Prologue
Blood thundered in his ears as he sprinted through Skyrim's dense forest. The howling midnight winds filled his ears. All this combined with the sheer terror he felt from what might happen if he stopped running rendered him almost completely unable to think.
Unable to think about where he was, where he was going, if anyone was still chasing him, or if anyone had even noticed his escape in the first place. None of that mattered. The only thing that mattered was that he had to keep running, he wasn't going back, not ever.
For what felt like hours he was completely undisturbed as he ran. No mercenaries chasing after him, no run-ins with other people, not even the scurrying of nearby wildlife.
Despite these peaceful conditions he kept running. Even as the adrenaline started to wear off and he began to tire. No matter how slow he kept going, exhausted and weak he kept going.
Eventually running turned to jogging, jogging turned to a forced walk, and finally that turned into a long overdue collapse.
As he lay there in the middle of a dirt road panting. He watched the sun begin to peer over the snow capped mountains; another sound began to overtake the sound of his thudding heartbeat that had filled his ears for the past hours. The sound of hooves making their way towards him.
Oh no they caught up to me!
But wait a minute, if they were after him the horses would surely be galloping after him. These were at a slow steady pace. And from the sound of it they were pulling along a large wagon, maybe a carriage.
He gave a large sigh of relief
Thank the gods! I can't even turn my head in the direction it's coming from. let alone get back up and start running.
The horses seemed to stop just behind him before he heard boots hit the ground.
"Hey kid are you alright?" an older man asked, kneeling down in front of him.
He was unable to make out any of his features. His vision had long started blurring. He couldn't even tell whether it was man or mer.
An audible gasp came from the direction of the carriage.
"Gods! Look at his back."
It was a woman seemingly the same age as the man beside him.
He felt a withered hand pull down his tattered shirt.
"By the eight! He's covered in cuts and bruises! Help me lift him on the cart."
"What are we doing with him?" The woman questioned, already hopping down from her seat.
He felt himself being lifted from the ground by his feet and shoulders.
"Riften isn't far, there's a temple there. I'm sure the priests know restoration magic."
He was gently settled in the back of the pair's wagon next to the woman, who had stayed in the back to watch over him.
The wagon began to rock as the horses resumed their duty pulling the wagon.
"Young man, can you hear me? Do you remember your name?"
The woman was now looking down at him speaking in a soft tone so as not to spook him.
"A-Advik, my name's Advik." Was the only thing he managed to get out before sleep took him.
Authors Note
Hello CaptainSarcasm here!
I just want to say a couple of things before you go on to read my story(sorry about the long note).
First off this is my first time writing for an audiance so bear with me. I've always wanted to create stories one way or another so I decided to start with fanfiction as a kind of practice run. That way you guys can give me feedback to help me improve my writing skills before I start writing stories of my own.
Second, please feel free to give any kind of feedback especially if it's negative/criticism. Despite my mild confidence in my abilities I know i'm going to make a lot of mistakes. So because of that I want any kind of critiques or advice you can give me, like I said this is a learning experience for me. Positive things or just random questions about the story are also welcome.
Third is kind of in line with two. I'm not 100% clear on this site's guidelines/rules, so if you see any formatting errors, banned content like violence that is gone too far(even though im pretty sure i'm good on that part), or anything else against the rules be sure to let me know so I can fix it.
Fourth, I am most likely eventually going to have to take minor liberties with the Elder Scrolls lore to be able to tell the story i want to tell, things like inserting original characters into existing characters backstory, or X raised the Dragonborn prior to the events of Skyrim. Nothing too major that I can think of off the top of my head, but if that changes i'll be sure to give you guys a heads up in another authors note.
Fifth, I am very aware that a large portion of the community is morally against the idea of any kind of romance regarding Serana. I completely understand that point of view and considering the obvious reason for it I agree to an extent. I agree that it's a little creepy and pretty messed up when you just mod out the rape victim's ability to reject you with no context or anything. If that being a big part of this story is a turn-off that's fine, I respect your opinion. But even if that is how you feel I ask that you try to bear with it and see where it goes because in my opinion, there are ways to do it in a non-creepy and morally ok fashion. My example is the Serana Dialogue add-on, it doesnt simply remove the rejection dialogue and make her marry you in a way that realisticly would force her to relive the worst moment in her life. My way is not identical but I think it does a pretty good job at not being creepy.
Sixth, I'm not even going to try to set any deadlines for updates, you'll just have to bookmark and check occasionally if you want to keep up. I tried that with weekly uploads/streams on youtube and twitch( captiansarcasm3122 and .tv/captainsarcasam if your interested) and it did not go well.
Last but certainly not least I hope you enjoy my work and have a wonderful day!
