"Avengers material, huh?" Kevin eyed the one-eyed man. "Am I in the running?"

"If you join us, you could be," Nick replied with a smirk. He was going to tempt the boy into the Avengers fold.

There was no denying that the boy possessed a very handy ability, a potential asset that could prove immensely useful for the team and for the SHIELD alike. Similar to the absorbing man, he had that unique ability, but his prowess surpassed that of his counterpart.

"I think i need time to think on that." Kevin replied with a frown. The offer was tempting, but he had enough fighting for now. He was with Rooters, fought for his life and for missions. He wasn't too keen here, not when there were absurd villains and stuffs to deal here. Someday, he might accept, but the current setting didn't appeal to him.

"Is there some kind of part-time deal?" Kevin inquired instantly. He wanted to explore a compromise that wouldn't fully commit him. The government-affiliated individuals wielded official power, a tempting perk that lingered despite his reluctance. The allure of benefits compelled him to consider joining, even if it wasn't his first choice. There was always the fun he could have by joining with them.

"Hmm... Part-time depends on your skills," Fury stated after pondering the option.

Dealing with enhanced individuals posed challenges, explaining why he was the government's go-to. Adjustments were necessary for such deals. If he hadn't made adjustments or sacrifices on their part, they wouldn't have achieved want they have till now. It presented a good opportunity to assess and gauge Kevin's actual skills, to determine if his abilities matched the talk.

"I am skilled," Kevin asserted. "I stole without triggering any alarms in his building," he added, pointing to Reed Richards, who was observing the meeting with curiosity.

"We will see. Tomorrow, we'll pick you," Fury declared with a nod, finalizing the meeting. Steve and Reed caught the cue and prepared to leave.

As they left, Kevin's smirk widened, as he realized his accomplishments. Not only had he made peace with Wakanda, but he also secured a potential opportunity for the Avengers initiative while keeping himself from behind the bars.

"It ain't bad." He said to himself in the solitude of the room. It wasn't really bad at all.

Kevin was surprised when a bald man in a suit knocked on his door. He recognized him as Coulson, one of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. If he remembered correctly which he did from the files of S.H.I.E.L.D. Then the man infront of him was one of the highest ranked agents in the organization. He had an awesome track record as a Professional. Behind him were two other people in suits. Both males with blank faces.

"Hello, Kevin," Coulson said. His olding face sporting a smile as he looked at the young boy infront of him.

"I'm here to take you to Nick Fury. He wants to talk to you about something important. I suspect you already know."

Kevin nodded. He did know what was the matter here. He had been offered a chance to join the Avengers, a team of superheroes, but he was not sure if he wanted to. But then again, joining them would give him unlimited perks. Perks which heroes get. He would get publicity, a monetary salary, love of people, government offers specially for them. There were many things in the line. But the most important was the government immunity which he would get from their side.

"A second please. You can come in Phil." Kevin said as he moved back for the entry of the man. The man was good enough to mask his surprise as he entered the room.

Kevin went to the table and took the shield of Vibranium with him. It was the only Vibranium material left in the room apart from his chain. Surprisingly T'challa had decided to leave the Vibranium shield with him and take the other smaller stuffs with him. Apparently the shield was a symbol of trust between them.

Phil looked at the Shield. The Shield was exactly the same dimensions with that of Captain America's. Fury wasn't kidding that the boy could be a mine of anything.

They all moved out of the room after Kevin locked the room. Kevin followed Coulson to a black SUV parked outside the hotel. Kevin opened the door to the SUV. Coulson took the driver's seat while Kevin sat next to him.

Kevin spotted two other teenagers sitting in the back seat. They were looking at him with curiosity and interest. One was a redhead girl, who had a friendly smile. The other was a blonde boy, who had a cocky grin.

"Hi, I'm Wanda," the girl said first. "This is my brother, Pietro. We're also here to see Fury. He said he has something for us."

"Hi, I'm Kevin," Kevin replied, feeling awkward. He wondered who they were, and what they could do. He wondered if they were like him, or different. There were tons of different people with different set of powers here. Some were outright frightening with their skillset.

"Pietro." The boy besides her said in a bored tone.

Kevin nodded. The boy's tone indicated his interest. There was no need to inquire more.

Coulson started the car as the SUV infront of them started to move. He followed behind the car as another car followed them. They slowly drove through the roads.

They finally reached a huge facility on the outer side of New York. The talk inside the car was minimum with Coulson and Wanda talking the most.

Once they reached there, they all emerged out the room. Kevin and the others followed Coulson through the huge SHIELD building. The other two were feeling overwhelmed by the sight of agents working everywhere. Kevin saw people in suits, uniforms, and lab coats, carrying files, weapons, and gadgets. He saw screens, monitors, and holograms, displaying maps, data, and images. He saw doors, corridors, and elevators, leading to different levels and sections. He wondered what secrets and mysteries were hidden in this place. There could be many.

He glanced at Wanda and Pietro, who were walking beside him. They looked as amazed and curious as he was, though they weren't able to mask it. They had said they wanted to join the Avengers, and to make a difference in the world.

Kevin felt a connection with them, and a sense of hope. They too were apparently mutants. Kevin suspected he was one too. However he wasn't sure though. Maybe they could be his friends, and his allies. There was still time to see. The word 'Friends' didn't help but confuse him either. It had been so long that he worked alone. The word 'Friend' sounded and felt so strange.

They reached the end of the building, and Coulson opened a door that led to the large grounds behind it. Kevin saw a green field, with trees, flowers, and benches. He also saw a man, standing near a target range. He was the only one there. He wore a blue and white suit, and held a shield in his hand. Kevin instantly recognized the man. He knew who he was, and what he was doing there. There was another. He had a bow and arrow with him.

Coulson cleared his throat, and spoke.

"Kevin, Wanda, Pietro, I'd like you to meet Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America. He's the leader of the Avengers, and the first super soldier. He's here to welcome you, and to test your skills."

Kevin felt a surge of respect. He knew Captain America was the first superhero, and the legend of this world. He knew he was a symbol of freedom, and justice. He was the original owner of the shield he had made a copy of. He inwardly wondered what he would say to him, and what he would think of him. Perhaps the Super Soldier could teach him on using the shield fancifully.

"Hello, kids," Captain America said. His face sported a smile as he greeted them. "It's nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you from Fury. He says you have some amazing abilities, and that you want to join our team. Is that true?"

Besides Kevin and the man with bow and arrow, the two siblings nodded excitedly.

"Good. We shall start now."
