DISCLAIMER: I OWN NOTHING

Note: I apologize for not updating. I haven't had any internet so I wasn't able to. In this chapter its going to be Hawke's point of view in her coma. As said in the previous chapter I have done extensive research and what she's going to experience has only ever happened in very rare instances. Her condition when she's asleep and then awake is only in two cases that I found.

Marian couldn't feel anything but pain and couldn't hear anything but distortion. Her brain was fogged and clouded and she was unable to open her eyes. Feeling panic and dread fill her entire body she wondered for a moment if she was dead. After a moment of trying to think about her situation she calmed slightly when realizing if she could feel pain then she couldn't have died and must still be alive. Her chest burned and ached with the effort she was exerting trying to breathe. Her breath was coming in short pants and when she tried to sit up she felt her panic return when she realized it was impossible. Her body wouldn't move at all. Her mind was telling it to but it was unable to respond. Knowing that if she could cry she would she focused her energy on trying to be able to think. She felt her pain lesson slightly and felt a calming sense begin to surround her and she wondered once more what was going on.

Feeling hands on her she realized that although she didn't know who the belonged to she didn't want them touching her. They felt wrong on her body and she wanted them gone. Her wish was soon granted when she felt the hands being slapped away and a strange tingling feeling envelope her. It was different than the calming feeling she had felt before. This felt dangerous. Alive. Strangely she wasn't afraid. Hearing a familiar voice she felt peace.

"I'll do it."

She knew this voice but was devastated when she realized she couldn't place it. She knew who this was, she knew she did. What had happened to her that she couldn't remember? Had she been in an accident? It was clear that she had been injured, otherwise she would've been able to remember what had happened. She would be able to place the man's voice. It was deep and upon hearing it she felt love and longing in her chest. Was she involved with the man with the voice? Feeling the calming sense once more and felt her pain begin to lessen again and her breathing became a little easier. After a long moment she heard a voice speak softly and very weak. She immediately wished she could help though she knew with her body not functioning there was no way she could.

"I know we hate each other but we both love Hawke. We can agree on that at least right? That neither of us want her to die?"

Hearing this she grew even more confused. Who was Hawke? Was she Hawke? Why would her parents name her after a bird and why were both of these men in love with her? She realized she knew this voice as well. Unlike the first voice it didn't bring her peace. It brought a sense of anger and mixed emotion. She wanted to trust this voice but something deep in her heart knew instinctively that she couldn't. Not completely. Hearing the second man speak again she focused what little energy she had into listening. The calming sense that she had felt hadn't helped the distortion in her ears much but she was able to hear what the man was saying.

"Everyone else is keeping your son away from Hawke. I need your help."

Son?! This Hawke they were talking about had a son! She hadn't heard any other voices in the room so this made her wonder if they were talking about her. As far as she knew she knew she was a woman. She could sense it. Since she hadn't heard anyone else she also assumed that they were indeed talking about her. She couldn't remember having a son. This thought made her heart feel as if it was being crushed. What kind of mother couldn't remember her own child? The second voice was growing impatient now.

"If you want me to save her life I need your help."

Only hearing a second's pause this time she heard the first man speak again.

"Only for Marian would I ever help the likes of you."

Marian. He had said that word differently. There was a softness there that hadn't been there before. Thinking for a moment she realized something. If she was the woman they were talking about before and the child was hers she must be Marian. So her last name must be Hawke not her first. Hearing the man speak again she heard him call for someone named Bodhan and another person named Sandal. Hearing the two new voices she wished she could smile. The younger of the two was saying something about an enchantment while the older voice was agreeing to get water and cloths. Hearing them return only moments later she felt cool water being applied to her and she felt herself relax. Feeling the air hit her bare body she began to feel nervous before feeling gentle hands turning her. Feeling grateful she realized she was being shielded from the other people in the room. She also realized that the hands now touching her were not the ones she felt before. These hands were familiar and she wished they would always touch her and never stop only reaffirming her earlier thoughts about being possibly involved with this man. Did that also mean he was the father of her child?

Feeling the calming waves return to her she began to lose her sense of time but she knew that they must have been with her for at least a few hours. In that time she felt her breathing become easy enough so that her chest was only irritated instead of an ache. Her hearing became less distorted and she felt the pain in her body lessoning with each passing second. She was still in pain and knew that it wouldn't be over anytime soon but she did feel well enough to sleep. She felt unconsciousness closing in on her but hearing the men speak again she forced herself to hang on.

"That's all I can do."

"When will she wake up?"

Hearing the voice that made her heart flutter speak she wished she could answer him. She was awake! She was! She didn't understand why she couldn't communicate but she was awake!

"Her body had been through a massive trauma and I'm healing her rapidly beyond what her body would. As of right now I would say she's in a coma like state. Her body needs to rest."

A coma? But in a coma she knew she would not be able to be coherent. In a coma once they reach unconsciousness they remained as such until they woke up. What was happening to her?

"Will she live?"

She realized that she too was waiting for the answer this time and felt herself lose what little hope she had at his answer.

"I don't know."

She heard the men go silent before she heard the first voice calling to others and heard footsteps entering. Listening carefully she realized that the one they called Anders was being taken away to another room to rest. The others had seemed surprised that he had told them to do so and she heard him refer to Anders as a healer. She wasn't entirely sure what that meant but she knew he must've made her pain partially stop so despite her reservations she was grateful. When the room had fallen silent she felt the only remaining man squeeze her hand. Instantly she felt hot and she knew that if she could she would probably have a slight blush staining her cheeks.

"I don't know if you can hear me, but I could never hate you. Or him. He needs you Marian. Come back to us please."

Concentrating she tried as hard as she could to squeeze back. To let him know that she could hear him and she was there. She could feel his love and knew that he cared. She could feel it. A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts serving to frustrate and upset her but she forced it aside hearing a new voice.

"Leto's asking for you."

Leto. Leto...That name was so familiar yet she couldn't place it either. Leto...feeling her anger at herself rising again she silently wished she could understand what the hell was going on? Why did this happen to her?

"And his mother."

That was the voice of a friend. She'd heard this voice in her childhood. Did she have a brother? She hated this! Her whole world was gone. In one moment her entire world was gone. She was stuck inside herself with no way to communicate with anyone. Screams broke through her thoughts and she tried once again to hold on to consciousness though it was becoming more and more difficult.

"YOU PROMISED ME! YOU PROMISED ME YOU AND MOTHER WOULD BE OKAY! YOU PROMISED ME! SHE'S BARELY BREATHING! YOUR SUPPOSED TO PROTECT HER! WHY WEREN'T YOU THERE FOR HER! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!"

Guilt instantly racked her body. He was her son. He had to be. She hadn't heard a single woman's voice and she knew she was the only woman in this area they were in. Her state was hurting her child which made her feel terrible. That she couldn't even remember him made her feel worse. She heard soft punches being thrown and heard the soft cries of her child. If the tears could've fallen from her eyes she would be crying right along with her son but she could not.

"Its not Fenris's fault. He told her to stop healing him. He didn't want it because he knew it would make her weaker. She didn't listen to him."

Hearing another female voice was slightly reassuring to her as she was beginning to wonder why there were so many men. This voice had a sultry edge but she could tell that this voice cared for her too. Then she focused on what she had said. Fenris. Hearing that name brought familiar feelings as well. Stronger than any other name she had heard yet. The girl she had heard had said someone had healed him. Had it been her?

"Where is that bastard? He should be healing her and instead he's napping!"

"He's done what he can kitten. He can only do so much the rest is up to Hawke."

Feeling a very small hand squeeze hers. She felt a rush of familiarity but this time she could almost see an image in her head. She saw a quick flash but it was enough. She saw a pair of innocent green eyes. Trying and failing to hold on to the image she felt sleep overtake her never realizing they were still speaking.

When she awoke she couldn't tell if it was day or night. She still couldn't move and couldn't open her eyes. She was still trapped. It seemed the only thing she could do is listen to the others and see if her body would wake up. Trying not to let her sorrows get the better of her she told herself not to lose hope.

"I never got to tell her how much I love her. I used to be an ass, but I really grew up you know? I could see her and I being as close as her and Bethany. Bethany doesn't even know. How are we going to get word to her? I don't even want to see Cullen. If I see him I'll kill him.

Hearing the new names brought similar feelings as the others but this time she refused to let herself be sad. She knew she would remember. It was only a matter of time. She told herself that she had to hold on to that. It was all she had.

"He didn't have a choice. You could tell when he was fighting us he wasn't going even half speed and if he hadn't ordered a retreat Marian really would've died."

"It wasn't your fault. You told her to stop."

"I know, but that's Marian for you always doing the stupid thing."

Feeling indignant she tried opening her mouth to argue but quickly remembered that she could not. After thinking for a moment she wondered why she would feel indignant but then realized no one would like being called stupid.

"She didn't want to leave her son without a father and…You know she wouldn't have wanted to live in a world without you. She would've for Leto, but we both know there was no way she could've stopped herself from trying to save you. It wasn't in her not to try."

She was involved with the first man and the child's name was Leto! She knew she knew that name! She had saved her child's father. It seemed that she did help people which would explain her desires to help the voices from before but it only fueled her hurt at not being able to remember. She wished she could speak if only to learn more.

"That didn't help did it?"

"But it was needed."

The room grew quiet once more and this time it was only interrupted by the sound of new footsteps meaning more people were entering. She heard a man and a woman discussing leaving the house unguarded and after a few moments she heard more footsteps and deduced that they had brought everyone into the same area. During this time she felt her body temperature rising and knew she must be sweating. She felt her blankets being moved and heard arguing once more and wished she could place her fingers to her head. These two voices were making her head hurt. Feeling the unwelcome touch that she had felt yesterday she wished she could remove the fingers from her body. It didn't give her the pleasure the other touch did.

"She's running a fever. I need you to help me give her a potion."

Feeling new fingers on her and recognizing the touch she liked she felt her head being tilted. Feeling a cool liquid slide down her throat she felt heavy as she felt herself being laid back down on the sheets.

"If her fever persists throughout the day you'll want to bathe her in cool water to try and lower her body temperature. I know you won't let me anywhere near her to do it."

Feeling the potions effect she felt her body fall into black once more not realizing how much time was passing or how she was scaring her friends.

"ENCHANTMENT!"

Hearing the scream she felt herself come to. She still couldn't move but she had heard the scream and felt awake though she wondered if she was or if it was a dream. She heard a child giggle and begin talking and realized it wasn't.

"The night I was born it was a dark and stormy night and you were stuck in bed. You scared Orana and Bodhan because they didn't know what to do so you had to be strong. Bodhan was trying to get you to a healer but you were stubborn mother. You said I can handle it myself I know what to do. It was getting darker and darker and they kept bringing you water and keeping you cool and you were trying to be quiet so no one would hear because I was precious and you didn't want anyone discovering me. Then in the morning when the sun came up and the rain stopped I was here. Sandal took me from Orana and pretended I was his baby and walked with me throughout the mansion and you were getting mad and tried to follow before Bodhan managed to get me into your arms. You wanted to hold me you held me for the first time you said. I'll love and protect you forever. You're the most important and precious gift I've ever been given. I love you Leto. My name means summer mother said. She said the sun came out right as I was born. She also said she knows why your mother decided to name you Leto father."

"Why didn't your mother go to Anders?"

"Mother said that she couldn't tell anyone she had a son. She said that people would hurt her friends if they knew because of mother being the Champion. The bad people who want to hurt her would try to hurt me she didn't want you all to get hurt protecting I would have been mad at mother if she told all of you without telling father and she wouldn't have asked you to lie and no offence to…Anders but I think my mother is a better healer."

Marian didn't know what to think about the story that she had just heard. If she was involved with someone why would she not have at least told him? Why had she hidden her son from his father and what did he mean when he said she was the champion? It seemed the more time past and the more she heard the more questions she had. Never any answers just questions. Hearing the start of another story she knew if she was able to move her body she would be laughing with the group of people she heard and her stomach would be aching from the fun. As she thought this another thought entered her mind. She didn't know why but she didn't think that she was the type to laugh freely very often.

Feeling someone touching her skin she realized it was her son. He was telling his father that her skin was too hot. She felt herself being lifted and placed in a cool tub and felt her body being bathed. She recognized the touch and had no fear, she only wished that the water wasn't so cold as she could almost feel herself shivering. He must have noticed too because she heard him swear softly before lifting her out and drying her. She could feel the coldness of the floor then the comfort of a bed and knew she was back where she was before which offered her a strange sense of comfort.

"Leto misses you. He's afraid and….I'm…afraid. Marian I don't know if you can hear me but I know you're in there. I know you are. You have to come back to me. I can't do this without you. I've never said I love you to anyone before, but I would say it to you Marian. Please wake up."

Hearing these words she tried as hard as she could to open her eyes or move her fingers. Something, anything to let him know he heard her. They were in love. She was sure that she had said those words before but she was just as sure that she had never heard the words returned. She wished that she could remember who he was just so she could see his face. She wanted him to know that she was there. She could feel him and she wanted him to feel her.

After he had grown quiet she had gone under once more only this time when she woke she didn't realize if hours, days or longer had passed. She was losing a sense of time and that along with everything else was hurting her. She could hear the group talking again and speculating when she'd wake up which only made her more unhappy because she was beginning to wonder if she'd ever be herself again. Hearing her son scream she pulled herself out of her mind and forced herself to pay attention.

"I…I didn't mean it mother. I don't hate you! I was just mad because father left and if you had told him about me we could have been a family much sooner and I'm sorry mother! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Just wake up mother! I'll never be mean again. I promise! I just want her to wake up."

It was when she heard things like this that she tried with all her might to move even a fraction but as before when she tried she could not. She felt the room grow quiet and as with previous days they had left and gone out of the room. It seemed that they were always leaving and only her son and...what did she even call him? Were they married? When she felt wetness hitting her face and slowly realized he was crying. He was shedding tears for her.

Focusing all her might she silently willed her body to work. Just the smallest movement. Anything to comfort him. Feeling him intertwine there fingers she gave it all she had and concentrated every bit of energy she had into just trying to move her fingers. She poured all the love she had into this one tiny motion and wanted to scream for joy when she felt her fingers squeeze back. It was the barest of touches and only lasted one second but she knew he felt it. She didn't know how but she just knew he did. Hearing his voice confirmed it he was desperately trying to wake her and try as she might she couldn't replicate the movement.

She heard him calling her name over and over becoming more and more distressed and it was breaking her heart feeling his pain. After hearing others come back into the room she heard him explaining that she was getting better. Maybe he didn't believe that she had really touched him. After hearing him make another excuse she heard new voices urging him to sleep. They said that he'd been awake for four days. So he'd been sitting by her side for the entire time she'd been incapacitated. This made her feel happy. That was one of the sweetest things she had heard.

Hearing a new question she began listening carefully trying to gauge his answer so she would know if she had been right or wrong.

"Did something happen with Hawke?"

After a pregnant pause he answered.

"I felt her squeeze my hand but she didn't respond to anything I tried and it was so brief. I didn't want have you all lose hope seeing her unresponsive after I told you I got a response by her squeezing back."

This time it was a Scottish brogue she heard.

"Are you sure that's what you felt? I've never heard of someone in her state being able to respond to outside stimulation. Once their unconscious they can't respond."

There was no reply and she felt a rustling before realizing that the man was going to sleep. She felt relief at this, especially after hearing that he had been awake for four days. When she noticed his breathing even out she realized he must be asleep. She heard her son speaking rapidly with two other men and realized they must be playing before she heard a new voice. It sounded like the one they called a healer. She felt him feel her forehead and knew he was checking for injuries but her suspicions immediately spiked when she felt him lean down against her ear and begin whispering.

"I am sorry I was not there to protect you Hawke. When my plan comes to fruition Meredith will see the light. The mages will be free and you and I won't have to fight anymore. I will lead a revolution with you by my side and together we'll bring in a new era for the mages. They will all see or they'll pay with their lives. I will remove all compromise because their is no compromise."

Brushing his fingers against the side of her face she wished she could flinch away. There was something very wrong with this man and while she didn't know what he was planning she knew she had to stop him. Feeling his fingers against her cheek once more she felt him pull away and she felt her body relax. She knew that no matter what it took she had to find someway to let the father of her child know of this mans plan.

"I DID IT!"

Hearing her son yell she wondered what exactly it was he had done but hearing his father speak she learned exactly what was going on.

"Your teaching my son lock picking?"

"Don't you blame uncle Varric. It was my idea. Uncle Sebastian said no and aunt Isabela was downstairs."

"You can be the one to tell Marian dwarf."

If she could she would have laughed at her son's stubbornness and the reply that followed.

"We should try to get her to drink another potion."

Upon hearing this she felt herself being gently lifted and her head being tilted back only this time she felt her hand being clutched and being held to a strong chest. She could feel a solid heartbeat under the muscle she felt. Feeling her body relax she mentally scolded her self. She had to find a way to let him know what she had heard and if she had managed to move before she could do it again. She had already begun to feel the potions effect and in the past couple of days had been regaining strength and remembering what she had heard she began to panic again. Using all the strength she had she tried to move her hand like she had before and after feeling nothing focused all of her strength into moving her hands and was delighted when it worked.

Feeling better than she had in days she felt her eyes begin to flutter and this time when she tried they shot open. Looking up she saw a man with white hair and strange markings but wasn't afraid of him. She was afraid of what she had heard and now she was afraid because she was seeing all new sights. At least for her. She still didn't remember. Hearing glass break she turned to see someone had dropped a bottle and was staring at her with wide eyes. Feeling distressed she turned back to the white haired man she asked.

"Where am I?"

And that's all for now. In the research I came across there was at least 5 recorded events of someone being fully awake inside when they were in a coma to the point where they could remember everyone visiting and the doctors orders but in 2 cases they had amnesia when they came out of it. I took creative liberty and made her forget while she was under. I hope you liked this chapter and please review.
