Chapter 23
Mall Trouble
Next day in class. Freya and Izuku stood in front fo their friends. Bakugo sat in his seat arms crossed. Kaminari, Kirishima, Seto, and Mina looked like they wanted to cry. Freya felt bad for Mina and Kaminari. They had been looking forward to the Training Camp.
"Everyone. I'm looking forward to hearing all your stories of how fun camp was." Mina said, crying. Sero stood behind Freya and Izuku.
"Maybe they'll end up letting you go!" Freya said.
"Yeah. There might be a last-minute twist or something." Izuku said. Sero put a hand on Izuku's shoulder.
"Stop it, Freya. Midoriya... By saying that out loud, you're just jinxing them." Sero said. Freya sighed.
"They said whoever failed the exams would have to skip training camp and live in summer school hell. We didn't pass the practical's, so we're doomed." Kaminari said. He turned and looked angry. "Don't you get it, Midoriya, Freya?!" Freya dodged as Kaminari went and poked Izuku in the eyes. Izuku screamed in pain. "Or did All Might knock all the brains outta you?"
"Brat. Get over here. There's no talking sense into those idiots." Bakugo said. Freya sighed and went to sit in her desk.
"I just hate seeing them upset they can't go." Freya said.
"I know, but they did loose." Bakugo said. Freya sighed.
"I'm not sure I'll get to go, either. Our team only passed thank to Mineta." Sero said. Mineta had a smug look on his face. "I got knocked out, and since we don't know how they're scoring stuff, I might have flunked." Kaminari was in tears as Izuku held his eyes.
"At least bring us back lots of camp souvenirs, please?" Kaminari shouted. Freya sighed as the door to the class burst open and Aizawa stood in the door.
"Once the bell rings you should be in your seats." Aizawa said. Everyone jumped in their seats. Aizawa stood in front of the class. "Morning. Unfortunately, there are a few of you who did not pass your final exams." Kaminari, Kirishima, Seto, and Kirishima all look down. "So, when it comes to the training camp in the woods..." There was a moment pause and Aizawa got a huge grin on his face. "Everyone is going!" Freya sighed in relief.
'Last minute twist. Thank goodness.' Freya thought as the four looked relieved.
"We really get to go camp?" Kirishima asked.
"Seriously?" Mina asked.
"Yeah. The good news is that no one bombed the written exam. Five failed the practical badly. Two teams, of course, and then Sero failed as well." Aizawa said. Sero let out a yell. Freya felt so bad for him.
"Aw! Crap. I knew it! Mineta made it to the gate, but I didn't do near enough to pass." Sero said. Mineta had a smug look on his face. Freya shook her head at him.
"Allow me to explain. For the practical battles, the teachers made sure to leave a way for the students to win. Otherwise, you never would have stood a chance. We were interested in observing how you each worked together and approached the task at hand." Aizawa said.
"But, dad, didn't you promise that the teachers wouldn't be holding back?" Freya asked.
"That was just to get you on edge. Besides, the training camp will focus on building your strength. Those who failed need those lessons the most. We were never going to separate you." Aizawa said. He had a crazed smile on his face and Freya swore he was enjoying this. "That was just a logical deception we used." Freya sighed.
'Why does he have to be my father? He's embarrassing me.' Freya thought. Iida shot to his feet with his hand in the air.
"Mr. Aizawa, this is the second time you've lied to us! Aren't you afraid we'll lose faith in you?" Iida demanded.
"Uh, a little blunt there, Tenya." Uraraka said.
"That's a good point. I'll consider it. But I wasn't lying to you about everything. Failure is failure." Aizawa said. His eyes land on those that failed the Practical. We've prepared extra lessons for the five of you!" The five students look down in disappointment. "Frankly, they'll be far tougher than what you'd face at summer school."
Later that day. Training Camp Guides were handed out to everyone. Freya was looking hers over.
"This will be great. I'm so glad we're all going together." Ojiro said.
"Looks like we'll be at the training camp a full week." Freya said, looking at Bakugo as he got out of his desk. Freya grabbed her bag and swung it over her shoulder.
"I've gotta find a bigger suitcase." Izuku said.
"Yeah, I don't even have a bathing suit. Guess I need to buy some stuff." Kaminari said.
"Like night vision goggles!" Mineta said, popping his head in.
"Guys since we're off tomorrow and we finally finished exams; I have the best idea! Why doesn't Class 1-A go shopping together." Hagakure said.
"That sounds like a good idea." Freya said, causing Bakugo to huff.
"Hey, yeah! We've never hung out as a class before." Kaminari said. Uraraka and Freya nodded in agreement.
"Bakugo. Freya. See you there, right?" Kirishima asked as Bakugo grabbed Freya's arm to pull her out.
"I.." Bakugo started.
"He'll be coming with me, so yes we'll see you there." Freya said before Bakugo could finish, getting a glare from him. Bakugo pulled her out of the classroom.
"I do not want to spend a day with all the extras." Bakugo growled as they walk out of the school.
"Well, you're going. We need to get stuff for the training camp. I'll drag you out of your house if I have to." Freya said, glaring at Bakugo. Bakugo sighed, because he knew she would, and his mother would help.
"Fine." Bakugo said. Freya squealed and hugged him.
"Thank you." Freya said. They headed off towards home, but unknown to them, someone was watching the two from the shadows. He smirked evilly and slipped back deeper into the shadows.
The next day. They met their classmates at the mall. It was busy. They met in the center of the mall. Bakugo stood with his arms crossed as Freya talked to the girls.
"Oh, man, do I love this place." Mina said. Freya looked around. "It's got a ton of different stores to shop at, and they're all super cool and hip. The Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall!" Mina shot her arm up. Izuku started mumbling about what he wanted, and Bakugo was ready to walk away.
"He keeps this up, I'm dragging you away. And we're going home." Bakugo growled to Freya.
"Behave." Freya whispered. Bakugo just walked with his arms crossed. Kirishima threw his arm around Bakugo.
"Come on and relax Bakugo. Have some fun." Kirishima said. Bakugo threw Kirishima's arm off.
"Get off me, Shitty Hair." Bakugo growled. Freya sighed.
"I will leave you to go with the girls and you can hang out with Kirishima." Freya said. Bakugo glared at her.
"You are not leaving me alone with this idiot!" Bakugo said. Mina linked arms with Freya and they walk off giggling. Bakugo stormed after them. "Idiots." They met up with Jiro, Hagakure and Yaoyorozu. The girls stood talking as the boys tried to figure some stuff out.
"Whoa! Aren't those UA students?!" Freya saw some people in the crowd pointing their way.
"I saw them on TV!"
"The Sports Festival was so good!" Freya smiled.
"Tch. More fans." Bakugo growled.
"Hey, look. It's the first runner up." Bakugo vein burst. "He has a wicked Quirk. Especially with the temper of his." Kirishima had to grab Bakugo from attacking the poor guys.
"Say that to my face, you extras!" Bakugo yelled. Freya sighed.
"Offer to come with us is still on the table." Jiro said.
"I think I will with his temper." Freya said.
"Don't even think about it." Bakugo growled, ripping himself free from Kirishima.
"I can't believe they still remember that." Uraraka said with a laugh.
"I wanna track down a new duffel bag to bring to summer training." Jiro said.
"Oh, yeah? Maybe the two of us can browse together." Yaoyorozu said.
"I need some new shoes for the camp plus a backpack." Freya said.
"You're with me, Brat." Bakugo said.
"I'll tag along with you two." Kirishima said. Bakugo glared at him.
"Sounds good." Freya said. They decided to split up. Bakugo wasn't thrilled as he walked with Freya and Kirishima. Freya could tell he was not happy about it. Freya took Bakugo's hand as she walked next to him. "Thank you for coming."
"Tch. It be better if Shitty Hair wasn't with us." Bakugo said, pulling her against his side. Freya kissed his check. Bakugo just smirked as Kirishima ran into a shop. "Let's ditch him now."
"It's actually a shop that I want to stop at." Freya said. Bakugo groaned as Freya pulled him into the store. Freya, Kirishima, and Bakugo were able to get the stuff they needed. Freya had to use the bathroom. She was washing her hands.
"Attention Customers. Because of certain circumstances we will be closing the mall now. Please find the proper exit and leave." The Announcer said. Freya wondered what happened. Freya ran out to look for Bakugo and Kirishima.
A hand reached out and grabbed her and another hand went to her mouth. Freya's body tensed. How did she not notice.
"Be a good girl and don't scream." The man's voice said as she felt a blade in her back. Freya's blood ran cold.
'That voice. I haven't heard it since... Since Mom died.' Freya thought.
"FREYA! Where the hell did she go!" Bakugo called. Freya bit the man's hand.
"Ouch, little bitch." The man said.
"Bakugo! Here!" Freya called and felt a stabbing pain in her neck. The man injected some tranquilizer in her. Bakugo turned to see a man holding Freya with a needle in her neck. Rage filled him.
"Let her go!" Bakugo yelled. Freya saw white spots as Bakugo headed their way. Bakugo's eyes widen as a sword blade came out of the man's hand and the man tossed it. It moved fast and Bakugo didn't have time to move. Freya felt her body weakening but she nearly screamed as the blade hit Bakugo in the stomach.
"Bakugo!" Kirishima yelled, running towards them as Freya fall limp in the man's arms. "Freya!" The man tossed the girl over his shoulder.
"Don't follow or the girl will die. Send word to Aizawa that we will be in contact soon." The man said and he disappeared into the shadows.
"Get back here, you bastard!" Bakugo yelled. He gripped the blade.
"Bro. I don't think that's a good idea. You'll bleed out and it wouldn't do Freya any good if your dead." Kirishima said. Police came and Bakugo was put a stretcher when they called for paramedics. Kirishima reported what happened and that Freya was taken.
Later. Aizawa got a call one of his students was in the hospital and worse, his daughter was missing. Kirishima had called saying Bakugo wanted a word with him. Aizawa pushed the door to the hospital door open to find Bakugo pulling wires off him.
"You're still healing. I don't think it's a good idea." Kirishima said.
"That bastard has Freya and I'll be damned if anything happened to her." Bakugo said, through gritted teeth as he pulled at his stitches. "Damnit. I promised her as kids that I protect her. I'm gonna keep the promise." Kirishima looked and saw Aizawa standing there.
"Mr. Aizawa. We tried to stop him." Kirishima said.
"I know. You said the man had a message." Aizawa said.
"He said he'll be in contact soon." Bakugo growled, standing up. Aizawa pinched his nose. Aizawa heard his phone go off. "Put it on speaker, I want to hear what the asshole has to say." Aizawa saw it was Freya's number calling. Aizawa answered and did put it on speaker.
"Freya. Are you..."
"Hello Shota Aizawa. You might not know me, but you been hunting me for years since I killed your wife." The man said. Bakugo and Kirishima looked shocked. "Here is your options. I can take Freya to my boss, who would love to use her Quirks, or you can come in her place. He prefers her Quirks because she is one of two force users in Japan, but he would like your Quirk as well. Your choice. I wait your answer and I'll send you my location. You have an hour." The line went dead. Aizawa looked like he wanted to murder someone. The man who murdered his wife had their daughter. Bakugo looked like he was ready to jump out the window to blow down any door to find Freya.
"What are we going to do?" Kirishima said.
"I'm sending him a message I'll take her spot to get Freya back, but I'm going in to get her out and take him out." Aizawa said.
"We're coming with. Get the old hag down here and have her heal me. She's my girlfriend and I'm not gonna let you do this alone." Bakugo said.
"And I'm going to. Freya's my friend." Kirishima said. Aizawa sighed.
"Fine." Aizawa said. He sent a message to Recovery Girl to come heal Bakugo. Bakugo looked out the window.
'Hold on, Brat. I'm coming.' Bakugo thought.
AN: Hmm. Whose the boss. I think you guys can figure it out. Next chapter is a flashback on some stuff that I'm sure you will like. Till next time.
