Hi everyone... a little embarrassing it's been so long since I updated this! So sorry I've made everyone wait this long
Greymon Leader Batx flashpoint: Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed that bit. It was fun revisiting those villains again and giving them a little cameo :)
Sweet Cari: Thank you :) Yeah, I'm doing good thanks
Dracofighter: Thanks, hopefully this one is worth the wait too!
Sync The Dragon Tempest: Aw thank you. Glad you're enjoying it :)
TristPHT: Thanks. I've got some plans for Dawn's Agumon digivolution wise but I can't say and give it away. Stacey's Digimon's ultimate form is IceLeomon. The task force idea is good too
Dinoguy200: Thanks :)
RSBCS: I'm glad you're enjoying it :) Thank you for letting me use that chapter title. (I still haven't got round to changing it XD)
Guest: Thanks for your reviews. Tere is a chapter where Stacey has flashbacks to when her mother left that sheds a little light into what happened. I havent mentioned MJ's Mom as there's not really been a moment where I could. Loose ends etc will be tied up once the main fight is over. I don't recall mentioning the year as 2025. If I have it must be a typo as I worked out it would be 2028 or 2029
gustavoerikmf14: some of them might actually match ones I posted on deviantart a while ago :) I wasn't impressed with the 02 ending either XD
Thank you to everyone else who reviewed, faved etc. I can't believe I'm almost at 1,000 reviews. Thank you so much to everyone :)
Digimon 2.5 "Adventure 03"
Episode 60: 'AxeKnightmon Strikes Out'
As Wisemon charged up his time stone to its full strength, Wizardmon tried his best to struggle against the aura surrounding his body that was preventing him from moving. "It's no use trying to fight it," Wisemon warned. "Your magical abilities are nowhere near my level."
"You have no idea of the capabilities of my power." Wizardmon replied. Despite being faced with a potential fatal blow, he remained calm. When he had fallen onto Rainbow Bridge, he had managed to keep hold of his staff, which he still held in his right hand. It was currently at an angle, and if Wizardmon had calculated correctly it was at the right angle…
Down below in the bay, the children and their Digimon continued to watch helplessly from their ice cages. "C'mon Veemon! Bust us outta here, Wizardmon needs help!" Dan ordered.
"Vee Head Butt!" Veemon charged as best as he could in the confined space and rammed his head against the bars of the cage with all his strength, but they remained solid. He tried again and again, but they still stood firm.
"It's no use Dan," Jonathon said, in the cage just behind them. "He's cast a spell on them remember? If our Digimon can't digivolve there's no way Veemon can break it."
Dan remained quiet, gritting his teeth in frustration realising the Izumi boy was right. He looked back up towards the bridge, glaring at Wisemon who still hadn't fired his attack…
"You were lucky enough to be reborn after you sacrificed yourself in this world to help those DigiDestined all those years ago… but I'm afraid you won't be as lucky this time," Wisemon said as he charged up his attack just a little bit more. "I don't understand why Digimon help humans, when all it results in is their own demise..."
"I would rather die trying than let Digimon such as Grandracmon inflict destruction across both worlds!" A split second before Wisemon unleashed his attack; Wizardmon fired a blast from his staff. In a flash it struck Wisemon's left time stone, knocking it off orbit and disabling the aura surrounding Wizardmon who then swooped up and away from the oncoming blast in a second before it struck the bridge.
The children and Digimon cheered as they watched Wizardmon fly up into view away from the smoldering hole now left in the road.
Wisemon frowned. "Sneaky trick… but you are only making it worse for yourself by resisting." He then flew straight at Wizardmon.
The two Digimon began to battle, firing blasts and magical spells at each other which lit up the sky above Rainbow Bridge. Wisemon unleashed a powerful beam from his right palm, to which Wizardmon recoiled it by spinning his staff around at high speed creating a large circular force field. Once it had ceased, Wizardmon fired his own energy beam from his staff. Wisemon opened up his left space time stone, absorbing the attack before releasing it back out of his right stone. It hit Wizardmon, causing him to fall from the air and land roughly on the highest point of the bridge. The force of the impact caused him to lose grip of his staff, which landed a few meters away from him balancing off the edge.
Wizardmon looked up to see Wisemon soaring straight down towards him. Quickly scrambling across the top of the bridge he scooped up his staff just before it was about to fall over the edge. "Magical Game!" With a quick swish, he then disappeared as he activated his invisibility spell.
Wisemon came to an abrupt stop and scowled, landing in the spot Wizardmon had been moments ago. "Hiding now are we? Pitiful." he muttered, looking around. Suddenly he was struck from behind by an invisible force, followed by another blow to his left side. There was a brief pause before an onslaught of blows came from all directions not giving him much time to react to any of them. It didn't take long for his patience to wear out. "That's enough…" he said calmly. In a flash before the next blow came, Wisemon fused his two time stones together before stretching both arms out releasing a large shockwave that engulfed the entire area. At first the shockwave seemed to be useless as it spread, but Wizardmon flickered back into full view as once the shockwave had passed over his body it had cancelled out his invisibility spell. Wisemon slowly turned in his direction after catching a glimpse of him out of the corner of his eye. "Your little spells won't outsmart me. Whatever you cast I will always be able to neutralize it." He boasted before he charged once more.
"Well let's see if you can neutralize this… Blink Breeze!" Wizardmon created a blast of wind from his staff, which he then aimed up at the oncoming Wisemon. The strong wind blew Wisemon up high into the sky, his arms waving about as he tried to fight against it. "Electro Squall!" Wizardmon then immediately summoned his thunder cloud by raising his staff and fired an intense lightning strike down upon Wisemon.
The lightning completely engulfed Wisemon, momentarily disabling him. The power from the strike sent him crashing down onto the bridge, with the force so strong he penetrated through each section of the bridge before splashing into the water below.
After disabling Wisemon for what Wizardmon suspected wouldn't be long, he swooped down away from the bridge and towards the children. His staff began to glow as he prepared a spell that would hopefully break the force field around their ice cages. Just as he was about to release the spell on MJ's cage, Wisemon suddenly reappeared, gliding in from the right whilst dripping with water and blasted Wizardmon out of the air with a single energy shot. The force threw Wizardmon clear across the water, and he crash landed on the beach, skidding to a stop across the sand.
Wisemon floated down towards the beach, just as Wizardmon was picking himself up. "Grandracmon may have given us permission to destroy you all… but now I'm thinking it would be cruel of me to deny him that pleasure… perhaps I'll just toy with you long enough until he returns."
.:Tokyokaiyo University, Minato, Tokyo:.
Across Tokyo bay in the Minato region, AxeKnightmon was standing on top of one of the tall buildings across from Tokyokaiyo University, his cape swaying gently in the breeze. After a thorough search of the area apart from coming across a few scared members of the public he had come up empty in his search for the DigiDestined. Since Grandracmon had given his permission for them to take down the DigiDestined, AxeKnightmon had been hungry for his chance to finally let his true powers show after being held back since arriving in the city. But the longer the search continued, the more impatient he was becoming. He was starting to wonder if the other members of the Nightmare Six had already beaten him to it and had all the fun, but unbeknown to him he was now the last remaining member; unaware of Tactimon and ChaosGallantmon's recent downfalls.
"Why is it Digimon hold such high regard for these humans when they are hiding away like cowards?" he muttered to himself. "Perhaps now it is time I tried to draw them out from wherever they are cowering…" he pondered.
But unknown to AxeKnightmon, he was currently being watched. Across a section of water opposite the building he was standing on was a huge industrial area with many large shipping container depots, and peering out between a gap in two of the buildings by the edge of the water were Matt and MetalGarurumon. "What's he doing Matt?" the mega Digimon asked.
"Nothing," Matt muttered. "He's just been standing there…"
"Maybe now's the time for us to attack," TK suggested, standing just behind his brother with Cody.
Matt nodded, his eyes fixed on AxeKnightmon. "Yeah… c'mon, let's get closer..." he said before disappearing back behind the building.
AxeKnightmon continued to look out across the unusually empty streets within the area. "Maybe I should just start flattening this pathetic place." He continued to mutter to himself. "Once Grandracmon is victorious nothing will be left standing…. But then again, I want to be at full strength when I finally come across those DigiDestined. I want them to feel the true extend of my powers," Whilst he had been thinking aloud to himself, MetalGarurumon stealthily appeared behind him, slowly floating up from behind the building. As the final Nightmare Six member remained still, the android Digimon assumed he was still unaware of his presence. He prepared his chest cannon, and without announcing his attack he fired his missile. But just as he unleashed it, AxeKnightmon smirked slightly and in a flash he spun around to face MetalGarurumon and swatted the oncoming missile away with his spear. The missile was thrown off course and spiralled down before exploding into the water of Tokyo Bay. "At last… Did you really think you could sneak up on me?" AxeKnightmon chuckled as MetalGarurumon scowled at him. "If that's your best tactic in trying to defeat me I don't think I have anything to worry about."
"I didn't come alone you know," MetalGarurumon growled.
AxeKnightmon chuckled once more. "I knew you wouldn't. I would take you for more of a fool if you had come alone…" he paused as he spotted SaberLeomon, who had jumped his way up the building as Leomon before digivolving, jump into view on the opposite side onto the roof of the building. He then looked to his right to see Shakkoumon rise up into view. "The more the merrier… You're just adding to my fun… Twin Spear!" still with his focus on MetalGarurumon, he suddenly charged to the left towards SaberLeomon with his spear drawn.
Almost taken by surprise SaberLeomon quickly leapt out of harms way, skidding across the roof and manoeuvring himself so he was still facing AxeKnightmon. "Nice try but you'll find my speed is a little too quick for you." He taunted, causing AxeKnightmon to snarl.
"Justice Beam!" Shakkoumon fired red laser beams from his eyes, but AxeKnightmon spun his twin spear around creating a force field which fizzled out the attack upon impact.
"Metal Wolf Claw!" MetalGarurumon launched all his missiles throughout his body.
AxeKnightmon jumped up, soaring high into the air and allowing all the missiles to explode into the roof.
Part of the building was damaged, and pieces of the roof were blown off and fell to the ground below where Matt, TK, Cody and Andromon had now arrived running along the pathway that was next to the bay. "Watch out!" TK exclaimed, pushing his brother and Cody back to halt their run just in time as the rubble crashed in front of them. AxeKnightmon had now spotted them from his position above in the sky. He immediately pointed his spear downwards and fired a powerful shot of energy.
Andromon positioned himself in front of the three men. "Gatling Attack!" he fired two missiles from his chest, which rocketed up and homed in on AxeKnightmon's attack. There was a bright flash as the two attacks exploded against each other. "Lightning Blade!" Andromon then fired a blade of energy from his arm. It hit AxeKnightmon but didn't cause much damage.
The dark knight Digimon scoffed. "Was that supposed to hurt?" he teased. He then spotted SaberLeomon charging at him from his position on the roof. As the beast Digimon leapt off the building at him, he simply extended his left arm out and managed to grab SaberLeomon by the throat before throwing him down to the ground with ease aiming him directly at Andromon, taking them both out temporally. Shakkoumon was the next to attempt an attack, but AxeKnightmon turned to face him head on and prepared to swing his twin spear to impale the DNA Digimon…
"Metal Wolf Claw!" MetalGarurumon sprayed his icy cold breath over AxeKnightmon's body as he was focused on TK and Cody's Digimon. The attack froze most of the dark knight's body, specifically his right arm and spear.
AxeKnightmon grunted as his attack was subdued, but it didn't take him long to break free from the ice. Almost immediately he burst free, causing a shower of ice crystals to rain down below before he immediately swung his spear in the opposite direction, taking out MetalGarurumon who had been charging towards him. As MetalGarurumon was thrown off balance, he then turned back to face Shakkoumon and blasted him out of the sky with an energy shot from the palm of his left hand. "If these are your best attacks then you are crazy to think you have a chance against our lord Grandracmon. You wouldn't last a second against him."
"He's got a point…" TK said reluctantly. "If our attacks aren't even leaving a scratch on AxeKnightmon how are we going to face up to Grandracmon?"
"We are a little limited here." Cody spoke up. "If we attack with full force we could cause more damage."
"You're right Cody," Matt agreed. "We need a more open battle ground… then he'll be able to see how powerful we really are."
"Pumpkinmon Power!"
"Huh?" AxeKnightmon looked up as a large shadow suddenly loomed over him. Before he had chance to register the familiar sight of the giant pumpkin that was floating above his head, it suddenly dropped out of the sky taking him with it. The giant pumpkin crashed into the ground below on a piece of grassed area at the edge of the water with AxeKnightmon still underneath it. Upon impact it exploded into a mass of mushy pulp.
Matt chuckled under his breath as he spotted Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon peering out from around the corner of the building with cheeky grins on their faces.
TK smiled, placing a hand on his brother's shoulder. "As much trouble as they are they do lend a helping hand now and then…" he said amusingly.
But their amusement was short lived as they heard an irritated roar from underneath the pumpkin pulp. The pulp began to move before AxeKnightmon blasted himself free, sending the mushy substance flying and splattering everywhere. The dark knight Digimon rose to his feet still covered in pulp. "I will not be made a fool of twice!" he dictated angrily, referring to the first time he had the giant pumpkin land on him. "Whose pathetic little trick is this?" he demanded.
Gotsumon grinned, stepping ahead of Pumpkinmon. "My turn…" he said playfully. "Earth Shaker!" He summoned a pillar made of rock which emerged from underground. It shot up right underneath AxeKnightmon, throwing him back up into the air.
"Now Shakkoumon!" MetalGarurumon ordered. "Metal Wolf Claw!"
"Justice Beam!"
Both Shakkoumon and MetalGarurumon's attacks homed in on AxeKnightmon who was currently defenceless in mid air from the momentum of Gotsumon's rock pillar. The attacks hit him, and the force sent him flying across the highway before he crash landed in the middle of the large sports field in the university campus. A little stunned from the onslaught of attacks, he tumbled to a stop on the grass before slumping in a heap…
.:Odaiba, Tokyo:.
Imperialdramon, still in fighter mode, flew over the highway and towards Decks Tokyo and the TV Station on route to Tokyo Bay. On the ground, Davis, Ken and the others were running to keep up with him, making their way along the empty roads, taking advantage of the deserted streets. They could see the explosions and smoke rising into the sky from the ongoing battle in the bay, unaware of what was actually happening.
"I hope the kids are okay!" Yolei thought aloud as they ran down the middle of the street.
"Imperialdramon!" Davis shouted, catching his partner's attention. "You go ahead, we'll catch up!"
"Right," Imperialdramon nodded before he quickened up his pace. He approached the monorail tracks that were elevated over the street and just as he was about to fly over it, all of a sudden something, or someone, fell down from above blocking his path. It happened so fast Imperialdramon couldn't see who it was who had fallen straight through the monorail tracks and crash into the middle of the intersection below in a heap of rubble and a cloud of thick dust. Imperialdramon immediately dropped to the ground taking up a defensive position in front of the others who had just arrived at the scene.
"What was that?" Silphymon wondered.
The dust soon began to clear, and the DigiDestined heard a disgruntled growl as the figure began to move. Yolei tensed up once the dust had cleared enough. "Daemon…" she gasped under her breath.
Mimi, still holding Palmon, glanced up at something that had caught her eye on top of the building opposite. "Look," she alerted the others quietly; all of a sudden feeling like she couldn't move.
It was Grandracmon. He was standing on the edge of the building, glaring down at Daemon below having just thrown him through the monorail tracks. The DigiDestined quickly took cover behind some large trees and bushes that were situated at the edge of the sidewalk, as their path was now blocked with no way of making it across the intersection without being seen by either of the two mega Digimon. "Haven't those two destroyed each other yet?" Davis grumbled as he peered through a gap in the trees.
"Let's just be thankful we now know Grandracmon hasn't returned to his castle and found our kids." Ken replied.
"It seems Daemon's had a makeover though…" Kari added, a little surprised to see the demon Digimon in his beast form.
Grandracmon leapt off of the building and landed heavily onto the intersection, causing more damage to the road as Daemon was just getting to his feet. "I've had enough of this game now Daemon. It's time to end this. I have more important things to attend to; such as hunting down those DigiDestined and destroying them."
Daemon chuckled as they began to slowly circle each other in the middle of the intersection. He was showing damage after recently being thrown around like a rag doll. "A little eager now aren't we since you learned your time is slowly running out…" he mocked.
"You may be right about the DigiDestined travelling to the Dark Area… but you and I both know how dangerous that place is. Do you seriously think they will survive long enough to make it all the way to my castle? Your foolish plan of dragging this fight out until I'm at my most vulnerable so you can take the advantage is futile."
"Your arrogance will be your ultimate downfall Grandracmon." Daemon warned as they stopped circling each other.
Grandracmon scoffed. "Azulongmon couldn't defeat me… one of the great Digimon Sovereigns. Do you really believe a bunch of humans can pull off what he couldn't? Once I'm through with you I'm going to finish those DigiDestined once and for all!" he declared. "Crimson Lightning!" he formed Myotismon's attack and flung it straight at Daemon, but the demon Digimon simply tore through it with his large clawed hand using his Slash Nail attack.
Davis gasped under his breath as they continued to watch. "That was… Myotismon's attack…"
"He must still have the ability to use those attacks…" Imperialdramon whispered.
Daemon continued to smirk at Grandracmon. "Nice try. It'll take more than an ultimate's attack to stop me. Not only do you underestimate the DigiDestined, you also underestimate me. If you are as powerful as you boast, you would have won this fight a long time ago-" he suddenly stopped what he was saying as he caught a glimpse of something move in the windows of an abandoned bus at the edge of the intersection just behind where Grandracmon was standing. It was the reflection of Imperialdramon amongst the trees. Daemon quickly spun around to look behind him, looking straight in their direction and immediately spotting Imperialdramon, and Davis peering through a gap in the bushes. "The DigiDestined!" he exclaimed, catching Grandracmon off guard. He stretched out his right arm and fired a blast of energy from his palm, obliterating the trees and forcing the DigiDestined to break cover out into the middle of the road. Daemon grinned, lowering his palm. "At last…" he muttered before launching himself towards them.
"No!" Grandracmon galloped forward as fast as he could and tackled Daemon from behind, causing both of them to tumble into the path of the DigiDestined who quickly split into two groups reaching the safety of the sidewalks. "The DigiDestined are mine to kill!" he growled as he scuffled with Daemon on the ground.
"Um… what do we do now?" Monzaemon asked as they watched the two mega Digimon resume their fight.
"I say we get outta here while we can." Silphymon replied, to which Yolei and Kari nodded in agreement.
"I second that!" Davis called out from across the street. "Let's go!"
The DigiDestined and Digimon quickly regrouped and began to run across the intersection towards the street next to Decks Tokyo that would lead them to the bay…
But as they were close to reaching the street, Daemon happened to spot them as he struggled against Grandracmon. "I don't think so… you're not getting away again…" he quickly dealt a powerful punch to Grandracmon to give him a few moments to unleash an attack. "Chaos Flare!" he created a tower of flames that manifested across the street, blocking the DigiDestineds' path. The flames rose as high as the buildings and spread out across the edge of the intersection.
Imperialdramon jumped and flew up in an attempt to fly over the flames, but the fire manipulated itself to wherever Imperialdramon moved to blocking his way no matter how high he flew. Silphymon tried to run down the main street that ran underneath the monorail tracks, but the flames manoeuvred themselves also blocking her path. Luckily the fire was containing itself and not setting fire to any of the nearby buildings.
"He's got us trapped…" Ken said, taking hold of his wife's hand, as the others all turned to watch Daemon and Grandracmon continue their fight.
"Oh great… now what do we do?" Davis groaned.
Grandracmon shoved Daemon, pinning him up against a nearby building. "I told you Daemon," he warned. "Don't interfere with my plans. I am the one who will destroy the DigiDestined."
Daemon simply chuckled, irritating Grandracmon more. "That will be a little difficult once I destroy you…" he said before he unleashed a powerful blast, which threw Grandracmon clear from him.
.:Tokyokaiyo University, Minato, Tokyo:.
AxeKnightmon grunted, pushing himself up from the ground. He looked up to see MetalGarurumon and Shakkoumon flying across the field towards him whilst SaberLeomon leapt over the fence from the highway whilst Andromon smashed his way through. AxeKnightmon narrowed his eyes as he spotted Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon seated on MetalGarurumon's back, specifically Pumpkinmon, realising he was the one responsible for dropping the giant pumpkin on him. With his eyes fixed on them he rose to his feet. "You may have had your fun but now it's my turn…" he fired an energy shot from his spear, blasting MetalGarurumon out of the sky.
Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon were thrown from his back, and they screamed as they tumbled onto the ground in a heap into the middle of a baseball field. Pumpkinmon groaned as he pushed himself up, but his face immediately lit up upon seeing some discarded baseball equipment a few yards away. "Hey let's play ball, Gotsumon!" he grinned mischievously.
They were unaware of their impending danger though as AxeKnightmon still had his focus on them. "Nobody makes a fool of me twice." He muttered under his breath. He raised his spear, pointing it directly at them preparing to fire a shot …
"I don't think so," SaberLeomon growled as he tore across the field at lightning speed. He roared as he leapt forward, catching AxeKnightmon's attention who briefly looked in his directly. He tackled the dark knight Digimon before AxeKnightmon knew what was happening, and they both tumbled to the ground. "Howling Crusher!" SaberLeomon raised his claws, but before he could slash them into AxeKnightmon, he was struck with the dark knight's spear; knocking him clear.
AxeKnightmon recomposed himself, throwing his cape back in frustration. Before he had chance to counter attack SaberLeomon, he was pelted by clay disks fired from Shakkoumon. He quickly spun his twin spear, creating a force field which vaporised the remaining disks that came his way. Once the attacked had stopped, he fired a powerful blast from his spear, taking out Shakkoumon.
"Gatling Attack!" Andromon opened up the machine guns in his chest; firing a powerful round of continuous energy shots.
They hit AxeKnightmon, who stumbled back losing his balance from the force of the blasts.
"Metal Wolf Claw!" Just as Andromon's attack ceased, MetalGarurumon fired all the missiles on his body which homed in on AxeKnightmon.
The dark knight Digimon was lost in a cloud of dust as the missiles exploded around him, just as Matt, TK and Cody arrived on the sports field. "Nice try," they heard AxeKnightmon chuckle. He swung his twin spear, releasing a shockwave that cleared the dust from the air and engulfed the entire field. "Now it's time to show you my power…" he warned. He was about to fire an attack at MetalGarurumon, but he was hit in the side of the head by something small and orange which exploded upon impact. As he tried to attack again he was then hit by another… and another… and another.
Matt, TK and Cody looked past AxeKnightmon to where Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon were still situated in the baseball field. Gotsumon was standing in the batter's box holding a baseball bat and hitting the small pumpkin bombs that Pumpkinmon was pitching to him.
"Nice shot Gotsumon!" Pumpkinmon praised before he threw another.
Gotsumon happily swung his bat, striking the pumpkin bomb with ease straight at AxeKnightmon.
AxeKnightmon, who now had his attention on them, was hit directly in the face and the bomb exploded. The tiny bomb wasn't powerful enough to even leave a mark, but it was serving its purpose of testing the dark knight's patience. He snarled under his breath, flinching as another bomb hit him. "It's time these little pests were exterminated…" he muttered to himself. He took off across the field towards them, gliding through the air and taking out MetalGarurumon, Shakkoumon and SaberLeomon who attempted to stop him.
"Guys, watch out!" TK shouted.
"Huh?" Pumpkinmon paused, lowering his arm as he was about to pitch another bomb. Both he and Gotsumon looked up to see AxeKnightmon heading straight for them. "Uh oh…" But he soon grinned a little mischievously. "Gotsumon… get ready for my special fast ball!" Still holding his pumpkin bomb, he quickly pitched it to Gotsumon who hit it as hard as he could.
AxeKnightmon snarled as he saw the bomb heading straight for him, but he knew it wasn't powerful enough to stop him so he continued on his path towards the two small Digimon, preparing to attack. But just as the bomb was about to hit him, it suddenly expanded into another giant pumpkin taking the dark knight Digimon completely by surprise. He had no time to react and had nowhere to go expect smashing straight into it, with the force knocking him to the ground amongst tons of pumpkin pulp.
Cody chuckled a little under his breath. "These two little guys certainly put some fun into these fights." He said.
Matt smirked. "Somehow I don't think AxeKnightmon sees it that way."
The remains of the pumpkin began to move as AxeKnightmon recovered from the attack. Suddenly there was a small explosion as he blasted his way out, and he slowly rose into the air. Dripping with pulp, his eyes were narrowly fixed on Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon. "You two little termites don't know when to stop do you?" he snapped. "Treason Vortex!" With one hand he began to spin his twin spear, opening up a vortex of darkness. The vortex then began to suck everything in its path.
The cheeky grins on Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon's faces soon disappeared when they felt themselves being pulled towards the vortex. They tried to scramble back but the vortex's power was too strong. In his panic, Gotsumon dropped the baseball bat which was swiftly sucked into the darkness, along with the rest of the baseball equipment.
AxeKnightmon watched, grinning satisfyingly to himself as he watched them struggle. From behind him, MetalGarurumon and Shakkoumon tried to stop him but he simply blasted them away with his other hand, shooting blasts of energy from his palm.
MetalGarurumon tumbled to the ground before looking up to see Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon were moments away from being pulled into the darkness. "No…" he gasped under his breath. But then something caught his eye on one of the University buildings next to the sports field. A dark figure appeared on the roof; someone he didn't quite recognise. "Huh?"
Just as Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon were about to be engulfed by the vortex, the figure stepped up to the edge of the roof, revealing himself to be Wendigomon. He then leapt off the roof into the direction of AxeKnightmon. "Koko Crusher!"
Everyone watched as Wendigomon slammed his fists into the ground, releasing an almighty shockwave that took out AxeKnightmon. The force knocked him off balance causing him to end his attack just in time and the vortex disappeared, thus saving Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon who both slumped to the ground in relief. AxeKnightmon cried out as he was thrown across the field and crashed into the metal fence, which stopped him from falling into the highway on the opposite side.
Gargomon appeared, bursting through a gap in the trees near to where Wendigomon had appeared. He landed on the grass and thrust his guns forward. "Gargo Pellets!"
AxeKnightmon, a little dazed from the previous attack was about to rise to his feet when he was pelted with the round of blasts from Gargomon.
TK turned his attention to where Gargomon and Wendigomon were both standing. "It's Willis!" He exclaimed happily as he spotted the blonde haired man run out onto the field.
"Hey!" Willis greeted as he ran over to where the three men were standing in the middle of the field. "Sorry we're a little late to the fight."
"Actually you were just in time." Cody smiled.
"Who is this guy? We saw him wandering the streets earlier." Willis said, motioning to AxeKnightmon.
"It's a long story," TK replied with a sigh. "But right now we could use a little help in defeating him."
Willis smiled. "No problem."
AxeKnightmon growled, finally getting to his feet. "So… more fools have decided to join the fight I see?" he commented taking a few steps forward.
SaberLeomon growled, appearing next to Matt. "He's really trying my patience…"
Andromon came running over with Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon sitting on his shoulders. "He's proving a tough opponent."
"We need to attack with everything we've got." MetalGarurumon said, landing next to SaberLeomon. "If we work together and combine our attacks we should be able to beat him. There's eight of us now, and only one of him."
AxeKnightmon smiled to himself as he watched the Digimon group together before charging across the field towards him. "This going to be fun," he chuckled to himself.
SaberLeomon and Wendigomon were the first to reach him. With a confident toss of his cape, AxeKnightmon dealt a swift punch to Wendigomon before swinging his Twin Spear and throwing SaberLeomon off him. Gotsumon fired his Rock Fist attack, hurling heavy rocks from his head. "Time to show off my batting skills…" AxeKnightmon commented before he swung his spear, easily batting the rocks away with one hitting Pumpkinmon. He then fired a blast from his palm, knocking Gotsumon back. He was suddenly then caught by surprise from behind by Gargomon firing his Gargo Pellets attack. In a flash, AxeKnightmon spun round and charged forward, swinging his Twin Spear taking out Gargomon.
MetalGarurumon, Andromon and Shakkoumon all fired their attacks at the same time. AxeKnightmon sliced his Twin Spear through Andromon's Lightning Blade attack, before he easily caught MetalGarurumon's chest missile in his left hand before crushing it to pieces. He then leapt up into the air dodging Shakkoumon's Justice Beam attack, which carried on its path and struck the fencing, exploding.
"This guy is good…" Willis commented.
Matt clenched his fists, feeling frustrated. "If we had Omnimon we wouldn't have a problem taking this guy down."
AxeKnightmon, now floating above them in the air, chuckled. "I bet you thought this would be a walk in the park didn't you DigiDestined? No matter how many times you attack I will simply fend them off. Just accept your fate and surrender to me."
MetalGarurumon growled, glaring up at him. "We'll never surrender to you." He barked before leaping up and charging towards the dark knight Digimon. "Metal Wolf Claw!" he attempted spewing his cold air attack, but AxeKnightmon sliced through it with his Twin Spear, causing it to turn into tiny ice crystals.
With all his strength, AxeKnightmon then swung his spear and struck MetalGarurumon. The force sent him crashing straight through the high netting that was around the edge of the baseball field and onto the road on the opposite side, smashing into the bridge in the middle of the highway.
"MetalGarurumon!" Matt exclaimed.
"You DigiDestined certainly are stubborn," AxeKnightmon continued to chuckle. He then turned around and floated across the field to where MetalGarurumon was lying amongst the damage to the bridge he had caused, preparing to attack from his spear. "I've had my fun now. It's time I put an end to you all; one by one..."
"Gotsumon, get me up there." SaberLeomon growled before taking off across the field towards AxeKnightmon.
"Huh?" Gotsumon was confused at first, but he soon caught on, and once SaberLeomon was close enough he unleashed his Earth Shaker attack. He summoned multiple rock pillars from underground with each one gradually rising in height. Using them as steps, SaberLeomon leapt from pillar to pillar, climbing high enough to reach AxeKnightmon.
"Hmm?" Hearing the noise behind him, AxeKnightmon looked over his shoulder and was met with SaberLeomon tackling him. In a scuffle, both Digimon fell to the ground, crashing through the other side of the high netting and tumbling across the street, just missing a passing car. SaberLeomon managed to regain his composure and skid to a halt on all fours, whilst AxeKnightmon was left slumped in a heap. The dark knight Digimon grunted as he slowly recovered, lifting himself a little off the ground. Still holding his weapon, he noticed there was a large crack in one of the spears as during the scuffle; SaberLeomon had managed to clamp his large fangs into it. With the damage hitting a nerve, AxeKnightmon was soon on his feet, and immediately turned to face the ancient beast Digimon. "You'll pay severely for that." He threatened motioning to the visible crack.
"Something tells me you'll be left vulnerable without that spear." MetalGarurumon commented as he appeared next to SaberLeomon, causing the dark night Digimon to scowl.
"Vulcan's Hammer!"
"Argh!" AxeKnightmon cried out in shock as his Twin Spear was suddenly thrown from his grasp as something heavy struck the back of his hand. It spun out of control high up into the air before gravity brought it back down and it became lodged on top of the highway bridge near to where MetalGarurumon had crashed earlier. He turned to look behind him to see Izzy's group standing at the opposite end of the street just as Zudomon reached up catching his hammer. For a split second, AxeKnightmon looked concerned as the DigiDestined had now doubled their advantage over him. "I cannot lose to you pathetic humans…" he muttered under his breath stubbornly. In a flash, he flew past MetalGarurumon and SaberLeomon retrieving his Twin Spear from the bridge. "No matter how many of your friends join this fight you will never defeat me!" he roared stubbornly.
BlackWarGreymon glided down just in front of AxeKnightmon. "I highly doubt that," he commented, catching the dark knight's attention. "We easily defeated Tactimon, and now it's your turn… Black Tornado!" BlackWarGreymon began to spin at tremendous speed before launching himself at AxeKnightmon.
AxeKnightmon tried to defend by raising his spear, but the attack was too powerful and blasted him off the bridge and into a nearby park on the opposite side. With BlackWarGreymon still pushing against him, he was thrown into the ground, sliding through the park and leaving a trial of destruction behind him. People in the park immediately scattered and ran for cover.
At this point the two groups had reached each other at the intersection underneath the bridge. "Izzy!" TK greeted with a smile as he, Matt, Cody and Willis left the University grounds and ran into the street. "We didn't except to see you guys here."
Orgemon scoffed, crossing his arms. "It didn't take us long to deal with Tactimon. It looks like we arrived just in time to bail you guys out." He commented, causing SaberLeomon to frown.
"I wouldn't act so brash in this fight Orgemon," SaberLeomon warned. "AxeKnightmon appears to be the toughest of the Nightmare Six."
"Ah, this will be a piece of cake," Orgemon retorted before he took off underneath the bridge towards the battle wielding his club.
SaberLeomon sighed before he turned to the others. "We need to destroy his spear. We suspect his defence will be weakened without it. Once his spear is gone he'll be left exposed to our attacks."
"Alright then, let's end this." Matt ordered.
Across the other side of the bridge in the park BlackWarGreymon watched from a distance as AxeKnightmon got to his feet; sporting some slight damage from the Black Tornado attack. The dark knight Digimon glanced at his left shoulder, noticing a small dent in his armour. "You are strong…" he commented, looking across to BlackWarGreymon. "I'm curious as to why a Digimon of your power and attribute is choosing to work with the DigiDestined."
"That is none of your concern." BlackWarGreymon replied darkly.
AxeKnightmon then glanced past the mega Digimon as he noticed Orgemon appear, taunting him by tapping his bone club in his left palm as he came to a stop just behind BlackWarGreymon. Soon, the rest of the Digimon began to appear either from underneath or on top of the bridge. "I must say your choice in army is questionable…"
"Yet we've managed to take out your friend Tactimon." BlackWarGreymon shot back calmly.
"And according to my DDS it looks like ChaosGallantmon has suffered the same fate." Izzy added with a smile holding his tablet.
"It looks like you're all by yourself AxeKnightmon," Matt declared. "Now why don't you accept your fate? Everyone, attack!" he ordered their Digimon, pointing straight at AxeKnightmon.
Despite having fifteen Digimon charging towards him, AxeKnightmon didn't seem fazed. Firstly, he managed to smack Orgemon away with his spear, before unleashing an almighty punch at Andromon. He then fired a powerful beam of energy from his palm taking out both Zudomon and Piximon.
"Gargo Pellets!"
"Koko Crusher!"
"Howling Crusher!"
"Snow Ball!"
But the pace of attacks began to quicken and AxeKnightmon couldn't keep his reflexes up. He began to take hits from the barrage of attacks and he was struggling to unleash his own.
"Wing Blade!"
"Horn Buster!"
"Lightning Blade!"
"Justice Beam!"
As the attacks kept on coming he could feel himself becoming more overwhelmed. "…. Enough!" after his frustration had risen to breaking point; AxeKnightmon managed to swing his Twin Spear. He unleashed a huge shockwave that engulfed the entire park and threw all the Digimon back to the outskirts of the battlefield to give him some breathing space.
BlackWarGreymon suddenly appeared right in front of him and began to attack using a barrage of punches and swipes with his claws; with his main focus being AxeKnightmon's twin spear. But every attempt was blocked by the dark knight as he showcased his skills and reflexes.
"Gargo Pellets!" Gargomon fired a short blast from his two guns which struck AxeKnightmon in the side of the face, causing him to flinch and lose his focus.
He was then dealt a powerful uppercut blow from BlackWarGreymon that threw him back. He crashed into the fountain that was situated in the middle of the park.
"Subzero Ice Punch!" Frigimon pounded his fist into the ground, causing an icy trail to move across the ground and reach the water in the fountain, freezing it solid on impact whilst AxeKnightmon was still standing in it.
Whilst the dark knight's feet were trapped in the frozen water, MegaKabuterimon released his Horn Buster attack. Although trapped in the ice, AxeKnightmon swung his spear and sliced through it, causing the attack to split in half and miss him either side before striking the park benches behind.
"It'll take more than a little ice to stop me," AxeKnightmon grunted. He thrust his spear down into the ice, smashing through it and causing it to break up into tiny pieces. But before he had chance to launch his own attack, he suddenly felt himself being lifted up high into the sky by his spear. He looked up to see Garudamon had grabbed hold of his spear using her feet and was carrying him higher and higher into the sky. AxeKnightmon sneered before he quickly spun his twin spear in a flash, causing Garudamon to loose her grip. In a split second, AxeKnightmon then swooped up and stabbed his spear into the side of Garudamon's body, releasing an electrical blast at the same time.
Garudamon wailed as the electric surged through her body. The attack had disabled her, and she fell from the sky crashing down into the side of the park; just missing the children's play area.
"Garudamon!" Sora shouted as she bolted across the park to her fallen partner.
AxeKnightmon landed back down on the ground, near to the fountain he had destroyed moments ago. "Would anybody else want to attempt their feeble attacks on me?" he mocked. He was met with silence at first as he looked around at all the Digimon scowling at him. "No? Then let's see how you fools like it in the vortex of darkness… Treason Vortex!" Like earlier, he began to spin his Twin Spear, reopening the vortex. He then turned and aimed the vortex at Sora and Garudamon…
Sora was currently knelt down beside Garudamon who was still unconscious. She watched as the vortex began to suck in everything in its path. At first it sucked up lighter objects such as trash cans and some picnic benches, but as the strength of the vortex increased it soon picked up large chunks of rubble from Garudamon's fall; and that's when Sora felt herself being pulled in… "Garudamon, come on wake up!" she exclaimed, grabbing hold of one of her partner's large claws.
"Sora, get outta there!" Izzy shouted out from the opposite side of the park.
As Sora continued to hold on as tight as she could to her partner, she then felt the vortex was starting to pull in Garudamon's as well…
Orgemon charged waving his club, but AxeKnightmon simply grabbed it his with free hand and threw Orgemon away as if he was a rag doll.
MetalGarurumon tried to pounce on the dark knight in an attempt to knock him off balance, but AxeKnightmon managed to fend him off.
"We need to destroy that spear!" Cody exclaimed.
"Leave that to me…" Shakkoumon announced.
As Garudamon and Sora were continuing to be pulled in by the vortex, Sora gasped as she noticed Garudamon begin to glow. "No, no, no… Garudamon wake up, keep it together-" The attack from AxeKnightmon had drained the ultimate's power so low she was unable to withhold her digivolution. She suddenly shrunk dedigivolving back to Biyomon.
"No, Sora!" TK cried out.
Sora grabbed hold of Biyomon and hugged her tightly as they began to be pulled in a lot faster now the weight of Garudamon had gone. The bearer of Love closed her eyes, but suddenly she hit something which stopped them in their tracks. Sora looked up to see Shakkoumon towering over them.
He had positioned himself in between Sora and Biyomon and AxeKnightmon and the vortex, just heavy enough not to be immediately pulled in. "You didn't like the ice… so why don't we turn up the heat… Justice Beam!" He fired his laser beams from his eyes, striking them in the ground at first before moving them along towards AxeKnightmon. Just as the beams reached him, Shakkoumon lifted them up, slicing them straight up the middle of the vortex. The extreme heat was enough to penetrate the vortex burning straight through the Twin Spear and striking AxeKnightmon in the face, knocking him back.
AxeKnightmon hit the ground, landing on his back as his vortex disappeared. His Twin Spear had been broken in half, and both pieces landed either side of him before one half was swiftly crushed by Wendigomon's fist, whilst the other was destroyed by Zudomon's hammer. AxeKnightmon gasped under his breath in disbelief as he watched his spear disintegrate. "No… how did you…?" A shadow then appeared over him, and he looked up to see BlackWarGreymon hovering just above him high up in the air.
"Earth Shaker!" Gotsumon summoned his rock pillar directly underneath AxeKnightmon. Mirroring his method from earlier, he forced the pillar up, throwing AxeKnightmon high up into the air just level with BlackWarGreymon.
"Your time is up AxeKnightmon… Black Tornado!" In a blink of an eye, BlackWarGreymon flew forward, and as AxeKnightmon was temporally suspended in midair defenceless, he spun his body and tore straight through the dark knight's body leaving a gaping hole in the aftermath.
It left AxeKnightmon paralyzed with shock as he remained in the air. He slowly looked down at his midsection, watching his data slowly corrode away.
"Let's make sure we finish this… Metal Wolf Claw!" MetalGarurumon fired all of the missiles on his body.
"Justice Beam!"
"Horn Buster!"
Shakkoumon and MegaKabuterimon also fired their attacks, whilst BlackWarGreymon finished off with his signature attack; "Terra Destroyer!"
All the attacks hit AxeKnightmon at once, and he was lost amongst a multitude of explosions and smoke. Once the smoke began to clear, he was gone…
Izzy looked down at his tablet, where he still had his DDS displaying. He watched as the dot on the map that represented AxeKnightmon disappeared. "Prodigious," he smiled as the Digimon gathered round. "That's all of them taken care of."
Joe cast a glance over the bearer of Knowledge's shoulder. "Except for Wisemon…" he commented, pointing to the dot in the Tokyo Bay area.
"Do you think the kids are okay?" Cody wondered.
Izzy pondered for a moment, looking at Wisemon's signature on his tablet. He then noticed Grandracmon and Daemon's signatures not far away near the Aqua City mall.
"Perhaps we should head over there. They may need our help." MegaKabuterimon suggested.
Matt nodded in agreement, just before he spotted Sora. "Sora!" he exclaimed running to meet her as she made her way back to the group holding Biyomon who was just waking up.
"It's alright, we're okay. Biyomon's just a little wiped out that's all." Sora reassured.
"Don't give us a fright like that again," TK said light heartedly. "Tai would kill us if he arrived back and found out something had happened to you."
Sora smiled somewhat, her mind suddenly casting to her husband and daughter. She then glanced over her shoulder to where the vortex had been. "That vortex of darkness… do you think… it was a portal to the Dark Area?" she thought aloud.
Izzy shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not entirely sure. It could have been a possibility. But there are so many different unknown areas throughout the Digital World who knows where that vortex would lead to."
"And we wouldn't risk anyone falling in there to find out either." Matt added.
"I know…" Sora said quietly. "It was just a thought…"
TK placed a hand on Sora's shoulder, sensing she was starting to worry about her family. "Hey, I'm sure they're fine."
"And now that the Nightmare Six are out of the way, once Tai and Dawn destroy Grandracmon's soul we can focus on destroying him once and for all." MetalGarurumon added.
.:Odaiba, Tokyo:.
The DigiDestined could only keep watching as the two mega Digimon continued to battle it out, still trapped by Daemon's tower of flames.
"We need to come up with a plan…" Ken spoke up, breaking the silence.
"But we can't escape…" Yolei replied. "No matter where we go these flames follow us everywhere."
"I mean we need a plan for when these two have finished their little scuffle." Ken clarified. "Face it, once that fight ends we'll be fighting whoever survives it. So instead of standing here doing nothing we might as well try and come up with a battle plan for when that time comes."
Davis nodded in agreement. "You're right. We need to be prepared."
Kari cast a glance across to the feuding mega Digimon. "We better come up with two plans. I can't even bet on who is going to win this."
"My money's on Grandracmon..." Meramon commented light heartedly.
"Flame Inferno!" With his outstretched palm, Daemon unleashed his high temperature hellfire upon Grandracmon.
"Crimson Mist!" Using one of MaloMyotismon's attacks, Grandracmon released a thick, red acidic mist from the two mouths on his waist. The mist engulfed Daemon's attack, burning it up before carrying on its path and surrounding the demon lord. Grandracmon took his opportunity to pounce whilst Daemon was temporally disabled and charged through the mist. He tackled Daemon and slammed him into the side of a building, smashing the windows either side in the process. "I've waited so long to finally take out my revenge on these humans… why is it after you cowered away for many years you show up now to interfere with my destiny?"
"I've also done my waiting," Daemon snapped back. "Years and years I spent waiting in that Dark Ocean for the opportunity to face the DigiDestined once again after they trapped me there… and now that time is here do you seriously expect me to sit back and allow you to have all the fun?"
Grandracmon growled as he tightened his grip. "Once I'm victorious I will be known all over the Digital World, and this world, as the Digimon who finally destroyed the DigiDestined; an honour I am not willing to share with the likes of you."
Daemon clenched his fist before dealing a powerful punch to Grandracmon, causing the beast Digimon to lose his grip and stumble back. "Then I guess there is only room for one Digimon in this world to take that crown… You may be known as the Vampire King but I'll be known as the king of both the Digital World and human world! Double Dust!" Daemon slammed his fist full of magic into the ground, causing magical electricity to tear through underground on a path towards Grandracmon. As the attack reached him, it exploded out from underground in a form of metal chains which then swiftly wrapped themselves around Grandracmon's legs and arms trapping him on the spot.
Grandracmon growled as he tried to free himself, but he was bound tightly by the chains. "Untie me you pathetic excuse for a Demon Lord!" he demanded.
Daemon grinned slyly, watching his nemesis struggle. "I've grown tired of waiting for the DigiDestined to find your weak spot. Instead I'm going to let you watch as I destroy the DigiDestined…" he teased. He then slowly turned his back on Grandracmon and began to walk towards the DigiDestined, dragging his longer arm along, allowing his claws to scrape across the ground.
The DigiDestined gasped and backed up as far as they possibly could in front of the tower of flames, whilst their Digimon positioned themselves in front defensively.
Daemon continued on, smiling as he could hear Grandracmon continue to struggle behind him. "I've waited years for this…" he grinned to himself, his attention focused on Imperialdramon. "Now it's time you pay for trapping me on that miserable beach…"
"Hey... everyone needs a vacation once in a while..." Davis wise-cracked.
"You won't be laughing once I'm through with you." Daemon threatened.
Grandracmon narrowed his eyes as he watched Daemon get closer and closer… Feeling his rage build up inside, he suddenly let out an almighty roar as his body began to glow a dark red. The energy inside his body built up and up until it suddenly exploded, unleashing a powerful shockwave that blew apart the chains holding him back.
Daemon flinched as the shockwave reached him, as did the DigiDestined. He turned his head to look behind to see Grandracmon now free from his chains, fists clenched and glaring directly at him with his body still surrounded by the dark red aura…
"Crimson Lightning!"
Before Daemon had chance to react, in a flash Grandracmon leapt forward and unleashed Myotismon's signature attack. But as he did, he also powered up all the other attacks in his arsenal; combining them into the Crimson Lightning and making it extremely powerful and unstoppable. The lightning attack struck Daemon in a blink of an eye, impaling him straight through his midsection. Daemon gasped as his body froze from the shock as the attack tore through him.
The DigiDestined watched in awe as Grandracmon withdrew his attack, revealing the hole now left in Daemon's body. Mimi gasped. "Where did that come from?"
Daemon stumbled slightly, before he fell back against the ground; his data slowly starting to disappear from his midsection outwards. He opened his eyes to see Grandracmon now standing over him. "You'll regret this Grandracmon…" he warned, sounding weak. "The rest of the Demon Lords will now be after you for this… that is… if the DigiDestined don't destroy you first…." He managed to say before he slowly faded away as his data broke apart completely…
Grandracmon grunted. "I seriously doubt that."
With Daemon now destroyed, the tower of flames slowly disintegrated before disappearing completely. The DigiDestined remained still and quiet. They were still a little stunned from how quickly and easily Grandracmon had taken out Daemon with one blow… and they now knew with Daemon gone, Grandracmon's focus would now be on them.
"I wouldn't try to run if I were you…" Grandracmon said with a sly grin as he noticed the DigiDestined glance over their shoulders down the street to where they had originally intended to go. "There is no place to hide now."
.:Dark Area, Digital World:.
After leaving the wastelands and the graveyards behind, WarGreymon and VictoryGreymon were gliding high above the Evil Forest. The forest covered a vast section of the Dark Area and could be seen stretching for miles. The terrain was now covered in hills and mountains, some of which were covered by the forest.
Dawn glanced to her right, noticing the figure of a dark Digimon prowling up the side of one of the smaller mountains. It stopped and stared, seemingly noticing them as they flew by. "So Puppetmon said Grandracmon's castle was hidden away in the mountains… he could have been more specific; there are tons of mountains here!" she groaned.
"Remember what the prophecy said," VictoryGreymon replied. "It mentioned in the mist of darkness. That could be another clue to where his castle is."
"He's right," Tai called over from where WarGreymon was flying beside them. "Look ahead; it looks a little misty in the distance. I think that's where we need to go."
Dawn pulled out her mini telescope and looked ahead into the distance. Beyond the current landscape there was a faint mist, where she could just make out more mountains. "Oh yeah… I guess that's a good place if you're an evil Digimon who wants to make your castle unreachable."
WarGreymon cast a glance over his shoulder as they continued to fly over the forest. The wastelands were almost out of sight in the distance behind them. "All this time I had no idea all of this existed…" he said.
Tai looked up at the endless darkness above them. "It feels strange to think the Digital World is up there above us."
Dawn also glanced behind at the distant wastelands. "Hey Dad…" she spoke up, suddenly sounding a little sombre. "Do you think... Centarumon would have been in those graveyards back there?"
"Huh?"
"He was Vajramon X when we destroyed him, remember?" Dawn said. "He had been infected with the X Antibody and turned bad… and didn't those Digimon say all bad Digimon are imprisoned in the graveyard here instead of being reborn?"
"Well, maybe Anubismon saw who he truly was and changed his data back and sent him to Primary Village."
"I hope so…" Dawn said with a sigh. "He doesn't deserve to be trapped down here forever."
Suddenly something fell from high above, striking WarGreymon. The force of whatever it was knocked WarGreymon out of the sky and sent him and Tai crashing down to the ground below.
"Dad!" Dawn shouted in surprise as she watched her father and WarGreymon disappear from view.
VictoryGreymon turned around in the air and began to fly down to where they had fallen through the trees into the forest below. But suddenly more objects began to fall from high above them. "Watch out!" he exclaimed, jumping back in the air and protecting Dawn with his body as pieces of rubble fell from above. He was forced back a little as he continued to dodge the fallen debris, taking him away from where WarGreymon and Tai had crashed.
"What's going on?" Dawn wondered.
But before VictoryGreymon could answer, another large piece of rock suddenly fell right on top of them, knocking them too out of the sky. Dawn screamed as they fell down, crashing through the foliage of the trees. It felt as if they hit every branch on the way down. VictoryGreymon lost his grip on Dawn, and she tumbled through the remaining branches before hitting the ground, slumping in a heap before VictoryGreymon crashed beside her.
Further back in the forest, Tai groaned as he pushed himself up a little off the ground. He was a little dazed at first from the fall, but once his vision had focused he looked ahead and noticed the large rock that had hit them laying amongst some dead bushes. A little further beyond the rock looked like an upside down picnic bench. "… What?" Tai muttered to himself a little confused. What would a picnic bench be doing in the Dark Area?
"Tai, are you alright?"
Tai looked over his shoulder to see WarGreymon approaching him. "Yeah, I'm fine." He said, cringing a little as he got to his feet. "What the hell happened there?" he asked, rubbing his head.
"I have no idea," WarGreymon replied.
As Tai and WarGreymon took a moment to recover they didn't notice a set of eyes, one red and one green, watching them from high up in one of the trees. The small figure grinned mischievously to himself as he crouched down on the branch he was standing on as he continued to spy on them.
His grin grew wider, showing off his white teeth. "Time for the fun to begin…" he said quietly to himself, raising his palms up; revealing them to have an eye in each one…
To be continued…
