This chapter is all about Ember getting sorted! I'm sorry it's late but things have been super crazy lately.

GenericPjoName chapter 4 . Oct 4

I wanted to complain about the size of these bank accounts. Only real, natural gold is used in Galleons so this gold must come from Earth naturally. With the Peverell vault having 836,153,235,099 Galleons and a galleon coin being 0.35 cubic inches going by the official Galleon coin merchandise like this one (They sent a link but links don't work on chapters)

This means there are 6,272,583 cubic yards of gold or 2 Great Pyramids of pure gold. According to a visual capitalist, there are 200,000 tonnes, 10,360 cubic meters, or 13,550 cubic yards of gold ever mined with an additional quarter of that weight known to be in mines still. There is 463 piles of earth's worth of gold in this individual vault! Not to mention previously that this vault would need to be two Great pyramids large to hold just the Galleons let alone the sickles and knuts!

Me: I'm sorry you find the bank accounts too big. This is supposed to be fun and it's fiction. They could have used enlarging charms or runes on the vaults to make them bigger and the gold was just a random amount.

hikolb6 chapter 15 . Sep 22

Like the story so far. But why did you make Hermione so demanding that she automatically wanted to read the book that Ember was reading? Hermione isn't normally like that.

Me: I got a few reviews about this and I just want to say I'm sorry for making Hermione so demanding. All I can say is that I'm used to reading stories about her like that and have actually read other stories where she acted just like that on the train ride. I'm also used to writing her in my "Harry Potter and the secret inheritence." where she's older and a bit more demanding and bad.

Onto the story!

Ember looked around at the giant room and was a little impressed. It was nothing on some of the rooms in her homes, but it was big enough to hold everyone and that was what mattered.

She looked up and was awed when she saw the ceiling was charmed to show the night sky. The bushy-haired girl from earlier was going on about how it wasn't the real sky and that the ceiling had been spelled and how she read it all in Hogwarts a History.

She turned to the front where Professor McGonagall was standing with a ratty-looking hat and Ember raised her eyebrow. Looks like no one was taking proper care of the poor thing. Soon a rip appeared in its brim and the hat started to sing.

"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,

But don't judge on what you see,

I'll eat myself if you can find

A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat

And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head

The Sorting Hat can't see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve, and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true

And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

if you've a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin

You'll make your real friends,

Those cunning folks use any means

To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don't be afraid!

And don't get in a flap!

You're in safe hands (though I have none)

For I'm a Thinking Cap!"[1]

She held back a snort when she heard Ronald and Damien cursing the twins for making them think they would have to fight a troll. Even if the sorting wasn't done by a hat, Ember would like to think that the adults of the wizarding world weren't stupid enough to make eleven-year-olds, who haven't even learned any magic yet, fight a troll.

She watched as the Professor unrolled a piece of parchment and called out, "Abbot, Hannah!" a small blond-haired girl shyly walked forward and sat on the stool and the professor put the hat on her head.

A few moments later the sorting hat called out, "HUFFLEPUFF!" the table full of yellow and black-dressed students burst into applause as Abbot rushed over and sat down with a blush and wide smile on her face.

Ember sort of tuned out the rest of the students until she heard the Professor call out, "Davis Tracy." She watched as her new maybe friend walked up looking nervous but determined. She let the hat fall over her eyes and waited.

"RAVENCLAW" Ember watched surprised as Tracy ran over to the blue and bronze colored table and snorted when Tracy gave Ember a wave with a wink and smirk.

She watched as the bushy-haired girl, walked up and was sorted into Gryffindor. Ember was glad she decided not to go in that house, she was also a bit glad to know the girl's name was Hermione Granger, she didn't like calling people by their physical features as she had been with the girl.

She had to hold back a chuckle as she watched Daphnee get sorted into Ravenclaw with Tracy, looks like they took her words to heart on how a true Slytherin would never be sorted into that house.

The next person she paid attention to in the sorting was Damien, she already knew what house he was going to but she also knew that if her last name was still Potter she would have been called right after him. She could bet that her parents and the teachers were counting on it, that must be why they were sitting up at the staff table besides just coming to watch their precious son get sorted.

The hat didn't even touch Damien's head for more than a second before it was yelling out "Gryffindor!" Ember was honestly a bit surprised he got sorted there despite knowing no other house would accept him.

He wasn't loyal to anyone but himself and perhaps his parents, he wasn't hardworking either so that meant Hufflepuff was out.

From what Ember recalled he hated studying and reading anything that didn't have to do with Quidditch. He didn't want to learn for the sake of learning so Ravenclaw was out.

Slytherin was a big no for a few reasons. Damien wasn't sly or that cunning, He was ambitious sure but he had no drive to make those ambitions real with hard work. There's also the fact that Damien despised Slytherins with all his heart, and he would probably be disowned if sorted into Slytherin.

Then again, he was James Potter's son so he likely would throw a fit and demand on being sorted in Gryffindor and how he wasn't a 'Slimy Snake' and his dad would probably agree with him.

The last reason was that he would probably be killed within a day in Slytherin, the killer wouldn't get away with it but he would still most likely be killed thanks to his big mouth and bullying ways.

Ember moved her eyes to look up at the staff table, looking at her birth parents, and froze slightly when she noticed that Lily Potter was staring right at her with a sad knowing look in her eyes.

Bright emerald green eyes met Dull Hazel and Ember was struck with the feeling that Lily Potter knew she had changed her name from Potter to something else and wouldn't be called yet. She also got a gut feeling telling her that she didn't know everything that went on in her childhood despite being the one to live it.

She ripped her eyes away from her birth mother's and stared at the Professor, body stiff and tense.

The downside of not looking at the staff table anymore was that she didn't get to see the reactions of the teachers and headmaster when Professor McGonagall choked on air when reading Embers' name in her mind before she stuttered out.

"R-Ravenclaw, Ember!"

There was silence as Ember started walking forward with grace and a small smirk on her face. She glanced over at the Ravenclaw table and winked at Tracy and Daphnee when seeing their wide eyes.

She gave a polite nod to the Professor before sitting down and letting the hat fall over her eyes.

"My, my, what do we have here? The lady Peverell that the headmaster has been ranting about? And a princess, I haven't sorted a princess in decades."

Ember had to keep herself from tensing at the hat's words, what if it went and told Dumbledore everything? That would ruin all her hard work!

"Now calm down child, I'm spelled so I can't tell anyone what I find in your head now were to sort you? You have plenty of cunning but you don't believe any true Slytherin should be sorted into the house of the sly. So Slytherin is out."

"You're very loyal but only to those who you care for and who earn your loyalty. You're also hardworking but Hufflepuff is not for you, no miss it is not."

"You are very brave, you stand up for those you care about. Even going as far as killing to keep them safe but you would not fit in if sorted to Gryffindor. You think before you leap. Not to mention your brother would not last a day if you were in the same house as him."

"You love learning and experimenting, but you do not make it your enitire life. You take breaks and spend time playing games as well, perhaps you can teach the Ravenclaws to relax once and awhile."

The brim of the hat then opened and sealed her fate by sorting her into, "RAVENCLAW!"

The house of blue burst out into apologize as Ember stood up and nodded to the sorting hat in thanks before walking over to the Ravenclaw's table.

She sat right next to Daphnee and Tracy who were still staring at her in shock, in fact, everyone was looking at her shocked.

"Are you really a descendant of Rowana Ravenclaw?" Another student asked, Ember believed his name was, Terry Boot. "I am, my mother was a muggle-born so she never knew. Turns out the Ravenclaw line turned into squibs after awhile and it took years, decades even for the magic to come back."

"So you're the heir of Ravenclaw then?" Daphnee asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Not exactly." Ember smirked and held up her hand, willing the Ravenclaw ring to appear. "I took up the Ravenclaw Ladyship years ago."

Ember wasn't going to tell everyone why she did this or why she took up the headship and not her mother but she would drop some hints here and there later on throughout the school year.

"Why would you do that?" Tracy asked shocked.

Ember just shrugged in response not saying another word on the subject plainly letting everyone know she did not want to speak about it.

Luckily, they respected her decision and backed off.

Ember tuned out the rest of the sorting and only looked up when the headmaster stood up and started speaking, he introduced James and Lily as new professors at the school.

Lily was taking over the Muggle Studies class because it was out of date and James was going to assist with the flying lessons. He was still going to be an Auror since flying lessons didn't take long, just a few weeks to a month at most so he would need something else to do.

She frowned when she heard that and then frowned more when hearing about the third corridor being off limits unless they wanted to DIE, what the hell kind of school did she come to?

She shook her head and filled her plate up with food when it appeared on the table. She secretly cast a spell to tell her if there were any potions or anything in her food that shouldn't be there. She also cast the spell on her cutlery, cup, and plate and only started eating when they all came back negative.

She cast the same spell on the desserts that appeared after everyone had finished eating dinner. After having it show up negative again she chose some simple strawberry ice cream with whipped cream.

After dessert the headmaster made them all stand and sing that awful school song out of tune before he sent them all to bed. Once the prefects showed the first years what dorms belonged to what genders Ember walked up and set her shrunken trunk on the ground before enlarging it and grabbing her night clothes and toothbrush before shrinking it again.

"Why did you do that?"

Ember turned to face Sue-Lee, one of her dormmates for the next seven years. "I have trust issues, please respect that I will be keeping my trunk on me." she then walked to the bathroom and changed before brushing her teeth and combing her hair before climbing into one of the unoccupied beds.

She closed the curtains around the bed and charmed them to only open for her, to be super strong and to cancel out any sounds that came from inside the curtains and to muffle the sounds outside but not cancel them out totally.

She then charmed the railings holding the curtains to never break or fall and then charmed the bed to not move from its spot so no one could just push it over.

Ember was thankful she had spent the last few months after getting her wand learning these spells.

She then enlarged her trunk again and climbed inside to go to sleep after setting an alarm on it to alert her if anyone tried to get her attention along with an alarm to wake her up in the morning before breakfast was to be served.

After all of that, she then went to her room in the trunk and went to sleep.
