The bar bustled with life around Dean Winchester as he sat by himself, staring down at his nearly empty glass. His shoulders were heavy. They were weighed down by the ever-growing weight of the world pushing down on them. The burden of this war he wanted nothing to do with, Sam, Lucifer, Michael… all of it making it heavier to carry. Every time he thought it couldn't get worse, life had a funny way of proving him wrong. Just once he needed a win. He needed something good.

The thirty-year-old hunter's soul yearned for peace, but he knew better. It wasn't in the cards for him.

A pair of blue-gray eyes watched him from across the bar, observing his every move. She knew he would be there tonight, she'd been following him for days now. She was certain he was the one.

He was Tospathi.

She stood up and made her way over to him so that she was standing nearly two feet from his seat.

"Rough day?"

Dean turned his head to meet her eyes and she was pleasantly surprised by how handsome he was up close.

"Something like that." He replied.

She turned her head so a piece of her neatly curled brown hair fell from her shoulder to her back as she took the seat beside his.

"I'm Dean,"

"Athena. Can I buy you a drink?" she asked, and he furrowed his eyebrows teasingly.

"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?"

"You were taking too long. Whiskey?"

"Yes ma'am." he chuckled, causing her to smile. She was beautiful and confident, driving Dean crazy. He couldn't quite put his finger on it but there was something about her that just drew him to her like a magnet. A gold necklace hung around her neck catching Dean's eye for a moment. It resembled an old coin with an owl on it.

"Make that two," Athena told the bartender and the hunter lifted his gaze to meet hers, not wanting to be caught staring at her chest. Not yet at least.

"So...Athena, what brings you here tonight?"

"Oh, you know, just passing through, I'm headed to Minnesota tomorrow."

"Minnesota? You live there?"

"No, just a temporary thing. I don't really live anywhere at the moment." Athena replied, taking a sip of her drink.

"Me neither actually. My brother and I live on the road."

"Oh do you?" She pretended to wonder, despite knowing that already.

"What do you do?" She added and noticed the way he hesitated momentarily.

"We're kinda like exterminators I guess. You wouldn't believe what's in people's attics."

"I can only imagine." She laughed lightly, making him smile.

"What do you do?" He asked, leaning a bit closer.

"I'm unemployed currently, taking time to see the world after working so much in the past. I got a change in perspective."

"How so?"

"When you've grown up doing something your whole life, it's difficult to picture anything different. I realized though, that if anything was going to change it had to be me, so I did. I stepped back and saw reality with my own eyes and could no longer stand for it. Now here I am, far, far away speaking to you." She told him, keeping eye contact as she sipped from her glass.

"Well, I'm glad you are."

Dean slammed the door shut with his foot as they entered Athena's hotel room, barely separating to remove their clothes. She had been surprised at how easy this had been so far but remained focused. This had to work because she wouldn't get another chance. As he kissed her neck she looked at the clock on the wall, taking note of the time.

11:49 pm

The spell was to take effect at 12am on the dot. She pulled away from him and shoved him down on the bed before grabbing the hem of her shirt and pulling it over her head. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer so that she was straddling him.

After 16 hundred years of searching, it was finally time. It was time for the end.
