Chapter 4: An Accidental Encounter
.
For the past few days, she had been given several missions on a different part of this vast world. Who would have thought the forests could be so green and blooming with flowers of the most wonderful of colors, while other parts of the same forest could be so dark and creepy. It was thrilling to explore a whole new surrounding, especially when she entered the jewel mines. Oh, how she wished she could take some home, but knew better not to since it wouldn't be right. The mines belonged to the dwarf miners, so unless they offered to give her some, she would just admire their beauty from afar. While missions were fun, those days had to draw to an end. So with her Starlight Keyblade in hand, she opened a portal of light back to Daybreak Town.
Upon her arrival, she walked to the Union's missions office to report her status and deposit the weekly lux earnings. Since there was still some time left in the day, she chose to take a walk around town before curfew. The younger keyblade wielders had a curfew whereas the older ones got to head back home much later.
'They have it nice,' she would always think.
As she walked along the route to the marketplace, she noticed her fellow neighbors were all hustling and bustling about. Decorations were being placed from as high as the roofs to as low as the benches. The booths were being set up and signs were being raised. Others who were painting gleefully chatted amongst themselves about the exciting activities to come. The festival was only a few more days away and pretty soon everyone would be on break from missions. The exception to this rule were those tasked with chaperone duty, safety patrolling, and those working on games, cooking, and whatever other booths needed to be manned. She felt a bit bad for them.
The only information about this festival she got was through Chirithy and the passing words of wielders during missions. From everything she could gather, it was a festival for newcomers such as herself to be welcomed into Daybreak Town. Perhaps this was just the opportunity she needed to get over her shyness. If she could stop her doubtings, then maybe she could approach others and make friends.
Thinking about making friends made her think about the spiky-haired, blue-eyed boy. It had been about a week since she'd seen him and she often wondered, 'Has he made any friends yet? Cause if not, then maybe this festival would be my chance to meet him.'
She didn't know why she took an interest in him. Was it because of his skills in fighting? Was it because of how kind he looked? No, there was something more about him that made her feel comfortable. He seemed like the type to easily make friends with others. Then again, it could have been her own loneliness painting a false picture of how he could be. Well, she could figure it out on the day of the festival, the time she most likely would find him roaming around.
While deep in thought, she continued to walk to her destination not noticing she took a wrong turn. It didn't help that she failed to notice someone running in the opposite direction about to collide into her, also not noticing this person struck her surprisingly hard and they fell on top of one another. It was only when she heard a voice asking if she was okay was when she felt the pain and noticed the person offering a helping hand off the ground.
She blinked and blinked, shaking her head for a bit to see if she was daydreaming. But she wasn't. There in front of her was the very person she was thinking about, spiky-haired boy.
"Hey, are you okay?"
"Huh? Umm… Oh!" She finally answered with a nod.
"Oh, that's good. Sorry, I crashed into you. I was running to complete this mission I was assigned and I didn't see you on the street until it was too late."
"No, it's okay. I get it. I've had some missions that I wanted to finish fast too." She awkwardly smiled at him.
"Well, I gotta run. See ya!" He smiled and waved as he began running past her on his way to the end of the street.
He was leaving, she didn't want that. She couldn't let him go without knowing his name. This opportunity, this little chance meeting, she was not going to let this slip her by.
So with all her might, she shouted as loud as she could, "Oh, wait! What's your name!?"
He was quite far, but fortunately he heard her. Spinning around to face her while running backward he happily shouted, "I'm Sora!"
She shouted back, "And I'm [Insert Name Here]! Let's meet up again soon!" Sora's smile widened and he gave her a thumbs up, then turned back around to continue forward onto his mission for the day.
She had done it, unplanned and awkwardly, but she had done it. She finally talked to the boy and found out his name, Sora. She pinched herself and knew she wasn't dreaming.
"Well, it seems someone's in a good mood."
"Aaah! Chirithy!" She nearly tripped.
"Sorry," Chirithy lowered her head.
"It's okay, just warn me next time please."
"Okay, I will." Chirithy nodded. "So you finally spoke with someone. Was he that spiky-haired boy who caught your interest on his first day here?"
"Oh yes Chirithy, his name is Sora and he was very nice. His eyes are as blue as the sky," she confessed so sweetly.
Chirithy snickered at those comments and decided to tease her wielder, "So, do you like him?"
"Yeah Chirithy," which gave the little cat-like creature a bit of a shock. But she continued, "he's really friendly and maybe whenever we meet again, he and I can be good friends."
Chirithy sighed at the response and whispered something along the lines of, "So young," and, "So innocent," while patting her wielder's back. She's just a young girl, after all, it was probably a bit too much to expect a declaration of a crush right off the bat. If anyone were to look at this Chirithy's personality, they would probably be able to tell she seems to know a thing or two about the adolescent life.
"Well, if you both meet again, I bet you two will be great friends."
"Thanks, Chirithy." She happily smiled.
"Come on now, let's go complete the mission's report for the day and then go home."
"But you already filled it out remember?"
"Oh... yeah, that's right." She sheepishly laughed.
"Then…" she gave a little more thought, "How about we go to the diner cafe or restaurant for dinner?"
"Not going to cook tonight?"
"No, I want to enjoy a little dessert and share it with you."
"With me?"
"Of course, Chirithy! Who else? This is a little treat for both of us to celebrate me talking with someone today."
It was hard to tell if Chirithy emoted with her lips, but the expression in her eyes and the gesture of her paws upon her cheeks told her that she was happy. So they went off to the cafe diner to have fun and celebrate [Insert Name Here]'s accomplishments for finally talking to someone.

Now this OC, I still have yet to come up with a good name for her so I guess I'll leave her as a SI for now. Also if you're wondering if she's going to develop feelings for Sora, I'll spoil you now and say No. As much as her little Chirithy will push Sora and her together, she won't have those feelings. I want to keep Romance to a minimum and focus on building relationships of friendship and trust between Sora & the OC. It's something I want to practice writing for many other stories too.
Though, who's to say she won't have a crush on some other character?
Well, that's all for the updates for now! Hope you enjoyed Sora's Daybreak. If you have any ideas, suggestions, questions, or any comments, feel free to let me know. Thank you so much for reading! See you whenever I update the next chapter! :D
Edit 2022:To this day I just left her name as an insert name, at least till I can come up with something official. So until I do, you get to choose the OC's name.
