Chapter 8: The Return
Third-Person Perspective
Mystic Fall's Hospital:
"How is Caroline?" Bonnie asks Matt, who is sitting beside Caroline's bed.
"She's not good, Bon." Matt says.
"What happened?" Bonnie asks him.
"We were driving and Tyler heard this noise and he got…" Matt explains.
"A noise?" Bonnie askes.
"He got this migraine or something and he lost control of the car and...I thought that Caroline was fine and then...and then she wasn't so… And Ana was just laying there, and I didn't know what to do." Matt says.
Sheriff Forbes is at the hospital desk. Damon walks over to her.
"Liz, I came as soon as I got the message. Are they okay?" Damon asks her.
"Caroline is in surgery, it's...they're doing everything they can. Ana she hasn't woken up, they say it's a form of coma. I need your help Damon." Liz tell's him
"Sure, anything Liz." Damon tells her.
"Mayor Lockwood is dead. They thought he was a vampire. They put him in the basement." Liz tells him.
"Mayor Lockwood was a vampire?" Damon says, fully knowing he wasn't.
"No, no. A mistake was made, they said he dropped like the others when John's device went off but he...he couldn't have been a vampire, I've known the man my whole life and now Carol Lockwood is gonna want answers and all I can think of right now is Caroline and Ana and…" Liz begins to cry.
"It's okay. It's okay." Damon says hugging her.
Elena arrives at the hospital, she walks over to Bonnie.
"Bonnie. How's Caroline and Ana?" Elena askes Bonnie.
"Caroline's weak. They don't know if she's going to make it. And Ana she's in this coma, and they can't do anything about it." Bonnie worries about her friends.
"What?" Elena says shocked.
Bonnie embraces Elena. Damon is near and peers over at them.
"Is there something that you can do? Like a spell or something?" Elena asks her.
"She doesn't know how, do you?" Damon says approaching them.
"No, I don't." Bonnie says.
"No, you don't because it took Emily years to learn a spell like that." Damon says angry.
"Well, I can take down a vampire, that spell was easy to learn." Bonnie says defending herself.
"I can give Caroline some blood. But Ana, we will just have to wait." Damon says.
"No, no way." Elena says.
"No, just enough to heal her. She will be safe in the hospital and it will be out of her system in a day, she will be better Elena." Damon says.
"It's too risky, I can't agree to that." Elena says.
"Do it. This is Caroline. We can't let her die. Do it." Bonnie says.
"If I do this, you and me, call a truce?" Damon asks her.
"No. But you'll do it anyway. For Ana, it's her sister." Bonnie says.
"You're into Ana?" Elena asks him.
"I'm trying to do better, okay and she just helps me." Damon tells Elena.
"You've been here all night?" Bonnie asks Matt, walking into Caroline's room.
"Yeah, with the sheriff. We switch between Ana and Caroline." Matt tells her.
"No one else?" Bonnie asks Matt.
"Stefan's brother Damon stopped by late last night. He was sitting in Ana's room for a while." Matt tells her.
"How is Ana?" Bonnie asks him.
"The same." Matt tells her.
"What about Caroline?" Bonnie asks.
"See for yourself." Matt says.
They go into Caroline's room. Caroline is awake and looking completely healthy.
"Jersey Shore's on." Caroline tells them.
Bonnie embraces her.
"Careful, still a little sore." Caroline tells her.
"Sorry." Bonnie says.
"Any news about Ana?" Caroline asks.
"No, not yet" Bonnie says sadly.
Meanwhile in Ana's room.
I feel weak, like I'm in a trance and can't get out of it. I see my own body lying in a hospital bed, I look asleep but I'm not. That bitch Kathrine did something to me, and I need to find out what.
'Oh god' I think while remembering what Kathrine told me. 'I resurrect when I die, that means all the times when I saw Elijah with Ancestor Anastasia it was actually me.
I look over at the door when hearing music, though the door is a room with people dancing. I walk though it and look back at the way I came in, but the door to the hospital room is gone. Now I'm standing in what looks like a 1800s dance. I look around the room, to find a clue to where I am.
"Miss. Forbes, will you do me the honor of a dance." I hear a male voice say. I look around to find Elijah talking to Ancestor Anastasia, but it's not Ancestor Anastasia he is talking to it's me, I need to remember that. Elijah is holding out his hand, welcoming her into the dance, she takes it and they walk in between all the people and start dancing.
'This must be another memory' I think, while watching them dance.
Then I see someone in the crowd that I didn't think of seeing. Klaus, he's watching them just like I am, I didn't know he was in Mystic Falls in the 1860's. Does this mean he met Stefan before the 1920s?
The dance finishes and Elijah and Anastasia walk out onto the porch. Nobody else is out there, only them, and of course me, this is so confusing, because I'm both me and the Anastasia Elijah is talking to.
"I have a gift for you," Elijah tells her. "Turn Around" Anastasia turns around with a smile on her face. "You didn't have to give me anything," She tells him. Elijah takes something out of his pocket, and it is of course the same necklace sitting around my neck.
Anastasia looks at the necklace and an even bigger smile appears on her face. She turns around, and hugs Elijah. "Thank you Elijah" Anastasia says into Elijah's shoulder, a smile creeps onto Elijah's face. "Anything to make a smile appear on your face" Elijah tells her.
Anastasia walks in when hearing her name being called.
Elijah leans against the railing, and I move a little closer.
"You know, this thing with Miss Forbes is going to end soon, It always does." I hear behind me. Klaus is walking over to Elijah.
Elijah looks up at his brother "Not this time, I won't let it happen again" Elijah asks his brother.
"It always does, if not now then later. You should let her go all together, you can't live like this, waiting for her to show up, it's killing you Elijah." Klaus tells him, standing right beside Elijah.
"I can't let her go, Niklaus. I love her, I will always love her, always and forever." Elijah tell's to Klaus, looking him in the eyes.
I felt tears in my eyes, he loves her or me, that's so strange and wonderful at the same time.
I look one more time at them and then I see myself in the hospital bed again. I guess this is my life right now, I can't wait to get revenge on Katherine this time she went too far.
