The Christmas decorations were packed away in their boxes, stowed in the back of the closet until December rolled around again, all except a couple of strings of lights, artfully arranged over the big screen TV, and the top of the shelves where their books, CDs, and DVDs were stored. Making sure they were securely fixed and wouldn't fall down, Dee turned them on.

"How's that?"

Ryo smiled. "Perfect! Leaving the lights up was a great idea."

"Yeah, now all that's left is to take the tree down to the sidewalk for recycling." Dee eyed it apprehensively. "Don't know how we're gonna do that without leavin' a trail of pine needles."

"We could wrap it in a bedsheet, carry it down like that."

"You're brilliant!" Dee grabbed his lover and planted a kiss on him that left him breathless.

Fifteen minutes later, they manhandled the wrapped bundle into the elevator, glad it was currently working so they wouldn't have to lug their heavy burden down four flights of stairs. Propping the tree in one corner, Ryo hit the button for the lobby, and they started down.

Dee snickered. "Anyone sees us, they'll think we're tryin' to dispose of a body."
