DISCLAIMER I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING IN THIS STORY
Note: I know it's been forever. I am so sorry guys. I'm in the process of moving and I had just reopened my business and had more feedback than I thought I would. So in this chapter were going to see the groups point of view and then I'm going to do a bonus chapter with Hawke's point of view. (I thought the groups would be more interesting because there's more going on.)
Seeing the look on Fenris's face he quickly amended.
"But I will try my best. Just know though I do not do this for you."
Not waiting to hear his reply, he turned to Marian and seeing him begin to heal her Fenris closed his mouth and bit back what he'd been about to say. When he saw Anders begin to remove her robes his markings flared once more and he moved next to him before shoving his hands aside and growling.
"I'll do it."
Glaring at him silently for a moment Anders finally backed down and turned back to Marian before closing his eyes in concentration. As the moments passed and he grew paler and paler and finally he spoke weakly.
"I know we hate each other but we both love Hawke. We can agree on that at least right? That neither of us want to see her die?"
Fenris nodded but remained silent. Anders sighed heavily before speaking again.
"Everyone else is keeping your son away from Hawke. I need your help."
Instantly Fenris shook his head and opened his mouth to speak but Anders cut him off.
"If you want me to save her life I need your help."
Knowing he didn't have the time to argue especially when he looked down at the blood coating Anders hands and running down to the carpet he finally nodded and said.
"Only for Marian would I ever help the likes of you."
Listening to his instructions Fenris called for Bodhan and Sandal to bring fresh water and he carefully began to wipe clean her cuts and injuries shielding her body from Anders gaze before gently laying her down once more. Hours passed and Anders had continued to heal her taking potions as Fenris handed them to him and finally he sank back pale as a ghost and said.
"That's all I can do."
Looking at Marian carefully Fenris turned to him and said.
"When will she wake up?"
He shook his head before saying.
"Her body has been through massive trauma and I'm healing her rapidly beyond what her body would. As of right now I would say she's in a coma like state. Her body needs to rest."
Fenris said nothing silently accepting before finally asking.
"Will she live?"
Anders shook his head once more.
"I don't know."
Fenris looked at Marian for a long moment before turning back to Anders. Seeing his head droop he cleared his throat and called for Sebastian and Aveline. Not a moment later they bounded in and looked at Fenris first questioningly then incredulous when he asked them to take Anders to a room to rest. Seeing their expressions he reminded them that he was the only healer in the mansion besides Hawke and she obviously could not heal herself. Nodding at his logic they took him away and he heard their footsteps grow softer and softer.
Taking Marian's hand as gently as he could he squeezed it gently before saying softly.
"I don't know if you can hear me, but I could never hate you. Or him. He needs you Marian. Come back to us please."
Hearing a soft knock on the door he turned his head sharply, annoyed that his moment had been interrupted until he noticed who it was. Carver stuck his head inside the door and said quietly.
"Leto's asking for you."
After another long moment he added.
"And his mother."
There was silence for what seemed like hours until finally he looked from Marian to Carver and nodded slowly. She was clean and covered now out of her bloody clothes and together they'd managed to move her to the bed without further harming her. To the naked eye they would think she was sleeping. It was only the blood on the carpet that told the truth. Walking to the chest by her bed he pulled out an old torn blanket and placed it over the carpet to hide the blood as best he could before nodding to Carver.
He disappeared for a moment before reappearing with Leto in his arms. Setting him down gently he lingered for a moment and when Fenris didn't say anything stayed in the doorframe. Leto was silent as he walked to his mother before turning around and punching Fenris in the chest as hard as he could while screaming loud enough to wake the dead.
"YOU PROMISED ME! YOU PROMISED ME YOU AND MOTHER WOULD BE OKAY! YOU PROMISED ME! SHE'S BARELY BREATHING! YOUR SUPPOSED TO PROTECT HER! WHY WEREN'T YOU THERE FOR HER! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!"
Fenris said nothing letting his son get his pain out and as the punches became more aggressive he was silently thankful he'd taken off his armor when he was helping Anders or his son would be bloody. Finally he collapsed against his father's chest silently crying and Fenris felt all the guilt and pain he'd been feeling since Marian first healed him hit like a tidal wave. He said nothing letting the guilt wash over him until he heard a shaky voice at the door.
"Its not Fenris's fault. He told her to stop healing him. He didn't want it because he knew it would make her weaker. She didn't listen to him."
Glaring silently for a long moment he began to yell again.
"Where is that bastard? He should be healing her and instead he's napping!"
It was Isabela who spoke this time.
"He's done what he can kitten. He can only do so much the rest is up to Hawke."
Turning his back on the group he sat next to Fenris and gently took his mother's hand. Finally he turned back to his father tears still falling before whispering.
"She said she'd be fine. She can't leave me."
Offering Leto his hand he said quietly.
"She will come back to you. She'd never leave you."
Leto said nothing opting instead to place his head next to his mother's hand. The group had remained silent until Carver spoke to Fenris seeing the pain in his eyes. He'd realized that Leto's words had cut deep and he knew he felt guilty.
"It wasn't your fault Fenris."
He nodded once still not speaking and Carver sighed despondently before hanging his head only looking up when Isabela placed her head on his shoulder. Merrill had been silently weeping on Varric's shoulder and Donnic and Aveline had been quietly speaking rapidly though no one else could here. No one entered the room though save for Carver in the door. It wasn't until the sun set that the silence was finally broken once more by Leto.
"Can she hear me?"
Fenris thought for a minute before nodding.
"I think that's very possible. It may make her feel better."'
He nodded before thinking for another moment and saying quietly.
"Fenwis."
Fenris looked at him eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Smiling Leto spoke again.
"My first word. It was Fenwis."
Fenris offered a small smile before his face softened. Leto took this as encouragement and continued.
"My first steps were at seven months and my first laugh was apparently when I was two weeks old. Mother said I saw Sandal swinging from the chandelier."
Fenris let out a small laugh surprising both himself and Leto before adopting his usual serious expression. Undeterred and encouraged that he'd caused such a reaction Leto continued.
"My first time picking up a sword was when I was two. Scared mother half to death. She said I was swinging it like a staff. It was a wooden sword she'd found on one of her journeys. The first time I tried using my powers I destroyed half the library. Mother almost cried. I felt so guilty."
Fenris spoke gently.
"I didn't know that was because of you although I was grateful. At the time she was teaching me to read. It irritated me more than I'd like that she kept handing me volumes that I couldn't read or that bored me to tears."
Leto frowned slightly before shaking his head not responding for a long while until finally he said.
"Father?"
Fenris turned his head giving him his full attention.
"I'm afraid father. Please help me not to be."
It was Fenris's turn to falter because although he'd never say it he was afraid too.
so that's it for now but I promise I'll have another update within the week! There's going to be a couple chapters of the group view before Hawkes. I know that Fenris was less mean to Anders and vise versa but Fenris and Anders will always hate each other. But Fenris loves Marian deeply and wants her to live so that's why he helped Anders. Which comes back to bite him in the butt in the next chapter so stick around and please review!
