Chapter 11, Let me show you how
It was atop the balcony of her ice palace that Elsa stood, cupping her hands over top the railing. Bowing her head, she pondered to herself of the loneliness she had felt all these years. Wandering the world, unnoticed and unseen by everybody. Becoming but an urban legend that few had ever told from where she had come. For so long she had convinced herself that she was better off. So that she would never have to go through it ever again. So that she would never have to see anyone else have to...
Yet still she yearned to have the family she had once long ago. The one she was chose to part from to look after the enchanted forest after becoming a spirit. But with Jamie always coming to visit her, the first one to have ever believed in her and was able to see her.
And now with Jack frost.
Someone who had the same powers as her, who could control them in a way that she had once before. Maybe they were what she needed to be given a the love of the family she had once known. Was this the purpose of which the Man in the Moon had proclaimed to her? Are they whom she needed?
No.
She couldn't. She could never bear it.
Not again.
She raised her sullenly glance, staring out toward the town passed the woods. The world of which she chose to remain secluded from for all time. She knew that she could never return to it. They would never accept someone like her. Not even now she was losing control of her powers. She couldn't bear too hurt anyone.
Especially Jamie.
Bruni scurried across the railing as she came up to her. The small lizard nuzzled his head up against her hands, in an attempt to comfort her. Elsa glanced down to him, giving a small smile to the fire spirit as he tried to comfort her.
"Look who's up."
Elsa gasped. She glanced to her right, where she saw Jack was standing over the railing next to her as he leaned against the wall.
"Jack." she said.
"What... are you doing here?"
Jack leaped off the railing and landed over the balcony.
"I just came to see if you were alright." Jack insisted to her.
Elsa frowned.
"I'm... I'm fine." she insisted, turning away.
Jack came up next to her. He then glanced to Elsa and was met with her sullenly gaze. Her narrowed eyes filled with pain and loneliness, peering down at her own hands that she cupped them tightly against her chest. Jack frowned. He knew that something was wrong and he knew well of what it was. For he too had gone through the same thing as well long ago.
To have been alone for over three hundred years, wandering the world with no memory of who he was nor why she was there. He knew she must be going through the same thing.
"Elsa."' He said, reaching his hand out to her.
Elsa suddenly moved away from his touch.
"No!" she exclaimed to him.
"Please..."
"What, what...?" Jack asked, curiously.
"Please, Jack, you can't," she claimed to him.
"Elsa, please," Jack reassured her.
"I just want to help you."
Elsa glanced back to him, frowning.
"I know what you might be going through," Jack insisted to her.
"I want to help you."
Elsa turned to him.
"You... do?" she asked, curiously.
Jack nodded his head to her.
"Yes," He insisted to her.
"I know your having trouble controlling your powers. I can help you do it."
Elsa narrowed her eyes, glancing down at her hands. She was still quite hesitant to do so, fearing what may happen. She felt so torn of what to do. There was a part of her that feared that if they gotten close, she would end up being hurt again. Yet even still, there was a part of her that do it. To let him get close and let him help her. If there was a chance that he could help her control her powers better, she had to take it.
Especially with everything that has happened.
She glanced down at Bruni, who looked back at her, smiling. He nodded his head in encouragement.
"Please, Elsa." He said, offering his hand to her.
Elsa glanced down at his hand and then up at him. Jack nodded his head to her, encouraging her to take it. Slowly she reached out her and hesitantly took hold of his. It was from his his very touch of his icy cold hand, Elsa suddenly felt her heart flutter. She gasped in awe as she shuddered. She glanced up at the winter spirit, who looked back at her, smiling.
"You are one brave woman." Jack claimed to her.
Elsa glanced away, her face turning a bright red.
"Come on," he said, pulling her along into her ice palace.
"There's something I want to show you."
Bruni leaped off the ice railing and scurried after them.
Jack and Elsa came down the stairway to the hall below, where many of the snowies were playing. The small snow men peered up to the balcony above, where they saw the two spirits of winter come over the balcony above. Many of which smiled and scurried up the steps up to the balcony. They came up to Jack and Elsa, hopping up and down to them. The two glanced down at the small snow men, smiling.
One of which hopped up and landed atop Jack's head.
"Hey." he said, glancing up at them.
Elsa in turned covered her mouth, chuckled at him.
Jack glanced back at Elsa and at a moments pause, he found himself staring at her. Seeing the way she smiled with those rose red lips, covering them up with her hand as she laughed. Jack couldn't help but be mesmerized. Jack had seen the laughter and smiles of the children he had brought so much joy to in the past. But yet this one was much different then all of those. He wanted to see her smile all the time.
Elsa glanced back up at Jack and noticed that he was staring at her.
"What?" she asked, curiously.
It was then that Jack realized what he was doing and quickly snapped out of it.
"Oh... uh." he said, glancing below the balcony.
Jack came over to the railing, where he peered down to the wide round floor of solid ice below. This seemed like a good place that he can show her how to control her powers. He then grinned before glancing back at Elsa.
"Watch and learn, snowflake." he claimed to her.
He then turned and leaped up over the railing to the icy floor before. Elsa came up to the edge of the Balcony, where she saw Jack floating down to the floor. Just as he was about to land, Jack thrusted his staff down as a bolt of magic shot down and created a large slop. Jack slid down the snow slop and came over the icy floor of the castle. He then swiped his staff, creating another slop of snow over several of the small snow men.
The snowies then popped out of the snow, glancing to one another, smiling. Jack chuckled, swiping his staff around as he filled the room with hills of snow and with snow balls. All the while, Elsa gazed down at the winter spirit, watching in awe as he use his powers so freely and without a care. The same way she had long ago before...
Elsa shook her head, ridding the very thought from her mind. Jack turned and glanced back up at Elsa.
"Come on, snowflake." he called up to her.
"Show me what you got."
Elsa narrowed her eyes, hesitantly. It was then that Bruni leaped up onto the ice railing, looking up at her as he gave a small clicking sound to her. He then leaped down off the balcony and landed in the snow below, purring as he laid in the soft cold snow.
Elsa then turned forward, taking a deep breath as she leaped over the railing. She held out her hands, as a stream of her icy magic created a slide of ice slide. She came down the icy slope and came down over the floor below. Jack smirked at her.
"Hey, not bad," Jack said, leaning against his staff.
"What else you got?"
Elsa glanced to the side as she thought. It had been some time since she had ever used her powers so freely as he did. Even in front of Jamie, the ice queen restrained from using her powers so much. The only time she had ever used them was to create this very castle and the snowmen that were her only company. And also to give Bruni those small snow flakes he liked and when to cool him off. With how much the world had changed in her time looking after the forest, she feared that people wouldn't accept her. Nor would it ever be the same without... them.
She glanced down at her hands, still very much unsure what to to do. She shook her head to him.
"I-I'm not really sure," she insisted to him.
"I haven't really used my powers like this since I left the forest."
Jack squinted his eyes, curiously. With all that she had created with them. This palace made of ice. The small snowmen around them. And even the storm last night and the snow which covered Burgess.
"What do you mean?" Jack asked, curiously.
Elsa cupped both her hands as she glanced up at Jack.
"Ever since we left the forest, I've never used my powers the same way as I used to," she insisted to him.
"With how much the world has change since..."
Elsa paused, hesitant to say anymore.
"Since what?" Jack asked, curiously.
"Nothing." she insisted, glancing to the side.
Jack came up to Elsa, where he reached out his hand to her.
"Then let me show you how." Jack proclaimed to her.
Elsa glanced up at Jack with her crystal blue eyes. She slowly reached out to him. Though was hesitant, she then took hold of his hand.
