I hope everyone had a good holiday last month! I finally have some type to work on the next chapters of this story since I don't have to work on Christmas gifts for at least seven months.
I had this chapter written a month ago but my beta reader wasn't feeling well and I felt bad about making them work on this around Christmas time so I told them that I would prefer they work on it after the new year.
Onto the reviews.
hnh058513 chapter 17 . Nov 28, 2022
Love how you referenced the issue with Common Sense
Me: It was fun to write that part.
(The next person sent three reviews on three different chapters as they read the story, I'm going to just answer all three at once without writing the reviews themselves.)

My Answer: I'm taking the Dumbledore bashing one day at a time, and you're right cannon Harry won by pure luck. Ember is looking into buying an island to be able to make a safe haven for her gem children you're right. Ember doesn't have any reason to trust any of these teachers, they could earn her trust but that will only be a couple.
Ember spent the rest of the day until dinner exploring the castle with Daphne and Tracey, she was actually enjoying having friends her own age. Of course, she didn't trust them much, they had just met the night before after all and it would be stupid if she trusted them, to use a muggle expression, right off the bat.
Soon enough it was time for dinner and she knew that as soon as she was finished eating that Professor Flitwick would be coming to take her up to the headmaster's office where Ember had a feeling that she would be having a long overdue family reunion that she wished she could avoid.
She ate a bit slower than normal, if Pearl or Jasper were here then they would know something was up but sadly they weren't here. Wait, if she was going to be meeting with the headmaster and her genetic donors and twin, then shouldn't she have her magical guardian there?
She smirked, looks like she wouldn't be alone without one of her gems there after all.
She finished eating and waited silently for the professor to come to get her and smiled at him when he did. "Sir before we head up do you mind if we call my magical guardian to join us?" She made sure to keep her tone polite.
She could tell that the Professor was a bit confused, "May I ask why you wish for them to join us?"
"I'm assuming that this isn't anything school related and while I have asked you to join me I would also feel more comfortable with my guardian being in the room as well. She has also told me that she did not want me to meet with the headmaster without her being there." Ember was relieved to see that Professor Flitwick didn't seem too surprised by this and assumed that she wasn't the only student that had been told this.
"Very well, we can stop by my office to floo call your magical guardian, they can use my fireplace to floo in." He smiled at her, "Come along now, let's hurry so we are not late."
Ember hopped up and followed the Professor to his office and glanced around. The walls were a simple dull blue with silver trim on the top and bottom. The floor was covered in a tan carpet. There was a desk made of what looked like dark oak wood and several bookcases that matched the desk. Each bookcase was filled to the brim with books and Ember spotted a ladder hidden behind one of them. The next thing she noticed was that the desk and chair for it were both shorter than a normal desk and chair for adults.
It surprisingly looked like a pretty modern muggle office if you took out the torches and candles around for the light. She guessed that he must try to keep up with the times, unlike other magicals.
"You can use the floo powder on top of my fireplace to call your Guardian." he gestured to the fireplace, it was made out of light gray bricks and had a white top where the floo powder was stored. There was another ladder, this one a step ladder placed to the side of it.
She walked over and grabbed a pinch of floo powder and whispered the address into the flames before throwing the powder in and sticking her head inside.
Luckily Pearl was in the living room, it looks like she was tidying up some paperwork needed for the store. She looked up surprised when the floo activated, "My Diamond? Aren't you supposed to be in your dorms by now?"
"The headmaster wants to meet with me in his office right now, I was wondering if Jasper was free to come with me as my magical guardian." She quickly explained, "I have a feeling that the Potters are going to be there to try and take me back, probably for the money of the Ravenclaw family."
Pearl frowned, "Give me one moment to get her, I'll be right back." she left the room and returned a few minutes later with Jasper. "What's going on, My Diamond?"
Ember quickly explained what was going on again and watched as Jasper frowned, "I sent a letter to the headmaster a week ago explaining that you were not to be called up to his office without me, I didn't tell him who you were of course but if he checked the records after the sorting he would have seen that I was your magical guardian."
Pearl spoke up before anyone else could say something else, "He might be counting on our diamonds 'parents' still being her magical guardians or even counting on her being her own guardian so he can claim she's not mature enough to be living alone so he can try to force her to live with the Potters."
"That's probably it, so it's a good thing you called us my diamond, this way he can not claim you are living on your own, we can also bring up the contract we made a while ago that makes it so I can not take advantage of you."
"Okay back up and I'll floo over, don't worry my diamond I'll take care of this," Jasper told her looking protective.
Ember took her head out of the fireplace and backed up, "My Guardian will be here in a moment."
Just as she finished her sentence the floo flared to life and out stepped Jasper. She towered over Professor Flitwick, which to be fair anyone could do. She had her hair put up into a bun and was wearing an orange shirt with black cargo pants and black combat boots. She had on some black fingerless gloves. Ember wondered when Jasper started dressing like this, she used to just wear tank tops and jeans with sneakers.
She had only been gone for a day, how did Jasper change so much? God, was this what parents meant when they said their children were growing up too fast? Because if so she totally got it now.
Ember didn't say anything about Jasper's change in style, if this style made her happy then who was she to say something about it. She might be Jasper's 'mom' in the sense that she brought her to life but that didn't mean she got to control every aspect of her and Pearl's lives.
"So how do we get to the headmaster's office?" Jasper broke the silence that had overcome the room as soon as she stepped out of the fireplace. This snapped the professor out of his thoughts.
Miss Ravenclaw's Guardian wasn't anything like he had been expecting, he didn't know what he had been expecting but a tall buff lady, wearing muggle clothing that gave her an aura of danger was not it.
"Follow me please Mrs.?" He paused realizing that he didn't know this woman's name.
"My name is Jasper Gem, my family has a habit of naming their children after gems and rocks to go with our last name." Ember didn't know if Jasper had planned this excuse beforehand or if she just came up with it but she made a mental note of it for the future.
"Also I'm not married, me and my sister are taking care of Ember," Jasper added at the end, feeling uncomfortable being called Mrs.
"Alright Miss Gem, please follow me to the headmaster's office and we shall get this settled." Professor Flitwick then gestured for them to follow him, Ember noticed that Jasper had to slow her walking speed down if she didn't want to go faster than the Professor and stifled a giggle.
Soon enough they were outside of the headmaster's office, Professor Flitwick gave the statue the password and walked up the spiral staircase. She was unimpressed that the password was a candy, anyone could guess that. Someone could just stand outside and name a bunch of candy names until they got it right if this was all he used as passwords.
"Please come in Filius and Ember." The voice of the headmaster spoke before they could knock so the three of them walked right in. Ember wasn't surprised to see that the adult Potters, Professor McGonagall, and the headmaster were there.
"Thank you, Filius you may leave." Dumbledore waved at the door to dismiss him, somehow no one had noticed Jasper yet.
"I've been asked to stay by Miss Ravenclaw, Headmaster. I would be remiss in my duties if I left her alone in a meeting without anyone of her guardians here."
"Nonsense, the Potters are her parents, and as soon as we get her resorted into Gryffindor her head of house will be Professor McGonagall." Ember couldn't believe the nerve of this man, did he really believe this would work?
God, he must be going senile if he thought she would go along with this. Just then Jasper coughed before Professor Flitwick managed to say anything else in his shocked state.
"Excuse me but I believe you are mistaken." She smirked slightly as she saw everyone but those she entered with jumped when realizing there was someone else in the room with them.
"Who the hell are you and what are you doing here?" James pulled out his wand, pointing it at Jasper which made Ember furious.
"I'm Ember's magical and muggle guardian. You all seem to be under the impression that she lived on her own these last few years. She's been staying with me and my sister."
"You kidnapped our daughter?! Headmaster call the Aurors!" James snapped, if Ember didn't know that he hated her she would be under the impression that he actually cared. She knew he didn't care though, he probably just cared about getting his hands on the Ravenclaw vaults full of money. She had heard that the Potters were having financial problems ever since 'Lady Peverell' stopped paying for their lavish lifestyle.
"Actually she didn't kidnap me, Mister Potter, I chose her to be my guardian. This was after I took up my ladyship for the Ravenclaw house. The Goblins have proof that I was and am not under any controlling potions or spells." She made sure that her voice was polite if not distant when speaking to her birth father.
"What do you mean you took up your ladyship? That should have gone to Damien!" James once again proved he didn't think of anything but money, if he hadn't focussed on that he would have realized that his daughter didn't call him dad but instead called him 'Mister Potter.
"Ember why did you call your dad by his last name?" The Headmaster interjected, surprised. He could already see several plans being thrown out the window.
"Because I do not consider him to be my father so therefore he is just Mister Potter to me. And if you were to pay attention sir, you would realize that the head of Ravenclaw passes on from Mother to Daughter, Mrs. Potter never claimed it so I did. Also Headmaster please refrain from calling me Ember, I believe that is too familiar for us considering we are not friends or even friendly with one another."
She watched as the headmaster gave her a frown and a disappointed look before sighing like this was something impossible to be asking of him. "Very well Miss Potter-" "Ravenclaw, sir, my last name is Ravenclaw, I disowned the Potter name years ago."
She had to hold back the smirk that wanted to show up at the shock on James, McGonagall's, and Dumbledore's faces. "Why on earth would you do that you stupid girl!" James roared at her, starting to storm up to her. He didn't get a chance to get any closer than a few feet as Jasper placed herself in front of her and glared down at him.
"Do not test me, Potter, try to lay a hand on her in anger again and I swear you will be done for you hear me?" James gulped and backed up, he didn't know who the fuck this woman was but she was very intimidating.
"Can we all calm down, please? Now tensions seem to be riding high. Miss Po-Ravenclaw." Dumbledore quickly corrected himself when seeing both Ember and Jasper frown at him. "Are you sure you trust this woman to be your guardian? She could just be using you after all." Hopefully, this would make her doubt this woman a bit. If he could make her doubt her guardian it would make it only too easy to have her go back to the Potters.
"I'm sure sir, we have a magical contract that states that neither Jasper nor her sister Pearl will take advantage of me or my money as long as they are my guardians. You can find this on file with the Goblins if you wish."
Dumbledore had to hold back a scowl when hearing that, this was not good. He would have to try and arrange an accident for these two women if he wanted to get his hands on the vast knowledge and wealth of the Ravenclaw family.
"Not to mention I do not truly need a magical guardian anyways. Since I am Lady Ravenclaw I am considered an adult in the eyes of law and magic. These are laws that have been on the books since the founding of the magical world and can not be changed without everyone on the
Wizengamot agreeing to it." She spoke up again, not hiding the slight smile on her face this time.
"Now if that is all it is getting late and I would like to be well-rested for my second day of school."
"Yes I do agree it has gotten late, come along, Miss Ravenclaw, Miss Gem, I will escort you out." Professor Flitwick left the room with both girls following him. The three of them left the headmaster, deputy headmistress, and two adult Potters standing there in shock.
