Videl was waiting outside of school waiting for everyone else to show up. She did get there a bit early but decided to wait outside She was also curious and excited to see Gohana's haircut. She refused to let her see it in a picture and the eagerness was getting to her.
Videl quickly noticed that some people were staring at her as they passed, though she didn't think much of it.
"Hey girl." Erasa pipped up as Videl was a bit distracted.
"Oh hey Erasa." Videl greeted her.
"You sure look excited for something! What's up?" She asked, noticing she seemed to be looking for something. Probably why Videl hadn't noticed her as she walked up to her.
"Oh, nothing. Just waiting for Gohana." Videl looked over Erasa's shoulder.
Erasa turned around. Sure the two of them were dating, but she didn't think Videl would be the clingy girlfriend type. She didn't see Gohana, though she did spot Lime and Sharpner.
"Hey Videl. Guess no crime this morning, huh?" Lime waved to them.
"No, pretty quiet morning actually. Kinda nice actually." Videl smiled.
"Hey V, is it just me or are people staring more than usual?" Erasa spoke up noticing more people than usual staring.
"Huh, oh I didn't notice. I was just waiting for Gohana."
"Mmm, she's just a few blocks away. Guess shes already landed." Lime answered after glancing over the street.
"You can tell that precisely from ki?" Sharpner asked, only able to sense general strength and direction at the moment.
"Yeah, almost six years of practice. You get pretty good at it with just a few months of practice."
"Oh I didn't think about that." Videl said and quickly felt Gohana's ki when she focused.
Lime was just staring though down the street. Videl quickly noticed Gohana as well and started blushing a little bit.
"Hey guy's" Gohana said when she got to them.
"Holy crap you look so different." Sharper was almost in shock, if it had not been for her chaotic bangs being almost the exact same, he wouldn't have recognized her.
"Wow Gohana, you look so different with short hair!" Erasa was in amazement.
"Damn, better than that Hack job of an accident from the time chamber." Lime lightly teased her.
"Hey, it wasn't his fault!" Gohana defended.
"You mean that really short hair that made you look almost like a boy?" Erasa referneced her hair almost being a buzz cut in the back.
"Um, yeah. When dad was going to cut my hair short, my leg cramped up right when dad was going to cut and the scissors cut my hair basically at the back of my head cuz i flinched back." Gohana nervously laughed.
"Well I really like this look on you." Videl smiled and tried to hide a blush from being too obvious to other.
Gohana's phone rang, and she answered it as the five of them started walking inside.
"So is this why you were eagerly waiting?" Erasa teased Videl with a slight nudge from her elbow, causing her to blush.
"Well...yes. I knew about it but she didn't let me see it until today. So I've been-"
A sudden excited shriek from Gohana caused all of them to stop, and just turn around and stare at her, surprised what they saw.
"Oh my Gosh really? Right now?"Gohana was barely able to not bounce up and down on her toes with the biggest smile. Though it was obvious she was bouncing a bit.
Videl just stared at her, never seeing her like this before and had to admit it was insanely cute seeing her act sorta like a regular girl getting excited. Even Lime couldn't recall if she'd ever seen her like this before.
"Okay, yeah! I'll let the principal know and be right over!"Gohana pocketed her phone and had a huge smile on her face.
"Is everything alright?" Lime asked, Gohana's response being so fast it was almost incomprehensible.
"Okay so I've been working on getting a contract for two years that Capsule Corp's been trying to get for ages and we never thought we'd come to an agreement but they just showed up out of the blue just now with a first draft for one because of the work I've been doing with them and their subsidiaries and they want to negotiate a contract with me in an hour this is so exciting this is my first major real contract ive been working on solo and im so excited!"
Lime had a slightly easier time because Gohana basically became a hyper excited seven year old on a roll, and that was basically Goten in a nutshell who she was used to his excited rambling.
Gohana couldn't stop bouncing on her toes, Videl just noticing how light and bouncy her now shorter hair was.
"So you're going to work then? Lime asked.
"Yeah, just gotta tell the Principal I'll be out for work for a bit!" Gohana quickly skipped towards the school before turning around and skipping backwards effortlessly and smiling as she did so.
"I'll see you guys later!" she waved and turned back around.
The four of them just stood there, surprised at what they just witness.
"Wow, it's weird seeing Gohana being so...normal." Erasa finally spoke up.
"Yeah, I'll say. I mean I've seen her happy and depressed, but man. Acting like an actual girl is so bizzare." Sharpner agreed.
"Well she is a girl. You don't seem weirded out the few times you've seen me act girly." Videl pointed out.
"No offense Videl, but you also cant casually blow up the Earth. Its kinda a weird contrast knowing shes the most powerful person on Earth." Lime agreeing with Sharpner and Erasa.
"Anyway, can we just go now?" Videl asked, noticing people around them staring at what just happened.
Videl sat I'm homeroom. The bell still hadn't rang yet so everyone was doing their own thing for the moment. Though more people were sticking their heads into the room than usual. What was going on? She was used to a few stares but it's been happening a lot this morning. And everyone was used to her now shorter hair so it wasn't that.
"So has Gohana ever told you about the thing she mentioned she's working on?" Erasa asked Lime.
"Yeah but it's confidential. At least with who and the details that is. So I've never pried into it. Bulma wouldn't tell me either, though I feel they've both been working towards this."
"Man, here I am with no real clue what I'm going to do after I finish high school while Gohana is already working such an amazing job." Erasa enviously sighed.
"Hey, we still have some time to figure that out. Besides your parents have always offered you a job with their cloths line." Sharpner tried cheering her up.
"Yeah, that's true. And they are looking to expand it. They did get a new investor and working on branching out to more locations in other cities now. So maybe there is something there." Erasa perked up a bit.
"Well that's still better than me at least." Videl said, resting her head in her arm as she leaned on the desk.
"You could probably not work the rest of your life and be okay with just your name. Add in Gohana and I'm sure she could take care of you." Erasa smirked over at her, Videl suddenly blushing.
"You know what I mean!" She spat back.
The warning bell rang as the teacher walked in and everyone got to their seats. They still had a few minutes before class actually started but everyone was in their seat. Still talking of course.
Videl didn't pay much attention and was glad that people would stopped staring at her. At least more than usual. Maybe it was because instead of her typical oversized shirt and biker shorts she had a somewhat normal sized shirt and regular shorts on. Yeah that must be it, the one day she starts wearing more regular cloths, of course she'd get stares.
The class was rather boring though. Videl did make sure to pay attention and take notes. And not that Gohana would even need it, but she tried making sure it was a bit more legible than her usual handwriting. Not that it was bad to begin with.
Once the first class was over, Videl was walking in the hall with Lime. Sharpner and Erasa had gone off somewhere for a few minutes as Erasa needed help with something for next class and Sharpner volunteered to carry it for her.
"Hey, I'm sure you've already noticed, but is everyone staring at you more than usual?" Lime asked, just noticing it herself getting really bad.
"Since this morning, yeah. It didn't happen until I got to school though so must be something to do with here?" Videl offered something. She was used to the staring so it didn't bother her really. Though she would be lying if she said she wasn't a bit curious about it.
"You think its true?"
Videl heard someone whisper to someone as they passed. Having enough of this, and wanting to know, Videl sighed and stopped and went up to the two.
"Do I think what is true?" She asked them point blank, both of them a bit flustered as they didn't think she would hear them.
"What? oh, nothing." He lied.
Videl just narrowed her eyes at him.
"Uh huh. And everyone's staring at me more than usual and whispering. Sorry but that doesn't count as nothing. and you were staring at me when you said it."
He awkwardly held his hands up to make some space between them.
"Hey, Im only asking about what I read, thats all."
"What you read? What exactly are you talking about " Videl was getting a bit annoyed now. And confused as well.
He looked a bit awkward on how to answer, but Videl suddenly had the school newspaper offered to her by the other boy.
"Gonna find out eventually. Here, read this." he held it out to her.
Videl grabbed it and started looking it over. At first she didn't see anything that would warrent getting stared at, but she kept looking until she saw her picture.
'Is our star celebrity finally dating?'
Videl just stared at this headline, not really sure what to think of it. Well that would certainly start a rumor that's for sure. But she and Gohana weren't all that lovey dovy to each other at school, at least not now. So how would they know?
"You can have it. Can we go now?" he asked.
"Huh? Oh yeah you can go." Videl said and kept reading the paper.
Lime leaned in over her shoulder and started reading as well.
"That sure would cause rumors." She said after a few moments.
"Huh, you finished it?" Videl said still towards the beginning herself.
"Well, I saw the headline and glanced at the article and saw a specific word." Lime said and pointed to Gohana's name halfway through the article.
Quickly reading the article, Videl sighed with annoyance. Of course the school press would publish anything. And she was used to it and didnt let it bother her. But they named droped Gohana specifically. Though there was no picture, Videl wasnt sure what to do.
Herself? She would just admitt it, she was so used to real paparazzi so this was nothing new to her. But what about Gohana? She knew Gohana didn't want to go out of her way to hide them dating, but she didn't wanna announce it either. Of all days why couldn't Gohana be here so she could ask what she wanted to do? She didn't want to put the unwanted spotlight onto her.
Videl spent all day refusing to answer the question. Of course once word got out Videl had confronted someone on the rumors, it opened the floodgates to everyone coming up to her.
"Hey V, why not just make up an excuse and leave?" Erasa asked her as they found a quiet spot for lunch.
"Because that would only add more fuel to the fire." Videl took a bite of her sandwich.
"I guess you have a point." Erasa leaned against the wall. "It feels weird eating lunch up on the roof though."
"Well our usual spot by the tree would be wide open for anyone to come up and bother us." Sharpner said.
"Yeah, honestly today I'd rather enjoy lunch." Lime concurred.
"I still can't believe it got into a newspaper. From our date at the fair."
They had all read the article. While there was no picture to accompany it other than just a random photo of Videl, it did replay some events. What was more embarrassing for Videl is what was a special moment was now the school gossip. It didn't ruin the memory of their first date, more so how the school found out was embarrassing. Though if she were honest, it probably would have happened this way no matter who it was.
"Did you text Gohana about it?" Erasa asked finally.
"No, I mean I want to so I know how she wants to go about it. But I don't want to ruin anything at work for her. This sounded super important to her. I want to just say it so they leave us alone, but I want to know what Gohana wants. If she doesn't want to say it at school, im fine with that.
"Ahh that's so sweet, putting your girlfriends feelings ahead of your own." Erasa teased Videl, finally able to tease her about this stuff.
"Hey!" Videl went beat red at her friend.
"So basically if Gohana wants it to be public, you're okay with it?" Lime asked, assuming though that Gohana would be shy about it and not want the attention.
"Yeah. I'll be okay with whatever Gohana wants. But I want to talk with her about it first. I can handle either, but it's up to her what we do no matter what!"
Luckily they were able to finish lunch without much issue. Usually no one ate lunch on the roof as technically it was for landing and taking off. Though there was way more than enough space and even had designated rest areas as well.
After lunch ended though, that was a totally different story. Videl had to shoo people away constantly that weren't even in their class. She coulnt do much about the people in the clas though.
"For the last time will you drop it?" Videl said for probably the thousandth time today already.
"Its gotta be fake! We just can't see anyone being able to handle dating you. Nothing against you girl, but who would have the guts to date Hercules daughter?" one if the girls said.
"Sigh, look you already know I don't entertain ideas from the school newspaper to begin with. So why would I change my mind about this?" Videl tried to reason with them.
"So it is true?" someone butted in.
"Oh for the, will you drop it already? Seriously you've seen me explain to literally everyone in class individually, so why would I tell you anything different?"
"Pff, those were the guys asking you. It's just us girls now." they tried getting anything from her.
"So am I just invisible then?" Sharpenr tried defusing the situation away from Videl.
This did catch the girls off guard a bit but they just huffed. The teacher was no help either as while she wanted to know as we, she knew it was highly inappropriate to ask.
"Students, could I have you leave Mrs. Videl alone?" she tried to get them to dispurse from her and quiet down, but it wasn't working.
"Oh come on, just answer us already if you and Gohana are dating!" someone finally just shouted across the room.
The door opened and every eye was quickly on Gohana who stood at the door, Lime behind her. At this point all sound had gone out in the room as everyone, Jake included, just watched as Gohana looked over at Videl and walked over towards her. She stood in front of Videl as they both just blushed a bit, Videl and Gohana's hearts pounding in their chest.
Gohana landed at Capsule Corp within just a few minutes of informing the principal she would be absent for work for a few hours. She landed at the family area and found Bulma's mom there.
"Oh, Gohana dear. Oh my gosh you startled me."
"Ahh, I'm sorry. I'm just excited and kinda in a hurry." She appologized
"Oh I know, I was with Bulma when they showed up and she called you. So no apologies needed dear. Just go ahead an get ready. Oh will you be staying afterward?" She asked.
"No, I'll probably head back afterwards. This shouldn't take too long anyway, just maybe an hour or two"
"Okay, good luck sweety."
Gohana quickly went to her room. She knew she had a few suit she could wear. Though she wasn't sure what to wear. Bulma had helped her pick them out to look good, and they always kept in mind her very long hair. Except now it was really short. She could easy see the bottom of her hair in the mirror from the front. Though that did make it a bit easier now, she could just comb it and not worry.
Gohana decided to go with a darker blue suit. She liked the color anyway and she felt it went well with her shorter hair. The design was also a lot simpler. Gohana grabbed her hairbrush and just combed her hair to make sure it looked presentable.
Gohana stopped and took a few breaths to calm herself down. She knew she had a few minutes, more than a few actually. She was a bit nervous now though. She had been working on this for two years afterall. And neither herself nor Bulma expected this so suddenly. She was finding herself become rather excited.
"Okay, let's do this."
Gohana made the few minute walk to where they would usually meet people. She saw Bulma already there. Bulma had to almost do a double take when she saw her.
"Wow, I haven't seen short hair on you in a long time." Bulma said admiring it.
"Thanks, I kinda like it this short already. Took barely a minute to get it ready."
"Well I gotta say kiddo, you look pretty good in that suit with your hair like that."
Gohana just smiled and blushed a little bit.
Bulm reached into her bag and grabbed some lipstick and quickly applied it. She knew she had a decent amount of time to spare, but she liked to be early.
"I know it's not your thing, but would you mind?" Bulma handing a different lipstick towards Gohana.
Gohana sighed and grabbed it and the mirror from her. Though nowhere near as skillfully as Bulma, Gohana applied it. She was glad it wasn't a super bright color, just enough that it was there and obvious, but it didn't stick out like a sore thumb either. Was a slight redish pink, making her lips a bit warmer in color. Bulma had to grab a napkin and fix it, chuckling to herself.
"Man, a super genius and master martial artist. Yet you still can't put on simple lipstick." Bulma obviously teasing her.
Gohana just laughed a bit. She knew Bulma was just having some fun with her. She also knew Bulma wouldn't ask if it wasn't this important, and they wanted to appear as professional as possible. One of the very few times she didn't mind too much.
Dispite Capsule Corp being one of the worlds most famous companies, there were still many other companies famous who typically did their own thing. The fact they even had the opportunity two year ago to start this process was a miracle. And the fact they were there to discuss a contract, this was near impossible in their minds just this morning.
"Okay, so you did most of the work in person with them. So I'm going to let you take the lead with this one, okay? And I'll be your backup." Bulma gave her a peptalk, hands on Gohana's shoulder.
Gohana could see the seriousness in Bulma, and gave her back the same confident look she gave when sparring.
"We got this!" Gohana gave her a thumbs up.
"Ah, Mrs. Briefs!" A soft spoken man's voice said behind them suddenly.
Bulma turned around and both her and Gohana bowed at him, he returning it.
"Mrs. Briefs, so glad you are here today as well. Will Mrs. Son also be joining us?" he asked knowing it should have been both of them.
"Oh please, Just Bulma will do Mr. Ryder."
"Yes, sorry I appologize, I'm a bit old fashioned. But yes Bulma, so glad to be here today. What about Gohana? Is she here yet?" he asked remembering Gohana instisted he used her given name, looking around for her.
Gohana didn't blame him as he only saw her sporadically. She just waved at him.
"Hi Mr. Ryder."
"Oh, Gohana, I appologize I didn't recognize you with your hair so short!"
"Its okay, you're only used to seeing me sporadically, so I dont blame you."
"Yes. Now why don't we head on in and we can get started on the contract proposal!"
Gohana and Bulma lead Mr. Ryder and his two assistants through the hallway. They made a quick stop at the coffee machine though. An intern had passed with some coffee and he had asked if it was possible to get some himself.
Gohana just stood by as the four of them all poured coffee. Bulma just took it black, Ryder added a bit of cream, and his two assistance both added a flavor packet.
Ryder looked over to Gohana and jestured his cup.
"Don't you want some as well?"
"Actually, I dont drink coffee." Gohana answered casually.
"Wow! Thats a first. I don't think I've meet anyone in your field or mine that doesn't drink coffee." He chuckled and took a sip.
"Yeah, I get that a lot. Though If there's a hot cocoa, I'll take that! I like those." Gohana said as Bulma went to make her one.
"Women!"
Gohana and Bulma both groaned silently to themselves. Everyone looked over and saw Vegeta walking towards them. When he got to them he glanced over at the four people he didn't recognize, then Bulma.
"The computer in the training room is broken and it's stuck on. Can you fix it?" He lowered his temper a bit noticing she was with clients. He did not want to deal with her angry later, so he at least held back. Only a bit though.
"Ah, you must be Bulma's husband, Vegeta. I've heard a lot about you." Ryder recognized Vegeta from Bulmas description of him. Though he hadn't seen a picture of him or ever meet him, Bulma did wonderfully in describing him.
"Yeah, I am. What if it?' he scowled at him.
"Were in a meeting, I'll fix it later." Gohana said seeing as no one else that even could fix it could even enter with the gravity stuck on, reguardless what it was at.
Vegeta glanced at the girl next to him and just huffed.
"Dont you fucking dare! I don't let anyone I don't trust with fixing it to touch it. Not about to let some intern touch my training equipment." Vegeta scowled.
Gohana and Bulma both just stared at him near in shock. Yeah Gohana looked different with her hair suddenly short, but not THAT different! And he saw her all the damn time! Granted only once or twice in a suit, but couldn't he tell it was her?
Ryder looked surprised at his language and tone, having not expected that from someone Bulma was married to. But he had heard about his extreme temper so this wasn't a total shock to him.
"Now look here, that is no way to talk to a young lady offering you their help."
"Last I checked, it's my training room and not yours, so shut up." Vegeta spat back.
Bulma looked like she was about to murder Vegeta at this point. Gohana also was about to slam Vegeta into the ground had it not been for Ryder being there.
"Vegeta, where are your manners? You know not to get in the way when clients are here?" Bulma kept her temper held back by some miracle, but it was obvious she was annoyed, even to Ryder.
"And you said to stay in the gravity room, and it's broken. So what am I supposed to do!"
Gohana quickly grabbed Vegetas shirt, pulled it back and down while swipping her leg at his. Caught off balance and guard, Vegeta quickly went to the ground. Who the hell would fucking dare to that to him! Ryder and his two assistants couldn't help but let out a small muffled laugh as they saw what before them amounted to a tall tiny girl effortlessly take out this angry bulky dude.
Vegeta quickly got up embarrassed and got right into her face.
"What the fick was that for!?" Vegeta screamed at her face, obviously enraged at the moment.
Bulma was ready to beat the shit out of Vegeta at this point, and Ryder was taking a step forward to try to defuse the situation, but neither had a chance to do anything.
Gohana's eyes momentarily flashed green, causing Vegeta to be taken back realizing this was Gohana now that he got a good look at her. Why did she cut her hair? Before he could utter a other word, Gohana slammed her knee hard into his gut. While being doubled over in pain, Gohana stepped back and crossed her arms.
"Last I checked Vegeta, the student doesn't question their Teacher. Now shut up and go meditate like Piccolo and I showed you. So help me, I will not hold back next time we spar if you continue to cause a scene." Gohana quickly took charge of the situation, her voice calm, yet stern.
Even though deep down she really wanted to slam her fist into his face and tell him to shut the fuck up, she had to somewhat keep her composure in front of Ryder. At least this way, she was able to keep a happy medium.
Vegeta still winced in pain, just glared at her.
"Damn it brat, that was cheap." He grunted.
"Guess you're rubbing off on me then, huh?" Gohana smirked, at this point toying with him. She and Bulma knew at this point he most likely wouldn't cause a scene.
He turned to Ryder.
"I'll...be going now." And stormed off.
Gohana uncrossed her arms and relaxed a little bit, turning back to Ryder and started bowing and apologizing profusely.
"I'm so sorry you had to see that sir!"
"Wow, you handled him like it was nothing?" the smaller female assistant was impressed.
"Yeah, I think I'd even have a hard time handling him, and I'm a part time bodyguard for Mr. Ryder." the larger man said.
Gohana just laughed a little but nervously, glad they were at least in good spirits about it. But she was more worried about what Ryder was about to do. She and Bulma were worried Vegeta had just ruined two years of work.
"I must say Bulma, your husband's behavior..." he paused, causing Bulma and Gohama to stiffen, fearing the worse.
"Somehow that was nowhere near as bad as you made him out to be. And Gohanna, I recall you mentioned you were I to martial arts. But i didnt think you were that proficient that you had a student." he praised her.
"Either way, now that it's under control, shall we continue?" her offered them, having noticed they were both holding their breath.
Neither of them even noticed they were doing so, and let out a sigh of relief. And for both of them it was a bit hard to hide it.
"Hey, family affairs and buisiness are two separate aspects of our lives. You've both already proven the buisiness side. And you can handle him. Now shall we?" he said and started walking, technically knowing where to go as he could see the door. Gohana and Bulma gave each other a look of extreme relief, and followed him.
Gohana and Ryder did most of the talking back and forth. Bulma did interject a few times when Gohana was either unsure or didn't know. But that didn't happen too often. Ryder laid out some points he wanted to go over as well, and when he let Gohana think it over, she and Bulma looked it over.
Bulma was actually surprised, he really did his homework. Most of the stuff she would have brought up he already had in the draft.. Though a few details would need to be tweaked of course, he was very through.
"I have to be honest, I'm impressed. Everything in this draft proposal seems very fair for both sides. And neither of us see anything needing major changes. Just maybe a few small tweaks here and there" Bulma finally spoke up.
"Well, I fully did my research. I learned how both our comapnies can benefit mutally, and I made sure to be balanced as possible. Though I am open to suggestions on the minor tweaks you had in mind. But I think maybe a company dinner with some of the main people that would be working together and overseeing projects would be a better place for that. Afterall, you and I wouldn't be the main ones working on the projects. I'd like some of our employees to have a say as they will know what is needed probably better than us."
Gohana really had no clue what to say to that. She didn't have anything major to change. And getting the people who would actually be working together involved with the process wasn't super common. Though not unheard of.
"If it would work for you, I'd love to be able to set up an arrangement. I'll probably be overseeing it a little bit as well." Gohana said.
"Oh? I didn't know you do some of the actual research." he said impressed.
"Only some of it." Gohana modestly stated.
"She can easily do the work of several people at a fraction of the time. She doesn't give herself enough praise. But she does enjoy not only being a higher up, but part of the actual teams. Hands on you know." Bulma praised Gohana properly.
"Well then, I think it's settled! I'll have my assistant here talk with yours and they will coordinate a time for " He stood up and reached his hand out towards Gohana.
"It will be a pleasure to work with Capsle Corp!"
Gohana stood up and gently took his hand and lightly bowed.
"Thank you, and working with Med Inc. to help people will be an honor for me too!" Gohana smiled, knowing how much working together could help the medical community. And Earth.
Gohana finished rummaging through the toolbox for what she was looking for. She needed a specific tool to remove one of the circuits that got stuck, causing the gravity rooms safety features and gravity control to be overloaded.
Grabbing the tool, Gohana reached in and carefully removed the part in question. There wasnt a need for it to be replaced, and the central computer had several back up parts installed. Just somehow this one was blocking it from working properly. This was a first.
A low hum could be heard as the gravity generator powered up a little bit more before slowly shutting itself off.
"Got it." Gohana said and started typing into the main command computer.
Vegeta opened his eyes and stood up from his meditation.
"Good, maybe I can get some real training in before Piccolo's lesson tomorrow."
"Oh, you mean the pathetic solo training that barely failed to get you to keep up with even Piccolo?" Gohana snapped at him.
She was still furious with him from earlier. Had it not been for Ryder being so understanding and continuing with the meeting, she was pretty sure she would have hit him at full power. Which probably would break the chamber more.
"And what does that mean?" He looked at her confused.
Gohana finished typing in comands and took the thumb drive that stored the data so the technicians can see how it failed later. Closing the hatch, Gohana sighed and turned around, glareing at him.
"What?"
"Thats it? You nearly could have cost me two years of networking by being so damn selfish!" Gohana snapped at him.
"And thats my problem how?"
"You dont get to be selfish like this right now Vegeta! This is my career I'm working towards, and you could have nearly ruined it! This was a big deal for me!"
"And training to get stronger is a big deal for me!"
"Well you could have fooled me." Gohana was getting petty.
"And just what the hell is that supposed to mean!"
Gohana sighed and glared at him.
"Hit me."
This threw Vegeta for a loop. Why she be asking him to hit her.
"Why should I?"
Gohana just pushed him hard, causing him to slam into the wall on the other side of the room. Vegeta was a little thrown off but was getting mad. What the hell did she do that for?
"I fucking said hit me!" Gohana screamed and pushed a few buttons, the gravity increasing all the way to 500.
Vegeta was taken back by the suddenness of this and nearly fell to the ground. He strugegld to get back up, but was surprised Gohana didnt seem to have as much difficulty.
'What the? So it wasnt a fluke!' Vegeta rememebred the last time she casually walked into the room when he first tried 500.
Vegeta went Super Saiyan and flew at her, pulling a fist back before slamming it forward. Gohana didn't even block it, but simply dodged it. She didnt even go Super Saiyan yet. Vegeta was more thrown off she dodged him in this situation. Gohana couldnt move as fast but she used the surprise he was experiencing to grab him and slam him into her knee. Vegeta got the wind knowcked out of him.
'What the hell!'
Vegeta had a few moments to get his breath back before going 2, Gohana just turning into regular Super Saiyan. Vegeta tried everything he could to hit her, but she just dodged everything. She wasnt even bothering to block! And this gravity was still a struggle for Vegeta even at 2. It was quickly obvious to Vegeta that she must be used to it already, or even higher levels of gravity.
Gohana easily grabbed his wrist from one of his more sloppg stricked.
"Stop trying to hit me and just fucking hit me!" Gohana slammed her fist into him, once again sending him across the room. Vegeta hit the wall so hard he dented the material, falling to the ground.
"Okay, I get the point."
"Computer! Safety override. 600x." Gohana said.
"Voice recognition confirmed. 600x Earths gravity unlocked." the robotic synthesized voice spoke
"WHAT!?"
Vegeta had almost no time to even mentally prepare for this as it hit him hard. Gohana was now struggling to walk well herself as she walked over to him, still in regular Super Saiyan while Vegeta struggled at 2.
"Computer, shut down." Gohana ordered once she got close to Vegeta.
The computer beeped and soon the gravity returned to normal.
"You want to know why this is a big deal for me? It's because the same reason as I still train. What good is it if I cant help provide for my future family? I'm making sure I can keep my family safe. Not just as a Saiyan, but a Human too!" Gohana held her hand out for Vegeta
Vegeta just looked at her, before taking her hand. He was still recovering from the shock of 600x gravity, and he returned to base.
"You're on your way to finding that same drive Vegeta. I dont think you fully realize just how much you've improved to keep Bulma and Trunks safe."
Vegeta just flushed a bit and scoffed, looking off the the said.
"I have no time for being soft." He tried to act tuff.
"Yeah yeah, keep telling yourself that." Gohana saw through the bravado and waved it off.
"Your deal, is it strained?" Vegeta asked.
This threw off Gohana a bit as he usually didnt even care asking her about work.
"Huh?"
"You just basically beat the crap out of me because I ruined whatever deal you had!"
"Oh, well honestly no. The deals is still going through as planned." Gohana answered.
"Wait if it's still happening why are you still are angry?"
"That's not the point Vegeta! Dont you get it? You do your best to try to keep Bulma and Trunks safe, yes? Well Bulma does her best to keep a roof over your guys head. Dont you see it works both ways! She doesn't ruin your training and in fact helps with it! Even worries when you get hurt and healing you! Why cant you do the same to help her?"
Vegeta just looked at her confused, having never thought of it like that. Though he just stood there and turned his back to Gohana and grunted.
Gohana just stood there, waiting for Vegeta to say anything. Though after a few minutes of silence, it was getting to her.
"Sigh, look just promise me not to cause a scene like that again? You really could have destroyed all our hard work and possibilities this deal is going to bring to help people."
"Fine...just..." Vegeta started, but caught himself and didn't finish it.
"What is it?" Gohana asked, crossing her arms.
"Just...forget it." He was glad Gohana couldnt see him blushing a bit.
"Computer, safety overri-"
"Alright!" Vegeta interrupted her in defeat.
Vegeta just nervously glanced away, avoiding eye contact.
"How...the gap between us. Is it just because your feelings towards your loved ones?"
This surprised Gohana, and the surprise and confusion was obvious on her face as she just stared at him.
"Well?"
"Well, partially. Honestly a big part of it is the fighting you and I do together. Think about it, we always get stronger faster when training together, right? But you're so stubborn and refuse to accept help from others. Until recently with Piccolo and I. Just because they're weaker than you, doesnt mean you can't learn from them."
"But on the other hand, its because I dont want them to be hurt I accept help from others. Didnt you notice your improvement just in the last few weeks training with Piccolo?" Technically longer but Gohana wasn't factoring in the time chamber.
Vegeta's fce said it all, even though he didnt say anything. But Gohana knew the message got across. Looking at her watch she noticed lunch at school should be going on. So she wouldn't miss the entire day at least. And she wanted to see Videl.
"Well, if that's all, I got to head back to school now."
Gohana grabbed her backpack and put it over a single shoulder.
"Oh right, computer!"
Vegeta flinched for a moment and braced.
"Safety release 600x to Vegeta."
"Acknowledged. 600x gravity now available." the robotic voice confirmed.
"My gravity chamber goes up to 600, now yours does too. Just remember what Piccolo and I are teaching you and you'll get stronger."
Vegeta wasn't even sure what to say in response, so he didnt say anything as Gohana left the chamber.
"I swear soemtimes she's more a Saiyan than she realizes."
Going over to the gravity controlls, he saw '600x available' flashing. He still wasnt sure if he was fully ready to handle it. He reached for the activate button but stopped.
'Maybe I should try more of that meditation they taught me.'
Going to the middle of the room, Vegeta sat back down and closed his eyes, and slowly tried to calm his breathing and his ki. He tried drawing it all in while letting it out.
'Fuck this is so difficult?'
Gohana landed a block away and hurried over to school. She should have a few more minutes before the end of lunch bell so she made her way to their usual lunch spot. Though once she got there she noticed they weren't there.
"Huh, I wounder where they are." Gohana looked around. She didnt feel their Ki raised so they just blended in a bit.
'Guess im doing this the old fashioned way.'
Gohana wondered for a few minutes before noticing that everyone was looking t her. She didn't know what was going on. But she also didnt put much thought into either. She was just excited to let Videl know it was a success at work.
The bell rang not too long later. Gohana figured at this point it would be faster just to go to class since they would be there anyway. Gohana turned the corner and neay ran into a small group of people in her hurry.
"Oh, shoot sorry about that " She appologized.
"Do you think we should ask her?" one of them whispered to another once they realized who almost ran into them.
"Huh? Ask me about what? Gohana asked having heard it.
This kinda surprised them, but it looked like they were a bit unsure to ask or not.
"Is it true? Videl's been dodging everyone all day?" one of them finally asked.
"Huh? True? What are you talking about?" she asked confusd.
"Oh, right no ones seen you all day. It's all anyone can talk about!"
"Um, does someone want to fill me in so I can answer whatever it is you are asking about?"
"Are you and Videl really dating?"
Gohana quickly went beat red and was so caught off guard she was stunned stiff.
"No way, so its true!" They took her sudden change in demeanor as it was true.
"What? Why would you ask that!" Gohana tried covering.
This came out of nowhere to her. Did the whole school know? How? She hadn't even been at school today. And they've only been dating since just the weekend! Did it already get out?
"I...sorry I got to go!" Gohana quickly turned around and ran around the corner.
The group of girls quickly tried running after her, but she was gone when they turned the corner.
"What the, where did she go?"
Gohana was beat red, trying to calm herself down after escaping to the rooftop. She figured no one would be up here, let alone look for her up here. But what the heck was that! How did they find out.
The door quickly opened next to Gohana who was so out of it that it scared her.
"Gaaahh im sorry I dont know what you're talking about!" She blurted out without even looking, her mind still on what juat happened.
"Gohana relax! What just happened?"
Gohana looked and was glad to see it was just Lime.
"Lime, what the heck is going on? I just barely got here and suddenly im being asked if Videl and I are dating."
"Well, you two are dating." She kinda said matter of factly.
"Well yeah. But how does some random girls know?" She asked blushing.
Lime just sighed.
"Well that exaines your Ki suddenly spiking in front of the school out of nowhere. But apparently someone in the newspapaer club saw you both during your date to the fair over the weelend and followed you. And his article about it was in the school paper today. So the whole school is talking about. Everyones trying to figure out if its true"
"Wait, how's Videl handling this?" Gohana asked.
"Always thinking of others first" chuckled a bit. Gohana just waiting for an answer.
"She's refusing to answer because she wanted to know what you wanted to do. She's used to the spotlight and would rather just say it to get everyone off your guy's back. But she would rather hide it if it means you're more comfortable with that."
"Wait, she would rather I choose? But wouldn't that just cause more trouble for her?"
"Again, she's used to the paparazzi and it doesnt faze her. But she knows you dont want the attention. So she's going to tough it out for you if thats what you want."
Gohana looked down at the ground in thought, and a bit nervous as well. What should she do?
"I'll leave you up here to decide." Lome said and turned to leave.
"No, its okay!" Gohana blushed furiously, not wanting to walk to class alone now.
"Well she's probably in class. I felt your ki become erratic for a moment on our way there so lets head to class." Lime said before suddey getting real close to Gohana's face.
"Umm, Lime?" Gohana asked nervously.
"No way, you actually put on lipstick?" She asked surprised.
"Huh? oh, yeah I did." Gohana gently tapped her lips, noticing the feeling of it still there.
"Well, whatever, lets go. I imagine you'll be bombarded with questions all day. Better to just dive right in."
Lime was right, even just the two minutes to get to class Gohana could overhear most of the students whispering about her. Though none of them knew she could actually hear them. Well, somewhat hear them. There were so many people whispering to one another that she couldn't actually make out specific conversations, but she could tell what they were about.
"Just breath, Videl will do whatever you want. Just let her know." Lime whispering towards Gohana who was blushing a bit but nodded.
They got to class and were surprised the door was closed. Gohana reaching out to the door but was too nervous. She was standing there frozen, still unsure what she wanted to do. She was glad Videl would go with whatever she wanted, but Videl would be bombarded with questions. She knew she would also be bombarded with questions and she was a bit scared about being the center of attention. Until she heard someone yelling.
"Oh come on, just answer us already if you and Gohana are dating!"
Gohana had to be very careful to not tear the door off its hinges, or even break the door to begin with for that matter. Literally everyone in the room went silent and focused all on her. Gohana wasn't too worried anymore though. She just slowly walked up towards her seat, and Videl. No one said a word as she just walked over, Lime keeping pace slightly behind her.
Gohana stopped next to Videl, both of them trying hard not to blush. Gohana could feel her heart beating in her chest, as Videl looked so lost what she should do.
Everyone was staring at them, as if nothing else mattered. She couldn't stand the thought of Videl being put through this all day, or any other day! Used to it or not, they were dating. Gohana took a deep breath to try and calm herself though.
"Will you people leave my girlfriend alone already!" Gohana nearly shouted, causing everyone to jump back.
Not just from how loud Gohana was, bit what she said.
Gohana just sat down very quickly, face flushed a bit, but keeping her composure somewhat. She looked over at Videl who was smiling back at her.
"Oh, so I got the contract at work by the way." Gohana nervously said, literally beat red and having no clue what else to say.
Videl just smiled and just scooted a bit closer to her, grabbing her hand under the table to comfort her.
