Digimon 2.5 "Adventure 03"
Episode 44: "Courage Under Fire"
.:Unknown Island, Net Ocean, Digital World:.
"Shine Breaker!"
MetalGarurumon flew up into the air, jumping off stone pillars and tall temples as he dodged each continuous blast that Aegisdramon X had just fired from his cannons. A trail of destruction followed him as he successfully escaped each one. In mid-air, he looked down to see Megidramon X flying up towards him. "Metal Wolf Claw!" He spewed out his ice cold attack, spraying Megidramon X in cold air and freezing him solid.
Megidramon X fell to the ground and remained motionless for a moment before he began to shudder and he managed to break free from the ice that had hardened all over his body. The ice exploded into tiny shards and his wings, hands and the tip of his tail engulfed in fire before he unleashed a blast of flames. "Megid Flame!"
MetalGarurumon, who had just descended down to the ground, leapt back up into the air, dodging the attack which then struck a small temple behind him reducing the stone to ash.
Beelzemon X dropped down from above, hovering just behind Matt's Digimon. "Double Impact!" he thrust his two guns forward and fired two bullets blasting MetalGarurumon out of the air.
He hit the ground hard and turned to look up to see Beelzemon X had one gun pointing down at him. As quick as a flash, MetalGarurumon rolled over onto his back. "Giga Missile!" he opened up the launcher on his chest and fired a single missile.
The missile shot upwards, striking Beelzemon X's gun and knocking it clean out of his grasp and obliterating it at the same time.
Beelzemon X looked stunned for a second as his gun exploded before his eyes, and he turned to glare down at MetalGarurumon, growling under his breath.
"That just made him angrier." Stacey commented from just behind her father before glancing up at him. "We could really use some help here, Dad. MetalGarurumon can't last against these three clowns."
"Darkness Claw!" Beelzemon X launched his claws at the cyborg Digimon, but MetalGarurumon just managed to dodge it.
Matt watched as his partner then turned his attention to Megidramon X. "I know…" he finally replied. "I just hope Tai finds Dawn in time."
Dawn stood bravely in front of Myotismon, not fazed by the obvious dangerous situation she had now put herself in. "This isn't over yet Myotismon." She said boldly as she stood on the very spot ClavisAngemon had perished.
The vampire Digimon narrowed his eyes. "I didn't come all this way and eliminate an entire army to lose to a child." He muttered. "Crimson Lightning!"
Dawn darted to the left, just missing the attack that struck the ground blasting a small hole in the stone. She ran behind the row of pillars as Myotismon flung his attack at her again and again, striking each pillar a split second after she had passed them.
With each miss, Myotismon grew more frustrated and his attacks became more aggressive. "You're not going to escape me this time!" he warned blasting another pillar to pieces. He looked around the darkened room for any sign of movement.
Unknown to him Dawn was crouched down hiding behind the large stone tomb.
"Hiding in the shadows won't spare you." Myotismon sneered. He then noticed Dawn's shadow on the wall behind the tomb from the candle light. He chuckled and prepared his attack once more…
"D-Dawn..." BurningGreymon grunted. He heaved himself up as best as he could. At first the pillar wouldn't budge, but as he continued to push all of his strength upwards, he could feel his power increasing. Gradually the pillar began to move, and he was able to push it up enough until he could throw it off his back.
Myotismon was about to unleash his Crimson Lightning when he heard the pillar crash against the ground. He turned around just in time to see BurningGreymon flying straight for him.
BurningGreymon slammed into the vampire Digimon with full force, pushing him through the air until he slammed him into the wall.
Myotismon struggled a little at first, as he could now feel BurningGreymon's new found strength pinning him against the wall. He chuckled a little. "I see you are stronger… but you're still not strong enough to beat me… Blood Punch!"
This time BurningGreymon was too quick and managed to jump up, resulting in Myotismon punching thin air. "Missed me." He taunted calmly.
The vampire Digimon growled before pulling his cape up over his face. "Grizzly Wing!" he flung it open and unleashed his swarm of bats.
"Wildfire Tsunami!" BurningGreymon engulfed his body in a firery aura before he released it as a fierce tornado which ripped apart the bats turning them into ash. "Pyro Barrage!" he immediately fired his energy bullets from his guns catching Myotismon off guard.
They struck him head on and he was thrown back against the wall, a little stunned.
Dawn appeared from behind the tomb, walking over to stand next to her Digimon partner, the key still in her hand. "Don't underestimate us, Myotismon. We're not giving up that easily."
Myotismon, who was leaning his weight against the wall, stood up straight and smiled slightly. "Then perhaps now it is time I showed you what the power from the Spirit Stones have done for me." He raised his hands, as Dawn watched a little sceptical, and two spheres of transparent energy suddenly engulfed in each of his palms. Without warning, he thrust both his palms forward unleashing the two energy blasts that quickly exploded in size and overwhelmed the room as one massive shockwave.
The wave struck Dawn and BurningGreymon, as well as demolishing the last remaining pillars that were standing, and they were both thrown the full length of the room, coming to a stop when they slid across the ground and struck the opposite wall.
The whole room started to shake as the ground above became unstable with the pillars now destroyed, and it began to crumble away and cave in…
.:Central Park, Manhattan, New York:.
"How's New York?"
"It's great… but I just can't settle into this trip Biyomon." Sora said with a sigh as she wandered down the path, holding her cell phone up to her right ear. "The Fashion Week doesn't start until tomorrow, which has given me some free time to take in some sights but I just can't seem to relax." She came to a stop just underneath one of the trees. "I still have this feeling that something bad is going to happen, and if it does I'm on the other side of the world."
"Everything's fine Sora. Everything is in one piece, the apartment is still standing..." Biyomon replied humorously.
The bearer of love smiled slightly. "You know what I mean Biyomon…. I know I'm only feeling this way because Myotismon is back…" she said, her smile fading. "I saw on the internet there was another attack the other night."
Biyomon remained quiet, unsure of what to say. The attack at Tokyo Bay, and the damage caused at Highten View Terrace had been on the news. So she knew Sora would no doubt hear about it one way or another. There was no way Sora was going to be on the other side of the world and not keep up to date with what was happening back home.
"Where is Tai? Is he there?" Sora asked, breaking the rookie from her thoughts. "I've tried calling his cell three times already this morning."
"… He's out with Dawn." Biyomon replied. "I'll tell him to call you back as soon as he gets home."
"Thanks… I'll call again tomorrow and let you know how the first event went."
"Okay, have fun."
After Sora hung up, she looked down at the wallpaper image on her phone screen, which was a photo of Tai and Dawn from their last summer vacation; both of them pulling funny faces for the camera. "You two better not have gotten yourselves into any trouble." She muttered to herself.
.:Unknown Island, Net Ocean, Digital World:.
Dawn cringed as she pushed herself up. She was surrounded by rubble from the remains of the ground that had fallen from above. She looked up to see Myotismon approaching them over the mounds of debris, his features highlighted in the moonlight that was now shining through the huge hole.
He formed his Crimson Lightning attack in his right hand before launching it directly at them.
BurningGreymon responded quickly by jumping to his feet and scooping Dawn up in his arms and leaping to the side, just missing the attack. He dodged another, and another before he skidded to a stop and put Dawn down. He raised his arm blocking another and the red energy beam ricocheted off his armour.
Myotismon retracted his attack and began to walk towards them. "The power from the Spirit Stones have not only increased my strength, but they have also given me new abilities. Even with your new found strength you still won't be able to stop me."
"We'll just see about that!" BurningGreymon grunted before he leapt forward and flew towards the vampire Digimon. He withdrew his right fist preparing to unleash an almighty punch.
Myotismon remained calm and still. He simply raised his hand as if signalling someone to halt and released an invisible force.
Just as BurningGreymon was about to thrust his fist forward, the force struck him freezing his whole body in mid-air. He struggled to move, and all he could feel was the invisible force compressing his muscles.
Myotismon chuckled and simply waved his hand to the right, controlling BurningGreymon and throwing him across the full length of the room and into a mound of debris.
BurningGreymon soon emerged from the rubble, covered in dust and bits of dirt. "Pyro Barrage!" he pointed his two guns forward and fired a continuous stream of energy bullets.
Myotismon leapt up avoiding the attack. He began to move around the room, jumping and dodging each bullet as BurningGreymon followed his path in an attempt to strike him.
Dawn watched on. She grew just as frustrated as her partner as she watched him miss each time.
Myotismon jumped down, landing on the ground just in front of the large tomb as another round of bullets came his way. He swooped to the right, dodging them.
The bullets struck the tomb in various places blasting huge holes and cracks in it.
Myotismon shielded his eyes with his arm as some chunks of stone showered over him. He lowered his arm and looked across to see the tomb was badly damaged.
But once the dust cloud had gradually cleared, he saw something encased in the middle of the solid stone tomb. The metal shimmered as the moonlight hit it.
"Oh, I almost forgot." Myotismon chuckled to himself. "How careless of me… Crimson Lightning!" he struck the tomb with his own attack, blasting it completely open. Large chunks of rock exploded everywhere and the small metal chest inside fell amongst the remains.
"So that is what you were after…" BurningGreymon growled as he watched Myotismon walk over and pick the chest up. "That is what you destroyed ClavisAngemon for!?"
"That's it?!" Dawn exclaimed. "You destroyed ClavisAngemon for a pokey little chest? You really are the lowest of the low Myotismon!"
Myotismon chuckled as he lifted the chest up to his eye level, admiring it for a moment. "You have no idea what is inside this chest." He warned as he turned to face them. "Inside here is something very important to me, something which will finally see all you DigiDestined surrender to me…" he paused as he lowered the chest. "Now all I need is that key you are so kindly keeping safe for me." He added humorously.
Dawn scowled. She backed up a couple of steps, half hiding the key behind her back. "In your dreams." She shot back bravely as BurningGreymon appeared protectively in front of her.
Myotismon chuckled, humouring himself. "That wasn't a request."
"You'll have to go through me first!" BurningGreymon exclaimed, striking a defensive pose.
"That shouldn't be too difficult." Myotismon replied. He took the chest and using the small metal handle on the side he clipped it to his belt, half hiding it underneath his cape. He then walked a few steps forward before coming to a stop directly in line with BurningGreymon and Dawn. He raised his hands before thrusting them down, shooting sparks of red energy down deep into the ground. The energy surged through the stones, cracking them open.
BurningGreymon looked around him as the ground began to shake and split apart beneath his feet. He looked up to see Myotismon turn his palms upwards as the momentum underground increased to the point where it would explode upon his command….
Realising what was about to happen, he spun round and threw himself at Dawn, grabbing her and protecting her with his own body a split second before Myotismon threw his hands upwards causing the shockwave that had been building up to ignite underneath.
The explosion was huge. The pressure from underneath blasted everything up into the air, carrying BurningGreymon and Dawn with it.
They both screamed as they were thrown out of the underground temple amidst a shower of debris. The shockwave continued, sending them high up into the air before they came crashing back down landing in another location…
Tai and Agumon both skidded to a stop and looked up after hearing and feeling the massive explosion. "What was that?" the bearer of Courage gasped. He saw smoke rising up into the night sky amidst a shower of rubble.
Agumon was about to reply when he looked up and saw a large stone slab heading straight for them. "Look out!" he exclaimed. He shoved Tai to the side, slamming him against the wall of a temple as the stone slab struck the ground breaking into small pieces. It was soon followed by a few smaller pieces of rubble falling around them. "Whatever it was," Agumon began once the shower of debris had ceased. "No doubt it's got Myotismon written all over it."
Tai unclipped his digivice from his belt and looked at the screen. His daughter's signal had now moved from its previous location to somewhere a little closer to them. "C'mon!" he quickly clipped his digivice back to his belt before the two friends took off once more.
Dawn groaned as she slowly sat up. The force from the impact had thrown her from BurningGreymon's arms. They had landed in the middle of a large circular stone structure. She looked ahead to see her partner slowly pushing himself up onto his knees. Around them were pieces of rubble from the temple.
"Are you okay Dawn?" BurningGreymon asked.
"Yeah, I think so." Dawn replied. She cringed a little as she felt her head, which felt as if it had a slight bump. She looked down to see she still had hold of ClavisAngemon's key. "Man that was one hell of a ride." She said rubbing her head.
"Dawn!"
Dawn turned around at the sound of her name and saw her father and Agumon running through a gap in the stone structure. "Dad!" she scrambled to her feet and began to run to him. "Dad, Myotismon he's-"
At that moment Myotismon appeared, descending down and blocking the Kamiya girl's path causing her to skid to a stop. "Ah, you couldn't have picked a more fitting venue… one where death decides who loses." He mocked.
Dawn took a moment to look around at her surroundings, now releasing the circular structure they had landed in resembled a somewhat run down coliseum.
"Dawn, watch out!" Tai shouted as he and Agumon ran towards them.
Myotismon looked over his shoulder, seeing Tai and Agumon. He then glanced to his left to see there was an old cage in the wall of the coliseum. "I'll deal with you two later." He said before raising his hand and releasing the same invisible force he had used on BurningGreymon earlier.
The force struck Tai and Agumon freezing them on the spot. Myotismon then waved his hand to the left and flung them across the coliseum and straight into the cage. They hit the ground and slid across until they struck the back wall with Agumon slumping on top of Tai, who cringed as he landed on his injured shoulder.
Myotismon raised his right hand and with a flick of the wrist he commanded the bars at the top of the cage to close.
Tai and Agumon looked up just as the bars slammed down shut, trapping them inside.
"Dad! Agumon!" Dawn shouted. She then turned to glare up at Myotismon, her fists clenched. "You let them go!" she demanded.
Myotismon chuckled turning his attention back to the brown haired girl. "You two are better off separated." He replied, to which Dawn looked puzzled. "I'll finish them off once I've dealt with you."
BurningGreymon moved himself in front of his human partner. "Like I said, if you want that key you're going to have to get through me first!" he lunged forward full of rage.
Myotismon took a defensive pose and raised his hands grabbing hold of both of BurningGreymon's before the dragon Digimon could tackle him. But the force from his lunge forced Myotismon back a little, skidding backwards.
He soon came to a stop and the two Digimon locked strengths; each one trying their best to overcome the other. Their arms trembled against the force they were both applying against each other. "Is that all you've got?" Myotismon mocked.
"No," BurningGreymon simply replied. "Pyro Barrage!" from point blank range, he fired up his two guns and blasted Myotismon.
Myotismon was thrown back by the blast and hit the ground hard. He soon pushed himself up and looked down to see where the attacks had hit had damaged his clothes a little. He growled, getting to his feet. "You…" he sneered. "Crimson Lightning!" he formed his favoured attack and unleashed it at BurningGreymon.
Dawn's Digimon jumped back dodging it, but the red stream of energy kept on coming and coming. He tried his best to keep dodging it but Myotismon was too quick and soon struck him across the side of the head knocking him to the ground. He groaned a little and looked up to see another heading straight for him. He managed to jump up into the air just missing it.
Myotismon flung his Crimson Lightning attack upwards and it wrapped itself around BurningGreymon's left leg. He quickly formed another Crimson Lightning in his left hand and thrust it upwards.
BurningGreymon grunted as the beam of energy struck across his chest, leaving him suspended in mid-air.
Myotismon soared up until he was just a little bit higher than the ultimate Digimon. "Blood Punch!" he withdrew his right fist before slamming it down on top of BurningGreymon's head, sending him crashing to the ground amidst a cloud of smoke.
"No, BurningGreymon!" Dawn exclaimed. The smoke cloud cleared and she saw her partner lying motionless face down. "C'mon, don't give up!"
Tai rammed his good shoulder against the bars of the cage in a hopeless attempt to break them. "Come… on!" he exclaimed between shoves.
"Tai, stop it!" Agumon exclaimed grabbing his partner's arm and pulling him back. "You don't want to injure your other shoulder do you?"
"Then you try and bust us outta here!" Tai snapped. "Dawn needs me!"
"I've already tried!" Agumon shot back. "These bars are locked tight. If I could digivolve it would be no problem."
"Grizzly Wing!"
The sound of Myotismon's attack caught their attention and they both looked out to where the vampire Digimon had just released his swarm of bats.
"BurningGreymon look out!" Dawn warned.
BurningGreymon looked up to see the bats fluttering down straight for him. "Urgh…" he cringed as he turned over onto his back. "Wildfire Tsunami!" He released his tornado of fire which engulfed the bats disabling the attack before he managed to get back to his feet.
Myotismon suddenly dropped down to the ground directly in front of him. "Blood Punch!" he crouched down as he curled his fist and dealt a powerful blow up into BurningGreymon's chest, sending him up into the air.
Dawn gawped as she witnessed her partner crash to the ground once again. She looked up and glared at Myotismon. "You may be winning this one right now but you're not as strong as you think you are!" she shouted, earning a look from the vampire Digimon. "You're still just Myotismon! If you were stronger like you say you are you'd have the power to digivolve back into MaloMyotismon!"
Myotismon growled, clenching his fists. "MaloMyotismon may have been my mega form, but I can assure you my power will surpass that once I open this chest…" he spat back, motioning to the chest on his belt. "And then, DigiDestined; you will be in for a big surprise."
"What's he talking about?" Agumon wondered.
"I have no idea." Tai replied, his eyes fixed on his daughter.
"We're not giving up the key that easily." BurningGreymon growled, who was now back on his feet. "ClavisAngemon gave his life in trying to prevent you from getting your hands on whatever is inside that chest... And we're not going to let him down."
"Then you will suffer the same fate as he did… Grizzly Wing!" Myotismon wrapped his cape around his body before flinging it open and unleashing another swarm of bats.
BurningGreymon brought his arms together so his two weapons were touching. "Pyro Barrage!" he fired two large fire laser beams, which merged together into one big blast. It ripped through the bats destroying them instantly and continued on its path towards Myotismon.
The vampire Digimon twisted his body to the right barely missing the attack as it flew past him and struck part of the coliseum blowing it apart. Myotismon growled before he prepared his Crimson Lightning attack in his right hand. "Your strength won't hold out forever. As suspected you're already showing signs of weakness. Soon enough you will fall to me…. Crimson Lightning!"
BurningGreymon spun his body around, which then engulfed in flames acting as a shield. The flames broke away from him like a tornado and blocked the on-coming attack. He stopped spinning and came to a stop, facing Myotismon once more. "And it'll only be a matter of time before you start showing signs of your weakness." He mocked, earning a sneer from Myotismon.
"I can assure you I have no weakness." The vampire Digimon retorted.
"Everybody has a weakness," BurningGreymon objected. "Only someone as arrogant as you would deny having one!"
Myotismon growled, and out of rage he unleashed a surprise attack. He thrust his arms forward so his hands were touching and his palms were facing outwards and he released a beam of red energy.
"Pyro Barrage!" BurningGreymon quickly fired a stream of bright gold energy from his two guns which formed into one big laser beam.
Both attacks collided but continued to push against each other.
Myotismon increased his strength pushing more and more of his energy beam against BurningGreymon's. He slowly began to overpower him and the red energy started to engulf the gold.
BurningGreymon grunted as he struggled to keep the momentum of his attack going. He could feel Myotismon's beam getting stronger to the point where it would cancel out his altogether. Just as the red energy was almost on top of him, it exploded cancelling both attacks out. The force from the blast caused the ultimate Digimon to tumble down, landing on his back.
Myotismon then appeared in the air through the smoke from the explosion. "Crimson Lightning!"
BurningGreymon swiftly twisted his body and thrust one of his guns upwards. "Pyro Barrage!" he fired a single shot, which blasted through the Crimson Lightning disabling it and grazing Myotismon's right shoulder.
The impact was weak, but with enough force to cause Myotismon to wobble a little in the air. He glanced at his shoulder and smirked to himself before looking down at the ultimate Digimon. "Just as I thought. You're beginning to tire. Your aim is becoming poor." He taunted, which earned a growl from the ultimate Digimon. "This shouldn't take too long… Blood Punch!" Myotismon swooped down but ended up punching the ground as the dragon Digimon threw himself out of the way.
BurningGreymon had no time to recover himself as Myotismon came at him again. He grunted, becoming a little exhausted, as he manoeuvred his arms to block each punch that came his way.
Dawn watched on through gritted teeth as she watched Myotismon easily overpowered her partner forcing him back.
As BurningGreymon began to tire his blocks became slower allowing Myotismon to sneak in a punch just below his abdomen.
"Blood Punch!" Myotismon released a final punch; this one much stronger than the rest. He swung his fist and dealt the blow straight at BurningGreymon's face knocking him to the ground.
"Get up BurningGreymon!" Dawn shouted encouragingly just as Myotismon wrapped his cape around his body…
"Grizzly Wing!"
BurningGreymon looked up, catching his breath. He saw the swarm of bats thundering down towards him. With all his strength he leapt up and soared up into the air just moments before the bats exploded into the ground. He spun round and dived down, his body beginning to glow as he prepared his Wildfire Tsunami attack…
Myotismon dropped down to the ground and looked up somewhat calmly. He smiled to himself as he watched BurningGreymon get closer and closer. "Time to end this little game… Crimson Lightning!" he raised his attack high above his head before he flung it upwards.
BurningGreymon didn't have time to avoid it and the red energy bolt struck him straight through the chest. "Arrrrgh!" he wailed in agony as it pierced through and sucked out his remaining energy; his body becoming paralysed in the process.
"BurningGreymon!" Dawn yelled in dismay, as Tai and Agumon also watched on in horror.
"I believe you said I would have to go through you first!" Myotismon mocked before he withdrew his attack pulling it out from the ultimate Digimon's chest.
BurningGreymon fell limp and fell from the air crashing to the ground motionless. He groaned; his last bit of strength finally giving out. His body began to glow. He tried his best to fight it but the light soon overcame him and he de-digivolved back to Agumon.
Dawn gasped. "No…Agumon!" she was frozen on the spot for a moment just staring at her partner before she turned to look at Myotismon who was now looking at her.
He smiled sinisterly. "Now that I have defeated your Digimon I will be taking that key now." He said, extending his arm out.
Dawn took a step back, hiding the key behind her back as she narrowed her eyes. "No." she said calmly.
"No?" Myotismon repeated raising an eyebrow as he began to walk towards her, forcing her back even more to keep the same distance between them. "Who is there to stop me taking it from you? You don't have the power to fight me off."
Dawn continued to back up, stumbling a little over some debris as Tai watched on helplessly.
"You're all alone now." Myotismon mocked still walking towards her. "Your father can't help you, your Digimon is defeated. No doubt my henchmen have finished your friends off by now. Do you really think you, a mere child, can stand up to a superior Digimon like me?"
Dawn stopped edging backwards. She looked over to her fallen Digimon, then over to her father and Agumon. The situation looked hopeless, but there was no way she was going to give in. As she bravely stood there, her crest and digivice began to glow….
"Dawn run! Get outta there!"
Dawn ignored her father's plea as she looked back up at Myotismon firmly, standing up straight before she answered his question. "Yes."
Myotismon was a little taken back at first by her answer. He narrowed his eyes. "Then you're a foolish child."
"There's nothing 'foolish' about standing up to a bully like you." Dawn said confidently. "You destroyed Gennai, Centarumon, ClavisAngemon and many more innocent Digimon just for your pure greed for more power. I know the odds are against me, and I'm going to admit I'm a little afraid right now. But it's standing up to those fears and weaknesses that makes us just that little bit stronger, and I'm going to use every last bit of my courage in defending those fallen Digimon before I give up to you."
Myotismon raised his eyebrows; a little surprised at the Kamiya girl's words. Faced with certain death she was still standing firm. He stepped forward. "And what do you intend to do?"
Dawn took a step back, finally noticing the glow from her crest and digivice, before glaring back up at him.
Myotismon chuckled. "As I suspected. Nothing." He then stepped forward and extended his arm out grabbing Dawn by the scruff of her t-shirt before lifting her up and pinning her against the wall.
Agumon cringed as he lifted his head up off of the ground, looking over to his human partner. "D-Dawn...!" he managed to cry out.
"No! Myotismon put her down!" Tai shouted as he tried again to break the bars by shaking and kicking them, but it was no use.
With his free hand Myotismon snatched the key out of Dawn's grasp. He stared at it for a moment, smiling to himself before he wedged it behind his belt just above where the chest was attached. He glanced over his shoulder to where the others were, smiling proudly to himself, before turning his attention back to the Kamiya girl. "Any last words?"
Dawn's eyes were wide, but her expression soon relaxed and she simply smiled at him. "Yes," she replied. "Digital Ring, release."
Myotismon looked puzzled at first. There was a sound of a 'click' and he looked down to see Dawn's right hand was now on top of her D-Watch. She slowly removed her hand to show him an orange digital ring that was now inside her crest. "Huh?"
The crest shone, before suddenly exploding into a bright orange light blinding the vampire Digimon.
Myotismon wailed in pain as the light burned his eyes and he was forced to release his grip on Dawn, allowing her to fall to the ground at his feet.
Behind them Agumon was now up and on his feet, his body engulfed in a bright light as a rush of power surged through him….
"AGUMON WARP DIGIVOLVE TO… VICTORYGREYMON!"
As the light faded and Myotismon had recovered from his temporally blindness he looked down to see Dawn had vanished. He scowled and turned to look behind him to see she was now stood next to her partner who looked very different.
Where Agumon had been now stood a mega level Digimon. He looked very similar to WarGreymon expect for slight differences in his armour and the shield on his back. He was also brandishing a gigantic sword; the Dramon Breaker.
Myotismon narrowed his eyes and growled under his breath; knowing the battle was not over quite yet. "Is this the 'Ancient Dragon' Wisemon warned me of?"
Tai couldn't help but smile as he looked across to his daughter who was stood there fearlessly next to her partner. "I guess she doesn't need me…"
"Hey, how come I don't get a sword like that?" Agumon commented with a frown.
Dawn looked up at the vampire Digimon, flashing a small hint of the Kamiya grin. "Ready for round two, Myotismon?"
Myotismon gritted his teeth, growling. "You may think you have the upper hand now but I still have one last trick up my sleeve." He swiped the key from his belt and grabbed hold of the chest preparing to unlock it.
"Oh no you don't!" VictoryGreymon warned. He jumped up into the air and soared towards the vampire Digimon. He tackled him with a shoulder barge, forcing Myotismon to drop the key in the process. VictoryGreymon carried him through the air until he slammed him into the wall.
They key fell to the ground, and Dawn bolted forward for it.
Myotismon struggled against VictoryGreymon's strength. He managed to look over the mega Digimon's shoulder only to see Dawn running for the key. "No!" he raised his free hand and fired a single blast from his palm.
The blast flew through the air and struck inches from Dawn and the force threw her back.
"Dawn!" Tai exclaimed.
Dawn groaned and pushed herself up resting her weight on her hands only to see a small smouldering hole in the ground with no sign of the key. "They key! It's gone!" she exclaimed, assuming it to de destroyed from the blast.
"Tai…. I feel stronger…" Agumon spoke up. "I can feel VictoryGreymon's strength. I think I can digivolve again…"
"AGUMON WARP DIGIVOLVE TO… WARGREYMON!"
"Stand back Tai…" WarGreymon grunted as he himself took a step back. "Mega Claw!" he lunged forward at full speed and rammed his claws into the bars smashing them to pieces and freeing them both. He soared through the dust cloud and immediately over to the fight heading straight for Myotismon who had just freed himself from VictoryGreymon's grasp. As he approached him he withdrew his right fist and dealt a powerful and surprised blow to the vampire's face knocking him to the ground. "Hey, remember me?" he mocked gruffly.
Myotismon looked up, still a little startled from the sudden attack. He looked up and saw both WarGreymon and VictoryGreymon hovering above him.
Dawn got to her feet grinning at the sight of WarGreymon and looked over her shoulder and smiled as Tai approached her who smiled back.
Myotismon's eyes fell upon the father and daughter who were now stood beside each other. "No… I can't let them fulfil this prophecy… I have come this far I cannot afford to lose now." He got to his feet. "I may have failed in eliminating you two the other night," He began as he approached them. "But I won't fail this time."
Tai stood protectively in front of his daughter whilst VictoryGreymon and WarGreymon appeared from either side and hovered in front of them.
"Don't even think about hurting them again." WarGreymon warned the vampire before he lunged forward in a fit of rage. "Mega Claw!" he spun round gaining momentum and slammed into Myotismon with full force sending him skidding back.
"We need to get that chest!" Dawn exclaimed.
"What's inside it?" Tai asked.
"I don't know. All I know is Myotismon wants it badly." Dawn replied.
"Just leave it to us." VictoryGreymon replied as he soared ahead after WarGreymon and Myotismon wielding his sword above his head.
"Crimson Lightning!" Myotismon swatted WarGreymon away before he looked up to see VictoryGreymon swooping down straight for him. He responded by transforming his Crimson Lightning into his own sword. He held it above his head, blocking the Dramon Breaker as it swung down upon him.
A sword fight began, almost similar to the one he'd had with ClavisAngemon; only this time Myotismon was the one being overpowered. He found himself being forced back by every swing of VictoryGreymon's sword.
With one of his last swings, VictoryGreymon sliced his sword clean through Myotismon's Crimson Lightning disabling it. Now weapon less Myotismon was left to feel the blow of VictoryGreymon's sword as it swung around from the side knocking him a good few feet away and to the ground. VictoryGreymon then leapt up into the air, holding his sword high above his head as he prepared to strike it down into Myotismon, but the vampire Digimon threw himself out of the way causing him to strike the ground instead. The shock from the Dramon Breaker entering the ground formed huge cracks splitting it open.
Myotismon levitated himself a few feet off of the ground. "You're still not strong enough to defeat me…" he ascended up a little higher before releasing another attack. "Grizzly Wing!"
VictoryGreymon took up a defensive pose raising his sword. "We'll just see about that… Victory Charge!" he then swung his sword around preforming a special technique which struck the bats and reflected them back towards Myotismon.
Myotismon gasped once he saw his own attack heading straight back for him but was not quick enough and the bats engulfed him with full force. He was thrown backwards through the air, landing on his back. He quickly recovered; getting to his feet and throwing his cape back in anger. "How dare you use my own attack against me!" he spat. He then raised both his hands, and at the same time large mounds of rock began to break away from the ground. They levitated around Myotismon before he commanded them forward shooting them at top speed towards the two mega Digimon.
VictoryGreymon and WarGreymon both flew through the air towards the oncoming rocks. They both dodged each boulder as it came their way. WarGreymon punched his way through some whilst VictoryGreymon sliced them in half with his sword.
"I think it's time we ended this little game? Don't you WarGreymon?" VictoryGreymon said a little humorously, quoting Myotismon from earlier.
"I'm with you on that… but first there's something we need to do." WarGreymon replied. "VictoryGreymon, give me a diversion." He commanded.
"I'm on it!" VictoryGreymon swooped to the left leaving WarGreymon's side.
Myotismon spotted him to his right and swiftly levitated another large rock from the ground before launching it at him.
"Victory Charge!" VictoryGreymon preformed his attack again, striking the rock with his sword and purposely aimed it so it would strike the ground just in front of the vampire.
The rock smashed into the ground and into pieces and Myotismon was overwhelmed in a cloud of smoke. He snarled as he protected his eyes with his arm, his vision temporally blinded.
WarGreymon took his chance to pounce and soared down and through the dust cloud. In the blink of an eye he swiped his claws across the vampire Digimon's abdomen before he flew back up into the air.
Myotismon felt the slight impact and stumbled back a few steps. Just as the dust cloud was disappearing completely he looked up to Tai's partner. "Your aim is as poor as your friend's. You hardly touched me." He scoffed.
"It wasn't you I was aiming for." WarGreymon simply replied. He then raised his claw revealing to Myotismon the chest that he had ripped from his belt.
Myotismon gasped and looked down to see the tear now in his belt. "Why you sneaky-" he growled.
WarGreymon ignored him and flung the chest as hard as he could over to where Tai and Dawn were stood. Dawn jumped forward and easily caught it.
"No…" Myotismon uttered under his breath as his eyes fell on the chest now in the Kamiya girl's hands. He swiftly formed his Crimson Lightning attack. "No one steals from me!" he exclaimed before he launched himself forward.
Dawn gasped as she saw the vampire heading straight for them, and Tai quickly stood in front of her.
With a roar Myotismon brought his Crimson Lightning up above his head as he prepared to slice it down upon Tai and Dawn. But as he unleashed it, it hit something hard and metal… and that's when he noticed VictoryGreymon's sword in front of him with the mega Digimon stood protectively in front of the father and daughter.
VictoryGreymon lifted his head up before swiftly manoeuvring his sword. "Victory Charge!" A force ignited from the sword, which threw Myotismon back as well as reflecting his own attack against him.
"Arghh!" he wailed as the bolts of his Crimson Lightning struck all over his body and he was thrown back, hitting the ground and coming to a stop when he struck the wall of the coliseum.
"Now it's time for a little payback…Terra Force!" WarGreymon formed his gigantic sphere of energy and unleashed it from the palms of his hands.
VictoryGreymon jumped up into the air, just beside WarGreymon. "Trident Gaia!" he split his Dramon Breaker sword and equipped the pieces to his arms. He gathered as much energy as he could before he concentrated it to the tips of his sword before he fired it. The two huge laser beams quickly merged together as one, homing down on its target and ripping the ground up as it thundered along.
Myotismon groaned as he pushed himself up, but his eyes soon widened in horror as he saw the two attacks heading straight for him. He quickly pulled his cape over his body in an attempt to protect himself.
The two attacks struck at the same time and caused a massive explosion. Debris flew everywhere as the wall was obliterated and the structure caved in on itself, burying Myotismon under a huge pile of rubble.
WarGreymon and VictoryGreymon both descended down to the ground next to their respective partners just as the rubble stopped falling and the dust cloud cleared.
"Did we do it?" Dawn asked.
"No," Tai replied. "It'll take more than that to defeat Myotismon. At least this gives us a chance to get outta here."
WarGreymon turned to face his partner. "Let's find the others and head back home. We can't beat Myotismon, not tonight anyway. We need to go while we can."
Tai nodded. "You two go ahead and make sure Matt and Stacey are alright. We'll be right behind you."
The two mega Digimon both nodded in response before they flew up into the air and out of the coliseum.
"I'm in trouble aren't I?" Dawn said with a meek look on her face.
Tai turned to face his daughter and smiled at her. "No. In fact I'm proud of you." He said as they began to head towards the exit. "But if you ever put me through that again I'll kill ya." He added jokingly ruffling her hair before they both broke out into a run and left the coliseum.
Matt stood protectively in front of his daughter and her two partners as they slowly backed up into a corner as MetalGarurumon stood in front protecting all four of them.
Beelzemon X, Aegisdramon X and Megidramon X closed in on them, with Beelzemon X in front, chuckling to himself. "You gave it your best shot. But you were never going to defeat all three of us." He pointed his gun directly at them. "The boss is going to be so proud of us…" he added as he prepared to fire his gun.
"Mega Claw!"
As quick as a flash the three X Digimon were tackled from the side and thrown to the ground away from the others before Beelzemon X had chance to fire.
"It's WarGreymon!" MetalGarurumon exclaimed in relief.
"And who's that?" SnowAgumon asked as Dawn's Digimon flew into view.
VictoryGreymon landed on the ground heavily directly behind Megidramon X and thrust his sword straight through the dragon Digimon's abdomen before yanking it back out again, destroying him instantly. He then moved onto Aegisdramon X. He split his sword in two before he leapt up and soared through the air.
WarGreymon sliced his claws at Aegisdramon X who snarled in return and attempted to flee, but he only managed to ascend a few feet into the air before he was pulled back by WarGreymon who dug his claws into his tail pinning it to the ground.
Aegisdramon X had no time to react as VictoryGreymon reached him and sliced his way through his body, splitting him in three and reducing him into a shower of data…
Beelzemon X watched stunned for a few seconds before he growled and pointed his gun up at Dawn's partner. He was about to fire when a blast of ice suddenly struck his gun freezing the barrel shut. He gasped and looked to his right to see Gabumon stood beside MetalGarurumon, his mouth still smouldering cold air. "I'll show you, you pesky rookie!" he spat as he prepared his Darkness Claw attack.
But he didn't have chance to unleash it as WarGreymon dropped down from above and swiftly threw two punches to either side of the X Digimon's face before dealing one last blow up into his chest sending him up into the air where VictoryGreymon was waiting for him…
"Dramon Breaker!" VictoryGreymon preformed a heroic sword technique with his sword before he thrust it down, striking Beelzemon X and pulverized him instantly.
Beelzemon X's scream echoed across the island as his body exploded into tiny pieces of data. His gun fell from his grasp and hit the ground before also disintegrating.
"I'm glad to finally see the back of those three." MetalGarurumon commented a little humorously as WarGreymon and VictoryGreymon dropped down to the ground in front of him.
"Matt!"
Matt looked to his left to see Tai and Dawn running over to them. "Tai…" he began breathing a sigh of relief. "You came back just in time." He added as they reached him.
"Where's Myotismon?" Stacey asked.
"Right now he's buried under a ton of rubble." Dawn replied. "He's gonna have one hell of a headache when he wakes up." she added with a laugh.
"What's that?" Gabumon asked, referring to the chest.
"The reason why Myotismon came to this island." VictoryGreymon replied.
"We'll explain on the way home." Tai added as he helped Dawn up onto the back of her partner. "Right now we need to get outta here before he does wake up and digs himself outta there because he is not going to be happy."
The DigiDestined climbed onto their partners, and the three mega Digimon flew up high into the air, leaving the island behind and beginning their journey across the Net Ocean.
Stacey, who was sat in front of her father on the back of MetalGarurumon, looked across to Dawn. "You know," she began. "Myotismon is going to be coming after that chest."
Dawn glanced down at the small chest in front of her before looking back up at the Ishida girl. "Well, we'll just have to be ready for him when he does come then, won't we?"
Back on the island everything was now quiet and deserted. But the rubble that contained Myotismon soon began to move before a shockwave of energy ignited from underneath blasting the debris everywhere.
Once the dust cloud had settled, Myotismon was now stood up, surrounded by the debris. He was arched forward a little, his fists clenched and his head down. His body was covered in dust and his cape was torn in some places. He slowly lifted his head up and stood up straight in time to catch a glimpse of the DigiDestined flying away in front of the moon.
"Those little thieves…" he muttered to himself. "They have no idea who they are now meddling with." Full of rage he threw his arms outwards and unleashed a shockwave across the already partly destroyed coliseum throwing the debris away from him.
As the rubble was thrown across the coliseum, something shimmered in the moonlight that caught Myotismon's eye.
"Huh?" he walked over, heading into the middle of the coliseum and stopped…
There on the ground, poking out from underneath a slab of stone was the ClavisAngemon's key.
Myotismon bent down and picked it up. He held it in his palm staring at it for a few moments before a small smile appeared on his face, and he chuckled to himself…
To be continued…
