Chapter 9
...
William's body continued to crackle with lightning as he stared down at the enemy. The Elemental grinned at the prospect of having a decent battle for once.
"That's...Impossible." Came a familiar voice as someone walked in front of Alex. "He's using his powers."
Alex was surprised to see the presence of William's mother. Did she know the enemy was here and if so, how? Deciding to get answers she walked beside Jenna and asked. "What do you mean by that and what are these powers of his?"
Jenna looked at Alex and for a moment it looked like she was unsure of answering but eventually she did open her mouth to speak. "William is a Lightning Elemental." She replied. Jenna noticed the look on the girl's face as if she had found the missing piece of a puzzle.
"Elemental, I see. That doesn't explain why you were surprised about him using his powers." Alex said. She was surprised though, to think he was a member of the magical world and an Elemental of all things.
Jenna frowned. "I'm sure you're aware of how he was treated as a boy." She spoke. Almost immediately Alex glared at her telling the woman that she did indeed know how he was treated, and she seemed to hate her for it.
Alex silently glared at her for a few moments before giving her a look as if telling her to speak.
"William swore to never use his powers a few months after his father began beating him." She began.
'And yet you just let him beat your son.' She thought with anger.
"He claimed he didn't have a reason to get stronger anymore. He didn't have anyone he wanted to protect, I Wasn't there for him and his father sure the hell wasn't either."
"Whose fault do you think that is?" Alex asked. "Because of your screw up he has trouble with his emotions."
Jenna darted her eyes away from her field of view. "However, he's using his powers. It's as powerful as it was when he was a child. I can practically feel the air vibrating, if he's using them that means he's found something to fight for."
Alex narrowed her eyes. If that was true, she had to wonder what it was he was fighting for.
William didn't show any emotion as he charged forward and instantly got inside the enemy's guard appearing all around him at once landing all kinds of strikes. His attacks were flawless, one of his punches sent him flying, he wasn't done however as he appeared behind him as he began to fall to the ground and kicked him sending him flying once more, he appeared in front of him and now he was a glorified punching bag as the enemy's body was sent back and forth all across the battlefield, feeling his enemy had enough William jumped in the air and gathering lightning to his feet he landed a powerful axe kick sending him crashing to the ground, effectively ending the battle.
"That was pretty one sided, wasn't it? That guy was pretty weak." Alex muttered to herself; Jenna must have heard what she said because she glanced at her.
"I don't think that's it, William is simply faster, and the enemy can't keep up with his speed, despite not using his powers in years it seems his body still knows how to fight." Jenna said.
Alex absorbed everything she had said and couldn't deny how much sense it made. He was a lightning Elemental; they were said to be the strongest of all Elementals.
William put his guard up as someone who he assumed was another Elemental appeared in a vortex of flames. The man had brown hair and brown eyes. The man looked kind of surprised to see him. "So... it's you guys who've recklessly been taken out the police precincts?"
The man looked surprised by his comment for a few seconds before his expression turned cold. "I see no reason to tell you anything, boy." He replied before walking towards the enemy William had just taken down.
He picked up his injured comrade, draping him over his shoulder; he shared one last look with William before turning around. "Aren't you going to fight?"
The enemy gave him a sideways glance. "It's not worth it and while your death is inevitable it's not like you alone can stop our plans."
'We'll see about that.' He thought as he glared at his back while the enemy walked away. There were a lot of unanswered questions but at least for the moment they were safe.
Alex walked away from Jenna, her expression changed from irritated and angry to that of concern and worry as she walked beside William. She could see his face was a mix of all sorts of emotions.
"William? You're an Elemental huh, that's cool." Alex said with a smile. William turned his head towards her and although he was surprised, she knew of his heritage he smirked.
"How do you- "
"Know about Elementals and the magical world as a whole?" Alex finished with that smile of hers never disappearing.
Alex took his silence as her que and continued. She leaned down and lifted her right pant leg and retrieved her wand from her boot. "I'm a wizard."
William allowed his surprise to show, he had to admit out of all things he expected her to say her being a wizard wasn't one of them though he had to admit it made perfect sense. No wonder she knew about Elementals. He had so much he was confused about right now, but he was content that Alex was safe.
"Those guy's...they didn't outright say that they were behind the attacks on the precincts, but they admitted to having ulterior motives and he all but said he'd return for you in the future." Alex said.
William glanced at her. "I'm certain that these guys are behind the recent tragedies, what those people are after I couldn't even begin to tell you."
"What do you plan on doing about this? It's obvious that these guys are going to come after us again." Alex said. It was obvious these guys knew him for reasons unknown to her and like she said previously they would strike again.
"That can wait, for now you should go home."
Alex didn't look like she liked that idea very much.
"Come on." William said. "Or do you plan on making your family worried?"
"Alright, but we're going to talk about this tomorrow." Alex said, which caused him to nod, he began to walk away. He swiftly walked past his mother who balled her hands into fists.
"Take care of yourself." William said, Alex walked beside him as the duo headed towards the Waverly substation.
Jenna looked surprised; her eyes widened. 'Is it even possible? Can he find it in his heart to forgive someone as cruel as me?' She thought.
