This is the first one shot in a bit of prequel-esque one shots that will lead up to a manga version of the Orichalcos arc from YGO!. I was inspired to make a manga based arc by both Kohaku no hime (mostly because of her one shot series dedicated to the swordsmen, plus their characterization in The Princess and the Dragon is just awesome) and gamergirl101 who originally requested a Dartz centered fic done to the song Sweet Sacrifice by Evanescence. As such, the song itself is in a mixed up fashion with a few word changes and set to look as if the orichalcos itself is saying them. Hope you all enjoy!

Edit: This will be the only Orichalcos/Atlantis entry in this collection. Any further ones will be in their own collection dedicated to a manga version of their backstories and events leading to the actual story. No ETA of when it will be officially posted, however.

Sweet Sacrifice

The king of Atlantis stared at the blue stone with a mesmerized gaze. It always amazed him how something so simple could be the key to their entire technological advancements. It was this stone, and the rest like it, that brought life to his kingdom and he thanked the gods every night for the decades of peace it had given them. He felt so secure knowing they had the orichalcos, it almost seemed like the stones themselves were actively helping the Atlantians.

(Poor, sweet, innocent king)

The king of Atlantis stared in horror at the sight of the monster before him, the monster he himself had just slain. He stared in terror as the sounds of screaming innocents rang in the halls. Monsters roamed, monsters once human like himself. Humans with thoughts and feelings and loved ones. Loved ones like his wife. The wife he had just slain. He stared in shock, knowing that this monster had once been the one to whom his heart belonged, yet now dead at his feet. He couldn't hide the fear buried deep down in his heart. The fear that this could happen to him as well. Could it? Would it?

He felt a crooning in the back of his mind, a gentle caress attempting to soothe his mind.

(Fear is only in your mind, though it takes over all the time. Dry your eyes, but don't deny the sweet sacrifice.)

"She was a sacrifice," the king murmured. "Her death heralds the truth of what I must do…."

A half hysterical laugh fell from his lips and he grasped his face in his hand, not entirely sure why he felt that way.

(Poor, sweet, innocent king. Do you wonder why you hate? Are you too weak to face your mistake?)

The king looked down at the monstrous corpse, his decision forming. He knew what he had to do. He knew what had to happen.

(Dream in darkness)

The king tossed and turned in his sleep. Visions of violence permeating the subconscious scenes

(Sleep to die)

He felt his breath quicken, his heart rate went up; his chest hurt. He awoke with a start.

(Erase the silence)

He knew what he had to do. He had to make them see. He had to make them know the truth. He had to speak out.

(Erase their life)

He had to take out the monsters. The monster that were once human. The humans with evil in their heart. He had to erase them, erase the silence about them….

(Poor, sweet, innocent King)

Horror beyond horror struck The Atlantean king; he stood aghast at the events unfolding before his eyes. His nation, his kingdom, his home; sinking, dying, utterly destroyed. Never to live again, never to feel the warmth of the sun or feel the fresh breeze of the wind. Even as that wind blew across his face he closed his eyes and breathed it in. He could almost hear a voice in that wind, a soothing, caressing voice to calm his fears.

(Poor, sweet, innocent king. Fear is only in your mind and yet it's taking over all the time.)

He couldn't help but wonder, why did he hate?(Theirburning ashes blacken the sky)

He couldn't but wonder, was he still too weak to survive his mistakes? (It's a world of nothingness and we'll blow it all away.)

The king turned, his mind set. Atlantis had fallen, then evil within had won. He would not let it happen again. He would resurrect the leviathan, he would burn the world, raze it to the ground and begin anew. He would revive Atlantis to it's former glory; he still had the orichalcos. The orichalcos made his kingdom prosper once, it would do so again. He believed in the orichalcos, believed that nothing could stop him while he had it. With it, the world was his. With it, he would purge the evil from the hearts of men, he would raise the leviathan to destroy what remained and Atlantis would rise again. He knew this. He clutched the stone in his hand, kissed his fist and held it close to his chest. Time was now his ally. The orichalcos gave him time. The orichalcos knew what to do. He thanked the orichalcos for coming to him, he believed in it's strength. The orichalcos would always be there for him.

(Poor, sweet, no longer innocent king. One day I will forget your name. One day, you will drown in all of their lost pain. Poor, sweet, no longer innocent king. You are my final sweet sacrifice.)

I hope you enjoyed this, I am not much of a songfic writer and this was technically my first time. So, please let me know how I did in a review, I would be much obliged.

Oh, and one last thing. The orichalcos isn't actually talking to him, it's just influencing him. The words are just a representation of that influence and the orichalcos' objective.
