Prologue: Rebecca Franc, chosen one
Rebecca Franc was once a regular mean girl, a popular alpha bitch in whatever communities she was a part of, be that school, the church, or the club. She had absurdly rich parents who got anything she wanted, and most of all, she considered herself to be a happy person.
Key word: was.
Rebecca eventually graduated high school, and after that, life seemed to only go downhill for her.
All of the friends that once treated her like a goddess quickly abandoned her; the once loving parents bought her a cheap apartment, gave her a sum of money that could leave her living comfortably for a few years, and then turned their back on her, and she just went on a downward spiral after that. Her hair became long and unkempt, her room smelled, and she started to gain weight. She was starting to look like one of the girls that she would constantly bully during her youth. It was safe to say that she was in a terrible state.
However, there was one thing that maintained a small light in her frail heart: Pokemon.
Becca loved the franchise. She was an avid consumer of everything Pokemon-related: the games, spin-offs, trading card games, the anime—she even experienced a bit of fan fiction!
She had spent the last of her 2 years or so stuck in her tiny room, consuming every corner of Pokemon media possible; one could even consider her to be some sort of living, breathing Pokedex.
Don´t get her wrong, though; she was an avid fan of Pokemon, but she would never talk about it anywhere. No one even knew about her obsession. Far from it, actually, any person who knew the woman would think she was the typical girl who thinks Pokemon is a thing for nerds and little children. It would be totally unexpected for her to be a fan, and yet here we are.
Still, due to her still high pride, she refused to talk about Pokemon to anyone else, even on the internet, as she hated the Pokemon community with a passion. This solitary mindset led to quite a depressing life: alone, depressed, every day, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
It was one of those days that blended into each other; nothing seemed unusual about it. Becca was sitting in her bed playing some Pokemon Crystal, the version that was her favorite of the original Game Boy games, while she listened to some music, when suddenly she had a weird feeling:
It was like her whole body was being pushed out of where she was, but without any actual movement, she was collapsing into herself. Becca felt sick; she felt like vomiting; it was really the worst pain she had ever endured in her short life, and then... it stopped. Her mind just went black.
"Ugh…. What happened..?" Rebecca said as she was getting up from her blackout.
Becca quickly took a look around. This place clearly was not her room; it was an attic of some sort. It was made of wood, and it was very dark, with a roof closing in on her, so her best guess was some kind of attic.
As Becca got up, she instantly felt a lot better, but not just from the momentarily painful pain—from everything. She first noticed that the scars on her arms were suddenly gone. She realized she felt skinnier too, her skin softer, and her hair shorter and better kept. Next thing, she noticed that instead of being in her worn-out pajamas, she was wearing a beautiful (and probably very expensive) black and white dress. She stood there for a second. It took a while for her to realize it, but suddenly it hit her.
In some sort of miracle, she was young again, probably at the peak of her teens! Becca could not help but give a small scream.
After this quick moment of happiness, the girl recomposed herself. She had no time for commemorations; after all, she had probably been kidnapped or something close to that. The point was that she was in danger, and she needed to do something fast. Becca was about to start looking around the place when she suddenly heard a loud, heavy voice:
"Do not fret, my child, as you were brought here for a good reason." The voice spoke in a weird way, like directly at her mind but also everywhere at the same time.
"Who are you? Where am I? What is happening?"Becca said, trying to find the source of the voice. She looked at both of her sides, seeing nothing around her. Then she glanced down, seeing only her shoes, and then finally, with no other option, she looked up to the sealing, and there she finally noticed the huge white Pokemon descending from the heavens.
"What the fuck?! Arceus!? Am I dreaming?" Becca screamed, in a full state of shock!
"No, my child, you are not dreaming." "Nor are you drunk or having your mind altered in some way; this is all real." Arceus responded.
Becca had nothing to say about this. She was still processing the information that was just dropped on her, so she really was not prepared for what Arceus was about to explain.
"To answer your questions, first of all, I am Arceus, but you are already aware of that. As for where you are, you are in the Kanto region, or more accurately, at an empty mansion at the edge of Pallet town. And most important, to you, I guess, you were transported here by me. The pain you felt was you being transported from the human earth to here. In human terms, we can say you are some kind of "chosen one.""
"What the fuck... Okay, can you give me a minute to think about this?" Becca quickly asked.
"Sure, my child. Take as much time as you want."
Rebecca took a look around once again. She really wanted to believe that she was high or just dreaming, but the pain that hit her earlier was certainly real, and the whole situation felt real.
"Okay, Mr. Arceus... Let´s say that this is all real, and I'm not just out of my mind; why did you even bring me here?" Becca was questioned after a minute of self-reflection.
"First of all, my child, you can just refer to me as Arceus; there is no need for honorifics. Also, I identify as a girl, so it would be like, " Ms. Arceus. Anyhow, as for your question, well, let me give you a bit of cheap, direct exposition: You are familiar with Pokemon, as you interacted with the series in a lot of forms during your time on earth, correct? So, all of the different media of Pokemon are actually different Pokemon universes, which all co-exist and are commanded by me. This universe, however, has something different about it. It does not represent any existing Pokemon media; it is like a mixture of all of them.""Let me cut you off there," Becca suddenly exclaimed. "I´m going to guess you need to get me on a journey, or an adventure of some kind, to find the source and try to "fix" this universe. I get it, but why does it have to be me?" Arceus looked mildly annoyed at the interruption, but she quickly shaved off that thought.
Arceus then continued, "It does not have to be you, but you were my first choice. First of all, you are quite knowledgeable in your Pokemon knowledge. More than most, actually. And also, most Pokemon fans who know as much as you don't have as much of a backbone as you do. You see, I need a hero who can be kind of a jerk. But you don´t need to force yourself to do this. You can go back to your life if you wish to do so."
Becca didn't need to think twice before answering Arceus. "Wait, no, I´d much rather be here than go back to my old life. I have been young and beautiful for 5 minutes, and I already cannot live without it. Worst-case scenario, this is all a dream, but hey, I should make use of what time I have!"
After a brief moment of quiet, Arceus broke the silence in an unusually bright and fast tone, like she was anxious. "Great! Then here are your starter Pokemon, your wallet, and your trainer card. You should start your journey by tomorrow morning! Use this time to get to know your Pokemon. When leaving this house, try not to get seen by anybody." As soon as Arceus spoke, she left, dropping a poke ball, a beautiful Gucci wallet, and a trainer card. She was gone. Rebecca was all alone. She was baffled, but also happy. She was determined to live a great journey and re-live her glory days as a queen! And that was the start of everything!
