Virtue and Venom: Chapter 29
With Anko and Kakashi
Anko finished dressing Gaara's wounds and placed him flat onto the ground; she pulled out a sealing scroll for prisoners and sealed him inside to ensure his condition doesn't get any worse "ok he's sealed; we have about 3 hours to get him back to Konoha" Anko said looking over to Kakashi.
Kakashi laid Mamushi onto the ground and was shaving the side of her head where the implant was "good; hopefully Ino will be done by that time" Kakashi said. Anko nodded as she looked over at the unconscious forms of Naruto and Sasuke.
"I don't know how to feel about this Kakashi" Anko said "Naruto and Gaara are both biju containers and Sasuke had both his kekkei genkai and the curse mark; now look at them" she said pointing. "All 3 were getting their shit rocked by a single girl for damn near 30 minutes" Anko said and Kakashi nodded.
"I know I understand your worries" Kakashi said as he turned Mamushi's head to her side showing the side he shaved bare "that's why I'm going to use this" Kakashi said opening a scroll showing Anko a diagram of a seal.
"What the hell is that" Anko asked looking at the seal.
"It's a contingency plan for Naruto" Kakashi said making Anko go wide eyed "lord third told me that if Naruto ever went haywire to subdue him and render him unconscious" Kakashi said as he took off his left glove and cut his index finger with a kunai. "This seal could possibly stop the Kyuubi long enough for either him or Jiraya to fix his seal" Kakashi said "I haven't had to use it on him yet; my thought process is if it could work on Naruto it might work on Mamushi" he said as he began to draw the intricate pattern on the side of Mamushi's head.
"And if it doesn't work" Anko asked.
"Then Ino will need to think of a plan fast quick and in a hurry or leave Mamushi's body" Kakashi said "and if she does that then…" Kakashi began but stop not wanting to state the obvious. "I'm sure she can handle it" Kakashi said as he continued drawing.
With Ino
Ino ducked under Mamushi's punch and countered with a kick nailing Mamushi in the jaw making her head jerk up; Mamushi retaliated by grabbing Ino's leg and twisting it to the side taking her to the ground. Mamushi proceeded to put Ino into a leg lock making Ino's leg bend in the wrong direction; Ino grit her teeth in pain as she rolled over and got Mamushi onto her stomach.
Ino bent her leg just enough to sit up and break the leg lock; Ino then broke free and jumped onto Mamushi's back. Ino put Mamushi into a choke hold and lifted her up; Ino began choking Mamushi locking her arms so Mamushi could not break free.
Mamushi cocked her head forward and then brought it back hitting Ino in the nose with the back of her head; Ino felt her nose break as her head jerked back. Mamushi then elbowed Ino in the solar plexus knocking the wind out of Ino and causing Ino to break the hold on Mamushi.
Mamushi reached back and grabbed Ino by her shirt and flung her forward; Ino slammed into the ground and laying flat on her back. Ino opened her eyes and just narrowly avoided a fist coming towards her face; Ino rolled to the side and was now on her hand and knees. Ino proceeded to spin on the ground throwing a kick to Mamushi's face; Mamushi who was kneeling at the time got kicked across the face and was sent toward the ground.
Ino got back up and jumped back to gain some distance; Ino reached up and grabbed her broken nose. Ino reset her broken nose and blew out the blood inside onto the ground 'eww gross; I'm glad no one is here to see me do that' Ino thought.
Mamushi got back to her feet and glared at Ino "you're only delaying the inevitable" Mamushi said "you cannot hope in your wildest dreams to beat me" she said and Ino scowled. "You're nothing but a weak delusional girl trying to be a kunoichi" she said.
"You're right; I am weak" Ino said "I don't have a biju like Naruto and I don't have a kekkei genkai like Sasuke" she said. "But I'm stronger that you" Ino said "because I have the will to see this through to the end" she said as she got back into her taijutsu stance.
"Keep telling yourself that girl" Mamushi said getting into her stance "you can take that will of yours to the grave" she said; Mamushi charged at Ino who waited to engage her.
'Kakashi sensei; if you are working on something, do it fast' Ino thought.
With Anko and Kakashi
"Kami above" Anko said as she stuffed cotton up Ino's nose to stop the bleeding "how the hell is she bleeding she's just been lying here" she said.
"Her jutsu is a double edge sword" Kakashi said "if her 'spiritual body' for lack of better words is injured then her real body receiver the same injury" he said. "Its kind of how the Nara shadow possession jutsu transfers pain if you punch an enemy caught by the jutsu" Kakashi said.
Anko scowled as she looked over Ino's body; there were now several bruises and cuts forming along her arms, face and legs 'damn it' she thought.
"Almost there" Kakashi said as he continued the drawing of the seal "I just need a few more minutes" he said.
Back with Ino
Ino threw a punch at Mamushi who blocked with her arm; Mamushi grabbed onto Ino's arm and pull Ino towards her. Mamushi threw a knee hitting Ino in the gut knocking the wind out of her; Mamushi followed up with an elbow to the back of Ino's neck sending a burning sensation through her entire body. Mamushi spun around and kicked Ino in the face sending her skidding across the ground.
Ino skidded to a halt and got to her knee; Ino reached down and took out several shuriken and threw them at Mamushi. Mamushi easily dodged the attack and charged at Ino; Ino seeing this took out a kunai and braced for the assault.
Ino slashed at Mamushi who avoided the attack and spun around to the other side of Ino; Mamushi reached out and grabbed Ino's kunai pouch and ripped it off her belt. Mamushi reached in and took out a kunai and tossed the pouch off to the side; Ino seeing this began to clash blades with Mamushi who was pushing her back.
Ino blocked the strikes from Mamushi with difficulty as fatigue and pain were slowing her down; Ino once again clashed blades with Mamushi and both kunai locked into each other.
Mamushi reached out with her freehand and grabbed Ino by the head; Mamushi jumped up and drove her knee into Ino's face making it spray blood. Mamushi followed up by sweeping Ino's legs sending her to the ground; Mamushi proceeded to drive down her kunai stabbing Ino in the gut making her cough up blood.
Mamushi then reached over and grabbed Ino's hand holding the kunai and stripped it away; Mamushi stood up looking down at the injured Ino who was fighting to stay conscious. "Pathetic" Mamushi said as she raised up the kunai "time to end this farce" she said.
With Kakashi and Anko
Kakashi finished the seal and spoke "finally" he said as he made a hand seal "hopefully this works" he said as he tapped the seal on Mamushi's head. The seal began to glow and the seal was tattoos into the side of her head.
With Ino
Mamushi was bringing down the kunai to finish off Ino when the sound of glass breaking made her lose her focus; Mamushi turned her head and saw the Mamushi inside the glass tube was now free and running toward her.
"Get away from Ino" Mamushi shouted to her evil counterpart; Mamushi proceeded to tackle her and wrestle the kunai away before she began to beat her evil counterpart. Mamushi threw a flurry of punches and elbows before being kicked off and her evil-self hopping up and chasing after her.
"You should've stayed unconscious" the evil Mamushi said as she kicked Mamushi in the face before punching her in the ribs.
Ino was on the ground barely awake looking at the 2 Mamushi's fighting each other in a vicious taijutsu battle. Ino looked down and saw the kunai sticking out of her and grabbed it; Ino began to slowly pull it out as blood leaked from the wound.
Mamushi punched her evil-self in the face once, then twice, then a third time; as she threw her fourth punch her hand was caught and she was brought forward. The evil Mamushi proceeded to head-butt her in the face making her see stars; Mamushi was then swept off her feet and sent to the ground.
The evil Mamushi hopped on top of the original and began to repeatedly punch her in the face "die you worthless girl" she shouted.
Ino still on the ground grit her teeth as she pulled the kunai out of her body; the pain and blood loss was making her dizzy but she had to stay awake. Ino with one final pull pulled out the kunai and flipped it so she was holding the blade as she could not throw it like normal.
Through shaky vision she looked over and saw Mamushi being beaten by her evil-self; Ino brought back her arm and took aim.
The evil Mamushi punched Mamushi once more before wrapping her hands around the girls neck; she began to strangle Mamushi and seeing the life drain out of her swollen and bruised face. Out of the corner of her eye the evil Mamushi thought she saw something; she looked up for a split second and everything in her left eye went black.
Ino threw the kunai and scored a hit into the evil Mamushi's eye; the evil Mamushi looked on in horror as this one slip up costed her. The evil Mamushi fell to the side as a pool of blood poured out from her injury; Mamushi coughing and gagging sat up and looked over to Ino.
"I-Ino" Mamushi stuttered as she crawled over "INO" he shouted as she got up and ran over; Ino looked up and smiled.
"You're back" Ino said weakly as she raised up her hand and made a hand sign "see you soon" she said with a bloody smile. "Kai" she shouted.
Back with Kakashi and Anko
Ino woke up coughing and clutching her stomach in pain "holy shit" Ino said; just as she said that all the pain she felt in her 'spiritual body' came rushing in and she began to writhe in pain. "Oh god it hurts" Ino shouted.
"Ino" Kakashi shouted as he and Anko ran over "are you ok; what happened" he asked frantically; Ino looked at Kakashi with a weak smile.
"Mission accomplished sensei" Ino said making Kakashi and Anko go wide eyed.
"Oww… my head" Mamushi whined as she sat back up; Mamushi looked around as saw the scarred battlefield, her wide-eyed sensei and an injured Naruto and Sasuke "oh my god" she said holding her hand to her mouth. Tears began to stream down her cheeks as she turned to Anko "w-what did I do" she whimpered out; Anko ran over and wrapped her in a hug.
"It's ok, it's ok; it's over now" Anko cried as she held the sobbing girl "lets just go home" he said as she broke the hug and Mamushi nodded.
"I'll carry Ino" Mamushi said as she walked over and looked down at Ino "I'm sorry" Mamushi sobbed out; however, Ino only chuckled. "Ino" Mamushi said questioningly.
"You're not wearing any pants… weirdo" Ino chucked; Mamushi looked down and blushed.
"Oh…whoopsie" Mamushi said wiping her tears; Anko came up and wrapped her trench coat around Mamushi's lower half.
"Let's go" Anko said and Mamushi nodded; Mamushi picked up Ino, Kakashi picked up Naruto and Anko picked up Sasuke.
All six of them left the scarred valley behind to return to Konoha for medical attention; as they did so a figure popped out of the ground just out of sight.
"Such destructive power" the white part of Zetsu said "Lord Pein will be very interested in this" the black half of Zetsu said; Zetsu proceeded to go back into the ground to report the battle he just witnessed.
