I had a lot of fun writing this chapter and coming up with Ember's wand combination, I made sure to look up what the different wand woods and cores meant and choose the ones that best fit with who I feel Ember is. Let me know if you agree that these things suit her.
AchroniaSamara chapter 12 . Jun 6
which Last Name is she actually using outside? I doubt she would like to use Potter anymore after how she was treated there
Me: She's going to be using the Ravenclaw name, this way she keeps all her advantages without losing the element of surprise that her being Lady Peverell is
Onto the story!
It had been several years since the Aurors had searched the grounds of Peverell Manor and much had changed.
Ember's store in Hogsmead had finally opened and was an instant hit with just about everyone. Ember's prediction that her store would bring more customers to the small village was true as well. Several shopkeepers silently thanked the store for bringing in more customers and therefore more money for the rest of them.
Her store in the muggle world was doing good as well, she had several people who had wanted to try and buy shares in her store but were told that at this time she wasn't selling. This was because Ember was sure that any shareholders would want to know how she had made the electronics she was selling, not to mention they would find out that she was only 10 going on 11 tomorrow.
Pearl had slowly managed to get the fashion of the wizarding world out of the medieval era, she still had a lot of work to get it to the 21st century but it was much better than it used to be just a couple of years ago.
Ember had even opened a small gym that Jasper decided to work in. Jasper could work out and help other people get fit to her heart's content. It wasn't as popular as her stores but Ember kept it going for the few that went, as well as for Jasper since she seemed to love the gym and her Job.
Ember had been toying with the idea of making another gem before she decided that she should wait until she was older to make any more Gems. While she didn't regret Jasper or Pearl she also remembered how hard it was to break their hero worship.
Ember didn't realize that the two gems still saw her as a goddess that gave them life and wanted to pretend to be mortal.
But today was her 11th birthday and her small family was celebrating the way they have every year.
It had become a tradition to have a big birthday breakfast before opening gifts and then go spend the day out of the house doing something fun. Last year the three of them went to see a few movies at a local theater. She was already planning on a way to make a magical theater for the wizarding world.
Just as the small family finished breakfast an Owl flew into the room and dropped a letter. Ember picked it up and smiled widely, "It's my Hogwarts letter!"
She took a closer look and frowned at the name on it.
Ember Viola Potter Black Slytherin Ravenclaw Emrys Peverell
Dining room
Slytherin Manor
Ember signed and was thankful that the letters were written and sent by magic and not a person. She was also thankful that the Goblins told her this might happen and to cross out the name on the envelope and write her preferred name before opening it. This way the magic will register the preferred name and change the register.
What most people didn't know was that if you had more than one last name then you could choose which you prefer to go by as well.
Grabbing a pen she crossed out her name and wrote the name she decided to use right above it.
Ember Viola Ravenclaw
Ember Viola Potter Black Slytherin Ravenclaw Emrys Peverell
Dining room
Slytherin Manor
After doing that she ripped open the letter and started to read it happily.

Nodding Ember wrote down that she accepted on the back of the first page and handed it back to the owl and watched it fly away.
"Looks like we're going shopping today," Pearl mumbled softly, eyeing the list with distaste, it wasn't the entire list, it was the uniform portion that she was eyeing.
"Don't make that face Pearl, we both know that you could make a much better uniform but you also know that the people in charge of Hogwarts are still stuck in their ways. Especially Dumbledore and McGonagall."
She sighed before nodding, "You're right my Diamond, I just wish they were made out of better quality material if nothing else." Ember hummed in agreement, eyeing her list before she smirked. "You know my dear Pearl, it never says what the Uniform has to be made out of or where a student gets it? Why don't we buy the requared amount and then you make me extra? We will, of course have to make it look exactly like the regular uniform but I think you can do it."
Pearl looked excited, this was a way to get around the stupid uniforms. She just knew that with better material they would look so much better.
Ember chuckled and shook her head fondly, walking up to Jasper and leaving Pearl to try and figure out what would be best to make the uniform out of.
Jasper smiled and took Ember to the Alley, they went to the trunk store first so they had something to put her new objects in. Sure they had plenty of these things at home but Ember decided it was time to upgrade her things. Not to mention Pearl still hadn't moved out of her old trunk room so Ember was going to be leaving that in her room at Slytherin Manor.
Ember once again asked for a nine-compartment trunk. One compartment held an entire flat. She hadn't known that this was something that they could do last time so she never asked. This time she did know and decided to ask for it since she was upgrading.
The flat had two bedrooms, one master bathroom, and one normal bath for any guests that she had over. There was a study, kitchen, and small dining area. It wasn't the biggest but it would work for what she needed while at Hogwarts.
Another compartment was made into a library, another into a potions lab. The fourth compartment was made into a lab for her to experiment with electronics and anything else to her heart's desire.
The fifth compartment was made into a wardrobe, this was so she didn't have to keep going to her flat to grab her clothes. The sixth compartment was made into a Gym and the seventh was made into a training area where she could practice with her swords and martial arts.
The eighth compartment was turned into a storage area where she could keep any knickknacks she picked up in it, things like sugar quills and whatnot. The ninth compartment was set up to hold all her quills, parchment, pens, pencils, notebooks, and everything else.
Ember asked for the trunk to only open for her, to be charmed safe from being destroyed, and to shrink and unshrink with a touch of a wand or even a finger if someone knew wandless magic.
After Ember and Jasper were done in the trunk shop they went to go get her robes, sadly there was someone else already being measured and Ember recognized them. It was the younger Malfoy, someone who Ember wasn't sure she wanted to be associated with.
She hopped up onto the other platform and let one of the other shop attendants start measuring her for her robes. Malfoy decided to take this time to strick up a conversation.
"Hello, Hogwarts too?"
Ember just nodded in response but otherwise stayed quiet, hoping he would take the hint.
"I don't think they should let that other sort in do you?"
She sighed and looked at him, "If by 'Other sort' you mean Muggle-borns then please keep those thoughts to yourself, yes some of them can be rude but so can purebloods."
Draco sneered at her, "Oh so you're one of the light sides people-" Ember cut him off. "When on earth did I say that? Do not put words in my mouth Malfoy, you will soon find that not even your daddy's money can save you if someone with a more, important family line comes along."
After that Ember then jumped down off the platform since she was done being measured, she ordered the standard Hogwarts package for clothes before she left, leaving Malfoy glaring after her.
Ember asked Jasper to take her to the potions shop next, while there she updated all of her tools. She got new scales, caldrons, knives, and everything she could to replace the ones she already had. She had been meaning to do this for a while but had put it off until today.
Someone was supposed to replace some of these tools every few years, not many people realized this.
Ember also bought several of the first-year potion starter kits along with some of the more rare ingredients. She would not give up experimenting with things just because she was going to school.
She got a telescope next, and she decided to get both a magical and a muggle telescope, the magical one was just in case she wouldn't be allowed to use her muggle one even if it would be so much better.
The two gems went to the bookshop next and picked up any books Ember didn't have yet, she didn't restrict herself to only school books, no, she bought one of every single book she didn't have.
After she finished paying for the books she went to the owl emporium to look around and found the most majestic white owl ever, she named her Hegwid and bought her anything an Owl could ever want. Jasper was a bit surprised since her Diamond never seemed to want a pet before.
Finally, it was time for Ember to get her wand. The two gems walked into the wand shop and right away there was a problem. The owner, Mister Ollivander, had decided to sneak up behind them and try to scare the two of them. Sadly Jasper was very protective and when spooked by anyone other than Pearl, Her Diamond or the elves tended to punch first and ask questions later.
This led to Jasper swearing and Ember apologizing to Ollivander before lecturing him on sneaking up on people like that. He eyed the both of them while rubbing his jaw before he got to work.
"Which hand is your wand hand?"
"I'm right handed, though if needed I can use my left hand without it being a disaster." He hummed and handed her a wand, he snatched it away when the window shattered.
"No, no not this one."
He had her try basically every wand in the store, by the end of it even he was looking tired and annoyed instead of his happy and excited self when finding out he had a tricky customer.
Ollivander rubbed his chin in thought before nodding, "It seems that you're in need of a custom wand come with me to my workshop and we will get started." He then turned and walked to the back of the store, Ember looked at Jasper with a raised eyebrow before they both followed the old man.
He led them to a room with more shelves and a giant cauldron in the middle. On one side of the room the shelves were filled with blocks of wood, on the other side were different wand cores in glass jars that were preserving them.
There was a small section of the room that held different gem types, Ember was a bit confused about this but stayed silent for now.
"Lady Peverell-" Ember jerked and looked up at him with wide eyes that soon turned into a glare, behind her she could feel Jasper tense and get ready to give the guy another punch
"Oh do calm down, I have a magical ability that lets me know exactly who comes through my door to buy one of my wands. I can swear on my magic that I will not tell Albus or anyone else that Ember Potter is actually Lady Peverell."
"Magical oath now and then we can talk." Jasper snapped, silently placing herself in front of Ember.
"Very well." Ollivander then took his wand out and pointed it at the ceiling as he spoke. "I, Garrick Ollivander, do hearby swear on my life and magic that I will not tell anyone who Lady Peverell is unless given permission by Lady Peverell, so i swear so mote it be." He then put his wand away as soon as it had shown the oath had been taken.
"Now, Lady Peverell what I need you to do is close your eyes and walk near the blocks of wood. Hold you hand out over each one while feeling with your magic, please pick up any that your magic reacts too."
Ember shrugged and walked over to the shelves of wood and did as he said, she closed her eyes and reached out with her magic to feel each wood block that her hand hovered over. She managed to find four blocks of wood that her magic reacted to before she turned and walked back to Ollivander and Jasper who were standing next to a small desk he had in the room.
She placed the wooden blocks down on the desk and Ollivander stared at them surprised and awed. "Marvilous."
Jasper was the one to ask what both her and her Diamond had been wondering. "What's Marvilous?"
Ollivander picked up one of the blocks and spoke. "This is Cherry wood, this wood is very rare for wands. A wand made out of this is said to have a strange power, wands made out of cherry wood are highly prized in the school of Mahoutokoro in Japan, where those who own cherry wands have special prestige."
"Several people believe that the pink blossom of this wood makes it frivolous or ornamental, do not make the same mistake my lady, wands of cherry often make a wand that possesses truly lethal power, whatever the core, thought if paired with dragon heartstring the wand ought never to be teamed with a wizard without exceptional self-control and strength of mind."
He placed the block of cherry wood down and picked up the next.
"This is Acacia, it is a very unusual wand wood. I have found that this wood makes tricky wands that often refuse to produce magic for any but their owner. It also likes to withhold its full power from all those but the most gifted."
Ollivander once again placed the block of wood down and picked up the next in the line of wooden blocks Ember's magic had chosen.
"This is applewood, these wands are not made in great numbers. They are powerful and best suited to an owner of high aims and ideals, as this wood mixes poorly with Dark magic. The owners of these wands are often well-loved and long-lived. The owners of these wands often find that they have an unusual ability to converse with other magical beings in their native tongues."
He set the block of applewood down and picked up the last block.
"This is a block made out of Elder wood, the rarest wood of all, and reported to be deeply unlucky. It contains powerful magic, but scorns to remain with any owner who is not the superior of his or her company; it takes a remarkable wizard to keep the elder wand for any length of time.
This wand is tricker than most to master but thankfully the old superstition, 'wand of elder, never prosper,' is nothing but an old wise tale, wands of elder prosper when properly matched to a witch or wizard."
Ember stared at the blocks of powerful wand woods as Ollivander placed the last block down, "I look forward to trying to make all four woods work together, I have not had a challenge like this in ages!" He then gestured to the other side of the room. "Now, you must find a wand core, please repeat the same process that you did when finding your wood with the cores."
Ember once again walked to one side of the room, closed her eyes, and let her magic do its thing. When she was done she had four jaws of different wand core materials, she noticed that Ollivander was looking shocked once again.
He picked up the first Jar and Ember realized she was about to get another lecture on what her magic picked as her wand cores.
"This Jar contains fragments of a Chimera Scale, wands made with these are extremely magical and powerful, compared to most common wand core types found today. Chimera's are very rare so most of these wands are heirloom ones."
He then took a closer look at Ember, "It's said that magicals chosen by these wands have very strong ego's and think highly of themselves, somehow I have a feeling that you will not have this problem."
Ember shrugged, "I might have a slight ego but I tend to put ones I care about first and think more of them than of me." Ollivander nodded in thought as he set the jar down and picked up the second one.
"This jar contains a snidget feather-"Ember let out a small gasp and Ollivander nodded at her. "Yes, the rare snidgets, these wand cores are very rare considering their protected status. Wands with these cores exeal at Charms, Potions, and Dueling."
"These wand cores typically bond with magicals who have a glorious and fulfilling future ahead of them. You seem to have a large desteny ahead of you my Lady."
He set the second jar down and picked up the next, ignoring the fact he dropped a bombshell on Ember.
Ollivanders eyes went wide as he breathed out his words, "This jar holds a White River Monster Spine, there is only one wandcrafter I know of that could craft wands with this special core. Sadly he passed away many years ago, he gave me this jar as a birthday gift. It has been collecting dust back here for years."
"These wands are rumored to produce spells with greate force and ease, giving most users the look of elegant effortlessness, spells requiring precixe wand movements are exremely simple for magicals using a wand with a white river monster spine."
He carefully set the Jar down and picked up the last one, "Compared to the other three this wand core is very tame, but it is still one of the rarest cores I keep in stock. It's a phoenix feather, these cores are capable of some of the greatest feats of magic, though it might take awhile for it to reveal that fact."
"These cores are very picky when it comes to their owner, it can take awhile to earn the feathers allience."
He set it down and stared at the four wooden blocks and four jars holding the wand cores.
"I never thought that I would ever have such a challenge as to combine all of these powerful wand cores and woods. Please come back tomorrow and it should be compleated."
"How much will this cost?" Ollivander hummed, "Normally my wands cost six to seven gallons but considering all the woods and cores and how rare a lot of them are then I'll have to say it will probably be one hundred gallons, please understand that you have chosen several powerful and rare supplies."
Ember hummed and nodded, "Can you add in a wand hoster charmed to make it so it's invisible and only I can take my wand out of it? Along with a wand polishing kit?"
Ollivander laughed, "Of course, tell you what, I'll give you the wand polishing kit for free. The wand hoster will cost five gallons though." She nodded, "That's fine with me, we'll be back tomorrow to pick up my wand and other things, we'll pay then."
After they spent some time talking about the powerful wand that was to be created, the two gems went home and told Pearl all about their day.
Ember let Pearl take a look at her uniform and she started working on making a better version of it with the cloth she decided on.
Yeah so her wand is a bit powerful but I think the things she picked suit Ember's personality. It took a bit of research to find out which wood and wand core represented. Some of the things Ollivander says are things I saw under the descriptions but I tried to add my own twist to his words.
