Chapter One
Scorpius
"Scorp," one of his dads knocked at the door. "Hey, can I come in?"
"Yeah," Scorp responded sullenly.
His dad's worried face and pinched blue eyes coming around the side of the door instantly made Scorpius anxious and he jumped up. "What's wrong?"
"I need you to stay calm and bring the intensity down a notch," his dad made a downward hand motion, "Because Albus is downstairs and something has happened."
"Albus? But how? What's happened? Is he alright?" Scorpius asked, really trying to stay calm, but unable to reign in the warring emotions.
"He's hurt and your mother is checking him out now, but something rather serious has happened besides that. Rose Weasley outed you and Albus to his whole family and he's very distraught. You need to help him calm down while your mom heals him and then we can figure out what to do next. So you need to be really calm. Do you think you need to occlude? I know you and Draco have been working on it."
Scorpius' mind was in a whirl. He didn't know what to think. His parents knew that he was gay and that Albus was his boyfriend as did most of Slytherin, but as his fathers always said that Slytherin was the queerest of the when such things weren't acceptable at home, it was one of the few things that happened in the dormitories that didn't get reported home. If Rose had told all the Weasleys then all the other Houses would know before the train even got them back to Hogwarts.
"Take me to Albus," Scorpius requested. "I'll stay calm and figure out exactly what happened."
James
James stumbled through the floo into the Granger-Malfoy-Nott parlour and wasn't surprised to find Ms. Hermione (because despite her requesting he call her Hermione he just couldn't do it, it would be like calling his mum Ginny) looking at him.
"Is Albus okay?" James asked immediately before she could even speak.
The older woman sighed. "Oh James, thank the gods it's you. Come on, Albus is in the other room. What happened to his ankle?"
"Rose happened," James gritted out. "Did she really hurt him?"
"I was just getting ready to run a healing diagnostic on him and see. It looks like it hurts alot." She was already heading back the way she came as she started to talk and James was left to hurry after her.
Mr. Malfoy had propped Albus' ankle up with a pillow and was sitting next to the couch, stroking his hair soothingly like James had seen him do to Cassie or one of the twins when they were hurt. James felt a little squeeze of jealousy around his heart. Lyra and Scorpius really had great parents. His dad had never been especially touchy and the Weasley side of the family touched you whether you wanted it or not and the hugs didn't always feel very loving. They felt obligatory, like a demand.
James was filled with so much anger at the moment he wasn't sure he ever wanted to see most of his mum's family ever again. He wasn't sure that he wanted to see his mum either. She'd just let Rose hurt his brother and all James felt was a burning rage at her. It was a terrifying first. He'd only ever been annoyed with his mum; he'd never felt livid with her.
Did that mean he was a bad son?
He wasn't sure that he cared just then as long as he wasn't a bad brother.
Albus
Albus was so grateful that Scorpius was finally there. Albus tried not to cry when Scorpius gave him a look that let him know that he was concerned about whether Albus was alright, but wasn't going to ask yet. Albus wanted to wrap his arms around his boyfriend with a kind of desperation that he had never felt before. He was so scared about what the repercussions of today would be.
Would his family try to stage some kind of intervention and attempt to convince him to be straight? Or if not straight, then to fancy a boy from a good Gryffindor family instead of Scorpius Malfoy-Nott? None of his extended family had ever liked his boyfriend, not even when he had only been Albus' friend. They certainly weren't going to like him as the person that Albus dreamed of spending the rest of his life with.
His leg hurt, but Hermione was there only moments after Scorpius had arrived. Scorpius had been trying to be quietly supportive, not asking any questions, just soothing Albus with his touch and his presence. Everything felt better and easier when Scorpius was near. Albus had shared that with Theo and Draco once and they'd just smiled at each other. Albus didn't know if he wanted to share a witch, but there were worse things than having a marriage like the Malfoy-Notts.
Albus squeezed Scorpius' hand tightly because his boyfriend looked so worried.
"I've only hurt my ankle, Scorp," Albus forced out, a small false smile on his lips to disguise the pain. "I'll be fine."
"Yes, you will be," Hermione promised.
When Albus looked up behind Hermione who was healing his ankle with a precision that he hadn't ever seen at St. Mungo's, James stood there pale and concerned. Albus hissed as Hermione's spell worked to heal the interior bruise and James rushed forward to stand at Albus' shoulder.
"Is everything okay, Al?" James asked in concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine, you mother hen," Albus bit out, because it was actually hurting quite a bit as he was healed. "Scorp's already got holding my hand covered. Why don't you go tell your girls what happened? You all got outed in public too." Draco, who was stroking his hair, froze.
"Your girls are upstairs," Scorpius threw out in annoyance. "I've got taking care of my boyfriend under control here."
Hermione had a small smile playing around her mouth and was trying not to look at Draco. Albus realised in horror that they hadn't told any of their parents about the triad and he had just let the kneazle out of the cloak. What a dunderhead he was!
"Fuck, sorry James," Albus apologized, and started to say more when he saw that Hermione was trying to keep from laughing as she healed his muscles and tendons on the back of his leg. The sensation felt like electricity going through him. "Hermione? Draco?"
Draco chuckled softly. "Don't worry too much. I just owe Theo some galleons. You know that you never have to worry about us being supportive, right boys?"
"We know, dad," Scorpius replied. "I honestly forgot you didn't know about the girls and Jamie boy."
"We very strongly suspected," Hermione smiled, checking Albus' diagnostic again and looking pleased at the colours that she was seeing. "Well, luckily you aren't big on Quidditch because you need to stay off that ankle for at least a week. Longer would be better."
Albus nodded and looked at Scorpius. "Well, that's the excuse that I've been dreaming of."
"Me too, love," Scorpius whispered, running a hand along Albus' cheek.
"Come on, James," Hermione said, rising. "Let's go floo call your dad and leave these two alone. Draco, can you go get something for Albus to eat? He needs something with alot of protein to help the muscles heal."
"Ooh," Draco said in excitement. "Do you want one of my workout smoothies?" Albus tried not to laugh when Hermione rolled her eyes as she escorted James from the really did.
"That would be great Mr. Malfoy - Draco," Albus managed to get out before falling into hysterical giggles, pressing his face into Scorpius' chest and taking a deep breath of his boyfriend's scent to try to calm himself down.
Draco patted Albus on the shoulder and Scorpius on top of the head, earning him an annoyed "Dad!"
The boys could hear Draco as he chuckled all the way into the kitchen.
