An I own Nothing.

Bruce emerged in the Batcave, he looked around and nodded in approval. He could defiantly see the appeal of traveling the way Alucard did. He changed out of his Batman costume and headed up to his room. After a quick shower and putting on a very fancy and expensive suit that Alfred had left out for him, he headed downstairs to greet his guests. He checked his watch on the way downstairs.
Ten minutes late, not bad.
Usually, at these events, very few people arrived on time. Those that did were the punctual ones who had either never been invited to these kinds of gatherings or wanted to impress and catch their host before the others arrived.
As Bruce came down the stairs, he noticed Hawk Girl and Green Lantern were already there. They had been the only two who volunteered to come when Batman had passed on the invite. Superman had a previous assignment with Lois, J'onn refused, Wonder Woman claimed she had better things to do than to be paraded around like a mascot. Alucard politely declined, and Flash was immediately discouraged from going by Batman.
Hawk Girl decided to go as she had never been to such a high-class affair and asked Green Lantern to accompany her. Green Lantern didn't want to until Hawk Girl mentioned that she would be un-chaperoned in a billionaire's mansion who was a notorious playboy.
Hawk girl was wearing a strapless red dress that complimented her gold mask and didn't obscure her wings. Green lantern was wearing his Marine Dress blues. Bruce remembered that he had been in the Us Marines before the Green Power Ring had come to him.
The billionaire also noted that Green Lantern looked nervous, likely because of Hawk Girls outfit and the way she was clinging to him. Well, at least he'd have some fun this evening. Bruce caught sight of Alfred and walked over to him.
"Alfred, about what we discussed," he started.
"Everything is prepared sir," Alfred assured "for when the time comes,"
"That won't be necessary," Bruce said. He glanced around and leaned into Alfred's ear "it's not fatal," he whispered.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive, I have it from a very reliable source,"
"And that would be…"
Bruce looked over to Hawk Girl and Green Lantern.
"Someone the league holds in confidence. Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to greet our heroic guests,"
"You're going to embarrass the Green Lantern aren't you," Alfred stated flatly.
"I'm allowed to have some fun at my party," Bruce responded with a devious smile and he walked off.
Alfred sighed and shook his head.
Bruce headed over to where Hawk Girl and Green lantern were, he picked up glasses of Champagne from a passing waiter and approached the two heroes.
"Champagne," he offered and held out the two glasses.
"Thanks," Hawk Girl said and took the glass.
"Uh, sure," Green lantern responded taking his glass too.
"Your right to be scared, by the way," Bruce said.
"Excuse me?" Hawk Girl asked.
"Oh, I didn't mean to offend," Bruce said raising his hands in surrender "I noticed your date was nervous and he's right to be. Some of the people who come to these types of galas can be way scarier than the joker,"
"I highly doubt that," Hawk Girl scoffed.
"And I'm not her date," Green Lantern blushed "I'm just here to make sure a certain billionaire playboy doesn't get any funny ideas with Hawk Girl,"
"I wouldn't worry too much about that," Bruce said and rolled his eyes "Wyne barely comes to his own parties,"
"Really?" Hawk Girl asked.
"Yeah, he has a reputation of being late or sometimes he doesn't even show up," Bruce shrugged "being the eccentric playboy he is also while he does like to play around, he respects others' boundaries. If he shows an interest and you say no, he will respect that,"
"Really?" You're telling me a guy who barely works and has way too money and spends his nights partying and flaunting his money respects rejection,"
"Well yeah, I mean he's not Lex Luthor," Bruce claimed.
"I'll believe that when I see it," Green Lantern huffed.
"You seem to know a lot about Mister Wayne," Hawk Girl
"You could say we're close. Practically grew up together," Bruce claimed.
"Ah, is that how you got an invite to the party?"
"Yep and…I also happen to own a really big internal company with its headquarters in Gotham," Bruce said. "By the would either of you two be interested in a job working for my company?"
"We're a little busy working with the Justice League," Hawk Girl said.
"Oh, I understand that, I was thinking more along the lines on a part-time basis," Bruce said.
"Sorry, but being part of the Justice League means we're always on call," Hawk girl responded.
"We already have a duty, why would you even want us working for you to begin with?" Green Lantern asked, "as publicity?"
"Actually, it had more to do with your ring. It creates whatever you can think of, right?" Bruce asked and pointed to the green power ring on John's finger.
"Yes, but it's not permanent," Green Lantern clarified.
"I was just thinking it could be really useful in engineering," Bruce said.
"How so?"
"Well, if I gave you some blueprints of say… a clean energy generator, you could create a working model of the whatever was with your ring and we'd be able to see if it worked before building the generator itself," Burce explained "it would save a lot of money and cut down costs significantly not to mention you could pull it apart and we'd be able to see where the faults and problems could arise in that generator and come up with solutions before, we even built the thing,"
"That's…actually a really good idea," Hawk Girl admitted "it could be really beneficial in the long run,"
"It's not just engineering projects, you could use your ring for fire drills, safety demonstrations, and many other things. You would still be helping people with the benefit of being paid,"
"It's not a bad proposal I will admit," Green Lantern agreed. He could see the long-term appeal in it "But I'm going to have to decline,"
"If you worried about your Justice League duties, we can work something out," Bruce assured.
"No, it's not that. It's just that it's not just earth I protect, it's the whole solar system and a few galaxies over. A little over half the time I'm not even on earth," Green Lantern claimed "and when I am it's with the league,"
"Ah, I see. Well, if your situation ever changes be sure to give me a call. The offer is always open," Bruce smiled.
"I'll bear that in mind but I wouldn't hold your breath," Green Lantern said "I don't think we got your name,"
"That's because I didn't give it," Bruce smiled back.
"Well, I'm Green Lantern and this is Hawk Girl," Green Lantern introduced "but you knew that already,"
"I did, I heard members of the Justice League might be coming," Bruce agreed. He then took Hawk Girls hand and kissed it "Bruce Wayne,"
"Wait. Your …but …you just..." Hawk Girl spluttered out.
"Ha ha ha, I left two of Earth's heroes lost for words," Bruce laughed "Sorry, I didn't mean to deceive you. I guess I thought you wouldn't talk to me if you knew who I was,"
"Why would you think that?"
"Because of my reputation," Bruce shrugged "also you said it yourself. I'm a rich kid who doesn't work has way too much money and flaunts it around,"
"I uh…didn't mean that," Green Lantern said embarrassed.
"It's fine, the truth is I admire you and the justice leagues work," Bruce said "I live in a city where crime is running rampant. I don't have powers so I can't do anything to make the city better,"
"You don't need powers to be a hero," Hawk girl claimed "Believe it or not Batman doesn't have any powers and he is the most respected member of our team,"
"But Batman is scary as hell, have you ever been in a dark room with him? It's not pleasant," Bruce said and then shuddered.
"That is true, he is very scary," Hawk Girl agreed.
"Now I am curious to know how you ended up in a dark room with Batman,"
"About a year and a half ago, there was a type of penicillin that was being given to children with a very highly addictive substance that was making sick with severe withdrawal symptoms that was being mass-produced and disturbed by my company," Bruce said "Batman showed up at my office one night and…well let's just say he had some questions,"
"Were you making children sick?" Green Lantern asked seriously.
"No, my company was not producing it. At the time I was looking into it, but none of my branches or pharmaceutical researchers were producing such a drug. When Batman paid me a visit, I told him that too. He demanded he look at my company's records and I let him, anything that didn't involve personal records that is. Turns out Count Vertigo was using my company's name to brand it and sell it. Batman caught him and cleared my company's name," Bruce explained "I still get a little bad press about it every now and then,"
"Is that why you put on this gala and invited the League?" Hawk Girl asked, "So that the press would see you with heroes and no longer view you as a bad guy?"
"Not really, to be honest, I'm not a big fan of these parties, I do them because it benefits those who aren't as fortunate as myself in Gotham," Bruce admitted.
"How so?"
"A majority of the people who come to my galas are rich and very influential, not as much as me and despite how things may look a lot of them couldn't care less about the state of Gotham. But they do care about status and the influence I have. So, I put these galas in one. The rich sawm to it and donate money to the charities in hopes of impressing me or gaining my influence…Its honestly disgusting," Bruce said "But that money does help those who need it so I keep doing it,"
"It's like being on display and paraded around," Green Lantern commented.
"I guess it is," Bruce agreed.
"Funny, when the league were discussing who would come here tonight, Wonder Woman declined because she didn't want to be put on display as an object,"
"Sounds like she's met Gotham's higher class already," Bruce joked. He then looked over his shoulder a lot of people had arrived during the time he had been talking to the two Justice League members.
"More people have arrived, time to put myself on display for them," Bruce chuckled "Enjoy your evening and I hope we can talk again,"
Bruce made his rounds, speaking to other guests, complimenting the women, and flirting with them. While subconsciously keeping an eye out for any potential vampire attacks. After about an hour he started to feel the onset of a headache.
Bruce winced and he excused himself from the group of people he was speaking with. He went over to the drinks table and downed some water but it didn't help. The headache started to feel worse, he picked up a glass of red wine when he heard a familiar voice behind him.
"Excuse me, Mister Wayne?" a sweet voice said. had been on the rooftop with the other night.
Bruce turned to see the same young woman that he and Cat Woman had met on the rooftop. When he'd first been experiencing the migraines. Now that she was practically right next to him, Bruce felt very dizzy and his vision blurred a bit. He really hoped he wasn't going to pass out again.
The woman seemed to notice Bruce's discomfort.
"Are you alright Mister Wayne?" she asked.
Bruce nodded took a deep breath and gave her the best smile he could muster.
"Yes, sorry had a bit too much wine tonight," he lied.
"I see, perhaps you should have some water instead,"
"I don't think it's a good idea for the host not to drink at his own party," Bruce joked "I'll just hold on to this one and sip it occupancy,"
"That's a good idea,"
"I'm sorry I don't think we've been introduced; you know my name but I don't believe I've seen you at my galas before,"
"That is because I don't usually come," the woman said and she stepped forward and held out her hand "Seriately Forno, I run the Sirus Foundation,"
Bruce knew that was a fake name, from what Alucard had told him he was face to face with Lenore of Styria. Alucard had informed him about the sisterhoods ability's and he claimed that Lenore was the weakest in terms of Vampiric power, but that did not mean she wasn't extremely dangerous.
"Well, it's a pleasure to finally meet you, Miss Forno," Bruce said and shook her hand. It was cold, even under the nice arm length gloves "I hear you're quite elusive,"
"Not really, I'm just extremely busy," Lenore smiled "Every time I get an invitation to events like this something always gets in the way and I have to send a proxy,"
"I completely understand," Bruce said "I was informed you would be sending a proxy but changed at the last minute. What changed your mind?"
"As I said I can get extremely busy, I had a little bit of a family crisis on, but it unexpectedly resolved itself. So, I decided I was due for a night out and here I am,"
"Well, I for one am glad you're here, I hope your family is alright,"
"They're fine, my long-lost sister who disappeared a while ago recently returned to us. I and my two other sisters have been helping her settle. Finding a place to live and such,"
"Your sister disappeared when?"
"When we were younger, it feels like centuries ago to be honest," Lenore joked "but she's back now and that is all that matters,"
"I'm glad," Bruce said and took a sip of his wine. He noted the piece of information away for later. He'd have to ask Alucard about the vampire's missing sister.
"So, tell me about the Sirus Foundation," Bruce said, changing the subject.
"It's nothing big, mainly to help the women of Gotham who are in trouble or homeless," Lenore claimed "we shelter for women who have fallen on rough times or need help,"
"I heard that the Sirus foundation doesn't allow men through their doors. Why is that exactly?"
"Because it is the men in Gotham who hurt them. I am not saying all men are bad but virtually all those who come to my foundation for help have been hurt in some way by a man," Lenore explained "and not letting men into the foundation, that has only happened recently,"
"How recent?"
"In the last 4 years. Before that, we still mainly focused on women, but we did allow men in as well," Lenore explained "but only those who needed aid,"
"Why the change,"
"It's a sad story really, one of the men we let in attacked one of our women. Turns out they had disguised themselves as a homeless person to get into the Sirus foundation to find their partner who had come to us for help,"
Bruce looked at Lenore sadly. He knew where this story was going and it now made sense why the Sirus foundation kept men out. It wasn't a sexist thing; it was for safety. Just as the Sirus foundation had always claimed.
"That…must have been tough, the woman who was attacked was she okay?"
"No, she was killed, that man then started to go after the others, after this incident we closed our doors the men and the ones we had there we gave them 2 days to leave on their own. Most were understanding but…some weren't,"
Bruce nodded.
"Am I right to assume that you had to remove them by force?"
"We threatened but it never came to that," Lenore answered "after the 2 days, those that hadn't left did very quickly,"
"How did you manage that?"
"We started to renovate the rooms they used for sleeping and got rid of all the men's toilets and other necessities. They complained of course but we had given them notice to leave and well…they did in end,"
"Creative," Bruce approved and sipped some more wine.
As he sipped his wine his migraine became unbearable and Bruce could no longer hide the pain. He suddenly was no longer able to stand, he felt very weak he lost strength in his legs. It was only thanks to his quick reflexes in steadying himself on the table that he didn't completely fall over.
"Mister Wayne are you alright?" the server asked concerned.
Bruce didn't answer, he started to breathe heavily as
"Oh dear," Lenore said and she took Bruce's wine glass and handed it to the server, "I think he's had a little too much to drink. Could you please get him some weather and I will take him outside for some fresh air,"
"Of course, my lady," the server said and hastily poured a large glass of water for her.
Bruce didn't want to go anywhere with Lenore Forno, he knew she was a vampire. It was like every time she spoke, he could feel part of her in his mind, but at the same time, his migraines spiked. Alucard's had told him this was his still developing immunity fighting back. But he couldn't say anything, he glanced looked over in the direction of where he had last seen Hawk Girl and Green Lantern. They appeared to be still standing at least but both were gripping their heads and didn't look well.
Bruce's only conclusion was that it was because the vampire was not talking to them. Alucard had said the league members should be in the later stages of developing the immunity by now but they weren't completely immune yet and until they were he and the others would have this kind of reaction.
Bruce mentally wished Alucard had taken up the invite to the party. But he knew that Alucard didn't feel comfortable being the centre of attention. He also hadn't had the opportunity to slip away and meet up with Alucard who would be bringing him away to restrain the vampire. He couldn't fight her either, not only was he in no condition to do so but if he did fight Lenore at his Gala it would raise too many questions.
Bruce Wayne was a playboy, if there was an attack or criminal activity while he was out, he was known for being a coward and fleeing…like a normal person would. There could be no link to Bruce Wayne and Batman, his mission to save Gotham depended on it.
"Come on Mister Wayne, let's get some air," Lenore said. She put her arm around his waist. Bruce felt himself being lifted slightly and being carried out towards a balcony. To anyone else, it looked like normal behaviour for the playboy.
Once they were outside Lenore tossed the water over the balcony and threw the glass away before smiling at Bruce.
"Stimme ist Kuss," Lenore said seductively. she immediately pulled Bruce's tie and kissed him on the lips. Bruce Fought back and pushed her off him.
Unfotualtly Lenore let go and Bruce crumbled to the ground. Bruce glared up at her in defiance. He didn't want to have to resort to this, but he would need to call for help. After all, Lenore would have a hard time explaining what was happening, he opened his mouth to call out but nothing came out. Only raspy gasps.
Lenore watched with a smile and suddenly Bruce started to cough and gag. He could feel something working its way up to his throat, combined with the intense migraine that was getting worse by the second. Bruce had
A small light came out of his mouth and Bruce watched it float upwards. Lenore reached into her purse and pulled out a powder box, she opened it and the light flew in; once it was in, she snapped it shut.
"That's better," she said.
Bruce tried once more to shout but nothing came out. He grabbed his neck, feeling for any damage in his throat but found none. He looked up at Lenore in confusion and as much a Bruce hated to admit it; fear.
"It's a spell that steals voices away," Lenore answered. She knew what Bruce was trying to ask "have you ever seen the Little Mermaid? I found the character Ursula to be quite…interesting. She reminded me so much of my sister Carmila, however, I had I was impressed with how effective her spell to steal the princess's voice was. So, I created my own version of it,"
Bruce wanted to fight her, wanted to but another spike of the migraine in his mind had him gripping his head with both hands and squeezing his eyes shut. He would have cried out if he still had his voice.
"Oh, poor little Bat," Lenore said and she knelt down "It's such a shame you contracted that pesky, but don't worry. I know away to get what I and my sisters need,"
She picked Bruce up and flung her over her shoulder like a sack and she flew off into the night with him. Bruce could only watch as his home became smaller and smaller on the horizon.
Gotham City Police department
Commissioner Gorden opened the door that led out to the roof of the police department. He had a folder under his arm and held a thermos filled with hot coffee. Once out on the roof, he headed for the bat signal. He put the thermos aside and was about to turn it on when he suddenly felt eyes on him.
He let out a sigh, assuming that the Dark Knight was already here.
"I haven't even turned on the signal yet," the commissioner said and he turned around to face who he assumed was Batman "How did you even know I was…JUEASES!" the Commissioner yelled.
Sitting on the roof of the stairwell with legs crossed over and hanging down was not Batman as the Commissioner had assumed. There was still a dark figure dressed in black however this one didn't wear a mask. Alucard sat there staring at the Commissioner. The Commissioner could not help but stare up into golden eyes that looked down at him.
"My apologies…I did not intend to startle you," Alucard apologised.
"You're not Batman," the Commissioner stated.
"No…I am not,"
"What are you doing up here?" he asked.
Alucard turned his head and looked out over the city.
"Waiting for Batman…he requested an Item. I was told he would meet me here when his other engagement was complete," Alucard explained.
"What Item?" the commissioner asked.
Alucard looked back at the Commissioner reached into his coat and produced two thin silver bracelets.
"Fancy, what does he need those for?"
"I do not think I should tell you," Alucard responded.
"Why not, they're not dangerous are they,"
"Not to him or you…no," Alucard stated.
"But dangerous to someone,"
"Yes,"
"Whatever, he's not here,"
"I can see that," Alucard said and looked back over the city once more "do you know how long he will be? I do not wish my presence in this city known,"
"How long have you been waiting?"
"Around ten Minutes," Alucard answered.
"Well, I don't think you have to worry unless you pissed off the local crime families, the Joker, or any of the other wack jobs we've got in the city,"
"I came straight here from an old friends house," Alucard claimed "the only person I have interacted with is you,"
"You'll be fine then who the hell would notice you in that such short amount of time?"
"Hmm…you would be surprised…I should not linger" Alucard responded.
They stayed there in relative silence. The Commissioner pulled his file up and looked at it, however his back never turned away from Alucard nor did he turn his back to him. Alucard seemed to be more interested in looking out over the city than anything else.
Gordan had to wonder who this person was, Batman's partners tended to be younger and while Gordan knew that Batman now worked with the Justice League, the dark Knight had made it very clear that Gotham was off-limits to the other heroes. For good reason.
Which begged the question, who was this figure and why did Batman ask him to bring him some bracelets. Knowing he would not get an answer out of the Dark Knight, Grodan supposed there was no harm in trying this stranger.
"You're not one of Batman's regular partners," the Commissioner commented.
"Batman has partners?" Alucard asked in slight surprise.
Okay, so Batman kept everyone in the dark, good to know it wasn't just him.
"Yeah, they're usually young though. No offense but your too old," Gorden claimed, "so who are you to Batman?"
"I am his ally, though he is often…difficult to communicate with,"
"Tell me about it," the Commissioner muttered.
Alucard smiled.
"What about you?" Alucard asked, "are you, his ally?"
"I guess," the Commissioner shrugged "I mean I like to think so, I send him info on strange cases or if one of Arkham residents escapes or causes trouble. He helps solve them and then we make the arrest,"
"Would that not put you in danger?"
"It's not a secret that I work directly with him, that is true," Gordan agreed "And it has, on quite a few occasions I've been targeted by those who thought they could use me against him or that I know who Batman is,"
"Do you?"
"No, and quite frankly I don't want to know who he is under the mask," Gordan claimed "He does his best work from the shadows and that is what the city needs, and I understand why he hides the way he does,"
Alucard nodded, he looked over his shoulder for a brief moment before turning to look at the Commissioner before he pushed himself off the stairwell roof and floated down, the Commissioner took a step back as he watched this display and when Alucard landed he walked over to stand next to the Gordan.
"You are good man…I am glad to see they still exist," Alucard said.
"Thanks," the Commissioner responded. He wasn't sure what to make of this strange person.
"That is why I will now save your life," Alucard finished.
"What do you…" Gordan didn't get to finish the sentence as Alucard's hand suddenly shot up and grabbed a black steel arrow out of the air. It was inches from Gordan's eye.
Gordan could not help but stumble back, however, he regained his composure and pulled out his ducked down, and moved to the stairwell for cover, he drew his gun and looked around for the sniper. Alucard didn't move he was too busy studying the arrow carefully, it was not made out of wood.
"Get down," Gordan hissed.
"Why?"
"The sniper could still be out there,"
Alucard blinked and once again turned to look behind him "He's over there," Alucard pointed at a rooftop at least three blocks away.
Gordan stared at Alucard.
"You can see him? From here?" the Commissioner asked in shock.
"Yes…would you like me to go bring him to you?"
"Can you do that?"
Alucard grinned and walked to the edge of the building and leaped off. Gordan cursed, he risked being shot again if he left the stairwell. Alucard flew over to where the sniper was and when he arrived the sniper was already trying to leave. Alucard easily caught up with him just as the sniper laded in the alleyway. Alucard landed in front of him. The sniper reacted by drawing their bow and arrow and pointing it at Alucard.
Alucard simply raised an eyebrow, unfazed at the threat.
The sniper was a man of medium height, dressed all in black. Unlike other heroes, however, he did not have a cape. He did however wield a bow and had a quiver filled with arrows on his back.
"Get out of my way," Black Arrow demanded.
"No,"
"How did you see me?"
"I used my eyes," Alucard responded "I also heard the arrow fly through the air and well…once I knew the direction it was easy to locate you,"
"You're a Meta, aren't you?" Black Arrow assumed.
"I have been told that is my classification now," Alucard answered "why were you targeting that older gentleman,"
"Because Batman needs to pay for our last encounter, he took something valuable from me. So, I am merely returning the favour," the Black Arrow claimed.
"I believe had you succeeded you would have only caused Batman to hunt you down," Alucard stated.
"Look I have nothing against you. I'm only here to kill Gorden, walk away and I won't have to kill you either,"
"Sorry, but I cannot let kill this man," Alucard said.
"Fine, I'll kill your fist," Black Arrow released his arrow however in a split second Alucard once again swiped it out of the air.
Black Arrow immediately jumped backward and fired three more times, aiming at three different vital areas on Alucard. Alucard however caught each arrow walking ever closer with each arrow he swiped out of the air. He raised clenched fists holding and holding them out.
"Sorry did you want these back?" He asked politely.
"Well shit," The Black Archer swore. Suddenly Alucard glowed red and he instantly appeared next to Black Arrow. The Vampire smacked him on the back of the neck, the blow was strong enough to knock the assassin out with a single strike. Once they had fallen Alucard slung their body over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and flew back to the top of the Police building where he had left Commissar Gorden.
Alucard landed in front of the stairwell.
"I found this archer… he was trying to kill you," Alucard stated "Where should I put him?"
"Uh…just on the ground is fine," Gordan responded.
Alucard dropped the archer on the rooftop and Gordan very carefully made his way forward and began to arrest the unconscious archer. "Thanks for this," Gordan said "Malcolm was not what I wanted to talk to Batman about but…"
While the Commissioner was talking something caught Alucard's attention and he immediately launched himself into the air.
When Gordan looked up there was no sign of Alucard. Just an empty rooftop.
"So, he is friends with batman," Gordan joked.
With Bruce
Lenore landed in an empty field, she'd flown for a while and she and Bruce had left the city of Gotham a fair while ago. Once she landed, she threw Bruce to the ground, she watched as he quickly got up and looked around.
Bruce didn't recognise the area. It was outside of Gotham's city limits and far from the main road as he could not see or hear any signs of traffic. He looked at his captor, the mask of Bruce Wayne instantly vanishing and being replaced with the serious stoic Batman look. Even though he didn't have his cowl on. Bruce was going to make her regret bringing him all the way out here. His only consolation was that he had the foresight to put in his pocket a remote activate for the Bat Computer. He always had one on him.
He reached into his pocket and activated it. Once he did, he rushed at the vampire. He knew this was likely not a good plan but he had no other option. If he could stall her until the Batmobile arrived then he would have a chance.
Unfortunately, the vampire merely dodged each blow. She didn't even comment try to get him to stop. Lenore simply smiled. Bruce was mentally cursing himself; he should be better than this, faster, more coordinated. But he was being held back by his never-ending migraine. After a minute Bruce no longer had the energy to stand. His Adrenaline that had been the result of the abduction had worn off and now he couldn't stand anymore.
The Vampire walked over to him and simply gave him a slight push. However, Lenore was not holding back her strength, and Bruce was blown back into a nearby tree. He slammed into it. He would have moaned if he could make any sound. Instead, he coughed. He felt like he'd just been hit by one of Supermans lighter punches.
Lenore walked over to him and lifted him up by the neck.
"I could have told you that that was pointless, but at least now you've worked that Adrenaline out of your system," she said.
Bruce only glared at her. He knew there would be no point in trying to speak.
"Now then, I don't believe you owe me a drink," Lenore said. She opened her mouth, Bruce tensed for a moment as fangs pierced into his neck, however, the pain was immediately replaced with pleasure.
Bruce's eyes dilated as his body relaxed. His mind was screaming at him to fight back, but he couldn't, he didn't have the will and he started to feel weak, weaker than before as this woman sucked on his neck and drained his blood.
As Lenore drank from the billionaire's neck her keen hearing heard something moving at hi-speed. This was the only warning she got and she quickly pulled away from Burce as the blade flew through the air. Had she not moved it would have gone through her neck. She dropped her prey and hissed violently as a sword floated protectively in front of Bruce.
All of a sudden, Alucard dropped from the sky. Landing next to his floating blade and in front of the now very out of its billionaire.
"Leanore," Alucard greeted in anger.
"Oh hello, Prince Adrian…or do you go by Alucard now?" Lenore said sweetly.
"What do you think you are doing?" Alucard demanded.
"I was conducting a business transaction,"
"Looked to me like you were draining him dry,"
"That was part of the business transaction," Lenore claimed.
Bruce was dazed, he wasn't entirely sure what was going on, his vision was blurry and the voices that were speaking were jumbled together. All he was sure of was he was there was someone tall in front of him, blocking the way to the Vampire. The only thing he could defiantly feel was his migraine. Whatever Lenore had done had diluted this pain for a moment, but now it was back in full force. He gipped his head and culled up in the fatal position.
Alucard glanced at Bruce, he could tell that he was still alive and that his still developing immunity was causing him great pain. Alucard was impressed that Bruce had not passed out yet.
"He's writhing in pain," Alucard shot back.
"That is hardly my fault," Lenore scoffed "I'm not the one who gave him Gedankenangriffe,"
Alucard clenched his fists.
"What do you want Lenore? why are you and your sisters only now coming out of hiding?"
"Because we just recently got back together," Lenore answered "Do you know how much hatred I have for you for breaking us apart?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Carmilla, she's back,"
"That's not possible Carmilla is in hell," Alucard instated.
"She was, not anymore," Lenore claimed "and as for what we want…well that is simple. We want him," and pointed at Bruce. "Your friend there is quite influential in the modern world. His words hold the weight of a king,"
Alucard looked back at Bruce, he knew the dark Knight influenced the Justice League, but he didn't know it extended to other areas as well. Though he should have realised as Batman was able to set Alucard up with an Identify and get him enrolled in schooling without effort.
"Did you know that Striga was planning to kill him?" Lenore asked. Pulling Alucard's attention back to her "I talked her out of it, we need his influence and power after all,"
"And how did you plan on getting it...he is in the late stages of Rezistența minții and cannot be enthralled,"
"Simple, I planned to turn him of course,"
Alucard felt the blood drain from his face as if he hadn't noticed her flying with a passenger…if he hadn't had followed and instead waited for Batman to meet him on the roof of the police building then...Batman would have been killed, he would have become a vampire.
Alucard suddenly got very defensive, and he didn't notice that the shadows started to move towards him.
"You would make him a vampire?" Alucard hissed angrily.
"Of course, you know as well as I do is death is the only cure for Rezistența minții, at least this way he will be of use to us,"
"And what happens when he outgrows you?" Alucard demanded.
"That will never happen. I and my sisters wouldn't allow it," Lenore answered.
"I'm not going to fight you Alucard, I do not possess the superior strength and speed like you and other vampire lords. My talent lies elsewhere,"
"And what of the Justice League?" Alucard asked, "Do you think Batman's lack of presence will go unnoticed?"
"Of course, it won't. I would still let him out to play with the other children in capes. As long as our needs are fulfilled," Lenore assured "he would be more beneficial to your little band with vampire powers,"
"That is not how I or the League will see it,"
"I suppose we are of different options then," Lenore claimed.
"This is the only warning I will give. Leave Gotham...tonight," Alucard demanded.
"Why? Gotham is a perfect home for our kind, no end of people who won't be missed. Criminals and the corrupt run the city and manage an equally corrupt defense force. My sisters and I would do a far better job of keeping the peace than the actual peacekeepers. Besides, my sisters and I have been in Gotham since it was built besides we ran Styria for years, successfully might I add and my sisters and I held undisputed rulership from other vampire clans and the humans who lived in our lands. We can handle a single city,"
"They lived in fear of you,"
"Humans have always lived in fear Alucard. Centuries ago, it was in fear of vampires and the night. Now they live in fear of themselves," Lenore pointed out "The rise of Metahumans did not come from our world Alucard, it came from the humans and they fear it,"
"Not all humans are afraid of Metas…just like not all humans were afraid of the Night," Alucard argued.
"That is true, there were some who weren't, but a majority were, and look at what happened to them. They were hunted down and killed by their kind. I believe your mother was on the receiving end of humanities fear,"
"Tread Lightly Lenore…I do not mention my mother's death again," Alucard threatened.
"I was not intending to offend, only state facts," Lenore assured "While you were sleeping my sisters and I lived through human history. We have seen it time and time again, the humans always hate and fear the unknown,"
"A little over a week ago I went to a world ruled by fear…this path will not end well for you," Alucard warned.
"We don't want the world Alucard, just Gotham,"
"Gotham is a city, not a country,"
"I know, that is why we would be perfect for the job," Lenore claimed.
"The world has changed Lenore, you cannot simply waltz into a city or town and take over by killing people and staking a claim on the territory,"
"I know, that is why we will simply put our own pawn in play and have them run the city to our standards," Lenore claimed "It would be better of course if that person knew the city. Given how persuasive Bruce Wayne he would be an Idel candidate and the fact we will get all his resources as well as a bonus,"
"That is not going to happen," Alucard declared and he reached out to grab his sword "I will not let you turn him,"
"I don't know why you're against this. Think about it, how many times have those who truly deserve to die been locked up and escaped again in this city?" Lenore asked "Under our rulership, they would never escape and the truly detestable criminals would get what they deserve,"
"So, you would just kill them all? That is not your decision to make," Alucard said
"Of course not, that would be wasteful," Lenore said "besides if we killed all who broke the law, we wouldn't have very much food leftover. No those who truly are beyond saving will be kept alive as a source of blood,"
"I will not let that happen,"
"Why not? Humans kill off perfectly healthy animals to eat all the time," Lenore stated "We are simply doing the same…only to those who deserve it. Everyone in that city is or will become a criminal. Face it Alucard, Gotham is a lost cause,"
She then looked past Alucard to see Bruce had stopped moving, in fact, he hadn't moved for a few minutes now.
"Oh dear, looks like he's finally passed out," Lenore sighed, she folded her arms "honestly Alucard if you are going to infect humans you must be willing to take care of them,"
Alucard looked back at the now unconscious billionaire and then turned back to face Lenore.
"I should not say this…but I am glad he is no longer conscious,"
"Oh, why?" Lenore asked interested.
"He requested that I capture you," Alucard claimed "believed you and your sisters could be contained. I told him the only way to contain you was to leave you on an island surrounded by water…but even then, you would die from starvation eventually,"
"That is foolishly optimistic of him, I trust you told him that doing so was pointless,"
"I did…yet he still insisted,"
"How human of him,"
"Yes, he is foolish, optimistic, and fights for a lost cause…he is human," Alucard said, "and I admire him for it…however…"
Alucard rushed forward and swung his sword wide. Lenore jumped back and hovered in the air. She let out a dangerous hiss.
"Are a monster," Alucard finished. He launched himself into the air, Lenore reached her hand out and started to cast a spell, but a glowing red aura surrounded Alucard and in an instant he vanished, reappearing Behind Lenore, she barely had time to look over her shoulder as Alucard swung his sword and decapitated her.
Lenore's body fell and dissolved into ash. Her body and head were gone before they hit the ground and the ash blew away in the wind.
Alucard sheathed his blade immediately after he made the kill, he wasted no time and flew back down landing next to Bruce. He bent down and checked on Billionaire. He listened to his heart rate and took a few whiffs of his scent and checked his pulse. Bruce was alive, just unconscious from being too close to a full-blooded vampire for so long and likely from blood loss. Now that Lenore was gone, he would recover soon with rest and time.
Alucard felt a little bad going behind Bruce's back, he knew that Batman wanted to capture the sisters alive, however with their plans for him and the confirmation that he was close to developing full immunity. Lenore was right, now the only way for the sisters to get what they wanted was to turn him. Even then there would be no guarantee he would survive long. The sisters of Styria were undisputed rulers of Styria for a reason.
Alucard felt no regret killing her or what he was about to do. However, first, he needed to get Bruce back home safe. Then he would deal with the other three, it concerned him greatly that Carmilla was back and he could only theorise that it happened while he was human. Alucard suddenly heard something hit the ground behind him. He whirled around expecting another enemy, however, it was only the purse Lenore had carried. Alucard ignored it, he didn't care what Lenore had on her; right now, his priority was Batman.
This night had gone horribly wrong.
He walked back over to Batman and gently picked him up and adjusted the man on his back. Using his sheathed swords as a way to keep Bruce seated and leaning up against him. Once Alucard was confident that his sleeping passenger would not fall off he started his flight back to Gotham.
As he was approaching the city, Alucard felt Bruce shift, he beginning to wake up. Alucard was impressed, Bruce should have been out longer, he supposed Lenore hadn't taken as much blood as Alucard assumed. Alucard landed and gently lay him on the ground.
Bruce moaned and Alucard watched as he slowly came too. He placed a steady hand on the man's shoulder to comfort and hold him steady. The moment he did Bruce's' eyes snapped open and he gripped the vampire's arm tightly. It took a moment for Bruce to realise exactly who was kneeling over him.
Recognition filled Bruce's eyes and he relaxed, a bit and dropped his hand. He tried to force himself into a sitting position and Alucard assisted him, his hand went to his throat and he felt his neck. Alucard watched curiously, wondering If Bruce's neck was injured, other than the vampire bite. Bruce looked at Alucard and opened his mouth to say something only for no words to come out.
Alucard continued to watch curiously and with concern. Bruce started making odd hand gestures with his hands, counting his fingers and tapping them against his palm. Alucard was confused, he knew that Batman was not a magician or magically talented and was curious about what Bruce was doing.
When Bruce saw that Alucard didn't recognise or understand Sign Language he stopped and rubbed his hand on his forehead. Bruce suddenly pushed off Alucard and leaned over. He traced his finger in the dirt and started to spell out words on the ground. He knew Alucard would be able to read them.
"I can't make noise," Bruce wrote "Lady did something to me,"
Alucard's head immediately snapped to him and looked at him in concern.
"Explain,"
"Can't said something in German and then kissed me. Light came out and I can't speak anymore,"
"Hmm…likely a spell," Alucard said. Alucard cursed. Of course, Lenore would have done something like that, the vampire was not dead. If she had cast a spell then with Lenore's death it should have been broken. Bruce's voice should have returned.
He looked back the way he came, they were already quite far from where Lenore had taken Bruce to turn him. The only way it wouldn't was if Batman's voice was in a container. He could turn around and go back for it now.
"I believe I can get your voice back. How do you feel?" Alucard asked.
"Dizzy. Tired," Bruce wrote.
"You should continue to rest," Alucard advised.
"Where are we?" Bruce wrote and looked around. Noting the were not long in the field.
"I am taking you home…we are just outside the city limits," Alucard answered.
"My head,"
"Does it still hurt?"
Bruce nodded.
"I am sorry Batman…I can spell you back to sleep to ease the pain if you desire,"
"No. What happened to Lenore?"
"Gone…I killed her,"
"Why?"
"She left me little choice," Alucard answered.
Bruce didn't respond or write anything else, he looked away from Alucard. After a moment he leaned forwards and began to write again.
"You know,"
"That you are Batman? Yes…Worry not, I will not tell anyone," Alucard promised.
"Called Batmobile,"
"You are in no shape to drive,"
"can't let others know. Have to get back,"
"Back to what…where?" Alucard asked.
However, his only answer was for Bruce to grab his head again and he squeezed his eyes shut.
"You are in pain, let me spell you to sleep…when you wake up you will be in your bed,"
Bruce shook his head violently, he didn't want Alucard to put him to sleep, it would raise too much suspicion, he'd already been gone from his gala long enough that Alfred and his other guests would notice. Alucard gave Bruce an understanding look and reached out and gently touched Bruce's forehead "Sleep," he muttered.
Bruce immediately slumped and fell asleep once more as the spell had an instantaneous effect on him. Alucard hoped Bruce would not remember him doing that otherwise, he would not hear the end of it from Batman later. He picked Bruce's pack up and once he was in the same position as before Alucard flew off once more heading into the city of Gotham. He flew in the direction that Lenore had come from, hoping to find and sure enough he picked up the trail. Following it led to a large manner. Alucard could hear a large number of people inside. One, in particular, was muttering about Bruce vanishing from the Balcony.
Alucard looked down and saw an older man looking around outside and calling for Bruce. Alucard smiled and he knew he was in the right place. He flew over the man and headed to the windows. He floated close to them taking in the scents from the inside. When he found a window that had the heavy scent of Batman and the mand he had been carrying, Alucard knew he had found the right room.
Alucard adjusted Bruce carefully and waved a hand, using magic to open the window. Once it was open, he floated in and pulled back the bed covers. He laid the still sleeping Bruce down on the bed, removed his suit jacket and tie. Setting them aside on a hook and pulled the covers up.
Alucard walked back over to the window and used magic to close and lock it so it was as if he was never there. On his way out he spotted the man again. He'd now moved away from the Balcony and was searching the grounds with a torch.
Alucard decided he would put the man out of his misery and he silently floated down behind him.
"Master Bruce where are you?!" Alfred called out. Alfred was beginning to worry, no one had seen Bruce since he went to get some air, which had been almost three hours ago. He turned to look in another direction only to have the torchlight up Alucard.
Alfred gasped and nearly fell back in horror. He had not been expecting anyone out here and Alucard defiantly didn't look like he had attended Bruce Wayne's party.
"Who are you?" Alfred demanded.
"If you are looking for Bruce, you will find him in his bed chamber fast asleep," Alucard informed "Any attempts to wake him will be pointless until the morning,"
"Excuse me sir but how do you know this? Who are you and how did you get on these grounds?" Alfred demanded.
Alucard grinned, his only response was to float upwards and then fly off. Alfred watched him go for a moment, he then ran back inside. He approached the entrance and calmly walked past the hired staff and guests and headed upstairs. Once he was out of sight he ran straight towards Bruce's bedroom and flung open the door.
"Master Bruce," he called out and turned the lights on.
There on the bed, under the covers, was Bruce Wayne. He didn't react at all to Alfred's entrance nor the lights, that was troubling. Alfred breathed a sigh of relief, Bruce appeared to be sleeping soundly in his clothes.
Only his jacket and tie had been removed. Alfred watched and set about removing the rest of the formal attire from Bruce to make him as comfortable as possible. He didn't wake up or respond in any way. Alfred should be concerned but the stranger on the grounds told him it was pointless to try and wake him up at the moment and Alfred had not seen Bruce sleep so soundly in a long time.
Once he was done, he turned the lights off, closed the curtains, and left. Shutting the door behind him, he would have to go downstairs and make an excuse for Bruce's guests.
But that was okay, he was used to it.
