Pretty small chapter with a Pov change half-way through, mostly to help balance out the fact the previous chapters were a few from the original mixed together.

The worst lesson, so far, was perhaps History, the only one they seemed to share with Hufflepuff, currently taught by the unbelievably dull professor Binns.
Truly, Hogwarts evidently did it's very best to live up to it's magical aspect given it had hired a literal ghost for said subject. A fact he'd initially been very impressed by- Until he'd actually had to go through one of said professor's lessons at any rate.
Before he'd had the pleasure of going through the nightmare that was Binns, he'd easily have figured history to be one of his more favourite subjects. And it would have been had it been taught by literally anyone else.
Not only did the ghost somehow manage to make the subject boring, but he also managed to get it incorrect! It irritated him to no end; he had wanted to learn as much history as he could given it wasn't a lesson his grandfather was too keen on teaching, which even if he was, would likely be rather biased.
It was bad enough to the point some of his fellow Slytherins had managed to fall asleep during the torture. Daphne the only one to somehow manage to stay up, though he wasn't even sure if she had ended up falling asleep as he'd fell first.
Astronomy on the other hand was a subject most of the students, those born into a magical family at any rate, enjoyed to no end. It was most likely a new experience for them having been raised up on magic. Hell even some of the Muggleborns had enjoyed, despite having likely learned about the concept already. And though he found the subject tolerable, he hadn't been too excited to learn about it, particularly given the other lessons available. While growing up in the orphanage he'd never had much of a chance for education, other then the odd book on science he'd manage to get his hands on.
It was also one of the only two subjects they shared with Ravenclaw, the other been Defence Against The Dark Arts.
...
Not all the subjects were taught inside, one of the classes required them in the Hogwarts greenhouse. Another class they seemed to share with Gryffindor; Herbology, which almost everyone found arguably dull. The professor, once again like the history one, fit her subject to T,
In that Rodrick found her as dreary as the subject she taught. The subject itself it seemed simply couldn't be taught with excitement, given most of it involved waiting long periods of time for any kind of result.
He'd spent most of the lesson just staring at the textbook in front of him, with Granger next to him trying to grill him for information on how he had managed his most recent semi-success in Transfiguration. Though at the very least Daphne had managed to save him by directing the girl's conversation elsewhere.
Rodrick did, however, notice the... He wouldn't quite call it a glare... More of a warning look of some kind? Coming from Malfoy, Though he certainly knew why it was currently been directed to the two of them, even if he paid it no mind.
If Malfoy wanted to be a stickler for blood supremacy and an even bigger one for irritation, he may just introduce him to his grandfather. Still despite his behaviour, the blonde did annoyingly fit in well with most of the Slytherins, given even Blaise seemed to have a form of respect for him.
...
Daphne had found herself rather enjoying Rodrick's company when it came to studying; He was book-smart, and talented when it came to magic. It came off as a shock, but he seemed further ahead of the class, most likely near Granger, knowledge wise any case. Who knew how far ahead he was practically. Given he was already capable of using Wand-less magic as it was.
He tried to hide it though he didn't manage it very well; while most would look on in blatant confusion at the professor's instructions and remarks, Rodrick feigned disinterest, but even he couldn't hide the understanding that almost always showed on his face.
Which she'd started recognising due to it being the exact same look Granger seemed to favour, though she made it rather known to the rest...
She had, initially, been somewhat annoyed with him given he could've easily scored their house points, and yet refused to. At least until after their first Transfiguration lesson. That been the moment she'd realised that he might've been too far ahead for a student, let alone an orphan, and that while it might help their house, it probably gave him attention he wasn't entirely comfortable with.
The fact that he'd told her that he had been taught, after lying to a professor, also probably helped. Given the sheer trust doing so entailed.
They were currently in the library preparing for their Potions lesson that was set the next day. Their professor had been kind enough to tell them exactly what they were expected to prepare for, in that he'd shoved a large book into their arms and walked off.
Needless to say, having spent the past few hours doing so, Tracey was already fast asleep on her side of the table.
Rodrick, evidently done with the reading material, was currently skimming through other potion books. The two quietly conversing with one another.
"What do you think our head of house is going to be like? As a teacher?"
"I heard he favours Slytherin students during lessons, so at least points will be easier to come by," Rodrick shrugged back, eyes still on the book in front of him.
"That... Sounds like an unfair advantage..." She stated with a frown, her morales admittedly not too happy with the potential rumour; one she'd heard herself a few times already.
"I don't see an issue with it." He, of course, grinned in response, earning a set of rolled eyes from her in return.
"You are just as bad," Daphne deadpanned before she shook her head as the boy promptly took her words as encouragement of some kind, "Oh, get rid of that smirk, you look like Malfoy,"
His mood, and expression, soured considerably at that; and frankly she couldn't help the giggle that briefly out before covering her mouth.
The two managed to spend the rest of the time chatting away, eventually forgetting about their books, though it wasn't long before the tell-tale time for dinner rolled through.
"Ah, we should probably go, I am starving," Rodrick remarked, immediately collecting his belongings.
Daphne, her stomach agreeing with the sentiment, promptly nudged Tracey awake as she collected her own things.
