Doctor Strange stood atop the Sanctum, making portals and mirror dimensions to trap the Kangs. Scott's suit was destroyed, and he felt too useless to help. His daughter Cassie, however, was one of those who helped in he fight. A few months back, the Young Avengers had been assembled. This team consisted of Ms Marvel, Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, America Chavez, Elijah Bradley, Riri Williams, Cassie Lang, She Hulk, Skaar, along with White Vision (who returned months ago with full knowledge of who and what he was). The team was led by Sam Wilson, the new Captain America. The Wakandans were led by Shuri, M'Baku and Namor, and an army of Asian soldiers, led by Xu Xialing. Shang Chi himself felt quite useless without his rings, but he was successful in taking most of the Kangs in combat.
Immortus was not an idiot. He knew and understood fully well that he had underestimated this universe's heroes.
His projection came before New York once again.
"RETREAT! FALL BACK!!"
The Kangs noticed they were being overrun and did so, getting on their hover crafts and escaping to the massive ship, which seemingly teleported away.
"Who the hell were they?" asked Sam.
"Kangs," replied Scott. "Lemme explain".
On an old, deserted and muddy planet, the bifrost was opened. When it went away, Thor, Loki and Love stood there. A great, ruined temple lay before them.
"The runes of Afaik," said Thor. "They'll help us find what we need."
The trio walked into the temple, and throughout the place there were hundreds of old books stacked on weary shelves.
Thor handed Stormbreaker to Love, and told her to watch for danger. She went to the balcony to watch.
Thor and Loki walked through the shelves, and one title caught Thor's eye that made his heart sink.
"Ragnarok: The Destiny of Asgard."
It reminded him of so many things. Father. Mother. Heimdall. His people. Jane. Loki-
Loki was here beside him. At a sudden turn Thor realized something. He had been tough for so long. In his heart he had lost much. He knew now that he would not lose Loki ever again. He pledged himself not to let him die, or even Love.
Loki saw a fat book on a shelf and looked at it.
"The Runes of Chthon?"
He opened the pages and went through, as Thor looked with him.
"...the only known vessel of this magic is destined to be the Scarlet Witch," read Loki.
"Scarlet Witch?" asked Thor.
Loki nodded. "It would seem her earthly name is... Wanda Maximoff."
"She's on Earth! She's one of the Avengers. She helped us during the battle with Ultron," recalled Thor.
"Thor... what if there's a greater plan at work? Like... Like what if she is destined to kill Kang? You remember what I've told you about the TVA?"
Thor nodded.
"Someone has to control all time and bring peace to the multiverse. What if it's her?"
Thor nodded. "You're right. Love! Come, we need you."
She didn't come.
"Love?"
"You were right!" said a cold, straggly voice in the distance.
Thor held Mjolnir defensively.
"Reveal yourself!"
Loki used his magic to make a figure slowly appear into view from his invisibility.
A figure with a metal mask and a green hood stood there, and he had Stormbreaker in one hand, and Love grasped tightly in the other.
"Let her go!" shouted Thor.
"No. It would seem in coming here you've unleashed me from a spell that was put upon me years ago by four of another universe! Vengeance shall not be in vain, and I thank you."
With that, the bifrost was opened.
Thor leapt at him, but the bifrost sucked the figure up quickly and Thor merely hit the wall.
Loki had a look of absolute dread on his face. He hadn't seen this coming.
