I'm really happy with how this arc is turning out. Don't get me wrong, there's some stuff I'd like to do better, but I'm not worrying about it since I'm writing this for fun.
Second chapter of the new arc is starting now! Hope you enjoy and comment/review!
The group wasn't sure how long somebody could yell at someone without damaging their voice, but now they knew for sure it was about an hour. At least, that's how long Clawdeen had been yelling at her brother and friend after realizing they'd been dating behind her back.
"You think she'll stop anytime soon? We kind of need to start this now." Eddy checked the time on his MirrorPhone again. "I mean, it's impressive, but I'm pretty sure we need her to talk after this."
"Give her time. You should've seen what happened after I broke up with her brother." Cleo sipped her ScareBucks coffee, playing on her iCoffin. She was going over everyone's social media accounts and most of the news wasn't good. "I can easily say that things are still going downhill on the digital front. So many messed up memes…"
"I'll go get her. Somebody has to get this fic on track." Maddie jumped up, running over to the werewolf. She practically physically dragged her back over. "C'mon, Clawdeen. I think they get the point."
"They'll get the point when they realize they shouldn't do this behind my back!" The werewolf shouted the last part to two, who looked guilty enough as is. She wordlessly took a packet of beef jerky from Cerise, tearing it open to take a bite. "Seriously, the nerve! Think they can hide secrets from me."
"We'll touch on that later, okay? We kind of have bigger problems to worry about." Double D checked over the latest calculations going on Ghoulia's tablet. "How much is the actual rise in incidents in Monster High at now? Twenty percent? Thirty?"
"Sixty, and slowly rising. If this continues we might have a full-on civil war based on racial tensions." Ghoulia clicked off the screen before straightening out and looking at the group assembled before them. "I would suggest that we come up with a plan of action now before this happens. I don't know how long it'll take exactly for the conflict to explode, but most likely soon."
"What do we do, then? Start another concert?" Ed threw it out there, but he was just as unsure about what they could do. "We did the school spirit thing, but it didn't exactly work out. At least, not as much as it should."
"I think we should check out that new counselor you guys mentioned. This all got worse after he started working there, right?" Cerise received nods from everyone, confirming her suspicions. "Is this all on purpose? This seems like a weird thing to do for someone hired to help sort this stuff out."
"There's a good chance the guys a spy. I mean, my mom always put spies in other people's courts or had people hired into hers that were spies themselves." Raven shrugged, tapping her foot against the floor in contemplation. "I don't get why he'd want to sabotage a high school, though. I mean, it isn't exactly an important part of the politicians court."
"I have an idea, but I don't think a lot of you will like it." Apple looked a little ill at the thought that crossed her mind, but it was apparent all the same. "It could be that Mr. Van Hellscream might be a monster hunter."
The sentence quieted the group all together. None of them had thought of that until now.
"That's an actual thing?" Ed seemed horrified at the thought, remembering all the movies he watched involving monster hunters. He realized he was now on the other side of that. "I thought that was only in movies and stuff."
"Not really. Just because Monsters and Legends are good at hiding doesn't mean some humans don't know about us." Ghoulia looked uncomfortable with the suggestion but didn't outright deny it. Seeing it from that perspective, it made it particularly obvious. "That does put a disturbing light on certain things happening around here."
"Wait, maybe we shouldn't jump to conclusions here. I mean, no monster hunters have found this place in decades." Raven tried to reason everyone down from the ensuing panic. She almost glared at Apple for daring to bring it up. "We might be accusing a guy over just being incompetent."
"Isn't that even worse, though? At least if it's on purpose, we can get rid of the problem easier." Eddy raised a good point, though it did nothing to assuage any fears. "We just need to take him out fast before he causes any more trouble. Sounds simple enough to me."
"Yet we don't have any proof of anything. Just like the cheer camp." Cleo sighed, rubbing at her eyes. Dear god, why does everything have to go back to cheer camp? "This means having to convince Bloodgood that something is going on here, whether it's a monster hunter or just incompetence."
"I'm kind of with Apple on the monster hunter theory. I have heard some weird rumors about some guy hanging out near the school who sounds a lot like Hellscream." Double D didn't want to raise the panic further, but that was something he had been checking out. "The only reason I dismissed that is because he apparently met up with Badwolf several times."
"Wait, he was meeting up with who?" Cerise looked fairly alarmed by that bit of news. She was doing her best not to show it. "Are you sure those two even talked? It could just be a coincidence."
"We can't really count any of that out. Considering my brother was almost involved in a hate crime, I think it's worth checking out." Clawdeen sighed, rubbing her temples. "Still can't believe this. They've been doing this for two weeks, you know. Two freaking weeks!"
"I'm sorry to hear that, but I think we need to change gears here." Apple really did feel for the werewolf, but this really wasn't the time for relationship drama. "I do think we should try and get someone with authority involved. I think Bloodgood would at least entertain the thought."
"Like I said, we need proof. Otherwise, we don't have a leg to stand on." Cleo showed her phone, the profiles of the more influential people on the vampires and werewolves sides clear. "Maybe getting some information from the people in charge of all of this would help things along."
"If they're willing to listen." Eddy scoffed, though he did get up pointing at himself. "I call dibs on bad cop. Apple can play good cop while Cleo brings them in."
"Okay. Not sure how to feel about it, but alright." Apple wasn't sure why it had to be an interrogation, but she'd go along with it. "Somebody should probably go talk to Bloodgood anyway. Maybe see if we can pull the same tactic from cheer camp."
"Ed, Raven, and I could go for it. She might listen to us if need be." Ghoulia shrugged. It was just a thought. She wasn't particularly worried about the conversation. "It isn't exactly a hard task, but she might need some convincing from more than one person."
"I think she likes me well enough. I can go talk to her with Ghoulia." Ed looked over to Raven. "Want to come with? We might have time to give you a tour there too!"
"Might as well. It'd be a good reason to get away from Grimm for a while." Raven thought up of something, though. "Shouldn't somebody check out what's going on with Badwolf, though? That sounds like a promising lead."
"I will. My family talks with his a lot because of the story situation." Cerise sounded rushed when she said this, as if to make sure no one questioned it. "Anyone that wants to join me, feel free. I'm pretty sure all of that is a misunderstanding, though."
"Very quick to defend you villain's dad. Is there any reason for that?" Maddie received no answer as the hooded girl was already moving away. She shrugged, though not without glancing towards the girl's retreating form again. "She most likely knows what she's talking about, but it's best to check."
"Fine. It'll keep me busy anyway. Need some time to cool down too." Clawdeen got up to follow Cerise, waving her phone at the people behind her. "Leave any updates in the group chat! We need to make sure we all know what's going on here."
"She's right. Make sure your devices are on at all times, especially if things are not what they seem." Double D shrugged, adjusting his tie before following behind his part of the clique. "God knows we're probably going to need it."
As everyone went their separate ways, all of them couldn't help but feel that premonition was most likely true.
Romulus knew what he was and what he wasn't. He was the leader of one of the bigger packs of werewolves in Monster High after transferring from Crescent Moon High. He didn't pick fights unless he needed to keep order. And he wasn't fond of vampires from Belfry Prep.
Gory Fangtell was just as self-assured with her own identity. She was one of the most popular in her old school, Belfry Prep, a reputation she held still in Monster High. She knew exactly when to push people's buttons due to her extensive years of being alive. And she didn't particularly care for the werewolves from Crescent Moon High.
Neither of them knew why exactly they were being sat down by Cleo De Nile, but they weren't exactly happy about it.
"Can someone please explain to me why I'm here? Especially with Mr. 'Pack is Life' over here?" Gory adjusted her glasses, looking over the room with open disdain. "I have important things to take part of right now and I'd appreciate if we kept this short."
"Ok, first of all, don't insult the pack. Second, do you really think I want to be here, vamp?" Romulus leaned back in his chair. He didn't seem to mind being here, but it looked like he would've preferred Gory wasn't there. "As much as I'd like to avoid doing homework right now, why does she have to be here?"
"Because you two have the most influence over vampires and werewolves in the school and don't seem to actively use it." Cleo took over, still leaning back in her chair. "Considering the number of incidents that keep occurring, that isn't exactly acceptable."
"Hey, just because I lead my pack, doesn't mean I'm responsible for everything they do." Romulus took offense to the tone the mummy took. "They do their own thing, and that's how it should be."
"Oh, to be able to get rid of responsibility so easily." Gory tutted at the werewolf, smirking slightly. "I'm starting to think that's an excuse to hide the fact you don't actually lead anything. Am I right on that, wolf?"
"Okay, that's it-"
It would've devolved further if their chairs hadn't suddenly been straightened up and shoved closer to the table, cutting them both off. The vamp and wolf shut up due to the rough treatment, their attention caught when a snap emanated from Cleo's left.
"I'd suggest shutting up until we need you to speak. It'll make things a hell of a lot faster around here if you did." Eddy strolled out of a dark shadow, moving a chair over to him with magic. He sat in chair backwards, leaning onto the backrest casually. "You think they'd teach that at private schools, but here we are."
"There's no need to be so rude, Eddy. They're just speaking their minds!" Apple calmly moved from behind them, scaring the two almost as much as Eddy did. She set out a tea set carefully, putting out treats. "A friendly environment serves much better to get information."
"But we don't have the time for a friendly environment, Princess. We need information now." Eddy pointed at Gory first. "All right, spill. What's been getting people up in arms lately?"
"Considering you're a Legend, it's no surprise you don't know our history on-" Gory's mouth was magically shut with a zipper.
"That isn't what we're talking about. We're focusing more on things happening in my school." Cleo leaned forward this time, looking deeply in the eyes of the two. "Now talk. I can't account for what he does if you don't."
Though they didn't seem to be intimidated by the threat, they did spare a glance towards Eddy for good measure. Romulus ended up being the first to crack.
"It all kinda started after your group went to cheer camp." He took a cup of tea from Apple wordlessly, not registering it. "Things were winding down. Everyone was sort of focused on you guys and what you were all planning."
"Then someone started putting garlic in all of our lockers." Gory received her own cup of tea after her own admission. "Piles of it. The worst thing is that garlic doesn't even hurt us. It stinks though, so the smell got into all of our belongings."
"I'm assuming the vampires blamed the werewolves for that one?" Cleo took a sip of her own tea, contemplating things. "I wonder, do all the teachers have keys that open students' lockers?"
"I believe so. Baba Yaga does have her own set of keys that accesses the entire school." Apple hadn't poured her own cup yet, watching the interaction go down. "A counselor might have certain permissions, especially for at risk students."
"Did you guys retaliate or something?" Eddy made a pencil float around his fingers lazily, if only as a show of power. "I'm guessing that since this can't be all one sided."
"We didn't, thank you very much. Despite accusations saying otherwise." Gory sent a look towards Romulus's way. "We were trying to get our lockers cleaned up thanks to that stupid prank when some of the werewolves start howling and accusing us about someone mailing things to them."
"It wasn't just things, it was silver!" Romulus tried to stand up, but a quick jerk of his chair caused him to sit down again. He wasn't deterred in the slightest though. "That garlic stuff may not work on you, but silver definitely works on us. And don't even act like it wasn't you guys who sent it."
"Okay, I'd suggest calming down here." Apple raised a hand, catching their attention. "Accusations every which way isn't going to help anyone. Especially if neither of you can prove it."
"And I'd really think about this; how did they mail that stuff so fast?" Eddy's question silenced them further. "Isn't that a little too soon after the garlic thing? Even if it's in the same town, postage would take about a day."
"Also, you'd at least smell the garlic on them, Gory. Like you said, vampires do have a good sense of smell." There was a moment of silence as Cleo took a longer sip of her tea this time. "Continue."
"…We were all pretty ticked off about the silver thing. Some of us talked with Gory and Bram about what happened, trying to figure out who started it." Romulus received a biscuit for the trouble. He absentmindedly munched on it. "Nobody was willing to admit to anything, so it just ended up in a screaming match."
"Headmistress Bloodgood walked in on things and shut it down immediately. Told us to head towards the counselor's office." A sugar bowl appeared near Gory, which she immediately used, putting two cubes in her cup. "Everyone in attendance talked with him one on one, and we were dismissed afterward. No punishments given."
"And what exactly did Mr. Van Hellscream say during those meetings?" Cleo fingered the rim of the cup, having favored listening intently rather than drinking. "Anything noteworthy? Something that you wouldn't expect him to have said?"
The werewolf and vampire looked at each other briefly, though not with malice this time. Just confusion.
"He said that we shouldn't be surprised that werewolves are against us." Gory's reply was quiet, dissecting the statement she was quoting carefully. "That since our race enslaved them, they'll never be on our side."
"And that vampires would always be stuck in their ways." Romulus's tone was also odd, as if realizing how strange this all was right then. "Their age would always blind them and they wanted things back like when it was the old days."
The two looked at each other again. They started to talk amongst each other, as if the other three weren't in the room, comparing other things that were mentioned during their respective meetings. The others only listened.
"This reeks of a setup." Eddy whispered to the other two. He let go of the magic holding their captors here, not needing it anymore. "Hellscream is definitely doing something here."
"I really hoped I was wrong, but it does seem to be pointing towards him being responsible." Apple sighed, finally pouring herself a cup of tea. She added two sugars before drinking. "Though, an answer is an answer I suppose."
"We'll update everyone as soon as this is over. Hopefully the other uncover some more evidence if we need to use it." Cleo almost took a sip of hers before stopping. "Apple, have you been Pavloving everyone into telling the truth this entire time?"
"I did say that a friendly environment does encourage conversation, didn't I?" Apple received looks from her other two compatriots, causing her to shrink back. "What? It worked."
"And people say that we're the scary ones here?" Eddy received a shrug from Cleo, causing him to sigh. "I really hate being the sane one in these situations. It just doesn't fit me."
It was later in the day as Badwolf sorted through the graded papers and adjusting things at his desk. It was normally a calming ritual, especially after one of the longer days of teaching.
Unfortunately for him, he remained tense throughout the procedure. The calming ritual had been tainted due to recent events and he couldn't take any enjoyment out of it because of it. He was awaiting a call later and he wasn't looking forward to it.
But he had to take it. He didn't really have a choice.
His concentration was eventually broken, however, not by a ring of a phone, but by a knock on the door. It was certainly unexpected, though, causing him to nearly drop his papers. He was able to put them down and get to the door quickly enough.
Badwolf quickly put up his usual act of "tough love," opening the door with a huff. "What do you want?"
"Ah, Mr. Badwolf!" A male voice was quick to respond. "We wondering if we could speak to you for a moment? It's somewhat urgent."
Badwolf blinked at the sight of Double D, backed by Cerise, Maddie, and Clawdeen. He didn't usually have the luxury of teaching three of them, and the last one didn't normally go to the school. Curious.
"Make it quick. I'm expecting a call soon and I can't really put it off." It was against his better judgement, but he figured that it would be best to act like things were normal. "What is it you four want?"
"Oh, it's nothing much!" Maddie zipped into the classroom, sitting down in one of the desks. He didn't know she could move that fast. "We just had a few questions we wanted to ask you."
It didn't take them long to take a seat, which only made Badwolf more anxious. It looked like they were gearing up for a long conversation, something he couldn't really take right now. Maybe he'd luck out and it would be something simple.
"You heard about the new counselor at my school, right?" Clawdeen said, immediately destroying those hopes. "Just wanted to get your opinion on the guy."
"Only if you actually do have an opinion." Cerise was trying to be helpful, giving him an out. He had a feeling she wouldn't believe him if he said no. "It's just some things at Monster High are apparently going a little sideways and we were wondering if…"
"I have met Mr. Van Hellscream. Ambitious though not very memorable." Badwolf went with the closest thing his first impression of him. It had changed, but it was still truthful. "Though, I can't say much on his results."
"Is it because his results are terrible?" Maddie was as subtle as a wrecking ball, as always. He almost flinched at the bluntness of it. "Yeah, they are. I mean, it took three days for him to ruin a couple weeks of hard work from us, so he's not really good at his job."
"Maybe a little too much, if we have some things right." Clawdeen added, leaning forward a little to get a good look into his eyes. "Any idea why that might be?"
…They knew something. Of course the only people to notice something was wrong were students. This was a cruel world indeed.
"We're only asking because you two have been seen around each other several times since he started working." Double D seemed to be trying to give him a reason to explain himself. Did they think he was working with Hellscream? "I figured that maybe you were just giving him some advice, considering his position."
"That doesn't mean whatever's happening is your fault. I mean, it most likely isn't." Cerise straightened out her hood, looking hopeful. "Right?"
Badwolf took a few moments to think about what he was going to say next. None of the people here were dumb, which he knew since he graded most of their tests. And even the one that he didn't seemed to be tracking his every movement.
"I'm assuming that your main assumption that it isn't incompetence that's making things worse at Monster High, correct?" He received some nods, confirming his second assumption. "And you think that I might have some idea if he is."
The latter part wasn't a question. It was a statement of fact.
"We're hoping not. At least, I certainly am." Cerise added the last part quickly, hopefully. "On the malicious compliance thing and you being a part of it."
"Unfortunately, there's quite a bit of evidence that supports the idea that he is doing some less than moral things." A ding came from all of their phones, Double D taking a look at the group chat. He cringed. "And judging from this new information, I'd be very surprised if this was only coincidence."
"Seriously, silver? That's like giving a person a knife and just… you know that, not completing that sentence." Clawdeen put the phone down, hands covering her face. "God, this is really messed up."
"So, we just need to know if you might have some idea if this is true." Maddie pet mouse, Earl Grey, moved out onto her desk and allowed itself to be petted, as if to soothe its owner's anxiety. "Or if you may have accidentally helped along with it."
The accusation was clear, despite being said so gently. It wasn't unwarranted, especially with everything going on. He didn't want to confirm anything, but he didn't want to go down as a traitor if he could help it.
"If I did happen to know, why do you assume that I would hide that fact?" Badwolf chose his words carefully, hoping they'd eventually catch on to his line of logic. "I don't have any prejudices against Monsters. I can't even say I hate anyone from that side of the pond, so to speak."
"That's why it seems a little odd Hellscream would flock to you so much." Double D said it honestly, tapping his finger to his chin. "Unless he plans on doing something in Ever After High, which he would need help for."
"Which only makes things much more confusing, since I actually work here." Badwolf continued. "Again, I don't hate anyone here, nor my lot in life. It wouldn't make sense. I'd report on him immediately."
"That doesn't mean you're talking with him willingly." Cerise stopped after she brought that up. Her thought process slowly went to thinking things more critically. "Which would explain why you'd talk to him. Especially about stuff relating to the school."
"True. Though, that would be a feat within itself, especially with my history." Badwolf shrugged, playing coy. "I've been known to be stubborn, which would be a boon in this type of situation."
"Then he has something on you?" Maddie cupped her chin with her hands, deep in thought. "You might be big and bad, but that doesn't mean you're corrupt though. It'd have to be something really bad."
"Or something that isn't just related to me." A lot emphasis was placed on those words. It was the most vital part of this. "If it was just me being effected, I'd like to think I'd take whatever punishment getting rid of a threat."
"Your daughter…" Clawdeen's ears perked up, the others following quickly on the realization. There was a moment of deep silence before she quickly got up. Her eyes were filled with pity and what Badwolf could almost call respect. "Sorry to bother you. We'll be on our way."
The others followed behind her, the boy himself scrambling at the sudden exit. They shared their goodbyes to him as they left, though Cerise paused before heading towards the door. She turned, eyes showing deep worry.
"Does he really have something?" The hooded girl was begging for him to say no right now, especially with this.
"…Yes." Badwolf continued sorting papers, not looking in her direction. "I'd suggest getting your homework done, Cerise. Just in case."
As the door closed, the big bad wolf sighed, feeling small right now.
He hoped they went to the proper authorities with what they have. They were just kids dammit, they shouldn't be solving problems like this.
Ed didn't know why, but something felt very wrong here. Maybe it was the temperature of the room, the way the chairs weren't comfortable, or what they were talking about that caused this feeling, but it just didn't feel right.
He especially felt this when looking into Bloodgood's eyes.
"I'm a little surprised to see you three here today. Especially you, Ms. Queen." Her tone was formal when she brought them in. "Not to say you aren't welcome here, but I'd suspect any problems with your school should be talked about with Headmaster Grimm."
"I don't think it's anyone's best interests that I talk with him. Ever, really." Raven plopped down in the chair next to Ed, crossing her legs carefully. She didn't seem to like the energy in the room too. "Besides, it isn't really about my school. Things are going okay there for now."
"We're here to talk about Monster High, actually. Especially with the recent issues with the vampires and werewolves." Ghoulia adjusted her position, opening up her laptop to show the projections she had gathered earlier. "As you already know, incidents have been on the rise lately, starting sharply after we left for Gloom Beach."
"A lot of messed up stuff too. You heard about the silver in the werewolves mail, right?" Ed received a nod from Bloodgood. "That's pretty bad compared to the other things that happened before we left. Any idea why this is happening?"
"I'm not entirely sure if I'm honest. Things just sort of started getting out of control." The headmistress didn't seem too concerned, despite this being her own school in jeopardy. The tone of the room continued to shift downward. "It seems pretty random to me. I did hear about the garlic incident before that, though."
"That's the thing; we heard about that too, and it sounds like that was too quick of a response to that earlier prank." Ghoulia had already calculated the time it would take to do something like that, especially on a massive scale. "Unless the vampires personally delivered the silver, then it wouldn't make any sense how they got it to them. And they have an alibi stating that they didn't do that."
"We think somebody else is doing this. We don't know why, but this sounds like someone's actively riling them up." Raven tapped her fingers onto the table. "And that somebody seems to know how to get information on everyone."
"Oh, that doesn't make any sense." The sudden dismissal from the administrator set them on edge even further. Bloodgood didn't seem interested int that theory at all, throwing it out before they could elaborate further. "If someone was doing that, we would've caught them! Not to mention a stern talking to from our new counselor would set them straight."
Ed looked at Raven and Ghoulia with a side eye, clearing his throat to catch everyone's attention. "Actually, we wanted to talk to you about Mr. Van Hellscream…"
The door opened before Ed could complete his sentence, causing the students to jump. Van Hellscream himself stopped himself from entering the room, eyeing the three with an embarrassed expression.
"I'm sorry, was I interrupting something?" Hellscream moved into the room, staying wary. "I wasn't aware you were having a meeting, Ms. Bloodgood."
"Oh, these three were just concerned about what's going on in the school right now. I was just about to say that we have things currently under control." Bloodgood got up from her desk, smile a little strained now. "Isn't that right, dearies?"
"That's right. We have friends on both sides, and we don't want to see anyone get hurt." Ghoulia got up from her seat, waving at her friends. "I think we should leave anyway. We just wanted to be heard."
"Uh, right." Raven got up, doing her best to calm her nerves at the interruption. She followed Ghoulia out the door, keeping her eyes away from Van Hellscream. "I got homework to do anyway. See you around Ms. Bloodgood."
Ed got up to join them, a stirring in his stomach causing him to feel sick. He made a move to head towards the door before stopping, turning towards the headmistress. "Ms. Bloodgood?"
"Yes?" The headmistress looked a little bit stressed. Ed noticed Ghoulia and Raven watching from the doorway, a raised eyebrow on the former and worried look form the latter.
"I was just wondering about the key fob me and my friends sold you. You don't have it on your keychain." Ed noted the confused look and elaborated further. "The werewolf one? When we first met in New York?"
"Oh, sorry about that. I must've misplaced it." The woman shrugged, as if what she said wasn't wrong at all. "If you care that much, you can go ahead make me another one. I won't lose it this time."
"That's fine." Ed moved out the door, smiling happily at Van Hellscream. "It was nice to meet you Mr. Van Hellscream. I'll talk to you if I need any help."
"Feel free to call me Victor, son." The man waved him goodbye, a friendly grin on his face too. "My office hours are on my door."
Ed and the girls made a quick escape after that, not stopping to talk until they were a good ways away from the office. They slowed eventually, taking a look behind occasionally.
"That was awkward. I'm willing to admit that." Raven sighed, running her fingers through her hair. "Bloodgood seems way to calm about all of this. Why is she being so calm?"
"I think we should worry more about what Van Hellscream might be doing to her. Apparently he's actually blackmailing Mr. Badwolf into helping him, which means he might be doing that to her too." Ghoulia had pulled out the group chat, checking it over religiously. "I don't know what it might be, though. Something extremely incriminating, though, that's for certain."
"No," Ed's sudden interjections, especially it's tone, made the girls pause. It sounded more forceful and sure than they'd ever heard it before. "It's worse than that. Much worse."
"What do you mean?" Ghoulia stopped fully, giving the tall boy a questioning look. Her nose scrunched up in confusion, wondering what exactly he caught on to. "Is something wrong?"
"Ghoulia, are there any Monsters that can shape shift? And Raven, some potions can let people look like somebody else, right?" The questions slipped out, slapping them in the face with the tone Ed used.
Ed's questions were weird enough to make them pause, making them think it over.
"There are Monster that can change their shape or actively look like someone else." Ghoulia admitted. She wasn't sure what the boy was thinking, but she felt like he was onto something. "Sometimes it's magical, sometimes it's biological."
"My story actually requires me to look like an old woman when I poison Apple either using a potion or magic." Raven shrugged. She was just as lost too. "Seriously, what are you talking about? Why are you asking about this?"
"Because when me, Double D, and Eddy sold her a key fob, it was a wood ghost that we made in New Orleans." Ed stressed out the creature and the location. It burned in his mind, screaming at him, and he hoped they understood what it meant. "She got both of those wrong. Like she was only going along with what I was talking about to get us out of there."
It took only a few seconds for the information to set in, both girls going over the facts. Realization quickly turned to horror as the implications finally set in.
"That wasn't Bloodgood." Raven didn't state it as a question. Her magic flared as anxiety set in, heart dropping. "He has an accomplice."
As Ed nodded slowly, confirming that thought, he couldn't help but wonder what they'd all just gotten themselves into.
Again, a cliffhanger. At least I deliver on those, right?
Something I've figured out about writing this is that having all ten characters in one scene? It's hard to right. Making sure nobody is left to the wayside, double checking everyone's dialect, along with making sure everyone interacts with one another is really difficult, so that 's why I usually write them into separate cliques usually. I do want to establish them all as being friends, but some friend groups have tighter friendships with some people than they do with others.
Also, I've decided that I need to make a change; I need to write more reviews and comments on other works. I appreciate all you guys give me, so I want to make sure I give that to others too. Feel free to recommend me fics you'd think I like or you think are just generally good and I'll give them reviews. Recommend me your own work too! I'll give an honest review of it.
Thank you and I'll see you next chapter!
