Hello, everyone. Welcome back to my story, a little update on the beta reader thing. I've decided that when I've finished my next chapters, I'll upload them and when the Beta reader finishes going over them I'll just update the chapter. It'll probably be easier on them since they're so busy. This way they don't have to worry about rushing to edit my stories, (Despite me telling them many times it's fine.)

I hope you all enjoy this chapter and the explanation of why the Joker is the way he is. I decided to have the reactions to what's been written be another chapter.

Onto the reviews.

The line 'stand back I don't want to catch stupid.' is perfect to wear in front of MoRon.

Me: God I can't believe I missed the chance for Adriane to do that.

Onto the story

Adriane was in shock at what had happened the past few hours. Her uncle is an insane criminal, though it seems like he is being controlled by something. She wondered if Dumbledore was behind it, though she wasn't completely sold on that idea.

She felt guilty, while everyone was trying to figure out what had just happened, including the bats and the police; she had stunned her Uncle, placed him under a body bind, and a notice-me-not charm before she quickly levitated him behind her out of the back of the bank.

She only had a short amount of time before someone figured out that the Joker and she were missing so she grabbed hold of him and Apparated to her house. She then used her floo connected to floo over to Gringotts bank. Luckily, there was a bank in Gotham so she didn't have to risk heading back to the London branch to get her Uncle's help.

As soon as she had explained what had happened the Goblins already had the inheritance test set up and added a bit of the Joker's blood to it. Within minutes the test was ready and Adriane started to read it and felt horror growing in her.

Adriane looked up at Grinlast horrified. Grinlast had decided to transfer over to the Gotham Gringotts branch to be closer to his favorite human.

"Grinlast, take what you need out of my vaults but heal my Uncle to the best you can," Adriane spoke as she handed over the test to the small green goblin sitting behind his new desk inside his new office.

His face grew dark and furious as he read what was going on inside her Uncle Jack's head. He pushed a button on his desk and barked out an order into it. Within ten minutes Goblins rushed in and carried the Joker away to perform the rituals needed on him before shoving him into their medical wing.

Adriane sat there in shock, she was shocked to discover why her Uncle was so insane. Why would he absorb so much dark magic, Was he forced to? If so, who forced him?

Grinlast watched as his favorite human seemed to space out, he decided now would be a good time to give his favorite human a gift he had arranged for her. He had been about to write a missive asking for her to come to the bank right when she came into his office.

He silently sent for someone to bring his gift in as he spoke to Adriane.

"Lady Adriane, are you well?"

Hearing Grinlast speak, it snapped her out of her daze and had her looking up at him, if only to be polite. "I'm sorry, Grinlast, what did you say?"

"I asked if you were feeling well," Grinlast repeated.

"I believe so, I'm just in shock. Who would do this to my Uncle?" Adriane frowned as she spoke, she still couldn't believe what she had found out. Not to mention she needed to figure out what to do about the police and the bat family.

They would be tracking her down to try and find the Joker. Hopefully, by the time they found her, her Uncle would no longer be the awful insane Joker that has terrorized the entire city of Gotham.

Hopefully, he would look entirely different from what he does now. If the Goblins can heal his scars, and he stopped either charming his hair green or using muggle hair dye, then he would look very different in normal muggle clothes.

Adriane looked up when she heard someone clear their throat. When she saw who it was she jumped up and tackled them. She couldn't believe how much better Sirius looked compared to before.

His hair was no longer long and greasy from not being able to wash up for twelve years. His face, once pale with his cheeks sunken in, was now tan and healthy looking. His eyes were no longer dark and haunted, they were now sparkling with life and laughter, if you looked closely you could still see some shadows in his eyes but it was much better than it used to was no longer thin as a rake, instead, he had filled out. Looks like having three meals a day was helpful.

He was wearing new clothes too. He was wearing a black hoodie with jeans, he had some red trainers on. Taking a closer look at the trainers she snorted when she realized the shoe laces were gold colored. You can take the boy out of Gryffindor but you can never take the Gryffindor out of the boy it seems.

"Sirius, what are you doing here?" Adriane asked with a broad smile on her face that he returned.

"Well, I was coming to visit my favorite Goddaughter, but if you don't want me here." He trailed off with a mischievous smile.

Adriane gently slapped his shoulder, making sure it was light enough to not hurt him. "You know I want you here you mangy old mutt, Why didn't you tell me you were coming? I would have got a room for you ready ahead of time."

"It was supposed to be a surprise Pronslette." Sirius put his hands up in surrender, barking out a laugh at his goddaughter's pout. He laughed more when Adriane spun around and gave the poor Goblin sitting behind the desk a playful glare.

"Grinlast, did you have anything to do with this?"

Grinlast let out a chuckle, "Guilty as charged Lady Adriane. He just got out of the time chamber this morning and he arrived here as soon as he was capable."

Adriane gave him a wide smile before spinning around, "We have so much to catch up on. Come on, let's get back to my house and pick out a room for you." She said, grabbing his hand and dragging him to the floo, still being careful not to hurt him.

Grinlast watched as his favorite human and her Dogfather left through his fireplace. He waited a minute to make sure the two were genuinely gone before getting up and walking down to the ritual rooms. He walked in and prepared to help in any way he could.

Normally, a Goblin in charge of a large account would not be down here, helping out by handing the ritual goblins waters or dry towels as needed, but he wished to make sure everything would go alright for the human being released from his pain.

It was not for the human himself that Grinlast wanted to do this, no, it was for Lady Adriane that he was down here. That poor child has lost more than most humans or Goblins he knew. She deserved to have things go her way now.

Back at the Gotham Manor, Adriane was giving Sirius a tour of the place. She showed him everything, including her room. She was ecstatic to show it off because she's never had a room that was entirely hers.

At the Dursleys, she at first had her cupboard but that wasn't a room, it was also still used to store cleaning supplies like bleach. After her Hogwarts letters showed up she was moved into a proper room but it was made clear that it wasn't hers, it was still her cousin's second bedroom, and that she should be grateful he was allowing her to use it.

At Hogwarts she had to share a room with other children, she got very good at the silencing charm thanks to their snoring. This year she might have slept in the ROR and then the Chamber of Secrets but those still weren't her rooms.

The ROR is a magical room that anyone could use if they found it. The rooms she used in the Chamber of Secrets used to belong to Salazar Slytherin himself and all she did was change out the sheets and clean things up. It still felt like someone else's room to her, and it was.

But this room in the manor belonged to her, no one else. It was her room, Adriane's room, and she was ecstatic to know this.

It was a bit sad that something like her own room could make her feel so happy and excited but she didn't think about it for too long.

~In the Batcave~

"Bruce, what the fuck do you mean the Joker's missing?" A boy with black hair and blue eyes screamed at a man dressed as an overgrown bat. The boy had a streak of white in his hair, this boy was Jason Grace.

A boy the Joker had killed, a boy who somehow came back to life. He had to dig himself out of his own grave. Ever since then, Jason has had a very deep hatred of the clown calling himself the Joker.

"I mean just that Jason, somehow the Joker managed to get away." Bruce frowned at the screen of the bat computer. He didn't understand any of this, he had a feeling that his cousin was the one who took the madman away but why would she do this?

"What about that girl? The one who knocked the bastard out?" Jason spoke up, breaking Bruce out of his thoughts.

He sighed and turned the chair around to look at his third eldest son. "I don't know Jason, I suspect that she took him-"

"WHAT? Why would she take him!" Jason interrupted in shock and anger.

Bruce sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, "Jason, that girl is my cousin Adriane. She also happens to be the Joker's Niece. Watch the camera feeds from when Joker ran in with his goons to where Adriane knocks him out." He stood up and went upstairs to talk to Alfried about something important.

Jason glowered after Bruce before sitting in the chair and grumbling as he did so. Not because the old man told him to, but so he would be able to see if there were any clues on where the girl had taken the Joker.

The more Jason watched the more. . . confused, he felt about what he was seeing. Why did the Joker's eyes change colors, why did he seem panicked and wanted Adriane away from him?

Everything he knew about that bastard showed him that if the Joker were to ever meet someone he's related to he would try and convert them to crime. So why was he doing the total opposite with this girl? What was so special about her?

He needed to find out for himself what was going on, Jason decided as he stood up.

~In a random area of the world~

"Did you find the last of them?"

"Yes, I did, hopefully we'll be ready."

"Yeah. . . Hopefully."
