Light woke up. He sighed; the security cameras were driving Ryuk mad.

He had to wonder, how had Sayu found out about them…?

So… smart people, am I right? I definitely would NOT have considered myself one of them.

I had a meeting with a woman named Shoko Maki. A very smart, dangerous woman, who thought I was a serial killer. Welp, she was completely off, since I was the opposite - a serial reviver. I stood in front of To Oh, the prestigious university my brother went to… and a uni I'd likely never see the inside of. I sighed, slumping into the park bench.

"What's she gonna do to me…?" I asked Guardian.

"We will wait and see," Guardian mused. "This woman could be a great ally."

"Or a great enemy," I muttered.

While waiting for Miss Maki to show up, I was texting Mei, who had some suspicions. Mei had become a shoulder to lean on through all of this Anti-Kira business; I wasn't sure where I would've been without her.

She's onto you? she texted.

Yep… I replied. I wish they'd leave Light out of this. For the 100000th time, he's not Kira!

Mei simply texted me some dots.

What is it? I texted.

Come and see me tomorrow, she texted. Right outside of school.

"Miss Yagami?"

There she was. Shoko Maki was standing in front of me, looking down. Her dark eyes pierced my own. I stood up.

"Hi," my voice cracked.

"Let's cut to the chase," Shoko Maki sat next to me.

"Sure," I squeaked. I was trying not to break into yet another panic attack.

"From the way you were speaking during our first encounter, if you're not the Anti Kira themself, then you at least know them," Maki told me.

"Do I?" I asked, dumbly.

"And from the way you're acting now…" Maki furrowed her brow. "It's not something you want to be involved with."

Wow, she read me like a book. I hid my face.

"... if I was the Anti Kira…" I looked down, "what would you do?"

"I would recruit you to join the task force," Maki told me.

"Would you?" I asked, a little too hopefully. "You wouldn't, like… try to have me arrested?"

Maki narrowed her eyes. "Well… we'd want to know how you're bringing people back from the dead."

I looked at my shoes. Guardian drew close, placing a hand on my shoulder.

"The Anti-Kira saved my fiancee," Maki smiled. "It's the least I could do."

I swallowed, looking away. "I… I don't know…"

"We don't have much time," Maki reminded me. "Kira will take any chance to strike."

She handed me a business card - a professional looking one for an FBI agent. Naomi Misora was written in the top left.

"Who's Naomi?" I asked.

"If we're going to trust each other, then you need to know my actual name," Maki told me.

"You lied about your name?" I asked.

Maki nodded. "I recommend using a pseudonym too… if only to protect yourself from Kira."

I clenched my fists. "Got it."

Maki - no, Naomi - was terrifying, but even more terrifying was her wisdom. At least she was on my side… because in the end, it was all of us vs Kira.

I raced into the school, my bag nearly flying off my shoulder. Guardian flew above me.

I wrapped Mei into a tight hug, putting my head on her shoulder. One of her hugs was all I needed to keep me going. She really was the best friend I could've asked for. I was smelling her hair; she smelled like a field of flowers.

Wait, why the hell am I smelling her?!

I backed up, covering my burning cheeks.

"So, what's happening?" I asked.

Mei sat down, backing against the wall. I sat next to her. We didn't say anything for a while, simply just sitting in silence.

"Sayu…" she finally said.

I stared into her eyes, biting my lip.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"What if your brother is Kira?" she asked.

My blood turned to ice.

"No way," I laughed it off.

"I mean, think about it," Mei waved her hands. "He's super smart, he's cunning, he has police info-"

"Shut up," I snapped. I covered my mouth, my hands shaking. I could feel Guardian's presence, but I ignored them, my body trembling further.

"Huh?" Mei asked. "Sorry, Sayu, I-"

"Just-" I covered my ears. "Enough, okay?!"

I ran away, tears burning my eyes.

"What if she is right?" Guardian asked.

"SHUT UP!" I shouted.

I headed into the bathroom, crying once more. I hunched over the toilet, ignoring Guardian, ignoring the school bell, ignoring everything.

Sorry, Light… I whimpered. I haven't got all these people off your case yet…

I sighed. As usual, I needed a break from everything and everyone.

I left the house, Guardian flying over my shoulder. There were still cameras inside the house, so I was trying to avoid home as much as I physically could.

"How are you feeling?" they asked.

"Bad," I sighed. "Since when do you care about my feelings?"

"I have always cared," they said.

"No you haven't, you fuck!" I snapped. "If you did, you would've NEVER forced me into this!"

Guardian didn't respond to that. I sighed, slumping on a park bench. Cherry blossoms were all around, petals falling nearby. I looked at my face in a puddle below; bags were under my eyes. My skin was pale. I bowed my head, closing my eyes. I wished I could sleep forever, never waking up.

A weird guy sat next to me. He had messy black hair, a simple white t-shirt, and dark eyes. Judging by the eye bags, the guy was a hardcore insomniac. (Just like me nowadays.)

"Sayu Yagami," he greeted.

"Um… yeah," I coughed, my throat hurting. "That's me. Who are you?"

"I am L," he replied.

I stared at him.

"Sorry, I must've heard you wrong," I said. "Did you say… you're L?"

"Yes," he replied.

"As in… the L?" I asked. "The super genius detective-gonna-stop-Kira-L?"

"Yes," he repeated.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yes," he said.

"No way," I shook my head. "L wouldn't just show up and introduce himself to me! That's crazy talk!"

"You clearly don't know L, then," he replied, "because I'm right here."

"Dude, come on," I rolled my eyes. "Stop lying to me."

The guy who was supposedly L kept staring at me.

"Stop it," I repeated.

He kept staring.

"If you really ARE L - which you're obviously not - then why are you revealing yourself to me?" I asked.

"You're a lot more blunt than your brother," 'L' told me.

"You know my brother?" I asked.

"Of course," he said. "We go to the same university… and I work with your father."

I gasped. "Lightie has a friend?"

"A friend?" 'L' shrugged. "I suppose so."

"Wow," I gushed. "I mean - Lightie mainly hangs out by himself nowadays… it's great to see he's got a friend!"

I paused.

"So… what do you want from me, exactly?" I asked. "Just saying hi?"

L took a sip from his water bottle.

"I know you are the Anti Kira," he said.

I nearly screamed. "No, I'm-"

"And I believe that your brother," L said, "is Kira."
