Chapter 4 Genin Making

Kakashi POV Noon

Looking at the blonde boy who threatened to eat the bentos I made specifically for this was a bit out as I told them that they would only be able to eat if they got the bells or they fail and I gave them another chance and yet here I am looking at these genin. They haven't even tried working together Naruto just wants to prove he's not weak by not even going for a bell but to punch me after Asuma brought about that Genin that was able to land a solid blow on him but from what I heard he was the only 1 spot above dead last…why couldn't I have a less troublesome team a Eediot, Fangirl and Avenger as the genin I am testing though only really Sasuke manage to just touch one though I wasn't that serious.

Slamming my fist on his head right before he could open it as he dropped it a grabbed it and flipped the landing to grab it and he just stared shocked at me. "Eh Kakashi-Sensei I wasn't going to eat the lunch I was just-" I grab Naruto by his jumpsuit and tie him up as the alarm rings and I see Sasuke followed by Sakura approaching.

Putting the lunches on the floor as Sakura and Sasuke sat down by the other wooden posts both next to the tied up Naruto. I heard Naruto stomach growl as I cross my arms around my chest "uh oh Stomachs growling huh that's to bad… though I have decided that I won't send you guys back to the Academy." I heard Naruto start ti laugh and Sakura do a victory cheer though I wasn't finished "instead you'll be dropped out of the program entirely." At that I saw Sasuke approaching me so in a quick pickup of dust on the ground I sat on Sasuke and him arm to restrain him.

"Get off of Sasuke!" Sakura yelled but I didn't bother giving her the time of day as I looked at them I sighed "why do you think we put you on teams?" They all quieted down as they looked at me and didn't respond.

"Teamwork it's teamwork." At that all there eyes widen as I grabbed a kunai from my pouch and aim at Sasuke throat.

"Sakura…Kill Naruto or Sasuke dies.." she just looked on in complete wonder as she looked at Naruto who was begging her not too as Sasuke was just quietly looking at the Kunai at his neck.

"That's what happens when your on a mission." I lifted the kunai and put it back.

"The enemy captured one of you and you have to make an decision and there someone always dead…" I looked away from there as I looked at the memorial stone and I turned my head to them.

"I'll give you another chance there's lunch and Sakura and Sasuke don't feed Naruto and if you do you're instantly going back to Academy…I make the rules" I perform a body flicker as i proofed just outside of the clearing.

They who in case you don't know is Sasuke and Sakura eating from there bento as Naruto just stood there trying to act tough.

'Hmm I wonder if I should use a Shadow Clone and force them to attack me maybe that will help them with teamwork…no that I don't think beating them until they learn it is the best way.' As my mind was observing I saw Sasuke hold out his lunch to Naruto and so did Sakura. I smiled maybe they do get it even if a made a rule they still help eachother ' those who break the rules are scum but those who would abandon a comrade is worse than scum.' At that I body flickered back into the field in front of them as they all stood on guard…except Naruto because he was tied to hell up.

"You broke the rules and get ready for the consequences." Let's see if they gets scared.

"Sorry but I'll help my teammates even if it's Naruto." Sasuke said as he stared down at me and sliced the ropes open as Naruto got into a stance and Sakura nodded looking more intent.

Silence ensued as non wanted to waver until a gave them a eye smile.

"You pass." They just couldn't understand really what or why I said it but they will.

"Yes those who break the rules are scum, the ones who abandon a comrade is even worse than scum." They all looked at me before dropping on the floor on there butts other than Sasuke who was on one knee. I tilted my head confused.

"Oh I thought I was going to die." I saw Sakura grab her heart…oh I let out a bit of killing intent didn't I.

"We'll Team 7 let me take you on an actual lunch." I nodded as Naruto exploded from the ground.

"Ichiraku ramen!" I just sweatdrop as I turn to the others who were slowly following.

Making it to Ichiraku Ramen it was just like a stand made to have people eat there although I have eaten here I haven't in about a couple years which were my old team and Sensei were still here.

We take our orders from Teuchi and Ayame bring the older man's daughter or granddaughter she looked very young. "Hey Naruto-Kun are these you're teammates." I heard the brown haired woman say to Naruto as she leaned across her side of the stand.

"Yea these are my teammates and Sensei." I raised my hand in a wave as Sasuke and Sakura just introduced themselves.

"Hey Kurenai-Sensei this place seems alright." I heard a young brash young man walk into the stand and look at all of us as a red eyed woman came inside and spotted me as the genin on both teams stared at eachother.

"Kurenai it's fancy seeing you here." I gave her an eye smile though she took a look at the genin and widened her eyes a bit.

"Are these your students." She asked me as she turned back to me. I nodded and she smiled while looking at me.

"Well it's good you at least passed a team." Kurenai said which peaked Naruto's interest.

"What do you mean lady." Though I saw Sasuke wanting to say the same he stayed quiet and so did Sakura.

"Well Kakashi really fails all his students i think you're the first genin he passed." At that they looked at me positively shocked.

"Well you all did surprise especially at the end, though Naruto I did remember you saying you would demolish me if it remember correctly." I raised my finger to my chin as everyone there other than the Teuchi and Ayame stopped to hear.

"H-Hey I would have if you did use the substitution Jutsu." He said heatedly as he pointed at me.

"When was this." I heard Kurenai as I turned to her.

"Well Asuma came into report about how is genin we're so good that they managed to dispel one of his clones in less than a minute and then proceed to land an actual attack on the man…if I remember correctly it was Shikamaru." With that I saw both Sasuke and Sakura raise there eyebrows. I mean why wouldn't they they did see Naruto's clones get demolished but then again they don't know the specifics of the jutsu.

"SMH it's not cool you weren't even serious while Shikamaru did it while his Sensei was!" I saw Naruto grab at his hair as Sasuke just gripped his hand a bit tighter than they were.

Finishing up and leaving a pretty hefty bill (Naruto) I did want to read some more but I also had to report back to Lord Hokage so I said my goodbyes to my little genin.

"Shikamaru" POV

Climbing back down the tree with my chakra until I reached the bottom to a shocked team. I did have a sheepish expression and rubbed the back of my head but Asuma-Sensei proceeded to ask me something.

"Did your dad teach you that already." It was more surprise really he really didn't think anyone trained there kids with the tree walking exercise but he is wrong.

"Nah I just saw some people do it and I tried it for the first time though I heard some people can do it without thinking so I might try to work on that." With that I saw Asuma-Sensei look at the others and shrug.

"I guess we're learning some tree walking." Asuma-Sensei looked at them as they nodded and Asuma-Sensei nodded back as he lead them to other trees comparable size with the one I claimed.

I continued to run and down the tree I mean I see Asuma-Sensei walk off probably going out to turn in our mission's and maybe h could check the rewards for me I wonder how much but it can't be much we're are doing odd jobs. I wonder if I can ask Asuma-Sensei for weight training.

Running up and down the tree a couple of time like 5-6 times burned right through little below half my chakra reserves but I seem to have gotten a better grasp at it and I drop down and look at Choji and Ino. Choji fell down from his tree from adding too little Chakra and Ink seems to be up on top of the tree.

"Oh Choji." I asked for Choji's attention as he looked at me. 'I should give him a hint.'

"If you slip from the tree your not adding enough Chakra but if you bust the bark you added to much and you have to use a constant stream of Chakra not like a single burst." I saw Choji nodded and he rushed at the tree and easily rush past his previous high point and make it to one of the higher branches before falling.

"Choji!" I ran closer only for a puff of smoke to appear and catch Choji. It was…Kakashi-Sensei. What is he doing here.

"Hey thank you for saving my friend." He jumped down to the ground and landed gracefully setting Choji down I see Ino come into my view walking up seeing what's up.

"Shikamaru did something happen…oh who's that?" She saw Kakashi-Sensei as he gave us a eye smile.

"Well I don't know if you guys mind if intrude in you or training but I wanted to ask Asuma if he wanted both our teams train together." Kakashi-Sensei asked us though we didn't really know what Asuma-Sensei would really say.

"Why's that Kakashi-Sensei?" I rubbed the back of my head I'm honestly I'm surprised he's here and Asuma-Sensei isn't.

"Well I did hear Asuma start talking about you guys and your teamwork and I wanted to show my team about teamwork at people there level." Kakashi-Sensei really asked though when is Asuma-Sensei coming back.

"Well Asuma-Sensei should be coming back in a couple of minutes so I don't know if you want to stay or go." I told him and he nodded "I'll just weight here then." Kakashi-Sensei grabbed his book from his pouch and started to open it until I interrupted him.

"Is that the second one?" I asked I didn't know which was the third one I only saw it briefly in the anime as I barely watched Shippuden like I watched original Naruto. I saw Kakashi-Sensei's eyes widen and if that mask was off his face you could see a smirk appear.

"Why yes it is why do you ask?" I just pulled out my own book and held it out to him as he read the title and started to giggle.

"You're Shikamaru right?" At that my eyes widen a bit why did Kakashi-Sensei know of me though I did nodding at him.

"Can you switch places with one person on my team?" He added and it was a bit desperate the way he said it but I in myself was shocked that Kakashi Harare wanted me to be his genin.

"Hey Shikamaru is staying on Team 10 With Us!" Ino unexpectedly yelled which was backed up by Choji's yell.

"It was only a joke…kind off." Kakashi-Sensei sweat dropped 'eh there teamwork is what I can tell really good already as they didn't want me to take Shikamaru for Sasuke like not even that Ino girl as Sakura said had affection for Sasuke was the one to pipe up first. There loyal and have faith in eachother to take care of eachother's weaknesses…and my teams just a bunch of people good by themselves but have nothing of teamwork. Even if they all fought I don't my genin would win with what I heard of Shikamaru personally he might by himself take down Sasuke and Sakura and if Naruto doesn't flood the field with clones then there teamwork would surely beat them handling it with ease the rookie and Kunoichi of the year and someone with the amount of Naruto's chakra." Kakashi was caught in his thoughts when I asked him a question.

"Kakashi-Sensei is there by chance that can you help us train." I said it bashfully I really didn't feel like asking as well I did feel a bit embarrassed even though I shouldn't. Kakashi-Sensei peered over his book and gave us an answer.

"Hmm from when I caught Choji I saw you guys do the tree walking exercise if you completed that and gotten the hang of that and could reach the top of the tree, I could perhaps show you the water walking exercise." I quickly nodded and ran up the previous tree I had with some more force and made it to the top and down. Kakashi-Sensei did let out a sweat drop but ehh I wanted to try water walking. At that and Ino quickly doing it brought Choji to do it in one go as well.

"Ehh I didn't think you guys would do it that easily." We've been her for like 20 minutes and Ino has better Chakra Control only second to Sakura.

"Alright follow me." Kakashi-Sensei made a Shadow Clone and led us towards a nearby river.

I was wet oh so incredibly wet…damn it the water walking was harder especially for having to compensate for the changes in waves though we've been at it for 30 minutes the longest I gone is 30 seconds but I mean it took Sasuke and Naruto a day for tree so I'm still doing pretty good. I swim back to shore where is Ino stopping as she exhausted her reserves and while I was on my last legs myself I still wanted to try but was stopped by Kakashi-Sensei. "With more tries you get better but sometimes retreating and taking a closer look will be more helpful plus your about to run out of Chakra." I stop and look at him and I sit and Choji came from the river as well and sat down as well.

"Working and depleting your Chakra makes you be able to gain more like Chakra is like a muscle you work at it and it gets stronger." I smiled and everyone nodded.

"Well we should get back now to not upset Asuma." And with that we walked back to our original spot in order to see Asuma-Sensei barely arrive and the clone poof out of existence. I pull out my book and start reading it and walk into a tree as I saw Kakashi-Sensei expertly dodged the shit out of the tree while not even looking ahead… 'How the Hell! How can he do that.' My mouth made an unusual noise at the man as Ino and Choji turned back at me but I only smiled akwardly and continue to walk and hit tree until the clearing with Asuma-Sensei and the money pouches.

"Hmm you guys are wet oh Kakashi didn't see you there, What did you need." Asuma-Sensei had an eyebrow up in surprise in seeing the masked Jonin.

"I was going to ask if my team and your team have a joint training session." At that Asuma-Sensei eyebrows rose again.

"Why's that."

"Well my kids do need help with Teamwork so seeing a team that overall ranked lower in the academy completely school them in a 3 against 3 I think it's going to get through there skulls that Teamwork is important plus I'm pretty I tested in your genin." We all rose our eyebrows at the surprise at Kakashi-Sensei coming to that conclusion but Asuma-Sensei being himself chose to show off his team…heh of course he did… We saw Kakashi-Sensei walk away with his book in hand but I shouted at him.

"Hey Kakashi-Sensei do you mind teaching me tomorrow something!" He looked back at me and shrugged is shoulder and walked off.

"I can teach you ya know." He looked indignantly at me. I sweat drop and point to the fading Kakashi who dodge a tree while not letting his eyes leave his book.

"Hey I can do that easy see give me the book." Asuma-Sensei asked and I threw him the book and he creaked it open and proceeded to walk straight into a tree.

I covered my face in embarrassment and let out a chuckle as both Choji and Ino ended at the floor dying of laughter as Asuma-Sensei started shouting curses about trees and Kakashi-Sensei.

Arriving at one of the Training fields located outside of the Village with the notorious polls and memorial stone as we see Kakashi-Sensei talking to his genin. They didn't spot us so Asuma-Sensei decided to whistle at him. "Oi Kakashi." At the call of his name Kakashi-Sensei turned and gave us a eye smile while the genin just looked spectacle except Sakura.

"What's Ino-Pig doing here." She glared at Ino but she didn't give her the time of day.

'Oh normally she would be all over Sasuke but she's keeping some distance. Maybe she's actually trying to be a better Shinobi. I smile at my friends to even ignore her own crush for her goals definitely a step in the right direction for her I mean why does she like him.

"Why are they here?" Sasuke asked rudely but I just raised my eyebrow at him he was acting really harsh.

"Well I was going to have you guys spat each other presumably 1 on 1 then after that we'd go as teams." At the clap Kakashi-Sensei did Sasuke looked at us and smirked and so did Naruto.

"Right who's going up first you guys pick." Asuma and Kakashi-Sensei seemed to be in agreement as we saw Naruto step up first. I looked at Ino and Choji and gave the a look and Choji stepped up.

"You sure about this Choji." I saw him nodding his head and we backed away as we watched on the sidelines next to our respective Jonin-Sensei.

"Alright you two this will be a battle Jutsu's and weapons are allowed, no killing and when the opponent yields or we call the match, you win." Just as that they took a second to size each other up until Naruto ran straight at Choji straight up…. He was punched by an enlarged fist sending him skidding on the floor as Choji kept the final hand sign up and he let the arm shrink back to normal size. We all saw Naruto get back up after shaking his head and getting some dirt off he did a cross sign with his fingers and summoned about 20 Shadow Clones.

The Naruto's charged at Choji as he just looked on as he did more hand signs as the Naruto's jumped planing to attack him from the sky but at that moment Choji enlarged his arm and slapped 10 clones dispelling them and then slamming his hand on another 5 clones as a puff of smoke blocked Choji's vision. At this Choji deciding to act defensively span around with his enlarged fist smacking the 6 Naruto's sneaking on all sides trying to attack him at all sides. The rest of the clones dispel as Naruto was thrown to the ground again as Kakashi-Sensei raised his arm to signal the end of the match. "First win goes to Team 10" Kakashi gave an eye smile to Choji as he reduced the size of his fist.

"Way to show em Choji." I yell to my friend and he just pulls a flexing pose as Ino laughs at the silliness while I chuckle.

"But Kakashi-Sensei I can keep Goi-" Kakashi-Sensei cut Naruto off. "I know you can keep going Naruto but this isn't your only fight and yet I know you took two big hits and I know you need to recover from that and flooding the field with clones isn't going to help you with fighting someone like Choji." At that Naruto looked down a bit disappointed in himself.

"Way to go dobe." Sasuke Muttered and Sakura didn't bother speaking.

"Alright who's next up." At the call I saw Ino take a step forward at Asuma-Sensei calling someone else and Sakura also stepped up.

"I'm going to show how much better I am then you to Sasuke-Kun." Sakura said as Jno didn't bother responding the way she normally would. As she just smacked her tongue.

"Ready" Kakashi-Sensei asked both girls and they both nodded and Kakashi-Sensei raised his arm then pulled down. "Go" at that Ino grabbed a kunai from her pouch and throw it to Sakura who deflected it with her own before throwing her own with Ino barely dodging it as it scratched her cheek as she looked at the oncoming Sakura who got ready with a wide haymaker.

'Sakura's strong but she's wide open for counters and is slower than me now because of my training." Ino read the fist sailing past her face as she sidestepped her and stomped on Sakura's thigh making her kneel on one leg as the other tried to pull away but wasn't quick eneough as there was a kunai at her neck signaling the end of the battle.

"Second win goes to Team 10" Kakashi finished as Ino pulled the kunai away from her throat and put it back in her pouch and collecting the previous thrown kunai she returned back to her teams side.

"Nice Job Ino and you didn't waste any Chakra." I smirked at her and she smirked back.

"You know I was thinking of what you said at training and the day we were assigned as Team 10 and I came to understand that I was doing wasn't what I wanted. I just want Daddy to be proud that I'm his daughter." I saw Ino as she smiled as she said the last part in a whisper for hopefully no one would hear but I did but I wasn't going to bring it up she just seems to be in high gear now.

"Did you want a chip?" I turned to Choji who offered me a chip as he had opened his first potato chip bag today. I shrug and grab the chip munching on it as Kakashi-Sensei called on me and Sasuke to the field. I heard Sasuke exhale rather forcefully most likely at his teammates but he walked with his hands in his pockets.

We stood across from each other as i sized up Sasuke as he just looked intently at me. He thought this would be like the Academy…but it wasn't.

"Ready." I nodded towards Kakashi-Sensei as Sasuke "Hn" confirmed it as Kakashi-Sensei waited for a sec and propped his hand down saying "Start"

Me and Sasuke started to run at each other as I filled my feet with Chakra as I noticed I was faster hmm okay. Throwing a feint at Sasuke which he dodged and sent a counter fist to which I caught and kicked him away. I jumped back as Sasuke looked more ready to hurt me as he ran threw hand sign's of a Fireball Jutsu. Doing the hand signs for a Substitution jutsu myself I did the last hand sign as Sasuke yelled the name of his attack. "Fire style: FireBall Jutsu!" As the fire nearly hit me I replaced myself with one of the logs by the memorial stone as Sasuke shot a stream of fire opposed to the blast of fire keeping him firing for a couple extra seconds.

'Uh I might as well." I ran at Sasuke behind him going through the hand signs for the Shadow Imatation Jutsu as I kept the shadow under me as Sasuke quickly turned around hearing the foot steps as I jumped and delivered a strong right fist that clapped with the impact with his palm as the shadows stretched to Sasuke as I jumped back Sasuke imitated and Sasuke looked down to find himself in the shadow.

Sasuke looked back up with a glare to me as I smirked to him as I rushed for a bomb gag in my pouch. "What are doing!" Sasuke yelled at me as I looked at him and smiled as I threw the bomb tag next to him and all Sasuke did was grasp at air and throw nothing. I held the seal of confirmation of the bomb tag but didn't fuel it with Chakra as Sasuke was sweating bullets.

"Yield or I activate the bomb tag." I said as I could deactivate my shadow to keep myself from the damage and still keep Sasuke long enough to get hit with the Bomb tag.

"Third win goes to Team 10." Kakashi said as I looked at Kakashi-Sensei and so did Sasuke mimicking me. I deactivated my shadow and went for my bomb tag that I got from the clan's armory which I found yesterday when I went home the first time.

"You cheated! You could never beat Sasuke-" I sweatdrop at Sakura but before long Ino interrupted her "Shut Up Forehead." At that Sakura looked shocked at Ino before she gave a glare at her.

"Shikamaru just beat Sasuke without taking or landing a blow in like 3 minutes can't you see that there are better people than Sasuke and if you're only here to play as Sasuke's fangirl then quit being a Shinobi already because your all going to die on a mission with Naruto and Sasuke having to pick up on your weakness it'll become to much." Ino yelled at her as Sakura's eyes widened and went hollow as she looked at the ground animatedly.

"Hey don't yell at Sakura-Chan like that! She's an amazing Ninja!-" Naruto tried to retort but was cut off by Ino.

"Yea Top Kunoichi of the year just got beaten by someone below her in almost every category how an amazing Shinobi!" Ino said as she retorted sarcastically. Naruto grit his teeth as Sakura clenched her fists.

"Alright! Quite after this were done for the day." Asuma-Sensei sighed at them there was growing tension between the two teams and he needed to derail them. I grabbed a hold of Ino shoulder as I shook her and she turned to me and I moved my head side to side and her eyes widened a little. "You can't just say things like that especially mocking her it's not very…you."

"Alright now for the last fight Team 10 vs Team 7 get ready on the field." At that we all spread out on the field.

Getting a bit closer to Ino and Choji before I told them my plan in a whisper. "Can you guys hold them for like a minute while I lay down Kunai that connect to me in a circle filling in the entire circle in Shadows." At that I got a smile from Ino and a thumbs up from Choji. "Alright"

"Hey Sasuke-kun what's the plan going to be." Sakura asked hopefully until Sasuke just smacked his lips.

"I go for Shikamaru if you two can hold Choji and Ino that'll give me time to reach Shikamaru a lesson and beat the other two." At that Naruto pointed at Sasuke outraged.

"The hell do you mean I can beat Choji believe it!" Naruto yelled as Sakura looked down. 'Does he…even care…'

"Ready." Kakashi-Sensei said as both our teams looked at each other then I pulled my mask up and took off the hair tie and putting it in my pocket then we all looked at Kakashi-Sensei. Then at that Asuma-Sensei grabbed a kunai from his pouch and threw it up " go when the kunai hits the floor"

When the kunai hit the floor I quickly did the hand signs for the Shadow Imitation Jutsu and grabbed two Kunai's and stuck it in the ground where I was and threw one to Ino's right marking it with my shadows chakra. I ran forward grabbing a couple more kunai as I threw another one on the ground and I turn to see Sasuke running towards me but was cut off when Choji's enlarged fist came into contact a couple feet ahead of Sasuke. "Go Shikamaru! I'll hold them both" at the call I ran and stuck about estimate of 40% of the circle as Naruto sent a couple shadow clones after me which I unloaded with shurikens and they dispelled. I took a look at Choji who was keeping distance with both Sasuke and Naruto but Choji was slowing down a bit. I turn my attention real quick to Ino who in the end managed to declare again in Sakura's body that she quits. "Sakura Haruno of Team 7 is out." Asuma-Sensei announced.

Ino didn't stop there but took notice of the Naruto Shadow Clones and threw them at them when they looked over at Sakura sitting on the floor damaged.

'Alright can I throw the rest in…ehh fuck it' throwing all the kunai's I needed and getting stuck on the ground I activated the shadows in all them and made a Shadow circle like Shikaidai from Boruto.

It captured everyone even Sakura who was out, Ino and Choji as they looked at me and so did all the Naruto clones and Sasuke who glared. Releasing both Ino and Choji who quickly stepped to my side and grab two bomb tags from my pouch and throw them next to the real Naruto and Sasuke the match was declared over.

"Fourth Win to Team 10, Team 10 4-0 Team 7" I let go of Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura as we walk back to Asuma-Sensei's side as Kakashi-Sensei looked a bit unknowingly at his genin. I pulled up my hair and lowered my mask to let it rest at my neck.

"Don't let this dishearten you this is just how much you can grow and more." Kakashi-Sensei tried saying to try to bring his cute little students back to the way they are though that only got him a glare from both Naruto and Sasuke and Sakura not even bothering to look at him.

"Alright Team 10 you're dismissed were not meeting up tomorrow but the next day." Asuma-Sensei said as both Ino and Choji raised there eyebrows my face had a smirk.

"What are going on a date with Kurenai-Sensei." I laughed at his reaction to normal person to fish out of water.

"Dumb brat." Asuma-Sensei turned his back and started to walk away as Ino had a malicious smile on her face.

"Tell Kurenai-Sensei we said Hi!" At that we could here Asuma-Sensei cursing at us as we all laughed and Kakashi-Sensei gave off a little chuckle.

"Well I'll see you kids later." Kakashi-Sensei then exploded in a puff of smoke. Leaving us in an awkward situation I just turned and brought my book out I walked home and I waved them goodbye.

I planned on going home and I did reach home and when I walked inside my home I did see both of my parents inside sitting on the sofa in the living room.

"Oh Shikamaru aren't you home a little early." My Mom asked as I looked at my Dad or Shikamaru who looked quizzical at me.

"Your team trained with Kakashi's team and things ended unwell from what you told me this morning." Yes I indeed tell Dad I was going with my team against Kakashi's team.

"Well in terms of getting better I did get a bit better by trying out something I had in mind but I did see the others get a bit angry of how they did." Dad did a hmm and pinched at his chin with his fingers.

"Hey by chance could you train me if you have nothing to do today." I ask while it was fresh on my brain as he looked at me and then at Mom who looked strict and he let out a sigh.

"Well what did you need." He said as he got up and led me to the backyard of the home. "Well I was hoping to try to master Shadow Imatation Jutsu and try to not use any handsigns to activate the shadow and by chance learn more of the clans jutsu." I saw my old man's eyes widen as he looked at me.

"What brought this change about I could remember you moaning about not wanting to be a shinobi because all you had to do." I that a blank a bit but tried to retort and something popped in my head.

"Well I did hear someone story about being a lazy guy and having been to weak and dragging is team down they got killed to save him while he stayed weak and became depressed cursing his laziness… I know being the way I was I could easily turn to that." I looked down as my Dads eyes widen and let out an understanding grunt.

"We'll be training pretty often then Shikamaru if what you told me about your story is true than I'll work you to not regret." He walked up to me and laid his hand on my shoulder. "Life live to the fullest Shikamaru as you won't know when you'll end up dead… Now let's get to work."
