Dancing had not been a skill his grandfather had seen any need in teaching him. Which was probably why he'd stepped on Daphne's feet one too many times- And by one, he meant the fact he'd done it one more time than her.
He'd kept track.
The funny part about it all though was the fact she hadn't been mad about it and had actually looked relieved for some reason.
Astoria in the few turns he'd had to dance with the younger girl was actually quite better than both of them, which had been a surprise given what he'd learned of the girl's impulsive personality so far.
Still, it hadn't gone badly at all, despite the somewhat wary start to it all. When Daphne's parents had joined them from the other room and actually given them a few tips on it, and showed them what they were supposed to do, it'd made it a lot easier.
Turns out only his grandfather believed in the sink-or-swim method of teaching.
He let out a breath as he walked into his room for the stay, the fatigue of the day finally catching up to him- He wasn't planning to sleep just yet, given the sun had barely gone out and Daphne evidently had some plans left, but given the exertion so far, he'd wanted to at the very least have a moment to breathe, to actually try and process everything that had gone so far.
Idly turning his head around a few times, his gaze thankfully landed rather quickly on the shower. Evidently, there was one in every room, guest ones included. Quickly locking his room's door out of instinct, though using magic for once, he walked into the aforementioned shower and quickly found himself surprised as he watched his somewhat sweaty clothes vanish off of him as soon as he swept through the door.
He blinked a few times, with a frown, before he walked further in and found himself in an... Empty room? Bath? He looked around, hoping to find some sort of- Only to immediately freeze as he watched water randomly start flowing through every crevice on the walls. For a brief moment, he found himself tense as the water reached, before he let out a sigh of relief when the temperature felt almost perfect as it flowed over him. And as he looked down at his hands, he was surprised to note the bubbles that were rapidly forming around him, which meant it wasn't entirely water alone. But arguably the most surprising turn was the sheer relaxation that filled him as the water slowly and surely covered him entirely.
He simply closed his eyes and let the relaxed feeling take hold, idly noticing the fact the water quickly covered said eyes as soon as he did.
He felt his fatigue and stress and practically everything else ebb away slowly. He wasn't entirely sure how much time had passed before reopening his eyes, but when he did he found himself staring at a mirror that had appeared on the northern wall.
He walked closer to the mirror and laid a few fingers on it, his eyes widened the slightest bit as he took in his real face. The signs of his transfiguration evidently worn off due to the water- Which suggested the level of enchantment on it was a lot higher than he'd thought...
Yet, that didn't matter as he simply took it in. Took in the face he hid from the rest of the world. Took in the face that eerily resembled his grandfather when he'd been his age. His gaze noticed the fact the low amount of blonde hair strands that flowed through his black hair had grown in number... As well the fact the length of his hair had grown a rather considerable bit since the last time he'd seen his face.
His yellow eyes, the only part that didn't resemble his grandfather, stayed the same, transfigured or not.
Shaking his head the slightest bit, he didn't let the feeling it brought up stay.
It was a few moments past that the shower of enchanted water came to a halt, his need or thought for it to be over evidently showing through as it obliged him and instead filled the room with... A rather refreshing bout of cold steam. His body and hair almost immediately dried, though the latter seemed content to stay out of its usual shape, instead covering bits of his view.
Idly waving a hand over his face, he quickly placed it under his usual transfiguration and made sure every strand on his head was as black as it could be, and... He mulled over the thought for a moment about whether to reduce it back to its regular size...
With a hint of slight excitement? He wasn't sure if it could be called that, but he decided to at the very least keep it somewhat longer than usual. Not to the length it actually was, but not to the length he usually covered it too.
It wasn't exactly uncommon for a wizard's hair to randomly grow a few inches after all.
With that done, he... Found himself hesitating the slightest bit as he stared at the closed door to his room on account of not actually knowing where his clothes had vanished to. Slowly, he pulled open the door and peeked through to make sure there was no one around, only to blink owlishly at the fact it didn't lead to his room, but rather what looked like a massive closet. Opening the door fully, he walked in slowly, his gaze roaming all around the number of draws that reached up to the ceiling and found himself attacked as a few of them opened and different pieces of clothing rapidly covered him up.
He stood still for a few seconds, dazed, before his gaze landed back on a mirror before him, showcasing him fully dressed in surprisingly comfortable clothes.
"...Freakin' hell." He muttered under his breath before shaking his head at the absurdity of it all. "Is everything enchanted here?" He continued again before he took in the rather clearly green-color-themed... Pajamas? They were certainly comfortable enough to sleep in and looked rather appealing to him at that. The snake symbols spread throughout them at least made the color fit.
He found himself wondering whether the Greengrass's just had what looked to be hundreds of pieces of clothing for a boy his age despite only having two daughters, or whether there was a different kind of enchantment involved... Were the clothes magically made? Did they just need the materials for them- He was honestly rather stumped at it all.
Regardless... He held in a shiver at the thought.
Daphne really wasn't as spoiled as she should be!
"Merlin if I lived like this, I am not sure I could manage to keep such an open view... Of everything really." He shook his head slightly at the thought. At the very least it explained why she seemed so aloof sometimes.
He briefly wondered just how the girl had adapted to living at Hogwarts if she'd come from a place like this.
Idly turning around, he found his gaze going through the open door and unsurprisingly, landed right at his room.
...He could really get used to something like this, he thought to himself for a moment before shaking it away.
He had a feeling he was very very far away from considering that train of thought.
He doubted you could just find a place like this on any market- No, this had to be the result of generations on generations of wizards and witches slowly improving a single estate up.
With that settled, he took in a deep breath and calmly walked back into his room, before unlocking the door to it and going through-
And found himself almost crashing into the girl waiting for him just outside of it.
"Oh! I was just about to knock." The girl quickly said, before blinking a few times as she tilted her head up and reached a hand out toward his hair. "Huh, looks longer." She remarked, freezing her hand just short of touching said hair and slowly returning it back to her side, her eyes locking to his own.
"That's 'cos it is." He shrugged.
"Hm, I think it looks better." She smiled at him. "You should grow it out a bit more."
"Oh..." He paused again. "Thanks?" He shrugged with a slight grin.
Oddly enough, that made him feel somewhat relieved.
She nodded absentmindedly at that, before looking him over with a slight frown.
"...I told my mom your favorite color was green as a joke." She deadpanned. "I didn't think it was true."
He briefly looked down again, before snorting at the girl.
"According to the closet, it might as well be." He deadpanned, repeating the same words he'd said to the woman in question. "Guess they weren't kidding about Slytherin stereotypes huh? Or maybe whoever made your closest just had one color in mind?" He indicated the fact of her own choice of coloring... He was pretty sure they were pajamas, he doubted they were going out for the evening.
She snorted at that.
"Oh, right I forgot to tell you- I think the house elf just decided to only give you two colors to choose from... So, it was either black or green..." The girl remarked, idly looking away from him. "No idea where she got the idea from." She had the audacity to finish with a slight whistle.
"They're your favorite colors aren't they?" He deadpanned again.
"...No?" She answered, slowly locking eyes with him again, amused.
"Then why are you wearing green?"
The girl answered with an utterly straight face. "My house elf recommended it."
"Right."
She nodded again, before grabbing his hand and turning on the spot. "Now, come on, movies' gonna start soon."
He nodded absent-
Wait, what?
Movie?
Were... Were they actually going out like this!?
