Chapter 4, The Second spirit of Winter
Jack drifted in the northern winds, tossing and twirling like a snow flake high above the clouds. He was then swept up by another current and was pulled below the clouds. It was then that he lopped about before he the came below them.
"Woow!" he said.
Jack then flipped about and came upright. He then paused for a moment, gazing below at the town of Burgess, covered atop by a blanket of snow. Jack squinted his eyes, curiously.
"What?" he said.
He then flew down town. Twisting and turning in the wind before he came to land in the town square. Jack turned and glanced around at the park. Bunny and Tooth weren't kidding. The entire town was covered in ice and snow. He could see several people walking through the park, dressed in winter coats, mittens and scarfs. And it was the middle of Spring.
Jack shook his head.
"This doesn't make any sense." He said.
None of this could have been him. He hadn't been to Berk since winter had ended months ago. So where did all this Snow came from?
He then heard a couple of kids laughing in the distance. Jack then turned and looked passed the statue. He then leaped into the air and flew into a nearby tree, where he came perched over the branch. He then peered down below and saw Pippa, Monty, Caleb, Claude and Capcake throwing snow balls at each other.
Jack gasped in anticipation. He then leaped down from the tree and landed before the children.
"Well that looks like fun." he said.
"Jack!" Pippa said.
Caleb turned to the other kids.
"Hey guys, Jack's back!"
"Jack!" Monty said, leaning up as he readjusted his glasses.
The five friends came running up to Jack. He crouched down and came at the same level of the kids.
"Hey, kiddos." Jack said.
"What are you doing here?" Pippa asked, curiously.
"Yeah, we thought you weren't coming back until next winter." Claude said.
"Well, that's the thing." Jack said, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Do any of you know where any of this snow came from?"
Pippa frowned. She glanced back to Monty, Claude, Caleb and Cupcake, who shook their heads and shrugged. None of them had any idea of where the snow came. They all assumed that it was Jack.
"You mean... you didn't make it snow?" Monty asked, curiously.
Jack shook his head.
"No," Jack insisted as he stood up.
"I'm not suppose to make it snow until next winter. And not while it's Easter."
Jack then glanced around the park.
"Hey, where's Jamie?" He asked, glanced down at the five.
"He's probably with his new imaginary friend." Caleb said.
Jack squinted his eyes, curiously.
"Imaginary friend?" Jack asked.
"Yeah, he's got some new made up friend that lives in the woods." Claude explained.
"New friend, huh?" Jack said.
"Yeah, he said she's just like you." Pippa insisted.
"Just like me?" Jack said.
Pippa shook her head.
Jack landed over the roof of Jamie's house. He slid down to the edge of the roof before coming to Jamie's bedroom window. Jack then leaned over the edge before looking side. He then peered inside and saw Jamie packing his backpack with snacks and toys.
He then zipped up his beg and draped it over his back. He then turned and ran out his bedroom door. Jack then stood up. He then heard the back door slide open below. He gazed down and saw Jamie emerged from the kitchen door. He then turned and close the door behind him as he then ran down the steps of the patio.
Jack leaped off the roof and landed on the patio.
"Hey, Kiddo." he said.
Jamie then stooped. He looked back and saw Jack standing on the steps of the patio.
"Jack!" Jamie said.
Jamie ran up to Jack as he crouched down to him.
"What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you." Jack said.
"Do you know where all this snow came from?"
"Elsa made it."
Jack glanced to her, curiously.
"Elsa?" He asked, curiously.
"She's my new friend." Jamie insisted.
"Your friends were saying that." Jack said.
"You have a new friend?"
Jamie nodded his head.
"Yeah, her names Elsa and she have powers just like yours!" Jamie explained.
Jack squinted his eyes, curiously.
"Like mine?" He asked.
"Ahuh!" He said.
"And she can make these small snowman and she also made this huge Ice castle..."
Jack chuckled.
"Wow, wow, slow down, Jamie." He said.
"Come on, I'll show you!" Jamie said as he took Jack's hand.
He pulled jack along to the loose board of his fence. He pushed the board aside and stepped through the narrow opening. Jack slid through the fence, but got stuck in between the boards.
"Uh, Jamie." He said.
He glanced to the fence and pulled himself through the fence. He came out over the other side as Jame grabbed his hand again.
"Come on!" Jamie said, taking his hand.
Jamie then turned and the two made their way into the woods.
Jamie continued to pull Jack along through the woods, trudging though snow. Jack could hardly keep up with him. He could feel his bear feet sink into the deep soft snow before barging through as he followed Jamie.
"Jamie, slow down!" Jack said.
"Come on, Jack!" Jamie said.
Jamie then came into clearing. Jack was about to speak up before looking up into the clearing. Suddenly, he paused there and stood up, gazing to the palace of ice and snow.
"Wow..." He said, his eyes widened in awe as his mouth hung open.
"What is this..."
"This is where Elsa lives." Jamie insisted.
Jack looked down at Jamie.
"She... made this?" Jack asked, curiously.
Jamie nodded his head.
"Ahuh and she created these small snow man that come alive." Jamie explained.
"Come alive?" Jack said.
Jack glanced up at the doorway. He walked passed Jamie and came up the palace steps. And as he came up to the palace doors, he raised his hand and was about to knock. Jack paused for a moment and then knocked on the door. Suddenly the palace doors opened. Jack stepped back as he gazed inside the palace. Jamie came up the palace steps and came up next to Jack.
Jack then walked inside the palace. He came inside the castle and came into the middle of the palace. He glance around at the fountain in between the stairway and the chandelier which hung from above.
"Outstanding." He whispered to himself.
Jack suddenly heard a sound at the top of the stairway. He looked up and saw a small snow man standing above him. Jamie came up to Jack as he looked up at the snowie. He cocked it's small head at Jamie and smiled as several other poped out from behind.
They then hopped off the edge of the balcony and landed in front of Jamie. They then waddled up to the boy. They leaped up over Jamie, coming over his head and shoulder. Jamie chuckled.
Jack smirked, squinting his eyes. He leaned to his side as he came up to Jamie.
"Snowmen?" He said.
One of the snowmen leaped from Jamie's shoulder. Jack leaned back, offering out his arm. The snowman came over Jack's arm before it leaped up over his head.
"Hey." Jack said.
Suddenly, they heard a voice.
"Jamie?"
Jack then turned. He looked up along the stair way. The voice sounded like it was a woman's. And it seemed to be coming from above.
"Jamie is that you?"
Jamie looked up at the balcony.
"Elsa!" He said.
Jamie then turned and ran over to the stairway off to the right. Jack watched as he climbed up the steps and disappeared passed the balcony. He then heard Jamie talking to whoever it was over the balcony. Jack backed away as he looked up at the balcony. He then leaped up and flew up to the balcony.
Jack came up over the ice railing.
"Jamie who are you..."
Jack then looked up. And then he froze. He saw Jamie standing in front of a woman no older then him. She had icy bond hair made in a french braid which laid over her left shoulder. Her lips were as red as roses and her eyes were a Crystal blue. She was also wearing an icy blue dress with a long see through cape.
Suddenly Jack started to feel strange. He could feel his heart beating rabidly in his chest and his body suddenly quivered. She looked up from Jamie and turned to him. The woman then gasped. She stood up as she looked back at him, speechless and in awe.
Elsa stared back at the man who stood over the balcony of her palace steps. He looked to be the same age as her. He had hair as white as snow and light blue eyes. He was wearing a strange blue cloak she had seen people wear in this town. He was also holding a long wooden staff with a curved hook.
Elsa suddenly felt strange. More so then she had ever felt before. She could feel her heart beating in her chest and her palm felt sweaty. She also tried to speak up but she could hardly say a word. The words felt as if they were trapped.
"Uh...Jamie... who is...?" he said.
Elsa suddenly was snapped back to reality.
"Wait, you can...you can see me?" she asked.
Jack squinted his eyes, curiously.
"Uh, yeah." Jack said, nodding head.
"Why wouldn't I?"
Elsa narrowed her head. She couldn't believe it. More people were starting to see her. After all this time.
"Jack, this is my friend, Elsa." Jamie said.
Jack turned to Elsa.
"So your Elsa?" He said,
Elsa turned away, trying to hide her blush.
"Uh... yes." she said, brushing aside the stand of hair behind her ear.
Jack glanced around at her palace.
"Quite the place you have here." Jack said.
"Th-thank you." Elsa said.
"People don't normally say things like that about my powers."
Jack then frowned. He glanced back to Elsa, squinting his eyes curiously.
"Your... powers?" he asked, curiously.
Jamie then gasped. He turned to Elsa as he took her hand and shook it.
"Oh, you gotta show him!" Jamie said.
Elsa then looked back up at Jack. She seemed quite nervous about the idea of showing off her powers to someone she had only met. It took her sometime before she had gotten used to using them around Jamie.
She glanced back down at Jamie. He nodded her head, insisting that she do it.
Elsa took a deep breath. She looked back at Jack and held out her hand. Several snow flake appeared from the palm of her hand. She then repeated it again and more snowflakes appeared. Jack widened his eyes, his mouth hanging open at the sight of her powers.
Elsa turned to him and saw him staring wide eyes and in awe. The same looks she had remembered all too well. She frowned, knowing this would happen.
"Did you just..." he asked.
Jack narrowed his head. He glanced back down at the palace door. All that snow that was covering Burgess, that was all her?
"All that snow outside... that was you?"
Jack suddenly widened his eyes, realizing what this was. Who she was. He looked back at Elsa.
"Your a winter spirit!" he said.
Jack chuckled, running his hand through his hair. He couldn't believe it. There was another spirit of Winter. All this time, he wasn't the only one. It was true that he had never thought about it until now, but now knowing there was someone else like him...
"I can't believe it." he said.
"I'm not the only one!"
Elsa glanced curiously at Jack. He wasn't making any sense. What did he mean that he wasn't the only one?
She looked down at Jamie, who only continued to smiled up at her. She then glanced back at Jack.
"What are you talk about?" she asked.
Jack twirl his hand as a small snowflake appeared, swirling around his hand. Elsa widened her eyes. Jack turned to her and saw her staring in awe at the snowflake her had. Jack then twirled hid staff before tapping the icy wall, causing frost to spread over it. The frost then took shape into a small butterfly.
Jack the turned and held out his hand, causing it to emerge from the wall and fly into the air. Elsa and Jamie gazed up at the butterfly, as it flew into the air. The butterfly suddenly disbursed above them and little snowflakes suddenly fell from above as if it was snowing.
Elsa glanced down as she held out her hands, seeing the snow fall around her and Jamie.
"Did you...?" She asked, turning to Jack.
Jack smirked and nodded his head.
"But... but how...?" she asked.
"Cause I'm Jack Frost." He said.
