I don't think I did too bad on the first chapter. What do you think? This chapter is one that was sort of difficult to write, that's why it took longer to get updated. It was difficult because, I've never written a case from scratch, only used the cases from NCIS.

Warning: There will be mild violence in this chapter. Even though it is mild, it still might trigger some people. What happens to Abby in this chapter is different than the actual book and (same goes for the next chapter).

Note: The first part of this chapter is in a different point of view, than the rest of the chapter. It's weird, but I think it works. Also, what happens is different than the movie and book.

I was sitting at my desk, when my assistant, Cynthia, had spoken through the intercom, "Director, there's a guy on the phone, Spencer Alexander- the Mayor of Bliss, Mississippi. He wishes to speak with you."

"Tell Mr. Alexander, that I am busy and don't have time to talk. I'll call him later."

As Cynthia switched lines, she replied, "Yes, ma'am."

I heard he speak as she picked up the phone again. "Hello? Director Shepard is busy at the moment and will call you back later."

She spoke through the intercom again, "He says it's about your sister, Abby. Also, he says it's urgent."

"Alright, patch him through to line one."

Rolling my eyes, I sighed. There's a meeting with SecNav in an hour and a half, I don't really have the time to spare. However, since it has to do with my sister Abby, I will always make time.

"This is Director Shepard speaking, how may I help you?"

Spencer rubbed the back of his neck. How in the hell, was he supposed to tell the director of an armed federal agency, that her sister went missing? This was going to be harder than he thought it would be. Oh, God.

"Yes, ma'am. I'm Spencer Alexander, the Mayor of Bliss, Mississippi. Your sister, Miss Abby, was here for her book tour."

"I am aware of that."

"This morning, she and her publicist, Jamie left for Jackson, Mississippi. A few hours later I get a call from Jamie, telling me that Abby never made it." He took a deep breath.

Shit.

Shit. My sister is missing and I have a meeting with SecNav in an hour and a half. I walked to Cynthia's desk and asked, "I have a family emergency to deal with, call SecNav's office and tell him I can't make the meeting. If he has any questions, he can call either me or Agent Gibbs. I need you to clear my schedule for the rest of the week."

"Yes, Director. Anything else?" she replied.

" There is. I'm flying on a red-eye to Mississippi, and I am taking Agent Gibbs and his team with me."

Without saying anything else, I nodded my head and left my office. As I walked to the bullpen, I could feel my heart pounding. I stood in the middle of the group of desks. " I need you guys to grab your gear, head home, and pack. Meet me and Gibbs at his house. You will be briefed when you arrive."

As the team got up and left, she heard a chorus of, "Yes Director."

"Jenn, what's going on? What's wrong?"

"I'll tell you on the way to your house."

Once everyone was gathered at Gibbs' house, I began to explain what was happening. They were curious as to why their Director was on the verge of being hysterical. Wondered why she was so worried.

"I received a call about an hour ago, from the Mayor of Bliss, Mississippi. My sister, Abby Houston, went missing while leaving for the last stop on her book tour."

DiNozzo looked at me in confusion. "Wait. You have a sister?"

Jethro gave him a glare that quickly shut him up. "Let her speak DiNozzo."

"As I was saying, my sister went missing on her way to Jackson, Mississippi. I want you guys on the case. That being said, you have two hours to go home, pack your bags and get to Dulles. We have a red-eye flight to catch."

The moment the team left the house, I immediately burst into tears. Next to Jethro, my sister was my best friend and now she is missing. In an instant, Jethro was wrapping his arms around me and pulling me closer to him. I buried my head into the crook of his neck as I started to sob. " What am I going to do Jethro? I can't lose my sister, sh- she's my best friend."

"Oh, sweetheart. It'll be okay, We'll find her."

"How can you be so sure Jethro?"

He pulled away from me and said, "Because Jenny, there's a reason my team has the highest rate of solved cases.

I was getting into my convertible after dropping of Miss Eula's dog at the vet. Needing to hurry up and get to Jackson, I didn't notice that someone came up behind me. "He... hello, Miss Abb... Abby. I know y'all are probably in a... a hurry, but may you please sign this book? It's for my sister Laura. It'd devastate her if she don't get her book signed."

Ugh. Walter wanting another book signed. He's been following me since my very first stop of my book tour. What a creep I thought, "Yeah sure. Have a pen ready?"

He walked over to his truck and pulled something out, that wasn't a pen. It was a gun. "I'm gonna need you to get in the truck."

Great, just what I needed. Getting kidnapped. I silently obeyed Walter. He was fragile minded, and I wasn't about to make him angry. So, I just sat there and silently watched out the window. I was wondering where Walter was taking me, especially since the roads were starting to become unpaved and the trees, more dense.

After an hour and a half of driving, we arrived at this almost dilapidated hunting shack. It must have a lot of history behind it, it must be old.

I was brought out of my thoughts as Walter opened the door and roughly yanked me out of the truck. Somehow in the process, I managed to cut my arm. It wasn't a large cut, but it was enough to hurt and bleed decently.

Letting out a whimper was probably not the wisest thing to do. Walter sternly said, "Shut up," and then pretty much Gibbs slapped me.

Then, something unexpected happened. I felt a sharp pinch in my neck before everything went black.

Oooh... I wonder what happens next!

So, this chapter turned out differently than planned. Not sure why. Anyway, hope y'all enjoyed reading this!
