Scream V (2022) My Version

Chapter Eight: Vince Is Killed

Having been kicked out of the pool hall, Vince stumbles to the side of the building and takes a leak on the wall. Part necessity, mostly spite. He hated people getting in his business.

"Fuuuuuuck this barrrrrrrrrr!" Vince curses.

A shape passes behind him. Vince shakes it off, zips up and walks to his pick-up. Gets in, angrily slams the door and revs his engine.

Vince speeds down a country road. thwapping sound can be heard from his car. He's pulling to the left.

"What the fuck?" He asks getting out of the car. He spots something wrong on his car. "Motherfucker..." He looks around on wide open road on both sides...Vince finds his right rear tire is flat. A knife sticking out of it. Vince, livid

"Riley, you piece of shit." He cusses Dewey's name is nowhere near him. Vince goes to the trunck his car, about to open the tailgate when he pauses. Vince's an idiot, but even idiots know that masked killers jump out of things like truck beds.

He girds himself... pops the latch, opens the gate... Nothing. He exhales. Takes out the spare and the jack. Vince as he raises the side of the car with the flat tire using the jack. CRANK. CRANK. CRANK. About to tackle the first lug nut when he hears it: DRIP. DRIP. DRIP...?

Vince squats down. It's the break fluid leaking from a cut line.

"FUCK!" He yelled cussing.

Vince retrieves his tool box from the bed and shimmers under the car to fix the break fluid. Rummages for tape for an emergency temp fix...

"So fucking dead. Try and kill me? I will fuck you the fuck up." Vince said loudly.

And then... footsteps crunching gravel on the shoulder of the road. But from where? There haven't been any cars. Nothing but empty space for as far as the eye can see.

"Who's there?" Vince asked startled yet still pissed off. Nothing. No sound is made yet the ominous dark presence is felt. "Is that you Riley?" He continues. "Keep fucking with me and I will fucking kill you. You fucking loser ass motherfucker!"

Black, muddy boots appear in Vince's field of vision.

"You can fuck off, I got this!" Vince said angrily. But the booted individual does not fuck off. Rather, the fringes of a Ghostface robe descend into view. "I said-" he continued but stops short feel a painful sensation. SHUNK. A butcher knife sinks into the flesh of Vince's thigh! He screams and tucks his legs under the truck!

"I'll fucking kill you, Riley!" Vince cussed clearly in pain. Vince scrabbles to the other side, starts to slide out -- SLASH! A deep gash appears on his forearm. He yelps and retreats under the truck again.

WHAM! The jack is kicked out and the truck bottom nearly smashes Vince's face in.

"FUCK YOU!!" Vince yells blood poring out of leg and arm. Then... the engine starts. "No. No fucking way-" Vince rolls out on the driver's side and rises, expecting to find his attacker in the driver's seat...

But GHOSTFACE is waiting in the bed of the truck! He burries his knife in Vince's face. Vince stumbles back and falls to the ground and dies. Ghost face disappears.

At the hospital, Richie being the gentlemen that he is set up the tv for Tara to watch a movie. Sam suggested they watch a comedy. Tara agreed. Ben and Christine had decided to go get them some food for dinner. Both are talking while on their way back to the hospital.

"I cannot believe a person in a ghost face costume attacked our child." Ben said.

"I know. It's weird. I mean we have nothing to do with the Prescotts or Loomis'." Christine said.

"We went to school with Sidney and Billy but we don't have anything to do with them." Ben said. Christine stayed silent a moment. Ben didn't notice. Christine looked away. The mere mention of Billy's name sends shivers down her spine. His name made her feel guilty since she's been keeping a secret from her husband and oldest daughter for years. She hopes she doesn't have to tell him. "Ghost face. You gotta be a punk ass bitch to dress up in a Halloween costume and kill people. That's a bitch move if you ask me." He said as she nods.

"I know one things for sure, we gotta protect our girls." Christine said putting the emphasis on daughters.

"Damn right." Ben said as the two stopped short of Tara's room. Both watched them laughing. Richie is laughing with them as they were watching a comedy movie. "What do you make of the boyfriend?"

"Richie?" Ben asked. Christine nods. "He seems nice enough."

"Don't they all." Christine said. Ben nods. "Maybe we should at the very least give him a chance."

"Oh ok. If we must." Ben said playfully. Christine smirked as they entered the room.

"Hey." Sam said.

"Hey. What are you laughing at." Christine asked.

"We're watching a comedy movie." Tara said with Sam sitting on the bed next to her.

"Oh well we brought some pizza for us to eat for dinner." Ben said as he and Christine began to fix plates of pizza. "Would like to join us Richie,"

"Yes thank you." Richie said as a plate is made for him.

Soon all five of them are sitting eating pizza. Sam paused the video a moment knowing her parents wanted to ask Richie some questions.

"So Richie, how did you and my daughter meet?" Ben asked.

"Well we attend the same college." Richie said keeping his answers short.

"Really what's your major?" Ben asked. Christine decided to just listen while eating.

"Papi." Sam asked questionly.

"What? It's just a question. Personally I wanna know my baby girl is dating." Ben defended. Tara smirked thanking god it wasn't her they're dad asking these invading questions.

"It's ok Sam. I totally understand. Mr. Carpenter." Richie said.

"You do?" Ben asked.

"Yes. If I had a daughter I'd want to know who she's dating and what he's about as well." Richie said.

"Ok let's hear it." Ben said.

"Well I'm a pre-med major. My goal is to become a surgeon making lots of money so I can provide for your daughter and myself." Richie said smiling proud of himself. Sam smiled. Christine was impressed. Hell even Tara was impressed.

"GPA?" Ben asked.

"4.0." Richie said.

"Damn." Tara said impressed. Ben had to admit he was impressed.

"A surgeon huh?" Ben asked. "Ok I'm impressed." He said.

Christine smiled as she was impressed with Richie. He seemed to be a nice guy who really likes Sam and is a smart guy who wants a career in the medicine field. Not bad. She watched Sam smile watching her husband and Richie talk. Richie told a joke that got everyone laughing. Her smile began to fade as she was thinking about her conversation with her husband outside of Tara's hospital room. She felt a pain in her stomach. A nervous pain. She has a secret that if it got out would hurt her daughters and her husband. She couldn't hurt them. What was she to do? Tara noticed this and wondered what was wrong.

"Mom are you ok?" Tara asked. Ben, Sam and Richie looked over at her.

"What?" Christine asked the fake smile returning to her face.

"You looked miles away. You ok?" Tara asked.

"Oh I'm ok honey. I was just thinking about the time you two were little." She lied smoothly.

"Got any funny memories? Sam won't tell me anything." Richie asked.

"Oh we got a million of them." Christine said smirking at Ben who smirked back. Sam noticed this and got worried that they'd embarrass her.

"Oh no." Sam said smiling.

Christine begins to tell Richie about an embarrassing moment in Sam's childhood. They group laughed as Sam looked on embarrassed. Tara smiled having her family all together in the same room together. It'd been a long time since this happened. It felt good to her despite her being attacked. It was a good thing the family was together. Question was how long would this last?

Zeke had driven his brother and sister home. Both chatted him up asking some many questions. Zeke smiled knowing how happy they were to see him. Mindy had been depressed when he left home. Chad had starting acting up until a call from Zeke put a stop to it. Martha didn't know what was said to Chad but his behavior changed.

At the Meeks'Martin residence, Martha had welcomed her oldest son home with open arms. Zeke reluctantly hugged her. Martha hugged him tightly. She missed him. She made a nice dinner for her children. They ate chatting and telling jokes having a good time. She hadn't seen her children laugh like this in so long it was heartwarming.

Mindy had fallen asleep on the couch after dinner. Zeke and Chad had decided to talk about everything from school to girls to football.

"You're on the varsity team?" Zeke asked.

"Yep first string. I'm the best wide receiver on the team." Chad said bragging a little.

"That's my little bro." Zeke said excitedly playfully rubbing Chad's head. "Proud of you bro."

"Thanks bro." Chad said.

"How's it going on the girl front?" Zeke asked. Chad's smile disappeared. Zeke noticed and his smiles fades a bit. "What's up?"

"There's this girl I like. Her name is Liv and she's so hot but she won't give me the time of day." Chad said.

"What?! You're a good lookin dude. Runs in the family." Zeke said smiling. Chad shrugs.

"She doesn't want me. I don't know what to do to convince her to give me a chance." Chad said.

"Look if she don't want you, fuck that bitch. There are other girls out there. Go chase some ass. Fuck her." Zeke said. Chad nods. "Know what I mean?" Chad nods again. "There's plenty of pussy around. Don't settle for the one that doesn't want you. Get the ones that will put out." He said. Chad nods taking in everything he said. "Was the girl that was attacked really Tara?"

"Yeah. You remember her?" Chad asked.

"Yeah. Last time I seen her she was this little tiny thing." Zeke said. "She was a cute little thing to."

"Well she is cute." Chad said.

"I remember her sister Sam. How is she by the way?" Zeke said smirking.

"She's ok. She came back to town because of Tara's attack." Chad said as Zeke nods.

"She still hot?" Zeke asked.

"Oh most definitely." Chad said.

"Nice." Zeke said.

"She came to town with her boyfriend." Chad said.

"Boyfriend? Who is he?" Zeke asked not happy to hear his crush has a boyfriend.

"Some college guy she met." Chad said. "I don't know. He looks a bit dorky to me."

"Sam needs a real man in her life." Zeke said.

"Like you?" Chad asked playful.

"Yes me." Zeke said pretending to be offended. The two wrestled a moment.

"Hey hey don't break my good China." Martha said coming into the kitchen.

"Sorry mom." Chad said.

"Don't worry we won't break your China." Zeke said. "Relax." He said roughly. Martha sighs before going back into the kitchen.

"Bro, give her break ok. Please?" Chad asked him.

"Ok." Zeke said. "It's about the time you and sleeping beauty over here get to bed."

"Yeah I'm pretty beat." Chad said yawning.

"Hey princess." Zeke said tickling Mindy until she wakes up.

"I'm not a princess." Mindy said sleepily.

"You are to me." Zeke said. Mindy smiles at the sentiment but doesn't consider herself a princess

"You do know I'm a lesbian right?" Mindy asked.

"And one of the best I've ever known." Zeke said smiling. "Of course I don't know many lesbians, but you are certainly the coolest one I know little sis." Zeke continued earning a chuckle out of Mindy who stands up to head upstairs. She gives him a kiss on the cheek before doing so.

"Good night." Mindy said. "Glad you're back bro."

"Me to. Get some sleep." Zeke said smiling as Chad and Mindy went to their rooms. Martha watched a moment.

"I left your room the way you left it when you were last here." Martha said.

"Thanks." Zeke said without looking at her. There's clearly still some tension between them. More if it coming from Zeke than Martha. Could mother and son mend fences?
