Chapter 49

Planning the Festival

Freya was busy with extra classes and that let Bakugo disappear from their friends to do the planning and slept, not wanting to deal with the idiots unless Freya was with him. Freya found out when they got back that they were doing a concert with Jiro's instruments and Mina teaching them dancing. It didn't surprise Freya with the instruments. Jiro had a ton of them, and Freya and the girls had spent time in the room to learn to play.

Freya sat with her father as they ate lunch together. Freya had talked to Hado and the others about the Beauty pageant, and they were able to work where Freya could come get hair and makeup done before her concert with her class and they have two hours to dress for the pageant. Hado was excited to have her. Bakugo had agreed to come watch the pageant and the two would go off and enjoy the festival as a date. Freya was happy to hear that Eri was doing well and Aizawa was in the works to get her to the Festival for the day.

"So, are you, her guardian?" Freya asked. Aizawa nodded.

"Her grandfather is in a coma and her mother wants nothing to do with her after Eri's father died. But right now, she's staying at the hospital, but things could change. I can't say much till we know for sure." Aizawa said. Freya bit into her food.

"That's good. I won't say anything, father." Freya said. Aizawa knew she would.

"You're gonna be busy these next few weeks between your class and the beauty pageant." Aizawa said.

"I will. Will you be able to come see both of them?" Freya asked, knowing the teachers will be patrolling during the festival.

"I got the okay to come to both. Especially with you being in both." Aizawa said with a nod. Freya smiled happily. She grabbed the trays and kissed her father on the check as she left for her classes.

After school. Freya kissed Bakugo on the check as she walked him out.

"Still making up classes from your work study?" Ojiro asked as the others stood waiting at the door.

"Yeah." Kirishima said with a groan.

"Yes. Sorry." Izuku said.

"I'll see you later tonight." Freya said to Bakugo. Bakugo let out a grunt, not happy it was taking her away from him.

"Aw, there's no need to apologize. We'll handle the school festival prep while you catch up." Ojiro said. Freya, Kirishima, and Izuku head in and Bakugo walked behind the others as they head back to the dorms.

"We have, like, so many decisions to make about costumes and choreography." Mina said.

"What music do you think the rest of the school would enjoy?" Shoji asked, looking at Jiro.

"We should do whatever's trendy. Right, Jiro?" Kaminari asked. Jiro looked at him and hummed. Bakugo looked bored as he walked.

"Hey, did ya hear?" Bakugo looked to see two students walking by, talking. "Class 1-A from the Hero Course is doing a concert. And it's for us."

'General Studies.' Bakugo thought. Both of them didn't look happy about the idea of a concert.

"Oh my God, talk about egotistical. Do they think we're, like, dying to see them do some kind of dumb performance?" The girl said.

"Well, yeah. We all know they're clueless. What did they do after getting attacked by villains? They went to a summer camp, where, of course, they got attacked again. We all know how that turned out. And we have to put up with the repercussions of their stupidity even though it was their fault." The boy said. Bakugo glared at the two as they walked away. Bakugo didn't seem happy about those words. He wondered if a concert was a good idea.

Back in the dorms. Bakugo stood with his arms crossed.

"The School Festival is one month away! We don't have much time. We should start making decisions right now.

"First, we need to pick out a song, right?" Hagakure said. Bakugo sighed. "What should we do?"

"I don't know much about popular music, so I'll leave that up to you guys." Ojiro said.

"Same." Shoji said.

"If we're doing this for everyone, shouldn't it be a song that most people know, so they could dance and sing along with us?" Kaminari asked. Jiro was tapping her head.

"It's gotta be something with a good beat!" Sero said.

"Yeah! So, we can get down!" Mina said. Jiro turned to her friends.

"With those things in mind, I think I know what would make sense. A hardcore four-on-the-floor club song. It'll be like a rave-meets-rock show. As for dance music, EDM would probably be the most popular." Jiro said. She spun one of her earphone jacks in her finger. "But you guys want to play instruments, right?"

"Huh?" A few of her friends asked. Jiro nearly facepalmed.

"Anyone play bass or drums or anything?" Jiro asked. Silence and confused faces look at Jiro like she was nuts. Jiro sighed. "Okay. Well, I'd say that drums are the backbone of any band. I'd take on the responsibility myself, but honestly, I main the guitar, not percussion. Teaching a beginner to play an instrument while practicing myself would be impossible to do in just one month." Kaminari smiled as he remembered something.

"Hey!" Kaminari said, turning towards Bakugo. Bakugo looked at him. "Didn't you accidentally admit your parents made you take music classes when you were a kid?"

"Huh?" Bakugo said.

"I think even Freya mentioned it to me that he's pretty good with an instrument." Mina said. Bakugo was gonna have a nice talk to Freya of mentioning that to the sidekicks as Sero grabbed some drumsticks.

"Awesome! Take a seat and show us what you've got!" Sero said. Bakugo turned his back on the idiots.

"In your dreams, moron!" Bakugo said.

"Right, I bet the drums are too hard for ya or would you rather serenade Freya with your music skills." Sero said with a smirk on his face. Bakugo felt rage slip through him, and he grabbed the drumsticks. He sat down on the drum set and played some music on the drums. He hit the bell and gave the others a look.

"Well?" Bakugo growled. Everyone looked impressed.

"Freya wasn't kidding." Yaoyorozu said.

"That was killer!" Jiro said.

"He's so good." Mineta said.

"Who'd have known that you've got talents?" Mina said, jumping up and down.

"That's it, Bakugo's gotta be our drummer!" Kaminari said.

"Heh." Bakugo said. He stood up and turned from the drums. "No way am I making a fool of myself up on that stage." He walked away. Jiro ran towards him, wishing Freya was there to help her.

"Bakugo, come on! Do it! If we rock this, everyone will have a great time!" Jiro said.

"Don't you get what's gonna happen?" Bakugo let out a growl. Jiro gasped. "I'll spell it out for you. We're doing this because we want to let the other courses blow off some steam, right? But we're the ones who caused their stress to begin with. So, we're just trying to make ourselves feel better." Bakugo said. He turned to the others with a glare. "This is gonna seem like a slap in the face from the people they can't stand." Jiro looked at Bakugo in shock.

"Don't be rude. We're just trying to help!" Hagakure said, throwing her fist in the air. Bakugo rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, that kinda thinking is what I'm talking about." Bakugo said, glaring more.

"I see. Perhaps he's right. Did we think this through enough?" Iida asked.

"You didn't help us decide what to do, so you can't complain now." Todoroki said.

"Doesn't all this make you mad? It's not like we wanted villains to show up and ruin things for everybody. Why do we have to be so concerned about how these weaklings feel? Stop trying to get on their good side! We're not here to make friends, we're here to fight! If we're gonna put on a show, then we can't hold anything back! Let's murder everyone in UA with killer music!" Everyone was silent at first, but smiles spread across the Class.

"Bakugo!" Students yell. Bakugo huffed.

"Your reasoning is scary, but if you'll do it, who cares." Hagakure said. Other yells come, but Bakugo just shrugged it off as his friends surrounded him. He was getting annoyed at their talks and started to tune them out.

"Alright. Let's figure out who else will be in the band." Jiro said after everyone calmed down.

"This might help. As part of my classical education, I've studied the piano since I was just a little girl. I'd be happy to play in the band if you need me." Yaoyorozu said.

"Aw, yeah! Momo will totally rock those keyboards!" Mina said.

"I mean we've gotta have someone on synth for the dance music. I think you'd be perfect for the gig!" Jiro said.

"Then I'll do my best!" Yaoyorozu said with excitement.

"Aww, I wanted all the girls to get together for a big choreo number, but you'll still look cute up on stage." Mina said with a look of sadness on her face.

"Bass is my specialty, so now we just need guitars and vocals." Jiro said.

"Okay. So does that mean everybody else will be dancing?" Ojiro asked. Iida put his hand to his face.

"Hmm. I'm not really sure this is enough to get the audience excited." Iida said.

"In that video I showed you earlier..." Todoroki started but Mina spun around and interrupted him.

"We've gotta have special effects!" Mina said.

"Exactly." Todoroki said.

"Special effects?" Sero asked. Mina grabbed a laptop and typed some stuff in and held up the laptop for everyone to see.

"This is what I'm talking about." Mina said. It was a picture of people dancing and there was a ball and stuff going on around the dancers. "See, they use sparks and streamers, a disco ball to fire everyone up! We gotta be extra to set the right mood!"

"Ooh, let's pull out all the stops and make it look like an explosion of lights, you guys!" Hagakure said.

"With our Quirks we can totally do that!" Mina said.

"And we'll make it work for Freya to do both the concert and beauty concert." Kaminari said, looking at Jiro. Jiro nodded.

"Freya said her and Hado would be working with us to do all that. There be days she's with us and days she's with Hado and the beauty pageant getting stuff ready." Jiro said.

"That's good we got one of us representing Class 1-A in the pageant." Iida said.

"We're putting this party on in the gym, is that right?" Sato asked as he looked at Iida.

"Uh-huh. Mr. Aizawa has already made the arrangements for us.

"Hold up! How's this for an idea? Uraraka makes Todoroki and Kirishima float. And then Kirishima chops away at Todoroki's ice and sends it flying. Then Aoyama can be a mirror ball, and the light twinkling off him and the ice will make it look like it's raining stardust. And... And we can call them "Team Snowmen"!"

"Ha, ha! A human shaved-ice machine!" Mineta said.

"It's like the team-ups we were talking about before!" Kaminari said.

"You want Moi to be a disco ball? I was born to do this." Aoyama said, with a pose.

"I can see it; the gym will look spectacular." Yaoyorozu said.

"Agreed! This is just what we all needed." Iida said with a huge smile.

"We'll have to have a crew working behind the scenes to pull this off though." Hagakure said.

"Hey, you guys." Bakugo turned and smiled. Freya, Kirishima, Izuku, Uraraka, and Tsu stood in the door, looking tired, but had smiles on their faces.

"Sorry we're showing up so late." Izuku said.

"We finally made up the classes we missed during our work studies." Uraraka said.

"Now we can help out for real!" Freya said.

"Ribbit." Tsu said. Everyone filled them in with what they missed. "So we've decided to go with rave rock club music for our performance?" Tsu said.

"That sounds like fun." Freya said.

"Having Jiro on the bass and Yaoyorozu on keyboards makes sense for sure, but..." Kirishima said.

"Bakugo on the drums is kind of, uh, how do I put it?" Uraraka said. Freya couldn't help but smile at Bakugo.

"Shocking?" Hagakure said. Bakugo felt a vein pop and he got mad.

"You got a problem with me?!" Bakugo yelled, his temper finally snapping. Freya pressed her lips together as everyone shook their heads.

"Give him a break. I heard him play, he's really good." Freya said. Jiro nodded. Freya walked up to Bakugo. "Calm down." Bakugo huffed and crossed his arms.

"Question. Who'll be singing? Isn't that the most important thing." Tsu asked.

"Well, we haven't' figured that part out yet." Jiro said.

"Huh? Doesn't it have to be you, Jiro?" Uraraka asked. Jiro had a panicked look on her face.

"Lead singers get all the chicks. I could do it." Mineta said.

"Just imagine a singing disco ball." Aoyama said. He says something in French that no one understood.

"Guys. Not to brag, but I'm a pretty awesome singer." Kirishima said. He started to sing. "Tough guy captain of the ship. Stand up tall. Cuz you are the manliest."

"Yeah, that's not the right genre." Freya said. Mineta starts yelling into the mic.

"And that's just yelling." Mina said. Aoyama does a high-pitched voice.

"Oh, boy. I'm with Ochaco." Hagakure said. She turned to Jiro. "It's gotta be you, Jiro."

"She's right." Freya came over to Jiro. "When you were teaching us how to play instruments in your room, your singing was super cool! We know you'll bring the house down!" Everyone nodded.

"Come on. It wasn't that great. Maybe we..." Hagakure shoved a mic in Jiro's face.

"Hey, look, a mic!" Hagakure said. Jiro looked at it in shock.

"We just laid our souls bare for them and they're ignoring us?" Mineta said, looking mad. Freya sighed. "Can Jiro really be that good? Ugh. I mean come on!"

"Don't be shy, show us those pipes!" Kirishima said with a huge smile. "We wanna hear ya sing something!" Jiro stood holding the mic. Bakugo came over to Freya's side. He was still not happy of his classmates not supporting him being on the drums, but he wanted to hear Jiro sing. He heard of Freya's learning to play instruments with the girls and how well Jiro could sing. Jiro took a deep breath and kept her eyes closed.

"You know everyone wants to sparkle. Like the stars in the night sky. In this wonderous place filled with all the dreams I've been wishing for waiting for the chance." Jiro sang. Freya couldn't help but smile at the amazed looks on their friends faces. Even Bakugo looked impressed. Jiro stopped and looked at everyone. Cheers rang through the class. Jiro saw Freya and Mina smiling.

"My ears are so happy!" Uraraka yelled.

"You have such a sultry voice." Mina said. Freya looked back and saw Kirishima, Mineta, and Aoyama laying on the ground in shock and sad they lost.

"Sore losers." Freya said with a chuckle.

"I told you!" Hagakure said.

"Not bad." Bakugo said. Freya shot him a smile.

"Alright! I'd call this a unanimous decision!" Iida said with a huge smile.

"Well. Let's set that aside, then." Jiro said with a blush on her face. "Now. We need guitars! I'm thinking two!" Kaminari's hand shot up.

"Oh, yeah! Pick me! It's so cool to play instruments!" Kaminari said.

"Let me strum!" Mineta said.

"I'd just break the strings." Kirishima grumbled. Bakugo glared at the guys.

"Don't you dare volunteer unless you're gonna kill it, dimwit!" Bakugo growled.

"Yeah! I totally will!" Kaminari said. Kaminari grabbed a guitar and strummed some strings. "The guitar is the star of every rock band." Mineta couldn't even reach the strings as he tried to play the guitar. He tossed the guitar on the ground.

"My fingers won't reach because of my character design." Mineta said. There were talks of dance crew.

"Freya." Freya turned to Mina. "Be on the dance crew with us. I can work with you extra nights when Hado has you with your dancing, so you don't fall behind." Freya nodded.

"I would like that." Freya said. Mina grinned. Bakugo chuckled. Tokoyami played the guitar earning silence from everyone.

"It's like that riff is speaking directly to my heart." Kirishima said.

"You can play? Why didn't you say anything?" Shoji asked.

"I put down the axe when I was bested by the F cord." Tokoyami said. He turned to Mineta who was huddled with his back to everyone. "Mineta, if you can't play for yourself, then I will strum for you as well."

"Do whatever you want, damn it. This is so stupid. Let's get this festival over with. I hope all your nails break off." Mineta asked.

"Mineta! Will you be part of the dance team if I can get a harem together?" Mina asked. That seemed to calm Mineta down.

"The School festival can't come soon enough!" Mineta said.

"That calmed him down." Uraraka said.

"Just don't let Katsuki hear about that." Freya mumbled as Bakugo was arguing with Kaminari. It was one in the morning when everything was decided.

"That's it. Everybody's role in the Festival has been decided! We've got the band team. And the effects team. And the dance team." Iida yelled. Rest up, guys! Starting tomorrow we're hard at work!" Iida called. Freya was part of the dance squad and Bakugo was part of the band.

"Yeah!" Everyone called. With that the plans for the concert had started and the students would be hard at work.

AN: Alright. I'll end it there. Till next time.
