Sora and Elissabat Part 2
At the local Die-ner in New Salem, Sora and a disguised Elissabat sit across from one another. the normie looks at the papers in front of him.
"So…" Sora sets the papers down "I actually don't understand any of this, but it sounds like we have to break up," he looks up at his ghoulfriend. "Do you want us to break up?"
"Of course not!" Elissabat looks down at her untouched meal. "I truly care for you Sora. I'd give up the camera for you. And that's exactly what I'm going to do," she sighs. "I just wish I didn't have to."
The boy scratches his head as his face scrunches up as he was deep in thought. The vampire quietly giggles as she always found that look cute on him.
Sora's eyes then brighten up, "Oh!" he pulls out his iCoffin. "Hey, Cleo! You mentioned that your dad had dabbled in all sorts of careers over the centuries, right. Wasn't law among them?"
.oOo.
The couple now stand in the personal office of Ramses de Nile. The centuries old mummy is at his desk looking over the papers in front of him.
Ramses lets out a sigh after flipping through the pages for the seventh time. "I'm afraid there's nothing I can do for you," he sets it down.
"So, that's it?" Elissabat looks down. "My career is over."
Sora wraps an arm around the vampire in an attempt to comfort her. "Are you sure there's no way out of it?"
"Look boy," the royal looks at the normie with irritation. "You have done a lot for me. For my daughters, for my wife. I'm in debt to you for fifty of my lifetimes. But believe me when I say there's no way out of this contract," he gestures to the papers in front of him. "It's too carefully worded. Any loophole I found is then countered by another line. It's airtight and more importantly, legal."
The ghoul's heart nearly starts beating as it drops. For a very long time her life had been the boovies. It was her escape from her uncle. She knew that he'd never watch any of them and that's what made it such a good hiding place.
Sora speaks up, "I understand."
The boovie star turns towards him. "Huh?"
"The acting means a lot to you," he gives her a sad smile. "I know that. So, if we break up so you can continue your career, I'll understand."
Elissabat hugs her boofriend. "I love acting. It means everything to me, Sora," she backs up "However!" and digs out the slip of the pictures from the photobooth. "This means a whole lot more," the ghoul hands the slip over to the normie. "You showed me the world through eyes I haven't used for a long time. That I can have fun outside the view of a camera. If being with you means I can't act anymore, then so be it. My heart is so much better alongside you."
"Thanks, Elissabat," Sora smiles at her. "That means a lot."
At that moment, Ramses hums. "Elissabat?" he picks the papers back up.
.oOo.
Elissabat takes a deep breath as she is behind the curtains. The ghoul is currently wearing a dark purple almost black dress.
"There's my favorite client," the potbelly gargoyle approaches her. "Veronica, I hope you made the right decision."
The star gives her Manager a stern glare. "I know I have." Then, her name was announced.
"Now before screening, we have a special announcement from our very own, Veronica Von Vamp!" the skeleton hands the mike over to the vampire before leaving to find his own seat.
"Thank you all!" Elissabat curtsies. "It is not I, Elissabat, that makes this film so special. It is you, the audience. My boovies would not be as grand as they are were it not for you who cherish them as much as I do," she then faces the side of the stage, with a hand held out. "But there is someone more dear to me!"
The audience starts murmuring as a normie with spikey brown hair in a black suit walks out onto the stage. He stands next to Elissabat who gives him a kiss, shocking the audience.
"This here is Sora. We've been seeing one another for a long while now and I would like to formally introduce him as my boofriend!"
Many of the audience stands, most of them reporters throwing various questions at the couple. But Elissabat quiets them down. "Let us save the questions until after the premier. Pleas enjoy the boovie!" her and Sora hooks their arms together and walk back behind the curtain where they meet the angered Manager.
"You've done it now!" he growls at them.
"I must thank you," Elissabat grabs the gargoyle's hand and shake it. "You have given me a great opportunity. Now, I would like to thank you more, but I have a meeting after the premier for my next role."
"Next role!? There will be no next role! You're a fool if you think you can work in this town again!" he takes out a copy of the contract. "These papers state that I own you!" the papers are then snatched out of his hands. "Hey!"
Ramses now holds the contract. "On the contrary. No one owns my client."
The Manager raises a brow at the mummy. "Your client?"
"Pardon me, sir," the businessman reaches into his suit pocket and pulls out a card to hand it over to the gargoyle. "I am Ramses de Nile of the de Niles. I own and precure variety of businesses. I have dabbled in many careers and opportunities. One of them as private attorney. And I am here to represent this young lady here," Ramses gestures to the ghoul.
With a growl, the gargoyle hops in an attempt to get the contract back. "If you think you're that good then you know that my contract is airtight and completely legal!"
"You are right," the mummy praises him. "I examined every inch of these pages and could not find a single loophole that I could possibly abuse."
"Then that's it," the gargoyle smirks in victory. "I own everything that ghoul has. Even her name."
It's Ramses turn to smirk as he shows the page where the contract was signed and hands it back to the Manager. "You own everything of Veronica Von Vamp. Even her name. My client signed these papers with the use of a pseudonym. A contract is only binding when signed by one's own legal name," he moves over to the vampire ghoul and places a hand on her shoulder. "This child is Elissabat, Queen of the Vampires. Therefore, that contract is null and void."
Elissabat's former Manager stares at the ghoul in disbelief. She just smiles back, knowing that she has won.
"If you would like to dispute these claims, then I would gladly see you in court," Ramses bows. "Have a nice evening and enjoy the film," and walks away with Elissabat and Sora behind.
Trying to save face, the gargoyle puts on a faux smile. "Veronica, baby. Can't we talk this out. I'll draw up another contract."
The couple stops for a moment before the vampire turns to him. "My name is Elissabat. I am truly grateful for what you have done for me, but I cannot forgive you for attempting to control my unlife as a monster being. I had sworn to never let anyone do that to me again. Farewell," and the two continued their way.
Elissabat lets out a breath she had no idea she was holding.
Sora looks at her in worry. "You alright?"
"I am fine. Just recalling the memory of when I finally got out of the control of my Uncle," she turns to him. "It's all thanks to you," she kisses him before turning to the mummy. "And I must thank you most of all, Mr. de Nile. What could I possibly do to repay you?"
"No thanks necessary," Ramses informs her. "However, if you insist. My wife has been binge watching your films and recently became a fan. If you were to say, autograph a picture I'm sure she would be ecstatic."
"Consider it done. Pleasure doing business with you, Mr. de Nile," she curtsies.
"We are far from done, my dear," Ramses gives them a stern look. "I've known businessmen like your manager. He will attempt to sue and claim that your work is a breach of contract. He'll most likely try and drain any funds you currently have with the legal fees. If he or anyone representing him ever approaches you, tell them to contact me and I'll gladly represent you pro bono. I'll also gladly help you with the signing of your next contract as a consultant. Just give me a call," the mummy bows. "Now, I must take my leave." As he takes a step away from the couple, Sora calls out to him.
"Hey, Ramses!" the normie flashes his ridiculous smile. "Thank you. That debt you mention. Consider it paid in full."
"After all you've done for the de Niles, boy," the mummy chuckles. "If I knew it be that easy, I'd have repaid it a long time ago. You could have asked for my riches, and I'd happily give it to you," he walks away. "Until next time."
Sora tilts his head before turning to his now public ghoulfriend. "Should I have saved that favor?"
Elissabat giggles at his face. "Perhaps. But I'm glad that everything turned out alright," she pulls him along. "Of course, as long as it ended with me being with you, it would have been perfect either way. Now, let us find our seats. The premier is about to start."
"Oh, yeah! You know, this boovie stars my favorite actress?" that statement causes the ghoul to giggle.
"Oh? Do tell me about whom you are speaking of," she feigns ignorance.
