? Who has those any more these days? If you must know he has done nothing to me," Dr. Destany stated. He then walked past the Librean and stopped just "I just want them to suffer, I want to be the one to take them down,"
"Them?"
"The Justice League of course. You see Luthor gave me a golden opportunity when he left me to rot in prison. He let me learn from the worst of the worst and do you know what I learned?"
The Librarian's eyes flickered upwards and looked at Alucard once more. There was still no change and that meant he didn't even know Dr. Destany was here. He could see nor hear anything that was going in front of him.
"What did you learn, do tell me so I may catalog it,"
"Power always wins. See Luthor left me to rot because I didn't have power. In prison, the biggest, toughest, and meanest inmate rules the prison with fear. In this realm I have all the power, Superman, Wonder woman are nothing compared to me. In here I am a god,"
"I see…would I be correct in assuming you are also in Wonder Woman's dreams too?" the Librarian inquired.
"Not just hers, Supermans, Flash, I am in the entire Justice Leagues dreams, I have trapped them in never-ending nightmares that will torture them until they die. Once dead I will receive the recognition I deserve, no one will look down on me ever again. No one will leave me ever again,"
"Then why are you attacking my lord, he is not part of the Justice League,"
"I suppose you are right, at least according to the newspaper from four days ago," Dr. Destany claimed "But he knows them, he fights by their sides and he is close to them. He is their ally and that means he has to die too,"
The Librarian blinked a few times and then let out an exhausted sigh while closing his eyes and shaking his head. "Humans…yet again I wonder what my lord sees in you," the Librarian said calmly "You all confuse me so,"
"What is so confusing about my plan?"
"You seek recognition from people you have never met. You seek to do what can not be done…yet if you succeed there will be no proof of your deeds," the Librarian stated and he reopened his eyes.
"There will be proof when the remains of the Justice League are found,"
"Do the Justice League, not live-in space? I was also informed that their true identities were a secret," the Librarian stated "how would anyone identify them if no one knows who they are or they are never discovered,"
"I will tell them; I will tell the whole world I killed the Justice League. Me, not Luthor, not the Joker but me," Dr. Distantly proclaimed "Little weak and small Jonathan Dee did what insane criminal masterminds could not,"
"You will tell them? Would that not just incriminate you?" the Librarian asked "on that note who would believe you?" the Librarian continued "Do you know what happens to the flesh of someone who has been murdered or devoured in the dream realm?"
"They die,"
"Indeed, they do. However not in the way you think. You see when a human is killed the way you are attempting to do so it leaves no evidence on the physical form,"
"You mean…"
"You will not receive any region. No one will believe it was you, after all, any who examine the bodies will determine the cause of death to heart failure and nothing more,"
"Wh…What?"
"Oh?" the Librarian mocked "did you not know that? Did you expect perhaps that someone might have found evidence that you had something to do with it? Or that they died in some other way other than what will be taken as Natural Causes,"
"Yes, there
"It might have been possible once but a race of foolish beings outlawed such practices and means of detecting and verifying deaths like the one you are trying to do as what they truly are centuries ago,"
"What race? Which Race?" Dr. Destiny demanded "Kryptonians, Amazons…who took this method from me?"
"You humans of course," the Librarian claimed "it is quite funny now that I think about it. You may succeed in killing the justice League but you will receive none of the credit,"
"Then you will be my witness, you will tell the world of what I did," Dr. Destany demanded.
"I cannot. The moment My lord perishes I will also cease to be. Even if that were not the case, I cannot leave the castle…though you may get your recognition in a century or two as I will undoubtedly tell my lord of all you have said here and what you did to his friends,"
"How can you possibly tell a dead man what I am doing?"
"It is simple. Even if you kill him, my lord will not remain dead for long,"
"Won't remain…how can that be? That is not possible,"
"It is possible, as for how…well that is information you do not need know. What you should know is that when my lord returns…and he undoubtedly will. You will no longer be alive to receive any recognition for your deeds here and I have little doubt that my lord will go to a great many lengths to see your name removed from history for it," the Librarian chuckled "if you're lucky he may not take his anger out on your descendants should you have any and completely wipe them out. Erase you're the whole bloodline from history,"
"Enough of your prattle old man, if you won't help me, I will simply get rid of you as well," Dr. Destiny claimed. He waved his hand to enter the Liberians dream world, to find and torture him too. However, the Librarian merely sighed once more.
"Such a shame, you have a great and terrifying power…but none over me," he stated.
"What? How…Why can't I enter your dreams?" Dr. Destany demanded "if you're here then you must be asleep,"
"I do not dream; I cannot dream. Thus, your power has no effect on me,"
"Then how are you here?"
"I hold many secrets, I am made up of them and this is one I will never tell you," The Librarian stated calmly. A dim red glow slowly ignited from within his robes.
"You hold my master hostage and then threaten to end his life and subsequently mine after I have told you he will not remain dead. You are bold but you no not who you are dealing with," the Librarian
Suddenly the flames behind him extinguished and the crowd who had not moments ago been cheering and calling for Alucard's death all turned to dust and blew away. Dr. Destany looked behind him in shock. "How? I am the master of dreams…a god. How do you, an old man have more power in the dream world than he did?"
"I am the Librarian of Castlevania, the manifestation of its vast knowledge and forbidden secrets," the Librarian declared "I am an extension of the Heart of Darkness and the realm of chaos itself. And you are trespassing,"
A wave of darkness burst from the Librarian knocking Dr. Destany off the platform but left Alucard untouched. Horrors upon horrors instantly filled Dr. Destiny's mind with flashes of what the castle was capable of doing. He screamed out in fear and pain and as quickly as the visions came, they were gone.
Dr. Destiny looked back to see the Master Librarian standing at the edge of the platform and looking down on him as if he was waiting for the doctor to fall from a high cliff.
"Begone from our masters mind human and pray when the master finds you and I guarantee he will, he shows you mercy for what you have done to here because if you do not leave now…we will not,"
The cathedrals window, behind Alucard, suddenly shattered and the church crumbled to the ground. The flames that were once burning Alucard now set ablaze the remains and Castlevania slowly rose out of the remains, standing tall behind the platform. As if the structure itself was threatening Dr. Destany.
Dr. Destiny watched in fear and horror as the black castle rose, it towered over everything, and then blood began to seep out from the ground. He looked down at it and several skeletal faces began to take shape and form. Dr. Destany tried to regain some control over the dream but the more he tried the deeper the blood pool became.
When it was up to his waist Dr. destiny decided to leave while he could and faded from the dream. After all, he still had the rest of the league trapped. Once he was gone the blood receded into the cobblestone taking the horrifying faces with it and the Librarian nodded in approval and turned to back to face Alucard.
"Now then," the Librarian said and he walked up to Alucard "It is time to wake up, my lord," The master Libran once again pulled out the red crystal and raised it to Alucard's chest and it once again began to shine a brilliant red light. The light-filled the area.
Castlevania, Alucard's Coffin chamber
Alucard's eyes snapped open and he threw open the coffin lid. He jerked up and began panting heavily as sweat ran down his face. He quickly looked around for any kind of threat or clue that he was safe and not burning at the stake. Only to find that he was no longer restrained and tied to a pole above a raging fire. He was back in his coffin inside Castlevania and the Master Librean was standing next to him with cupping a Red crystal in his hands.
Alucard stared at the old archivist, still in shock and trying to process what had just happened.
"Master…welcome back," the Librarian said giving a slight bow.
"L…Librean…what is…" Alucard didn't finish the question as A ghostly blue cloaked figure hovered above his coffin for a second, an evil smile on his face. The Librarian narrowed his eyes, however, the figure faded out of existence before either Alucard or the Libran could do anything. Alucard stared at the spot in shock.
"What was that?" Alucard asked. He was still in shock from the sudden waking.
"That was
"My lord you must listen. The Justice League are in terrible danger,"
Alucard's' eyes snapped to the Master Librarian. Gone was the shock and fear that was there seconds ago, the confusion and disorientation faded from his expression and was replaced with a mixture of seriousness and great concern for those Alucard cared about.
"Tell me everything," Alucard commanded in a no-nonsense tone.
Watchtower Monitor womb
Batman was typing away at the Justice League computer console, he was looking up information on Jon Dee's arrest and prison file. So far as he could tell, Dee had been at the wrong place and wrong time and his time in prison had been well spent. He seemed to be a model prisoner and even had volunteered to help test some experimental machine that supposedly was to help research into Telepathic and ESP abilities. Despite this, Dee had been denied parole and bail on multiple occasions. Batman suspected that Luthor may have had something to do with that, but he had no proof.
Dee also had a wife that had filed for divorce a few months ago, Batman supposed she could not take the stress of her husband in prison, and with no chance of him getting out, she had moved on. Batman made leaned to write down the address and decided that Dee's ex-wife would be his first stop.
Just as he finished, Batman's head snapped up and stared at the computer screen. The dark knight narrowed his eyes. He could have sworn he just saw a Skull painted face with a blue hood on the screen. Batman looked around; he was alone in the monitor womb. He knew the other Justice League members had all reiterated with those who had homes planetside had returned to them.
He let out a sigh.
"Must be more tired than I thought," Batman mumbled. Perhaps Superman was right, perhaps he needed a few hours of sleep, after all, he was just as burnt out as the other…although he would never admit it.
Batman turned away from the screen and rubbed his eyes with his fingers. He did want to sleep but he still had work to do. As he lowered his hand a familiar black pillar of flames appeared a few feet away from him. Batman raised an eyebrow, he had no idea what Alucard would be doing back on the tower, after all, he had left an hour ago to get some rest back at his castle.
When the flames disappeared, Batman saw Alucard was panting heavily and looked terrible, his normally straight and neat hair was out of place and he was not wearing his usual long black coat or his cape. They were missing leaving him with a white long-sleeved undershirt and his pants. His sword was not attached to his hip like it usually was, instead, he held it by its sheath just under the hilt of the blade.
Batman noted that Alucard's gloves were also missing. He glanced at the vampires' hands and was slightly surprised that Alucard had human-looking fingernails. Batman always assumed Alucard had had claws or something and that was the reason he wore gloves. That was not the case.
Overall, it looked like Alucard had just woken up on the wrong side of the bed…er Coffin after late-night drinking.
"Alucard? What are you doing back?" Batman asked. He then took in Alucard's appearance and the fact that the vampire looked like he was barely standing. "Where's your coat and cape? In fact, what happened to you?"
"Where are…where are the others?" Alucard demanded.
"sleeping in their rooms, why?" Batman asked.
"We need to wake them now," Alucard urged as Alucard stagged over to Batman.
Batman grabbed Alucard by the arm and helped him sit in the chair. "Slow down, what happened?" he asked once the vampire was seated "why do you look this?"
"I was just attacked,"
"Attacked? In your castle…at the bottom of the ocean," Batman stated flatly.
"Yes,"
"Are they still alive or do we have to down and bring the bodies up?"
"No, they…"
Batman groaned. He did not need this right now. "Look if you can prove it was self-defence, we can avoid a repeat of…previous incidents,"
"You do not understand, there was no one in the castle, I was attacked in my dreams,"
"Vampires dream?" Batman asked skeptically.
"not regularly when we sleep no, but I do…on occasion. I think it's a by-product of my human side,"
"Fair enough. Why do you believe you were attacked in your dreams?"
"Because I dreamed of my mothers' death,"
"You sure it wasn't a nightmare?"
"It was more than that, I saw my mother's execution," Alucard said "she burned in front of me and then she burned me,"
"Sounds like a nightmare to me," Batman stated
"It was and someone tried to use that against me," Alucard hissed violently.
"I don't mean to sound mean or cruel. But just because you had a nightmare about your mothers' death doesn't mean you were attacked. Humans have dreamed all the time, good and bad,"
"I am aware of that but there was a presence in my dream, turning it from what I remember into what I saw,"
"Remember?" Batman asked. This piqued his interest.
"Yes, I was…there when she died,"
"You...you were there? You were there when your mother was being burned?" Batman gasped. Alucard nodded.
"Her last words to me back then and what I saw in my dream…they were completely different. If it were not for the Master Librarian…I would still be trapped…still burning," Alucard claimed.
"And you think that whatever attacked you is attacking the rest of the league while they sleep?"
"Yes, the Librarian…before he pulled me out of it…he spoke to my assailant and according to him he has the rest of the League trapped within their nightmares," Alucard claimed. Suddenly the vampire leaped out of the chair and grabbed both Batman's arms. Batman would have instantly flipped Alucard on his back or counter, however, the now desperate and fearful look on Alucard's face made stilled his actions. "He plans to torture them until their hearts give out in the real world,"
Batman stared at Alucard, it all sounded so farfetched. A person attacking people in their dreams and trapping them in nightmares until they died. But Alucard looked very desperate and Batman didn't get the feeling Alucard was lying either.
Batman could not take the chance that the league wasn't in danger. After but Dee wasn't a Meta, he had no powers. The closest thing he had was being exposed to a device that… Batman's eyes suddenly went wide in realization.
The research Dee had been assisting within the prison was all about ESP, and he had been exposed to a machine that enhanced brainpower and the day before the prisoners escaped. Dee had been found in the device in a comatose state but he had also escaped not long after. Leaving all the guards who were not assisting with the round up in a similar state. Batman's mind began to piece events together, could the machine have given Dee mental powers of some kind? If so then that meant that Dee had been turned into a Meta and if it happened only days ago then of course no one would have known or registered it on his file.
Dee doesn't get caught, he's overlooked by the League because he is an unknown Meta-Human and now Alucard turns up claiming to be attacked by the only escapee who had not been re-captured…it couldn't be a coincidence.
"Your librarian," Batman spoke in a serious tone "Did he happen to learn the name of the one who attacked you?"
Relief filled Alucard's face, he was glad Batman believed him. After all his claim sounded impossible even to him.
"Jonathan Dee," Alucard answered.
"Shit," Batman swore.
