Chapter 22: Mistakes And New Beginnings Part 3
"Nice! Remind us what we loved about the passing decade." Hope noted with excitement and Jeremy smiled liking seeing her happy. They got busy setting up and that kept her busy and didn't see Jeremy doing thumbs up to Bonnie who grabbed the plate and drink and then nodded to Elena and Nansia who quickly exited the bar with smiles.
Flashback: Forty-five minutes prior to the arrival at the bar: Inside the Salvatore car.
Elena, Damon, Jeremy, Nansia, and Stefanie had taken one car while Caroline, Bonnie Alaric, Hope, and the twins got the second car.
Nansia was seeing the scenery pass as they drove when Elena got her attention;
"Nansia, I'm Hope's Secret Santa and I'm planning something huge, that huge is getting her family here for New Year from New Orleans and San Francisco. I need your help to get them inside the bar without Hope suspecting anything and surprise her once the countdown starts. We will mingle a bit and around 9 pm we are going to sneak out to go pick them up from the airport and we are going to take the car, which Bonnie is currently driving. Do you want to help me?" Elena asked Nansia with an excited tone and smile.
"Of course! Count me in! She will love this!" Nansia said surprised at Elena's idea having recently learned about the turmoil that occurred between Elena and Mikaelsons a couple of years ago.
Elena smiled and clapped her hands excited while Damon chuckled and shook his head while eyeing Stefanie from the review mirror who was lost in her tunes.
End of Flashback:
Nansia and Elena drove to the airport and Nansia were telling Elena how anxious she was meeting them. Elena told her to play it cool and that they don't bite, they opt to snap necks more.
Nansia eyed scared her and Elena laughed saying that they know better than attack her if they want to stay in Hope's good graces.
They arrived at the airport and waited for twenty minutes and ten more minutes trying to find each other in this massive airport that Elena told Nansia was named Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Nansia saw a tall blonde woman with a monochrome deep green jumpsuit with a deep v-neck and her hair in perfect curls and white Oxford coat looking around while holding a rose golden suitcase and an African American man dressed in a sharp tux in a black and red tie and black long coat holding two suitcases in black and red while studying the luggage lane for more.
"Rebekah!" Elena yelled over the crowds and raised her hand and with the other one dragged Nansia with them.
Rebekah smiled and hugged her and then eyed Nansia in awe.
"And you must be Nancy." Rebekah said smiling and Nansia smiled awkwardly.
"It's Nansia, not Nancy. Nice to meet you!" Nansia corrected with a kind smile and Rebekah nodded apologizing.
"Do you guys, need help to locate your stuff?" Nansia asked kindly trying not to show how anxious she felt.
"No, we are enough people to get our luggage." Another voice said and Kol Mikaelson came behind Rebekah holding two more suitcases. After that Elena introduced her to the rest of the Mikaelsons.
"Guys, I want you to meet my niece, Nansia Gilbert…full name can't pronounce…yet…she's teaching me…so let's just go with that name." Elena said proudly as she pointed to Nansia who awkwardly waved her hand hello.
"What sort of full name is so difficult to pronounce?" Freya asked amused and a little bit intrigued. Nansia seemed to be uncomfortable with the question eyed Elena unsure and Elena smiled nodding her head before bringing the girl closer to her in a side hug.
"My full name is Athanasia Vasiliki Andoniadou-Skorpiti. Nansia is a nickname of my first nickname." Nansia explained uncomfortably still in Elena's embrace.
"And how is she your niece exactly?" Kol asked confused at Elena but Nansia answered instead;
"I'm adopted by Jeremy just so I can legally be in the country and secondly because we are distantly related through the Petrova bloodline…our common ancestors are Katherine Pierce and her daughter Nadia Petrova…my maternal great great great grandmother is Nadia's youngest daughter Thalia Petrova….Andonov through her marriage...it's a long story and I might have miscounted the great in the great grandmother part." Nansia explained as simply and summarized as she could.
Then both Elena and Nansia watched the Mikaelsons blink shocked trying to digest the information.
"Nadia had kids before becoming a vampire!?" Rebekah exclaimed shocked and Nansia smiled.
"Yep, seven if I don't miss anyone…she then died giving birth to Thalia." Nansia said hiding the Finn Mikaelson part from them for the time being. Elena noticed that but said nothing not wanting to ruin the civil existence with more drama and essentially ruin Hope's present and surprise.
"And where were you all this time?" Kol asked suspiciously eyeing the young girl and Elena.
"And what are you?" Rebekah added in the same tone as her brother Kol.
Nansia sighed and looked at Elena again who shrugged in a "might as well tell them" way.
"I'm from a different dimension and from the year 2019…I sort of time travel and dimensionally traveled…for the second time in my life…it was triggered this time after a fight I had with a few of my friends…former friends…that is still pending…before coming here I had time traveled to my dimension's future and I stayed there for thirteen years alive and one hundred and twenty-two years being cryogenically frozen as twenty-eight years old me before waking up back to my fifteen years old body and reliving the same day as before with all my memories of those thirteen years in my head…technically being twenty-eight years old in a fifteen years old body….I'm 19 years old now… What I am as of before yesterday we thought I was only a hybrid…part witch part werewolf…as of yesterday…probably a tribrid…the third part being of a Watcher…but it's still new…this Christmas has been A LOT…" Nansia rambled trying to give every information they asked for in a summarized version.
The Mikaelsons once again were stunned to silence and Nansia grimaced painfully as she rubbed the back of her neck in an embarrassing way.
"She's not making it up…as unbelievable as it sounds it's true…Hope has been a big part of helping Nansia adjust and figure out who and what she is." Elena added hoping it would silence the doubt in their faces.
"So, you had no idea you were a witch? Have you triggered your wolf?" Marcel asked unsurely and Nansia sighed heavily.
"The witch part…I think my maternal grandma and grandpa knew and tried to prepare me…but it passed my mum's and aunt's generation…I think because I've never seen them use magic…but I have memories of my grandma teaching me about herbs while I was playing at the park and other odd things here and there. As for my werewolf…no idea ever…my step-dad used to jokingly call me wolfie or little wolf because I could smell and hear very well and I would scare him by silently sneaking up on him but I never had any super-strength…maybe faster healing than most but that wasn't as fast as I've seen it be on a normal werewolf here. I…killed for the first time when I was eight years old…saving my then best friend's brother from being raped behind an alley by shooting the man with my step-dad's gun…army issued…and then many times during the wars in the future as a soldier and sniper…but never spent a day turning into a wolf…during full moons I was restless…but that was normal everyone in my family goes restless during full moons and we are agitated I thought nothing of it until I got here." Nansia explained as they had by now started walking towards the cars.
"Have you figured out why it's like this?" Keelin asked concerned and Nansia sighed again.
"My theory is that I psychologically blocked my wolf…" Nansia suggested as she lifted a suitcase and put it in the car's trunk.
"Have you turned at all while you're here?" Davina asked her as she added a bag next to the suitcase. Nansia answered no ending the interrogation for now.
Soon everything was fitted in the car and Marcel and Kol said he would follow them since they had already rented cars so the girls were bigger car while Kol and Marcel were following them back to Damon's bar.
"So, where you from?" Davina asked Nansia intrigued as the two younger girls were seated next to each other.
"I'm from Greece but I was born in Dublin, bio dad is Irish…never met him." Nansia answered smiling kindly and Davina nodded and silence ruled the car for a bit.
"So, how are you finding living in Mystic Falls?" Rebekah asked her with an amused tone.
"Unbelievable because I never thought that I would manage to live anywhere but Greece." Nansia answered truthfully and Elena chuckled.
"So, you never had a chance of visiting Mystic Falls in your dimension?" Elena asked truly intrigued.
"There's no Mystic Falls in my dimension. It's a small town called Covington in its place. And no there was no chance I would have made it not with the salaries a person my age or any age is paid in my country and the fear and threat of global terrorism. I lost my internet best friend in a terrorist attack in Belgium in 2016 it was enough to make me hate traveling even more." Nansia chuckled humorlessly and answered. Her answer earned a raise of eyebrows and Nansia nodded answering their silent question of "is it really that bad?".
"How excited are you guys to surprise, Hope?" Nansia asked seconds later trying to divert the topic to something happier.
"Oh! She's going to be so surprised!" Rebekah exclaimed excited and everyone smiled happily and Nansia's mind drifted to Ryan telling her he would try to sneak inside so they could spend the few moments of New Years' together.
She wondered where was he? Was he alright or plagued by anxiety-like she?
Sometimes she wondered what Landon and the others might think of her new relationship with Ryan? What about Penelope, will she be mad? She moved on pretty quickly but wasn't the one who ended the relationship.
She looked at her phone's clock and it was 11:15 pm.
They arrived at the club and Elena told her to go find Hope and see if Jeremy kept her busy. Nansia obeyed and rushed zigzagging in-between the crowds dancing to Jeremy's surprising good beats. Some songs she recognized herself not from her new playlists on her phone but from her Earth too which intrigued and excited her.
She found Hope jumping to the beat next to Jeremy holding one headphone to her ear and sporting a huge smile on her lips. Excited Hope waved at Nansia who gazed upwards at her and quickly climbed onto the makeshift stage.
"Hey!" Jeremy yelled over the music to Nansia who waved at him as she scanned the club, it was a great turnout and Damon looked satisfied and even waved at them from his spot.
Nansia told Hope to meet her at the back entrance when the 11:45 pm rolls over while she started texting Ryan asking where he was and scanning to find the twins.
Ryan texted Nansia that he was planning to pop by at 11:56 taking advantage of the mayhem so he won't be seen by the parental party, he just wanted to be there with her. Nansia said she would be waiting at the entrance of the bar for him.
She found the twins and grabbed Hope's hand and rushed to get to them. The twins were somewhere Hope wasn't going to accidentally fall on her family who was trying to get around the party to kill time until the countdown.
"Why are we following around the twins?" Hope yelled over the music.
"Because there are our friends and the only people we do know here? Plus Ryan is about to be here and I want to be seen that I'm with my friends which would make it easier for me to "sneak out" to find him." Nansia said to Hope who nodded and they started walking towards the twins' seats and table.
Josie smiled and waved them to come over and they did, a waitress who looked tired and overworked. Nansia pitied her she hoped the waitress made good tips from today and had this half guilt-ridden and overwhelming need to ask if she could help during the shift but as if Hope read her mind and ordered them a plate of a club sandwich with fries and ketchup and two glasses of water.
"So, the parents know about Malivore and what it has to be done to defeat it…or him. They also know about you being a tribrid and by your birth you are the first tribrid since you were born in 1999 and Hope was born in 2012. Ironically you're both born in May, you Nansia on May 15th and you Hope on May 12th! That gotta mean something! They also know about you being part of the Petrova bloodline and that you're a Watcher, whatever that means. Also, we met your potential dad who is a Watcher. What they don't know is that we have to try and save Ryan from his dad/abductor and that Ryan is also a witch, that a future version of Ryan has told you that you two are endgame. Am I missing anything else?" Lizzie summarized as they had huddled together so they could hear one another over the loud music.
She was avoiding adding the fact that she met older Stefanie and they had no idea about those facts that Elena was also visited by older Stefanie and Elena was being essentially stalked by Colin. The small quietness was stopped by the waitress bringing their orders. The girls were just trying to check off things from their mental lists in case Lizzie had forgotten to add.
"Have I told you about the little red book and how I met future Stefanie in a hotel room and what they told me?" Nansia asked unsure if she had told them during their coffee hang out.
Josie and Lizzie, especially Lizzie jumped at that mention of future Stefanie.
"Um….no…what happened?" Hope asked a little suspicious and concerned.
"So, after I was kidnapped by Ryan and tortured and future Ryan saved me and you found me in Old Mill, you found me there because I was found by Jeremy and Penelope and then I left feeling overwhelmed and needed to see Ryan because he gave me hope…I know so weak of me…anyways and I just walked allowing my legs to take me there when I arrived at the hotel and knocked on a door and saw them. After I demanded to know who she was and learned, and got over my shock I scolded them because time travel isn't a joke or a game. Stefanie told me that I was meant to focus on my magic and werewolf training because my people in 2281 need me for some reason she didn't say. Then Ryan told me he had a cheat book with all the events already happening to use as a guide but I didn't want to read it too afraid of spoiling stuff but I have it just in case. Then Stefanie said about the time vortex I had originally asked for when I first got here; I had started to work on a way to get me home from 2149 and I had managed to finish at least one but I lost it in all the chaos. She wanted me to start re-creating them which I'm not sure if I do it yet…that is all." Nansia explained with a stressful tone adding a stressful sigh and everyone looked between shocked and even more stressed.
"Stefanie also gave me her vortex manipulator that got me to the Old Mill where you found me again." Nansia added quickly having forgotten to add this and Josie nodded impressed.
Lizzie looked a little guilty and Hope noticed it.
"Liz?" Hope asked suspiciously.
"I was visited by future Stefanie too during the time I was alone at the Christmas festival when I was having this fight with Caroline…mum…" Lizzie said guilty and the girls widen their eyes in shock.
"What did she want?" Josie asked a little hurt.
"She consoled me and we had fun nothing world ending." She explained and everyone smiled softly understanding how tricky the situation is.
"What about the monsters that attacked the school thus far? They are because of those goddamn keys and probably Landon. The adults are also aware of that too." Josie added and her town and face revealed how stressed she was.
"Yeah, it's kinda weird that no monsters attacked the school the past week and a few days…Landon is safe at the school and he hasn't said anything about monsters, if there was he would say something." Hope added too with a concerned tone.
"I never was present for any monster attacks, why?" Nansia asked confused and Josie smiled;
"Penelope took you out on a date or you were at work." Josie answered smiling kindly and Nansia ohhed and then nodded remembering the times.
"What else are we forgetting?" Hope asked as she ate a bit of her food.
"Oh! The fact that I've been losing my eyesight and watching some weird locker or a car that doesn't fit in with what I'm supposed to see. And similar dreams…" Nansia said confused and Josie nodded remembering how in the Salvatore kitchen Nansia was about to cut something but instead of seeing the object she was supposed.
"Oh! Could it be your parallel dimension's twin's life?" Hope theorized and Lizzie also recalled the events just like Josie.
"Of course, we forgot the whole finding my parallel self-family-twin! How are we going to approach this? And when?" Lizzie exclaimed in a stressful realization.
"Oh! And how do we tell the rest of the super squad about Ryan being on our side? And his relationship with Nansia? And the whole Penelope x Nansia thing…it's been so quick and now you're in another relationship." Josie reminded her friends without hiding how many things piling up.
"Ah! Fuck!" Nansia groaned stressed.
"We can make it guys! We will get them all together and we will talk to them. But we need to be prepared for some people to go against us." Josie said seriously and everyone let their heads hang in tiredness and stress.
"At least we have found one solution to tell the rest of the Super Squad, yes I'm calling it that. Now we need to keep the adults from figuring out the rest, such as that Ryan is a witch and not Malivore's son but one of his abductees and that we plan to save Ryan and destroy Malivore at the same time. Then we have to figure out the whole Watcher thing and how is that connecting to Nansia and we must somehow come into contact with one of them. Then figure out why Nansia is seeing these… so-called visions. After that, we see about helping you make Time Vortex Manipulators and that future Stefanie warned you about." Hope is listed in a sort of sarcastic yet optimistic borderline hopeful tone.
"Am I forgetting anything else?" Hope added and looked at her friends who were the faces of various phases of defeat. A stark contrast to the atmosphere surrounding them.
"Ah yes, we forgot to add the probable emancipation of mine." Lizzie added bitterly sarcastic.
Josie opened her mouth to say something but the lights turned down and people started gathering towards the exit and the countdown started and whatever Josie was about to say died with her. Everyone including them rushed to the bar's front while Nansia checked her phone to look for Ryan's text and saw it telling her he was waiting at the back.
She rushed and allowed him in, gave him a quick peck and then walked with their hands holding tight to each other and sat at the back holding each other they counted down along with the rest of the people sharing a passionate kiss once the Happy New Year cheers burst. Lizzie and Hope's group hugged Ryan and Josie shyly hugged him too then the three girls embraced Nansia.
Ryan quietly said his goodbye understanding his chance to be here was over and Nansia told him to wait a bit at the back while she's exchanging wishes with everyone. Ryan was waiting while Hope kept him company awkwardly when Nansia came and thanked Hope for keeping him company.
"Sorry for this…I thought it wouldn't be this quick." Nansia apologized and Ryan smiled saying it was fine before stealing one more kiss from her as he hold her in his arms and rested his back against the alley's cement wall.
"Happy new year!" Ryan whispered seductively and Nansia giggled while blushing.
Just then the door was opened and Caroline was standing there smirking at them.
"Happy new year, Ryan! Sorry to break this but Elena is about to surprise Hope." Caroline said smiling kindly and Nansia nodded excitedly as she peeled off Ryan who smiled tightly and return the good wishes to Caroline not feeling comfortable around the vampire woman. Nansia was about halfway inside when she rushed back and kissed him one more time quickly whispering good night before she run back inside trying to keep up with Caroline.
Hope was confused as to why Alaric wanted her help on the second floor of the bar where the lounge area was but now it was storing more tables and chairs.
Just then Caroline, Nansia, Josie, and Lizzie joined them while Alaric directed her towards the entrance of the terrace doors of the bar, the summer area Damon called it, and gently guided her through it. Instantly Josie handed Hope her jacket and confused Hope put it on while Lizzie blindfolded her.
"What the hell, guys?" Hope asked confused while Bonnie joined them having created a sort of silencing and scent covering spell so that the Mikaelson family can get on the terrace passing by Hope without her smelling them or hearing them. They stood smiling before Elena took over for Alaric and asked Hope if she was ready.
"Ready for what, guys?" Hope laughed slightly uncomfortable and confused before Elena nodded at Bonnie who took down the spell and Elena undid the blindfold.
"For this! Happy new year, Hope!" Elena exclaimed happily and Hope gasped shocked and slightly stumbled while she held on to Elena who was laughing happily at her reaction.
"Hey, guys!" Hope said through happy tears as she was engulfed in Rebekah's hug who was crying and didn't say anything.
After she was created by everyone Hope turned to Elena who was wiping her own happy tears.
"You were my secret Santa?" Hope asked Elena who nodded and asked how she do which made Hope rush to her and hug her causing both to slip over thin ice that was coating the terrace.
Hope and Elena laughed at that incident while getting up as Josie helped Hope up and Damon helped his wife.
"Thank you, Elena, you made my holidays!" Hope said as she couldn't stop crying as Marcel held her in his arms.
"Well you had to choose between spending it with us and Nansia without your family and Christmas is a family holiday it must have hurt not being with them this year so I brought them here." Elena exclaimed as she was held by Damon and both were smiling kindly.
"Imagine telling our teen selves this would have happened in eighteen years from then…I wouldn't have believed me!" Caroline joked as she watched the scene go down before she and everyone laughed at the notion of agreeing with her.
"Why not? Did you all believe you'd be at each other's throats for eternity?" Nansia asked none the wiser since she recently was clued in the whole Mikaelson versus the Mystic Falls gang saga.
"Yeah, pretty much!" Kol answered smirking and Nansia shook her head in disapproval.
"For evolved species, you do act like four-year-olds…" Nansia mumbled but in a place, with vampires, it was heard pretty clear causing Caroline to chuckle and Nansia to get a glare from Kol and an intrigued smirk by Rebekah.
"And how did you act in high school, miss Nansia?" Kol asked sarcastically but his eyebrows furrowed when Hope, Josie, and Lizzie quickly tensed and exclaimed the word "don't" to Kol then eyed Nansia fearfully.
Nansia looked a little puzzled and looked at Elena as if asking permission which earned her a small nod.
"Junior year I pulled a knife at a classmate's throat for bashing my head against the desk for a whole month straight every time he saw me which was every day and stabbed another classmate with the pointy side of the equipment you make perfect circles with, don't know the English word for, after he got drunk and high and stabbed another girl classmate and tried to rape her after he locked them in our classroom. He had me by the neck dragging me over our desks after I climbed in from the bathroom roof and got inside to save the girl. We got caught in the port for a trip to Istanbul of city and police and Gadara dogs sniffed our bus and bags and found about 145 kg of cocaine hidden everywhere. Senior year it was chill with a few fights…I pushed a girl down the stairs for choking my friend and we saw live executions on TV, lost my best friend in a terrorist attack and four classmates in a car crash. Oh! And our school caught fire once! And I got hit by a wayward rock through the window during class while other kids threw rocks at each other outside our class window. Normal stuff…we didn't have to deal with supernatural bad guys just local gangs and terrorists..oh and racism! But I think we handled it okay for sixteen-year-olds." Nansia said unphased as she shrugged and looked at Kol and his family who were just blinking clearly shocked.
"Did you guys have teachers during all of this?" Marcel asked disturbed and Nansia nodded.
"What the hell?! Where were they then?" Keelin exclaimed in disbelief after seeing Nansia nod.
"Sometimes locked in the teachers' lounge or watching us and not saying anything because they have lost faith in us….or they were high and drunk or both so they didn't really remember anything afterward. I'm aware I went to shitty schools guys…let's go back inside!" Nansia sighed tiredly realizing that because she had made sort of peace with the events that happened in her school and normalized them in her mind that others wouldn't be disturbed by learning of them. And she didn't want to have to tell them more of her sob story. She was afraid it would reach that level that is why she eyed Elena for an okay. It was Hope's moment, not hers.
The Mikaelsons had more concerned questions for this new student that seemed to be good friends with their niece but understood the unsaid plead to change the topic and focus elsewhere so they silently followed everyone back inside the warmth. Back inside the Mikaelsons plus Hope remained on the second floor a little bit secluded from other guests and loud music in order to catch up. While the rest rejoined the festivities all except Nansia, she secretly withdrew from everyone and sat in a dark corner at the back near the kitchen and she started picking at her shoes and dress getting rid of hairs and snowflakes.
Jeremy realized that his adoptive daughter was nowhere to be seen while he saw the others returning from their surprised as he kept on DJing. And that made him concerned as he decided to put a longer song on to go search for her. He found her sitting on the steps of the emergency exit near the kitchen and saw her sad face as she silently kept picking her shoe lashes.
"Nansia?" Jeremy asked concerned as he sat next to her and Nansia kept picking up her shoes.
"Why do I always do this?" Nansia asked in a tone mixed with anger and sadness and Jeremy understood it was directed at herself.
"You always do what?" Jeremy asked as he got comfortable.
"Somebody asks me about my life before here and no matter how hard I try I always end up telling them some tragedy of mine and showing them my baggage and how fucked up I am. They don't need to know that! I don't want their pity or them knowing how weak I am or my sob story!" Nansia exclaimed frustrated and Jeremy sighed as he pulled her in a side hug.
"You can't avoid that part Nansia, you can learn to dance around the events or sugarcoat them but you can't change or erase them, they're your life, your past. What makes you! Do you think I enjoyed being known as the kid who lost her parents, the kid that was constantly high, or the kid who could talk to ghosts? But want to know something?" Jeremy said wisely and compassionately as he held on to Nansia squeezing her lightly close to him and she nodded silently in his embrace.
"None of the kids remembers me now and I get to be who I want to be. More people are obsessed with themselves and what their doing so in a couple of hours I'm sure they would have forgotten they even met you or me or anyone really. I suggest talking to Emma once we get back to help you through this the best way possible." Jeremy said wisely as he hugged her sideways and Nansia rested her head against his shoulder.
In the first time since she got here, she felt as if she was loved and protected without having to give up something. All these people forgiving her for her several breakdowns in just a week…it's been a week a full week of ups, downs, and discoveries.
"The way Damon, Elena, and everyone reacts to my breakdowns is because they pity me or because they care? Honesty, please." Nansia asked inside Jeremy's embrace. Her tone was vulnerable and genuine curiosity.
Jeremy eyed her surprised by her question.
"Yes! Nansia yes! We do love you and care for you!" Jeremy exclaimed as he let Nansia out of his embrace and kneeled before her and gripped her shoulders and answered her feverishly. Her brown-greenish eyes filled with tears in her eyes as they dripped down her cheeks and her dress.
Jeremy quickly hugged her tight as she broke down crying again.
"I'm broken…I'm too much…I'm a nothing…easily replaceable." She mumbled repeating every word her mum and her bullies classmates told her all her life.
"Nope! No! You might be broken but you have people who will love your broken pieces and help you learn how to love them too. People who will protect you not because of your name or ancestry but because of you and the only thing you have to give back and they ask for is to love them back!" Jeremy said to Nansia as he held her in his arms and now he was teary-eyed.
She kept crying Jeremy's eyes started to water and then Rebekah walked by she had heard everything that was said, she was returning from being outside and was heading downstairs to the party and heard everything.
Jeremy's eyes told Rebekah not to say anything and just leave but Rebekah shook her head no and opened her mouth;
"Who said the words that you called yourself before, Nansia?" Rebekah asked her and her presence made Nansia detangle herself from Jeremy and abruptly stood up and quickly wiped her tears away messing her makeup.
"Miss Mikaelson!" Nansia gasped ashamed.
"Nansia, who said those words?" Rebekah asked her again sternly.
"My mother and some classmates…" Nansia answered shamefully as she looked at her hands who were tightly holding each other in front of her lap.
"And you told us that your mother doesn't have the same gifts as you, correct?"
Nansia nodded.
"And your classmate doesn't have ANY idea of what you survived, had to survive, and the powers you hold, correct?"
Another nod from Nansia.
"Then my dear, this is easy, the things they told you aren't true. Your mother must feel jealousy because you're everything she's not, you're kind, intelligent as I was told, funny again as I was told and as far as I have seen you're a great person! Your mother, on the other hand, doesn't sound as such and she's rightfully jealous instead of proud that you were part of her, came out of her and you are such power of good! As for your classmates, they're mere humans they can barely grasp what we can! Don't listen to them!" Rebekah semi scolded semi-hyped up Nansia who looked stunned at the words she received from the woman she met a few hours ago.
Jeremy was smiling in thanks from behind Nansia as he nodded in approval to Rebekah who eyed him at the end of her speech for approval.
"You just met me, you can possibly know who and what kind of person I am, but thank you for these words…" Nansia said at the same time confused and touched by the words.
"You're right, Nansia, we just met but you aren't anything new…everyone who you know are at least a little bit broken but that is what makes us stronger and gives us strength to keep going. The suffering is part of your epic story…our stories. You can't be fixed but you can learn to live with those pieces." Rebekah advised wisely and her gaze dug into Nansia's soul.
Jeremy was shocked too as he stood up and embraced Nansia from behind as new tears run down her eyes.
"Thank you, really thank you, Rebekah!" Nansia said as she untangled herself from Jeremy and hugged her. Rebekah froze shocked as she looked at Jeremy surprised and Jeremy smiled and mouthed to hug the young girl back. Rebekah hesitantly hugged her back.
After the brief hug, Rebekah left them and went to join her family which ended up being only Hope while the rest were on the dance floor.
"So, what is Nansia's story?" Rebekah asked her niece and she smiled;
"I don't know much about her life before showing up here or in that future of her dimension. But I do know that she went through a lot of abuse in the hands of her mum, I don't think it's my place to share or during this happy day…night. But she's healing, we had a few setbacks but I'm so glad I joined Lizzie and Josie to Elena's house. My friendship with the twins became stronger, we talked a lot about our pasts and my friendship started developing between me and Nansia. Although, I truly think that a spell I did a few months ago brought her here…partly…I wanted a friend and twenty-four hours later she's here." Hope said in a semi-protective semi glad tone.
Rebekah nodded hearing her niece's explanation and then studied her family having fun when Hope asked her why she asked. Rebekah couldn't help but feel as if there were things unsaid by her niece regarding this newfound friendship and the girl's arrival. Part of her wanted to get involved but another part of her didn't want to jeopardize the calm life she had now with Marcel.
Hope then stood up and walked over to Nansia who just walked towards her and Jeremy walked behind her joining Bonnie at Kol's and Davina's table.
Nansia and Hope smiled as they hugged and walked to join the Saltzman twins at the far back table. The party had sort of died down but still was going. It was still a party though, a tame one.
Watching them whisper amongst themselves and she was reminded of the OG Scooby-Doo gang.
Here we go again…
