Hello everyone. Obviously there has been some big news since the last time I updated. There will be a sequel to Digimon Adventure in 2015! I seriously can't wait! I honestly never thought they would do another series with the original cast so it was a massive surprise on Aug 1st. The silhouettes of the original eight DigiDestined look great and I can't wait until more information about the series is released :)

Apologies for the lengthy wait for this chapter. I think I've gotten in the habit now of if I'm not happy with how a chapter is going I will keep re-working it until I am, which means some flow of chapters could change two or three times. It's weird because I have had the rest of the story planned out for ages but I'm always changing bits here and there XD

Anyway, thanks to everyone who has reviewed!

Best OC Maker: that's a good idea but I haven't got any plans to bring anymore new DigiDestined in sorry.
Greymon Leader Batx flashpoint: yeah, he definitely knows how to make them suffer.
Sweet Cari: Yeah, you can see she's improving with her leader qualities ^^
DigitalGirl490: Aw thank you :)
Sync The Dragon Tempest: Thanks. It was sort of a last minute idea I had to make Centarumon an X Digimon to add a bit of drama XD
IzzyFan123: Thanks ^^
Aldamonburst: XD yeah the DigiDestined will definitely be out for revenge now.
No.1DigiBakuFan: Yeah I'm sure he is :)
dark lord darksider (guest): Hi, thanks for your ideas. They sound cool but unfortunately I already have everything planned for the rest of 2.5 so I wouldn't be able to fit it in.
GameFreak2000: I haven't got any plans to use the royal knights atm sorry
Zach2341: Great idea but I haven't got any plans for a second villain in 2.5 though.
DumbGuy536362: Sorry I haven't got plans to use bio merge or have Dawn receive a second partner.
Say Kirby 99x: I've always been a fan of the dubs so I'll look forward to any of them. And I recently bought the all star rumble game. Not many people have given it good reviews but I certainly like it :)
MasterGeneral360: Aw thank you. I'm glad to hear I'm inspiring people to write more Digimon stories ^^
ZxturtlexZ: Aw thank you :) I know updates have been a little long between each one but I'll keep on going!

Digimon 2.5 "Adventure 03"

Episode 43: "Myotismon Strikes Back"

.:Thunder Mountain, File Island, Digital World:.

The sun had now set, disappearing behind the mountain. Although the sky still had a bit of light to it, it was dark enough for him to build up his strength.

Myotismon made his way down the long dark corridor. He was calm, with a glimmer of a small smile at the corner of his mouth. It was now time. With his carefully selected army he was about to make his journey to the island where he would finally regain his true identity.

Upon reaching the back doors to his base, he raised both arms and slowly moved his hands outwards either side; commanding the doors to open. They creaked open allowing him to step outside into the back courtyard where Wisemon was waiting for him.

Wisemon bowed as Myotismon approached him. "The Digimon you requested are ready, my lord."

Myotismon looked past him and to the three Digimon lined up in the middle of the yard. Despite being only three of them, they were three of his strongest X Digimon. He had selected the best and after the success of his newly modified X Antibody on Centarumon, he had used it on these three to bring them all to the mega level; knowing the Digimon guarding his soul would not be beaten so easily.

His smile grew a little as he observed the three Digimon before him; most of their features shadowed in the dark. "Perfect."

.:Wastelands, File Island, Digital World:.

"I'm sorry if I worried you Dad," Stacey began, her head bowed a little shamefully. "I know it was pretty dumb of me to think I could have rescued Centarumon on my own... but after what happened to Gennai I thought if I could have at least tried-"

Matt knelt down to his daughter's height and placed a hand on her shoulder, interrupting her. "There's no need to explain. I understand." He said softly. "I'm just glad you're okay."

"How did you know where I was?"

"Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon told me."

Stacey smiled somewhat. "Remind me to thank those two when I get home." She said with a hint of sarcasm.

Tai watched on as the father and daughter embraced until he noticed his own daughter wasn't beside him. He turned around and spotted her. She had stepped away from the group, stood on a higher part of the rocks looking out across to the distance where the top of Thunder Mountain could be seen through the mist. He sighed before he began to approach her. "You can't beat yourself up over this kiddo." He said once he had reached her.

Dawn broke away from her thoughts and briefly glanced over her shoulder. "I'm not." She replied sharply. "It just makes me so angry every time I think what he did." She muttered turning her attention back on the mountain in the distance.

"I know." Tai said as he stood beside her. "But you can't go in there full of anger either. You did what you had to do. There was no other choice. That's one of the qualities of being a good leader. In situations like that you have to think fast and do the right thing. Myotismon is a cunning Digimon, and he won't hesitate one bit if we ever make the slightest mistake."

Dawn sighed and pulled her goggles down back around her neck. "He seems to be always one step ahead of us Dad. It's like he knew we were coming to rescue Centarumon, and that's why he sent him to attack us."

"He probably thought sending Centarumon to attack you; you two wouldn't have it in you to defeat him, and you would lose in the end. He was testing you."

Dawn looked down at the ground. "Almost like the other night when he targeted you and WarGreymon to lure me out, huh?"

"Yeah," Tai replied with a nod. "Once he finds each of our weaknesses he's going to use that against us in any way he can. We just need to find out what his own weakness is."

Dawn looked up at her father. "Dad, he has the power from four of the Spirit Stones. He's the strongest he's ever been."

"Everyone has a weakness Dawn, no matter how much power they might have."

Dawn sighed, looking back ahead to Thunder Mountain in the distance. "What weakness could Myotismon possibly have?" she thought.

Unaware to the DigiDestined, someone had been watching them from the top of one of the rock towers….

.:Great Canyon, File Island, Digital World:.

Labramon was still waiting patiently at the edge of the canyon. He was sat directly in front of the bridge; his eyes fixed on the opposite side which could just be seen through the mist that had recently set in.

He sighed, his ears drooping a little. It had been a long time since the DigiDestined had crossed into the wastelands….

Just then, something caught his eye up in the sky through the mist. Something was moving. As it grew closer, it was the unmistakable silhouette of Myotismon appearing through the mist.

Labramon gasped in fear and spun round before scrambling back to take cover in some brush at the edge of the Native Forest. He leapt into the bushes before poking his head out a little.

As Myotismon flew closer, three more silhouettes appeared behind him

Labramon instinctively ducked down a little, keeping his body close to the ground. He couldn't make out who the other three Digimon were due to the fog but he could see they were big Digimon, and they all had piercing red eyes.

The four Digimon flew by overhead making their way across high above the tops of the forest.

Labramon slowly edged out from amongst the bushes. He looked up to see they were slowly disappearing from sight as they flew away. Once they had vanished completely in the fog, the little rookie Digimon turned and bolted for the bridge making his way across the canyon and into the wastelands….

.:File Island, Digital World:.

"My lord, I have done some research on the island and I'm afraid Azulongmon has not made it easy for you." Wisemon said.

Myotismon, whilst flying through the clouds, glanced to the small bat screen that was flying along side him which was displaying Wisemon who was back at the base. "I'd be a fool if I were to think this was going to be easy, Wisemon." He half snapped.

"My apologies my lord." Wisemon quickly assured, bowing his head. "But it seems that your soul is not only heavily guarded by Azulongmon's army, it is also sealed away inside a chest."

"A chest?"

Wisemon nodded. "Yes. A chest that is made from the strongest chrome Digizoid that cannot be penetrated by any attack. There is a key somewhere on the island, but I'm afraid I was unable to find out where that key is hidden."

Myotismon growled a little under his breath. "Do not fear Wisemon. I will not return until I find that key and chest. Not matter how long it takes."

Wisemon bowed. "I will be awaiting your return, my lord." He said before the screen went blank.

Myotismon looked ahead, just as he and his three X Digimon flew out from amongst the clouds. The sky was now clear as he flew out over Coela Beach and out across onto the Net Ocean with nothing but miles upon miles of water in front of him….

.:Wastelands, File Island, Digital World:.

The mood was sombre as the DigiDestined made their way back home, heading back for the Great Canyon.

Stacey was walking along in between her father and her two partners. She glanced up and looked ahead to Dawn who was walking slightly ahead from the group with her Agumon.

Agumon had his head down as he trundled along, almost dragging his feet against the ground.

Dawn, who had now calmed down somewhat from earlier, glanced down at her partner, noticing how deflated he looked. "You okay?" she asked but she didn't receive an answer. "C'mon Agumon, I still feel bad too. But we know there was nothing we could have done."

"I know that. But you weren't the one who had to deal the blow… it was the hardest thing I've ever done..."

Stacey looked away from Dawn and Agumon and up to her father. "Centarumon will be reborn again in Primary Village, won't he?"

Matt hesitated for a moment, glancing down at his Digimon partner who glanced back at him. "…. I'm not sure," he finally said. "Because Centarumon was an X Digimon I have no idea what will happen to his data once, or if it gets reconfigured."

"That's a question you'll have to ask Izzy or Elecmon." Gabumon added.

Stacey sighed and lowered her head to stare at the ground as she walked along. She somewhat already knew the answer to the question. She had just hoped by some small chance she had been wrong and her father would have given her some sort of reassurance.

The group soon approached a tall rock tower that was oddly shaped; a sign that they were close to the canyon. Upon reaching it, Dawn and Agumon, still at the front of the group, turned right.

Completely oblivious and in deep thought; the two friends failed to notice something coming towards them through the fog until it was too late and it crashed into Agumon.

"Whoa!" Agumon tumbled backwards landing in a heap on the ground with whoever had collided with him landing on top of him.

"Hey!" Dawn exclaimed, jumping back in surprise.

The others looked ahead after hearing the commotion. "Labramon!" Stacey exclaimed upon realising who it was. She ran over and helped the dog Digimon off of Agumon.

"You know this Digimon?" Matt asked.

Stacey nodded. "He's the one that told us about Centarumon's kidnapping."

"DigiDestined!" Labramon exclaimed his face lighting up. "Where is Centarumon? Is he alright?" he asked, looking around.

Agumon got to his feet, hesitating a little. "I… I'm sorry little guy, but we were too late."

Labramon's face fell and he lowered his head.

"What are you doing out here anyway?" Matt's Gabumon asked. "This area isn't at all safe for Digimon like you."

Labramon turned to face him. "I came to warn you. Myotismon is on the move. He passed by the Canyon not too long ago."

The group gasped. "What? Where was he heading?" Tai asked.

"I don't know. He wasn't alone either. He had three Digimon with him. I couldn't make out who they were, but they looked very strong."

"Does that guy ever take a break?" SnowAgumon commented with a groan.

Dawn clenched her fists. If Myotismon was on the move with three X Digimon, that could only mean one thing; trouble. "We have to go after him." she said boldly, catching everyone's attention. "It sounds like Myotismon is up to something."

Everyone looked at one another before Stacey looked across to the Kamiya girl. "But we have no idea where he's going, and in this fog it will make it almost impossible to keep up with him."

Dawn unclipped her digivice, holding it up. "We'll latch onto his signal using our digivices. We're the DigiDestined remember. We have to at least try and stop him. More innocent Digimon could be at risk of getting hurt. We've already lost Centarumon; we can't lose anymore of our friends."

Tai's Agumon glanced at both of the girls before looking up to his human partner. "What do you think Tai?"

Tai thought for a moment. "… Dawn's right." He said, earning a surprised look from Matt. "If he's planning on hurting more Digimon then we can't just sit back and let that happen."

"Tai, you and Agumon aren't exactly in the best shape to be going and fighting Myotismon again." Matt said, motioning to their injures.

"We'll be fine."

"Yeah! Besides, I'm up for a little payback!" Agumon added confidently.

.:Net Ocean, Digital World:.

Many, many miles away was an island. An island Azulongmon had chosen.

It was isolated in a sector of the ocean where very few Digimon had travelled to. It was miles away from the three main lands of the Digital World and was only surrounded by clusters of tiny islands that were scattered randomly, and that were only home to a few trees and plant life.

The Digimon Sovereign had not only chosen the island because of its location, but also because of the land itself. It was a large island that was completely covered in ancient ruins, all different shapes and sizes. It was like a maze and a land that time had forgotten.

All the ruins were made from stone. Some remained standing whilst others had half collapsed over time, surrounded by their own debris. Plants and trees had sprouted almost everywhere, with some large trees even on top of the ruins themselves.

All across the island were the Digimon Azulongmon had chosen to guard it. At each and every entrance to the ruins were at least two of three HiAndromons whilst small groups of AncientTroiamon patrolled the pathways. Up on top of some of the ruins were Raidenmon who kept watch on the sky, their cannons aimed upwards.

The sunset had gone and it was now nightfall with the only light coming from the full moon that illuminated parts of the island. But the clear sky soon began to disappear as a light fog began to set in.

Once the mist had thickened enough, a small bat flew by unaware to the guards. It fluttered down through the fog towards one of the ruins that resembled a somewhat run down temple of Zeus that stood at the top of a set of large stone steps.

It flew behind one of the large pillars before it began to transform and quickly regained the shape of Myotismon. He stepped back behind the pillar, hidden in the darkness before he slowly peered out and observed the surroundings.

A group of AncientTroiamon were trotting by below passing two HiAndromon who were stood in front of the dark entrance to one of the buildings. Myotismon turned his attention to the nearby tops of some of the ruins where the Raidenmon were situated. He then looked around at the other ruins where there were more HiAndromons at every entrance.

The vampire Digimon chuckled to himself. "Very clever Azulongmon. Having the Digimon guard each and every entrance and cave so it makes it more difficult for me to pinpoint the exact location of my soul…" he backed up into the darkness as an AncientTroiamon turned in his direction. "Not a problem… I'll just have to destroy your entire army and search the island until I find it."

With a swish of his cape he turned his back on the guards and stepped further into the temple so he was completely out of sight. He wrapped his cape around his body before throwing it open and unleashing a swarm of bats. "Grizzly Wing!"

The bats fluttered upwards and broke through the roof of the temple before scattering everywhere in the sky.

The sound of the explosion, and the bats squeaking alerted the guards. The group of AncientTroiamon nearby all stopped and turned to look up at the temple. "What was that?!" the leader demanded before he saw the bats fill the sky. "Quick, this way!"

The Raidenmons on the roof all spun round and aimed their cannons at the bats before firing, lighting up the sky.

Myotismon chuckled to himself as he wrapped his cape around his body once more; transforming himself back into a bat just in time before the AncientTroiamons arrived at the top of the steps. He flew up and attached himself to the darkest corner before the horse Digimon entered the temple.

The leader of the AncientTroiamon stepped forward. "Who's there?" he demanded. "Show yourself!" He growled after receiving no answer and began to make his way deeper inside the temple.

Suddenly, the whole temple shook followed by the sounds of explosions.

Outside one of the buildings exploded sending the Raidenmon on top crashing down to the ground, quickly followed by two more explosions in different areas.

"We're under attack!" one of the HiAndromon could be heard shouting.

The leader of the AncientTroiamon looked up and caught the sight of three dark shadows moving through the fog.

The three shadows flew down, splitting from their formation and landing on three individual buildings, revealing themselves.

The first one was a large evil dragon Digimon; Megidramon X. He landed on top of a tall half standing stone tower that was leant a little to one side. He growled as he grasped the top of the tower with his hands and wrapped his long red tail around the lower part.

The second was a cyborg Digimon; Aegisdramon X. He was clad in dull gold armour that had lost its shine and his body was almost covered in cannons of different sizes. He landed on top of a smaller temple that rested upon a pyramid that was half covered in greenery.

The third was Beelzemon X; a demon lord Digimon. He landed on top of one of the last remaining stone pillars from a temple that no longer stood.

Inside the temple, Myotismon flew down and transformed back from his bat form and swung his body round so he landed on his feet just behind the small army of horse Digimon.

The AncientTroiamon heard the sound of his feet hitting the stone floor and all turned around, and the leader gasped. "Myotismon!"

Myotismon chuckled, smirking at them as he wrapped his cape around his body before throwing it open. "Nightmare Claw!" he unleashed a black ghost like energy force that struck the AncientTroiamon before they had chance to defend themselves.

The force sent them falling backwards and tumbling down the steps. Their bodies turned black just before they hit the ground below; paralyzed.

Myotismon flew out from inside the temple and levitated in the air. "Be sure no one is left standing." He addressed his X Digimon. "I want each and every Digimon taken care of."

Beelzemon X chuckled before he, Megidramon X and Aegisdramon X all ascended up into the air.

Aegisdramon X leapt up soaring high into the air before spinning his body around and descended down into the line of the Raidenmon's fire.

The Raidenmon all fired simultaneously from the two cannons on their backs.

Aegisdramon X dodged each bomb, but one managed to clip his left wing. He growled in anger before unleashing his own attack. "Shine Breaker!" he fired a countless stream of shining energy bullets as he moved across the tops of the ruins destroying the Raidenmon as he went.

Megidramon X swooped down flying inches above the ground as he charged head on towards an oncoming group of AncientTroiamon.

The five AncientTroiamon let out a thunderous neigh as they galloped closer to the dragon Digimon. "Surprise Cannon!" They lifted their heads up and fired large energy bullets from the huge cannons in their mouths and chest.

"Hell Howling!" Megidramon X opened his mouth and unleased a powerful shockwave. It cancelled out the Surprise Cannon attacks and slammed into the five AncientTroiamon knocking them over like skittles, and also knocking them out cold.

Beelzemon X landed in front of a section of the ruins that resembled part of the coliseum that was fused into the side of one of the small rocky mountains. Once he landed on the ground he turned around to see a large group of HiAndromon emerge from the darkness in between the archways of the coliseum. The demon Digimon smirked as the guards approached him. "Bring it on." He taunted, raising his gun.

The HiAndromons charged all at once. "Atomic Ray!"

"Double Impact!" Beelzemon X rapidly fired his two shotguns aiming precisely at each energy beam and successfully blocking all of them. He then spun round and punched one of the HiAndromon that attempted to lunge for him.

One by one they attempted to attack him, but Beelzemon X was too fast. He turned and ploughed his fist through the chest of one of the HiAndromon. "Darkness Claw!" Withdrawing his fist he turned and just managed to block an attack from another using his gun before he swiftly kicked him away. "Is that all you've got?" he mocked.

Another HiAndromon charged, inches away from striking the X Digimon. But Beelzemon X quickly thrust his shotgun into HiAndromon's abdomen and fired at point blank range obliterating him instantly.

Myotismon chuckled to himself as he watched his three X Digimon destroy more and more of Azulongmon's army. He glanced down to the immobile AncientTroiamon he had attacked earlier before forming his attack in his right hand. "Crimson Lightning!" he swung it down straight through the horse Digimon. The attack sliced through their bodies, obliterating them into pieces of wood before their data fizzled away...

.:Infinity Mountain, File Island, Digital World:.

Meanwhile back on File Island, Leomon looked out across the land from the top of Infinity Mountain, specifically at the Native Forest.

The effects from Myotismon stealing the powers from the Spirit Stones were starting to take hold. The trees were losing their leaves, which had turned brown, as they slowly began to die. The plants were beginning to wither and the grass was becoming brown and prickly.

Leomon sighed as he turned to look at the Freeze land. The snow had begun to melt causing floods in some places and for the first time in years grass could be seen poking out from underneath the slush.

Just then the sound of a small stone being kicked alerted the lion Digimon that he was no longer alone on the mountain top. As quick as a flash he spun round withdrawing his small sword from behind his back, only to relax and lower his weapon once he saw BlackWarGreymon. "You like sneaking up on Digimon don't you?" he commented, placing his sword back in its case behind his back.

"Centarumon has fallen to Myotismon." The mega Digimon said, getting straight to the point.

Leomon gasped. "What? How?"

"The DigiDestined. He turned Centarumon against them. They had no choice." BlackWarGreymon replied simply.

Leomon bowed his head, clenching his fist. "There is only one reason I can think of as to why Myotismon would target Centarumon... he, along with myself were the only Digimon to know of the true powers of the Spirit Stones."

"So, are we to assume Myotismon now knows this secret?" BlackWarGreymon asked.

"Centarumon would never give up information Gennai trusted him with." Leomon stated. "But we cannot take any chances. If Myotismon does know their true powers, the only thing he will not know is how to unlock that power. Even myself and Centarumon did not know that secret…. But he can still stumble upon it by accident, just like the DigiDestined have."

"So, what do you suggest we do?" BlackWarGreymon questioned.

Leomon turned to look back across the island. "I have an idea… but it all depends on how many Digimon agree with me…"

"Then count me in." BlackWarGreymon announced, causing Leomon to turn and look back at him in surprise. "I thought about what you had said, and I am ready to assist in protecting the Digital World."

.:Unknown Island, Net Ocean, Digital World:.

The last remaining AncientTroiamon fell to the ground before his body exploded into a shower of data.

Myotismon dropped down to the ground, standing inches from where the horse Digimon had fallen. He smiled to himself as he observed the now empty ruins. He glanced over his shoulder as Beelzemon X, Aegisdramon X and Megidramon X appeared behind him. "Good work." He commented. "I must admit Azulongmon's army weren't all what I expected. I thought they would have put up a much greater fight." He added humorously with a chuckle.

"It was a piece of cake, my lord." Megidramon X replied gruffly.

Myotismon turned around to face the three X Digimon. "Your job is not over yet," he began. "Now that Azulongmon's army is out of the way we can begin our search."

About a few hundred yards away up at the top of a small set of steps, the DigiDestined slowly peered out from behind a stone wall having arrived on the island moments ago. They looked down and saw Myotismon and his henchmen stood in the square clearing at the bottom of the large steps. They could hear Myotismon speaking, but they were too far away to hear exactly what he was saying.

"What's he up to?" Stacey muttered, glancing at her father. "Why has he come to his island?"

"I have no idea. I can't hear what they are talking about." Matt replied.

"We'll have to get closer." Tai said, glancing at his blonde haired friend. "You two stay here." He added to the girls.

For once Dawn did not argue. She remained crouched down with Stacey and their Digimon as their fathers made their way down the steps making sure they were not seen.

Once at the bottom Tai, Matt, Agumon and Gabumon hid behind a half standing wall. They peered out through a gap in the stones to make sure Myotismon and his henchmen were still oblivious to their presence. From there they slowly made their way closer to the vampire Digimon by moving between walls and pillars.

Tai and Agumon went ahead a little getting as close as they could. They ran in between a row of archways before coming to a stop behind one of the walls. Tai pressed his back against the wall and listened carefully, Myotismon's voice now clearer.

"Leave no stone unturned or cave unexplored. It's here somewhere on this island and you will not rest until it is found." Myotismon instructed.

"Yes, my lord." The three Digimon replied bowing their heads.

"Until what is found? What are they looking for?" Agumon questioned in a hushed tone, only to be shushed by Tai.

"And do not go smashing the ruins to pieces. I want this search to be easy as possible and not have to shift through mounds of rubble. Understand?" Myotismon warned.

The Digimon nodded, and Beelzemon X turned to begin his search. But as he did he happened to look up and caught a glimpse of Dawn, Stacey and their Digimon peering over the wall. He immediately raised his gun and fired a shot which missed the girls but struck the wall behind them.

Dawn and Stacey both flinched and protected themselves as debris from the blast showered over them.

Myotismon spun round at the sound of the shot and glared at the mega Digimon. He quickly formed his Crimson Lightning attack and flung it at Beelzemon X, pinning him down against the ground. "You fool!" he spat, now in Beelzemon X's face. "What did I just tell you?!"

"I'm sorry my lord… but… but we're not alone."

"What?" Myotismon looked up to where Beelzemon X had fired. He saw Dawn and Stacey both duck down behind the wall. He smiled to himself before he released his attack from Beelzemon X. He stood up straight and flung it towards the girls, striking the wall they were hiding behind.

Dawn, Stacey and their Digimon screamed as the force from the attack and debris sent them flying back.

Matt suddenly appeared from behind one of the archways after hearing the screams and gasped when he saw Myotismon hovering above where his daughter was. "Stacey!"

Stacey pushed herself up, a little stunned from the attack, but froze when she saw a familiar shadow loom over her. She turned around to see the vampire Digimon looking down on them.

"Did you parents not teach you it's rude to spy on people?" Myotismon mocked.

Dawn, who was sat against the wall, glared up at him. "Did you think we were going to let you get away after what you did to Centarumon?!"

Myotismon chuckled as his three X Digimon appeared in the air behind him. "I must admit I was quite surprised you had it in you to destroy him. I thought you DigiDestined were supposed to protect the innocent Digimon, not destroy them."

Agumon jumped to his feet, just in front of his human partner raising his claws. "We had no choice after you turned him against us!"

The vampire Digimon continued to chuckle, making the Kamiya girl and her Digimon angrier. "And now, I'm going to enjoy destroying you two…." he said, preparing his attack once more. "Crimson Li-"

Out of nowhere MetalGarurumon tackled him before he had chance to launch his attack. The mega Digimon rammed him against one of the stone walls.

"Terra Force!" WarGreymon's huge fireball came flying out of nowhere and blasted through the three X Digimon, the force sending them all careering off in different directions.

MetalGarurumon jumped back off the vampire Digimon. "Metal Wolf Claw!" he unleashed a blast of cold air from his mouth.

Myotismon sat up. Still holding his Crimson Lightning attack he swung it down slicing through MetalGarurumon's attack, disabling it into tiny ice crystals that shattered on the ground. "I should have known you two wouldn't have come alone." He said getting to his feet.

WarGreymon flew up to join MetalGarurumon but he was immediately attacked by Beelzemon X who appeared from nowhere and punched the dragon Digimon in the face.

"No one attacks me by surprise and gets away with it!" the X Digimon spat. "Double Impact!" he thrust his shotgun forward and fired a double round from it.

WarGreymon grabbed the shield on his back and held it in front of him. The two shots ricocheted off it in different directions.

MetalGarurumon backed up a little in the air, protecting Stacey and Dawn as Aegisdramon X and Megidramon X closed in on him.

"Shine Breaker!" Aegisdramon X fired his cannons.

"Megid Flame!" Megidramon X unleashed a blast of fire from his mouth.

MetalGarurumon opened up all the weapons hidden on his body before firing a mass stream of missiles. The freezing missiles homed in on the approaching attacks. They froze Megidramon X's fire attack, which then burst into pieces of ice whilst they cancelled out Aegisdramon X's energy bullets by exploding upon impact.

But two stray bullets from Aegisdramon X managed to sail by and strike inches from the two girls. The blast blew up the stone structure splitting it in two, throwing Dawn and Agumon off to the left and Stacey, Gabumon and SnowAgumon to the right.

Stacey screamed as she and her Digimon fell down off of the ledge and landed on the ground amongst a pile of rubble.

Dawn and Agumon cried out as they hit the ground, summersaulting backwards and landing in a heap. The Kamiya girl groaned and pushed herself up but immediately flinched and covered her head with her hands as debris fell around her. Once it had ceased, she glanced up to see WarGreymon was still fighting Beelzemon X whilst MetalGarurumon was outnumbered by the other two.

Tai rushed over. "You okay, kiddo?"

Dawn got to her feet, brushing herself off. "I'm fine Dad."

Tai was about to reply when he caught a stray attack heading in their direction out of the corner of his eye. "Look out!" he quickly grabbed his daughter and protected her with his own body as the attack sailed by and struck an archway behind them, blowing it apart.

IceLeomon then appeared leaping out from behind a wall. "Frozen Fury!" he brought his arm back before unleashing a fist packed full of cold air. The attack struck Megidramon X just as he was about to lunge for MetalGarurumon.

Dawn looked across to see Stacey appear behind the back of one of the ruins out of danger from the battle field. The Ishida girl gave her a nod, letting her know she was okay. But as she looked up at the on-going fight once more, something didn't seem right…

"C'mon, we better help too!" Agumon exclaimed.

Dawn narrowed her eyes cautiously. "Wait a second…" she said, surveying the situation again. Their Digimon were fighting all three X Digimon. So where was Myotismon? She looked around until she spotted him across at the other end of the clearing.

Myotismon backed up slowly. He smiled a little as he witnessed Megidramon X swat IceLeomon away with his tail and Aegisdramon X blast MetalGarurumon to the ground. He chuckled before he stepped underneath an archway hiding himself in the darkness before he quietly slipped away as Dawn watched glaring at him….

Myotismon glanced over his shoulder as he heard a faint blast from the on-going fight. He chuckled to himself as he walked down a pathway with stone structures either side. To his left was a small square entrance to one of the ruins. He walked over and bent down so he could step inside.

He peered in and saw the tiny square room was empty. Frowning he stepped back out and stood up straight before carrying on down the pathway.

He searched each building he approached, most of them empty. One was another small square room but with a rectangular stone tomb against the back wall. After heaving the stone slab off he found it to be also empty.

"I should be able to feel it." He muttered to himself as he stepped back outside. "It is apart of me I should be drawn to its presence."

After searching yet another empty ruin he was beginning to lose his patience. Walking out he slammed his fist through the wall sending chunks of stone scattering across the ground. As he stepped outside, he suddenly stopped and turned to look to his left sensing someone was there.

Seeing no one he continued his search.

Further down the pathway in the direction Myotismon had looked, Dawn peered out from behind a large stone pillar. She watched as the vampire Digimon entered another ruin before storming out moments later.

"It looks like he's looking for something." Agumon muttered from behind his partner as he watched Myotismon opened a tomb that was surrounded by rubble.

"Yeah, but what?" Dawn wondered.

Myotismon growled as he stood up straight, having found the tomb to only contain bones. He heard another faint explosion. "Those fools should have finished the DigiDestined off by now. This would be so much easier if they weren't playing around."

He left the tomb and walked off down another pathway. On his right was a tall stone wall that ran almost the full length of the path with an archway in the middle. As he passed, he glanced through the gap and found himself taking a step back.

Through the archway was a large square clearing consisting of paving stones that had greenery sprouting out from between the gaps. Across at the far end of the clearing was a small long ruin. It was mostly still standing in tact; apart from the left corner of the structure, which had collapsed from the battle earlier.

The only entrance was a tall rectangular shape with two pillars fused into the walls either side. But the entrance was almost completely hidden by the large thick roots of a tree that had grown on top over the years. The roots drooped down spreading out across the ground like long and extremely huge octopus legs.

Myotismon walked through the archway and across the clearing towards the entrance to the ruin. He paused for a moment before he carefully pushed aside the roots enough for him to step through.

Inside was a large long room. At the back were twelve stone tombs; all lined up against the wall, which had ancient Digi code carved into it above each of the tombs.

Myotismon walked up to the tombs and studied each one. They all looked the same, with some covered in moss and plants that had sprouted up through the cracks in the floor. He turned and walked over to the tomb of the far left. He stretched out his hand and fired a single energy blast from his palm.

It struck the stone slab resting on top, breaking it apart. Once the dust had settled he saw the tomb was empty.

Growling under his breath he moved to the next one opening it in the same way he had opened the first. Again, the second tomb was empty. As he moved along blasting each one open his patience grew less and less and his attacks became more aggressive.

Dawn and Agumon appeared at the entrance, sneaking a look through the gap in the thick roots. They watched the vampire Digimon as he opened the fifth and sixth tomb.

Myotismon blasted open the seventh, and was about to move onto the eighth when he caught something out of the corner of his eye through the dust cloud.

Once the dust had settled enough, he saw inside the tomb were a set of steps that led down underground.

He stepped up and peered down. Only the top half of the steps were visible as the bottom half were hidden in the darkness. "Could this be it?" he said to himself before he began to make his way down.

Dawn pushed back a thick root that was in her way. "C'mon Agumon."

The further down the steps went, the darker it became and Myotismon could feel his strength growing. He reached the bottom and came to a stop when he was met with a large empty room.

The room was huge in length and height. Running down either side were rows of thick stone pillars. The tops of the pillars nor the ceiling could be seen due to the darkness. The only light was the small flicker from two candles at the other end of the room either side of a large tall stone tomb that was stood upright, as well as from the small candles attached to each of the large pillars.

The tomb immediately caught Myotismon's attention as he suddenly felt a rush inside his body as if he was being drawn to it.

Two small shadows appeared on the wall as Dawn and Agumon reached the bottom of the steps but they quickly pressed their bodies against the side of the wall once they saw Myotismon.

Realising he had his back to them they jumped down from the bottom step and ran over to the nearest pillar, hiding behind it in the darkness. They then peered out from behind it to see Myotismon had reached the far end of the room.

Myotismon stopped about twenty feet away from the tomb. He noticed there was a stone statue of an angel Digimon infused into the front of it, holding in both hands a weapon of some sorts against his chest.

"This could be it…" Myotismon thought aloud. "I suppose the only way to get this open is by brute force." He formed his Crimson Lightning attack in his right hand. But as he took just one step forward the two flames on the candles flickered before suddenly engulfing to triple their size, causing him to take a step back in surprise.

The sound of cracking stone could be heard, and that's when Myotismon noticed the statue of the Digimon had begun to change.

The statue was breaking apart from the tomb, and it gradually began to morph from stone back into the original form of the Digimon; ClavisAngemon.

Myotismon backed up still clutching his Crimson Lightning attack, as Dawn and Agumon watched on from the back of the room.

Once the transformation was complete ClavisAngemon dropped down onto the ground, holding his weapon in his right hand. He slowly lifted his head up opening his eyes, which immediately fell upon the vampire Digimon. "You shall not pass, Myotismon." He spoke calmly, his voice echoing slightly.

Myotismon growled. "Another one of Azulongmon's guards? If you're anything like the others this shouldn't take long… Crimson Lightning!"

ClavisAngemon raised his weapon and with a single swipe he sliced through the stream of energy disabling it instantly, much to Myotismon's surprise. "I know why you are here. Azulongmon entrusted me to guard this tomb from everyone, especially you, and I will not fail him."

"Then you know I am here to claim back what is rightfully mine. Azulongmon stole an important part of me, and now that I know the truth no one is going to stand in my way!" Myotismon declared before he lunged forward. He formed his Crimson Lightning attack into the shape of a long red sword before he swung it high up and then down at the angel Digimon.

ClavisAngemon raised his own weapon, blocking the red sword before he swung his around forcing Myotismon's blade away from him.

The two Digimon began a fierce sword fight and sparks ignited each time their weapons clashed. Each one blocked and attempted to counter attack the other.

Dawn watched on, her digivice clutched tightly in her hand as she contemplated whether to join the fight…

IceLeomon stumbled back as he was punched by Beelzemon X, who then blasted him with his Double Impact attack. He was thrown back colliding with a wall before he slumped down amongst a pile of rubble.

"C'mon IceLeomon!" Stacey urged her partner. "Keep it up, you're doing great!"

Aegisdramon X descended down beside Beelzemon X. "Lets take care of the weaker one first." He growled. "Shine Breaker!"

"Double Impact!"

IceLeomon pushed himself up. He looked to see two attacks heading straight for him. Gasping he threw himself out of the way before somersaulting back up onto his feet, now holding his sword in his right hand as the attacks blasted the wall to pieces. But before he had time to launch his own attack, Megidramon X appeared from behind and unleashed a mini shockwave from his mouth.

"Hell Howling!"

The attack hit IceLeomon from behind and he was thrown face down against the ground. He groaned before his body began to glow and he de-digivolved back into Gabumon and SnowAgumon.

Megidramon X moved forward so he was just above the two rookies. He opened his mouth and began to prepare a more powerful attack…

"Mega Claw!" WarGreymon flew down and began to spin his body round like a tornado before he slammed into Megidramon X with full force. He forced Megidramon X away from SnowAgumon and Gabumon before he ploughed into Beelzemon X and Aegisdramon X sending all three X Digimon crashing into a heap on the ground against the side of a large temple.

Stacey ran over to her fallen Digimon with her father. She bent down and lifted Gabumon up into her arms. "They're too strong, even for your Digimon Dad." She said.

Matt picked up SnowAgumon. "Perhaps now its time we introduced them to Omnimon?" he said, glancing back at Tai who seemed to be preoccupied. "Tai?"

Tai had his back to them as he looked around before he turned to look over to Matt. "Where's Dawn?"

WarGreymon turned to look over his shoulder as he too realised the absence of BurningGreymon. He then realised BurningGreymon wasn't the only Digimon missing. "Also, where is Myotismon?" he added.

Megidramon X stirred and immediately spotted WarGreymon had his back slightly to him. Roaring he lunged up into the air. "Hell Howling!" he unleashed his shockwave attack which struck the dragon Digimon from behind at point blank range.

WarGreymon had the wind knocked out of him as he was blasted out of the air, de-digivolving back to Agumon before he hit the ground inches from Tai.

"Agumon!"

Myotismon jumped back every time ClavisAngemon swung his weapon, forcing him away from the tomb and towards the steps.

Dawn and Agumon scooted further back behind the pillar as Myotismon jumped back directly in line with them.

ClavisAngemon was turning out to be tougher than he had originally thought. He was certainly stronger and more skilled than the rest of Azulongmon's army. Even though the angel Digimon was the only one left standing between him and his soul, he would still need to find the key to open the chest…

ClavisAngemon jumped up into the air, holding his weapon high above his head…

Myotismon gasped as he was snapped from his thoughts and saw the ClavisAngemon heading straight down for him about to swing his 'sword'. Instinctively he raised his arm, blocking the attack. "Argh!" he cringed as the weapon struck his arm, stopping inches from his face. He struggled, his arm shaking under the pressure as he felt ClavisAngemon pressing down with all his strength.

And that's when he realised… His eyes widened just as ClavisAngemon withdrew his weapon and jumped back, skidding backwards against the ground back to his position in front of the tomb.

ClavisAngemon's 'sword' was the shape of a key….

Standing up straight, Myotismon began to chuckle to himself, his eyes fixed on it. "It was right in front of me. A clever trick no doubt by Azulongmon to hide it in plain sight."

ClavisAngemon grasped his key in both hands tighter than before. "This is not as easy as it may look Myotismon!" he warned. "As long as I am still standing the key will be useless to you!"

Myotismon scoffed. "Anyone who stands in my way of what I want never lives to tell about it." he threatened before he pulled his cape up around his body. "Grizzly Wing!" he flung his cape open and released his swarm of bats.

ClavisAngemon jumped back and brought his golden key up in front of his face before he swung and spun it in every direction possible to block the bat attack.

Spurred on with desire, Myotismon lunged forward taking his opportunity to strike whilst ClavisAngemon was still preoccupied with blocking the last remaining bats. "Blood Punch!" he drew his fist back before dealing a powerful blow to the angel Digimon's face just as his Grizzly Wing attack had ended.

ClavisAngemon grunted as he was thrown back against one of the stone pillars.

"Crimson Lightning!" As quick as a flash he formed his red energy beam and flung it at the mega Digimon which then wrapped itself around ClavisAngemon's body trapping him. Myotismon dropped down to the ground and walked a few steps towards him. "And now to end this and finally return to the Digimon I was born to be…." He declared. He brought his cape up preparing to attack…

Dawn clutched her digivice tightly, standing up straight before she pulled her goggles up onto her head. "That's it Agumon, enough standin' around!" she swiftly released her Digital Ring and placed it inside her crest…

"AGUMON DOUBLE DIGIVOLVE TO… BURNINGGREYMON!"

BurningGreymon flew the full length of the room and tackled Myotismon from the side before he had chance to release his Grizzly Wing attack. He slammed the vampire Digimon against the wall before jumping back and aiming his guns and firing a continuous round of energy bullets. "Pyro Barrage!"

The bullets struck Myotismon and a cloud of dust filled the air.

BurningGreymon ceased his fire and waited until the dust had settled. There was a moment of quiet until Myotismon emerged from the dust cloud and flung his cape back that had been wrapped around his body, which was unscratched.

"No way!" Dawn gasped in disbelief.

Myotismon remained in the air, directly opposite BurningGreymon. "I'm starting to get a little tired of you two showing up everywhere." He spat. "You're like a bad smell that won't go away."

Dawn clenched her fists. "Hey, I took a bath yesterday!"

"Too many good Digimon have perished under your control Myotismon. We're not about to let you destroy another." BurningGreymon declared before he swooped down to free ClavisAngemon.

"I don't think so… Crimson Lightning!"

The attack struck BurningGreymon in the face stopping him in his tracks. Before he had chance to recover Myotismon lunged forward and punched him in the chest with such force it sent him crashing down against the ground near the stone pillars.

Myotismon formed his Crimson Lightning attack once more and sliced it clean through the bottom of the pillar causing it to topple over.

BurningGreymon looked over his shoulder and gasped as the pillar headed straight for him. It crashed down on top of him, pinning him down and causing him to wail in agony.

"BurningGreymon!" Dawn yelled as she ran over to her partner who was struggling to lift the pillar off his back.

Myotismon smiled. "That should keep you from meddling for a while."

BurningGreymon stopped struggling and glared at the vampire Digimon.

Myotismon then pulled his cape up over his face so only his eyes were showing. "And now ClavisAngemon, I am afraid your time is up… Grizzly Wing!" he spun round and flung open his cape and released his swarm of bats in the direction of the angel Digimon with all his strength.

ClavisAngemon struggled to free himself but it was no use as the bats slammed into him at full force.

Dawn and BurningGreymon both gasped as they watched on helplessly.

Once the bats had ceased and the Crimson Lightning attack disappeared from around his battered body, ClavisAngemon fell forward hitting the cold stone ground with his key landing beside him.

"Forgive me Azulongmon… for I have failed you…" he murmured before his body slowly began to fizzle away into tiny pieces of data.

Dawn was frozen on the spot as she watched yet another good Digimon disappear before her eyes.

ClavisAngemon's key began to glow before it slowly began to shrink in size until it lost its shine and represented the size of an average ancient looking key.

Myotismon smiled. "At last."

Dawn watched as he began to walk over to where the key lay. Again, she could feel her anger growing. There was no way she was going to let ClavisAngemon's death be in vein. He felt he had failed Azulongmon so the least she could do was to stop Myotismon getting his hands on whatever that key was for. She left BurningGreymon's side and ran as fast as she could towards the vampire Digimon…

"Dawn, no!" BurningGreymon yelled, still pinned underneath the pillar. But he froze as he felt a slight surge in his strength…

"Huh?" Myotismon froze and turned his head to look over his shoulder just as Dawn was right behind him.

Dawn ducked and lunged forward as if she was tackling an opposing soccer player. She skidded through Myotismon's legs and along the ground, scooping up the key in her hand before stumbling back up onto her feet.

Myotismon jerked his head back around after feeling something snag on the bottom of his cape. "You…" he snarled under his breath.

"Did you forget about me?" Dawn taunted a little before she narrowed her eyes confidently. "This isn't over yet Myotismon."

To be continued…
