Chapter 6

-oOo-

April 16, 1993

Washington D.C., USA

Lex rubbed her palms on the nice dress to smooth a wrinkle. Her mom had given her a questioning look when she had offered to stay behind. Usually, Lex would take any chance she could to get out of a dinner with grandpa's investors or associates, but dinners didn't usually include Harry.

She looked in the mirror one more time. The long red dress was decorated in vines with white and yellow flowers. It had an Asian cut to it, with a collar that cut in a diagonal across her chest. She knew the dress hugged her form more than she usually liked but hoped those green eyes would like it.

"Lex, Tim and I are going in a few. You sure you want to stay?" her mom asked, sticking her head in.

"Mom, can you help me with a little makeup?"

"Is there a particular reason you are dressing up like this? You hate grandpa's dinner parties," her mom questioned, coming into her room.

"Are we going?" Tim called out as he stopped by the door.

"We have time, Tim. Give me a few," their mom said.

Lex was trying to hold a straight face. "Can you please just help me?"

"Sure, Lex," her mother said, moving into Lex's bathroom. "Why are you staying?"

"Harry," Tim said, coming into her room.

"Will you get out, troll," Lex snapped.

Tim stuck his tongue out at her.

"Who is Harry?" her mother asked.

"The boy grandpa took here today. He's really neat. We talked about dinosaurs all afternoon," Tim said. "He also asked about Lex."

"What did he ask?" she shot to Tim.

"Hold still, young lady." Lex stilled as her mother help with a little powder. "Is he cute?"

She couldn't keep her cheeks from heating a little. She didn't say anything.

"The way he talks about dinosaurs, it sounds like he's actually seen them. I think he's just read a lot," Tim said, bouncing into her bathroom.

"He sounds interesting," their mom said, sounding like she was about to laugh. "And did he talk to you about dinosaurs?"

Lex hadn't had the guts to go knock on his door after seeing him earlier. When she heard him come out, Tim had intercepted him almost immediately. For the next hour her young brother had talked to Harry, who seemed interested in talking to her annoying younger brother. She had to admit though, he had been nice to Tim. "No," Lex answered her mother. "He has these intense green eyes, though."

"I see," was all her mother said. Her mother put on a lipstick that matched the red in her dress. "There."

Lex blinked. She looked almost the same as she normally did. "That's it? You hardly used anything," Lex complained.

Her mother looked into the mirror over her shoulder. "You don't really need it, Lex. You are beautiful already. Tim and I need to get going. I'll catch up with you later and I want to meet this boy tomorrow." Her mother kissed her cheek and pulled back.

"Harry kept looking at your door," Tim said, laughing as their mom went to box his ears and he ducked his head. "He also wanted to know what you like."

"What did you tell him?" Lex called after her brother. Tim stuck his tongue out at her. Their mom gave her a knowing smile and then they were gone.

Lex huffed, stomping her foot. "He is so going to get it later," she muttered.

Lex turned back to her mirror. Her mother had only put on a little base and the lipstick. As she looked at the mirror, she was doubting herself, still seeing the tomboy and the girl that loved to have her hair be wild. Why did she care so much? She had had less than twenty words with him, but he had been very kind to Tim. As annoying as he could be, Lex had to admit that she loved her brother. Maybe mom had been right the other night? She was growing up.

The knock on her door had her start. "Be right there," she called out. It was probably Madam Curie or Mister Mason to remind her it was time to go downstairs.

Checking her hair was up in the bun and the fancy needles holding her golden hair in place, she frowned. The needles were her favourite, and they had gotten them in Shanghai last summer, but was it just right? She felt silly to be so smitten with someone so quickly, but kind of liked how she looked when she let herself relax a little.

Opening the door, she felt her heart thudding against her chest. Harry had raised his hand to knock once again. He was in the blue suit, which fit him perfectly, with his black hair still a mess and his green eyes looking at her. They met her eyes first, then took in her dress. There was something about the way he looked at her that made her feel older, more mature, more... she didn't know. She liked how he looked at her. He wasn't leering. He was appreciating her, unlike when other boys had done that, and she had been annoyed. Looking at Harry do it sent butterflies flying through her stomach again.

"Wow," he said. That was all it took for her face to flush. As though realizing what he had done, his own neck turned red. Stepping back he ran his hand over the back of his neck. He was different than other visitors.

"You like?" she asked, putting her hands before her and turning as though modelling it for him. She felt so stupid, but her best friend had apparently been wearing off on her.

"Uhm. Yeah," he said, before shaking himself. "I was asked to escort you down."

She gave him a smile. When he didn't move, she realized he might not know what to do. The way he had talked with Tim, he didn't come off as someone taught how to be a gentleman. "Hold out your arm," she whispered.

"Oh, right," Harry said. His neck brightened more as he straightened, cutting a dashing figure, and held his arm out. "I haven't done this often. I hope I don't do anything bad before Mr Hammond."

She slid her arm into his. "Grandpa doesn't always like to be proper. Isn't your father with you?"

"Godfather. He went out earlier and hasn't come back," Harry said with a frown.

They made their way down the stairs. "Alexis Murphy," she said, searching to fill the silence.

"What?" Harry asked.

"Alexis Murphy. That's my full name. I didn't really introduce myself earlier," she told him, thoughts of his bare chest coming to her as a reason why.

"Harry Potter. Madam Curie said you like to be called Lex?" Harry said back to her

She almost never used her full name. "I do, but sometimes at formal events grandpa likes me to use Alexis."

He pondered that for a moment. "What do you want me to call you?"

"Lex," she told him.

"Alright, Lex. Is this going to be bad tonight?" Harry inquired.

God, she liked his accent. "It might be boring, but I'm sure we can keep each other entertained."

Harry gave her a big smile. "I hope not about dinosaurs."

She giggled. "How about we share stories about where we've been?"

He thought about that for a moment as they came to the first floor. "I've not been many places, but sure."

Before she could say anything else, they were at the double doors to the formal dining room. Inside was grandpa, three Japanese businessmen and a man she knew, but didn't care for.

"Ah, my other guests. Gentlemen, I would like you to meet my granddaughter, Alexis Murphy, and a young man that holds great potential for our endeavours." Mr Hammond indicated they take seats next to each other at the far end of the table.

"If I may, Takahashi Katsumi, Muraoka Saki and Sakata Chiyo from the Sato consortium, one of our largest investors," Mr Hammond said, pointing to each man in turn. "And this is Donald Gennaro, lead council for InGen and some of our investors."

Yes, Lex knew Mr Gennaro. He was a lawyer and acted like one. She didn't remember the Japanese men, but probably had met them before. The interesting part was Harry. Grandpa seemed to hold him in high regard. Harry pulled her chair out for her, and Lex gave him an appreciative smile. They sat down and her grandfather started to talk again. She didn't miss the looks cast towards Harry. Leaning over, she asked, "Why does grandpa think you are so important?"

Harry just shrugged. "I just like what he does."

She eyed him curiously. There was more to Harry Potter than she knew what to think of.

-oOo-

Later that night...

Harry took off his jacket and put it on the back of the chair in his room. He touched his cheek where Lex had kissed him before rushing into her room. The dinner had been very boring, and Mr Hammond had hinted almost to the point of just coming out and telling his secrets about why he was so important. It was so blatant, Lex kept asking him more and more pointed questions, between stories of the places she had been.

Flopping down on his bed, he let his mind wander to the blonde girl. She had been breath-taking tonight. That red, flowery dress had highlighted her attractive curves. He liked the way her hair was put up to show her neck and the small amount of makeup had really highlighted her cheeks and lips, unlike someone like Lavender or Mandy Brocklehurst, who always seemed to paint their faces on.

Lex had also shown to be very intelligent. She had started to get into her new computer, her face lighting up, as she talked about it. Harry was still woefully ignorant of many of those things but listening to her had him smiling too.

To top it all off, she was athletic too, though only swimming now, she had been involved in sports all her life, and her body showed that.

In short, Harry found he really liked Lex. Like really liked her. Enough that he thought she was his pin up girl in his head. Especially in the dress she wore tonight.

He was about to flop on his bed when a knock came at his door. "Come in," he called out, hoping that Lex had found a reason to come visit him. When the door opened, Sirius walked in with a long face. Something about his demeanour had Harry instantly on guard and sitting up. "What's wrong?"

Sirius walked over to sit in the chair his jacket was on. "I think we're in real trouble."

Harry frowned. "Did you find the MACUSA? Are you being hunted again?"

Sirius shook his head. "That's the thing, I can't find any evidence of the MACUSA or any other wizard."

Harry just nodded, some of his theories being proven. "What do we do then?"

"Stick with John for now. We don't have any money and he is willing to share his. I want to go to New York. Maybe they had to shut down the offices here. Just, something feels off," Sirius said.

"Like not having any Aurors or Obliviators show up in a month of me using magic?" Harry put to him.

Sirius rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah. Like that. Was John upset I wasn't there?"

"I don't think so, but he hinted heavily that you and I are something special to the investors and lawyer he had there tonight," Harry told him.

"Bloody hell. I don't want our magic getting out if we are the last ones," Sirius said.

Harry understood.

They sat quietly for a moment before Sirius perked up some, moving his head to indicate something on Harry. "I didn't know you liked to wear lipstick," he commented rather casually.

Harry touched the spot that Lex had kissed his cheek. At Sirius knowing grin, Harry felt a little flustered. "Well, while you were out having fun, I met Mr Hammond's grandchildren and Ms Murphy," Harry told him.

The man wagged his eyebrow. "I take it Ms Murphy is rather hot?" Sirius laughed. "I've never seen your face turn that colour."

Harry knew he was blushing. "Lex is attractive, smart and loves to swim," Harry retorted.

"I bet she is. Do you need the talk? I should show you how to cast the contraceptive charm," Sirius said, pulling out his wand.

Harry rushed over to push his wand down. "I already know how," he hissed. Madam Pomfrey had reinforced that lesson since third year.

Sirius laughed louder. "Is there lipstick anywhere else I should know about?"

"You're a bloody dick," Harry groused, getting up. "Get out so I can go to bed!"

Sirius' laughter was a full belly laugh now. "Sure. Do I get to meet miss Lex?"

"We are going to whatever the Mall is tomorrow," Harry told him.

"Sounds like fun. I'll pretend not to look once you start snogging," Sirius promised, laughing harder as he had to deflect a shoe thrown at him.

April 17, 1996

Washington, D.C.

Harry woke up screaming. He rolled off the bed, his wand coming to his hand and frantically scanning the room. His door burst open. "Stop!" Sirius yelled as Harry turned his wand to Sirius.

Harry was heaving, as though he had just been running as though his life depended on it. In his dream, it had. It had meant the life of a few people. What had surprised him was that Lex had joined Neville, Luna, Ginny, Ron and Hermione this time.

"Easy, Harry," Sirius said.

His eyes frantically looked Sirius up and down, looking for the massive cut that Bellatrix had done to him. In his night shorts and shirt, Harry didn't see any damage. It was only seeing Lex in a pair of short night shorts and a tank top that had him realizing he wasn't sleeping. Seeing her and Sirius alright, he slumped, his hand falling to his side and his wand clattering on the floor. It was the first time he had woken up screaming in a week or more.

Sirius approached. "You alright, pup?"

Harry let out a jagged breath. "I was in the Department of Mysteries again."

There was an understanding on Sirius face. "I'm sure they are all alright," Sirius soothed.

"Yeah," Harry agreed.

"Is everything okay?" Ms Murphy asked, coming to the door.

Sirius knelt to look at Harry before saying, "Yeah. It will be."

It was a few minutes for Sirius to assure everyone else and them to leave. Harry got to the chair. "Are you sure you're alright? Sirius asked in a concerned tone.

Harry looked up, seeing the same haunted look in Sirius eyes as he felt his own must have. "I just wish I knew that they were all alright."

Sirius put a hand on his upper arm and squeezed. "I'm sure they are. Why don't you try to get a little more sleep? It's only half-two."

"Sure," Harry said. Sirius searched his face for a moment when Harry didn't move. After another moment, he squeezed Harry's arm again. "It will be alright, pup. Now, get some sleep. You may need your strength tomorrow. She's quite a looker," Sirius said with a little grin. "Her mother is nice looking too."

"Git," Harry replied, making them both chuckle. It ended way too quick though.

"I mean it. Get back into bed and try to get some more sleep."

Harry let out a long breath. He couldn't get the looks of horror on his friends' faces out of his head. His heart hurt with how much he was missing them. "I'll lay down in a moment."

Sirius nodded and left the room. Harry leaned over and put his head in his hands.

It was close to six when Harry wondered down the stairs. He couldn't sleep and wanted some tea. It took him a little bit to find the kitchens in the basement. When he did, it was still empty and dark. Turning on the lights, it took him a good ten minutes to find a kettle, get the water going and then locate a cabinet full of teas, coffees and other drink packets. He took out a packet of Oolong tea. By the time he had a cup, the kettle was whistling.

He had just sat down when a woman in a white chef's cloak came into the kitchen. "It's not usual to find anyone in the kitchen," the woman said.

"I'm sorry, I need some tea. I'll get out of here," he told her.

"No. You can stay. I don't often get visitors, unless its catering crews for large events. Marie Wright," she said, moving about and getting things together for breakfast. Harry looked to the clock on the wall to see it was only about seven. She caught the movement. "Mr Hammond and Ms Murphy are early risers. They usually take breakfast together in the solar Saturday mornings."

Harry nodded his head. "What time does Lex usually get up?"

"If she sleeps in, about ten, but many mornings she goes swimming so is up about seven. Six during the week," she told him. "What would you like for breakfast?"

"Whatever you are making," Harry said, not wanting to have her do more than she needed.

"I was going to make blueberry pancakes and Mr Hammond likes poached eggs with hollandaise on the weekends," she told him.

"Eggs are fine."

It was about forty minutes later that Harry found himself on the second floor in a large glass room that went the width of the house and just barely fit in the small back yard. "I think the investors were impressed with you last night," Mr Hammond said.

"I didn't really say much," Harry replied.

"Sometimes dealing with the Japanese, it is better not to say much," the man told him.

"Dad, why would they be so interested in Harry? He's only, what? Sixteen?" Ms Murphy commented.

"That is a bit of an InGen secret, Lynne, but suffice it to say Harry and his godfather are quite important. If you want to accept my offer to work for InGen, you can find out," Mr Hammond said, sounding like this was an often brought up point.

Ms Murphy shook her head. "I enjoy what I do. So, Harry, where are you from? You sound British."

Harry cast a quick glance to Mr Hammond. "Surrey, about an hour outside London. There isn't much to really tell about it. All the houses looked the same and my relatives were dull people."

She didn't seem to buy that. "That seems rather mundane for my father to take such a liking to you."

Harry shrugged. He didn't lie. "I just happened to fall into one of Mr Hammonds projects and we hit it off."

Ms Murphy let out a mirthful exhalation. "I know my father. One just doesn't fall into one of his projects."

"No, Harry is about right. He just stumbled in one day," Mr Hammond said with a wink. Harry shrugged again.

"I still don't buy that. Are you still living in England?"

"Costa Rica now," Harry told her.

"Your relatives just recently moved there? What do your relatives do?"

"My godfather and I just moved there," Harry replied. "Right now, Sirius is working for Mr Hammond."

"And you are going to school?" she pressed.

"I have tutors that will be available to Harry," Mr Hammond said. "Lynne, why are you so interested in him? You usually don't care about my associates or their children."

Ms Murphy eyed Harry as she took up her cup of coffee. "No reason. Good morning, Lex."

Harry turned quickly to the door to see Lex in a pair of white jeans and a crop top, showing off her tone midriff. Harry tried not to stare. Luckily Lex gave him a little smile as she came to join them at the table.

"You are up early today, Lex," her mother said in a rather nonchalant tone.

Sitting down, Harry gave her a smile, really trying not to stare at her exposed midriff. "I thought we were going to the Mall today. Good morning, grandpa. Mom. Do you know what you want to see?" she asked to him.

Her mother had a knowing smile that Harry wasn't sure he liked. Mr Hammond looked as though he had just noticed something for the first time.

"I really don't know what the Mall is," Harry told her.

Lex looked surprised. "You don't know about the Mall by the capital building?"

"Should I?" Harry asked her as she let Mr Mason put a plate of blueberry pancakes down.

"Alexis, remember he grew up in England," Mr Hammond said.

"Oh, we have to go today. I'll take you through the Industrial Museum and the National Gallery. We should have enough time to go up the Washington Monument, see the Lincoln Memorial and then..." Lex started to say excitedly.

"Lex, you have to be back by four," her mum said. "I'm sure Tim will want to go through the Natural History Museum too."

"He just wants to go look at the dinosaur skeletons," Lex said.

"That could be interesting," Harry commented, getting a look from the blonde.

"Harry will still be here tomorrow. I don't think Mr Black or him have any plans and the plane won't take them back to Costa Rica until Monday morning," Mr Hammond said.

Lex gave a huge smile. "Wicked."

"What time do you want to go?" Harry asked

"The museums around the Mall open at ten. I'll let John know we want to go soon. Let me go get Tim going," Ms Murphy said.

"Can we just take the Metro today?" Lex asked.

"I don't see any issue with that. Why don't you let Alexis and Harry go in on their own and you can meet them a little later," Mr Hammond recommended.

"Dad, you don't usually like us going without John or someone," Ms Murphy said.

Lex frowned. She felt like he was missing something.

"I think Harry will be able to take care of Alexis," Mr Hammond said with confidence.

"Are you sure?" her mother sounded dubious.

"I promise I will not let anything happen," Harry told her. After a moment, Ms Murphy nodded.

When they went to break up, Mr Hammond asked him to stay behind for a moment. Once Lex and her mother were out of the solar, he took his hand above the table. "I know that you don't have any money." Mr Hammond put a wad of money into his hand.

Harry looked at it. He saw '20' in the corners. "I can't take that, Mr Hammond."

"Harry, I know that you and Sirius have no way to access any funds. I am going to start paying Sirius when we get back to the island. I want you to have this. Have a good time today," Mr Hammond said, putting the money into his hand before walking away. Harry looked at it. He wasn't sure, but if dollars were like pound notes, he had just been given a small fortune.

-oOo-

Later that day...

The Mall, Washington D.C.

As they left the Hisham Museum, she was disappointed. First, she had originally wanted to go to the Industrial Museum, but it was closed for some renovations. Second, it was still cool out, with a dull cloud cover over them. Lex had hoped for a sunny day. The cherry blossoms would be out soon. It was always nice to see the sun on the surface of the reflection pool. Instead, fat rain drops fell here and there.

"Where are we meeting them again?" Harry asked.

"Just down the road there," she indicated the large building about a quarter mile away on the other side of the huge green lawn between the two sides of the Mall.

Harry grabbed her hand. Lex's butterflies took off again. She had done that too him a few times today, usually dragging him off or making sure the subway doors of the Metro didn't close on him as he looked at a map. This time, he pulled her, and she followed happily.

"We may have to run. It looks ready to rain," he told her, moving towards a crosswalk. They were both in jackets, but she knew how uncomfortable a wet jacket could be having to go through the museums, so she matched his pace.

"It's not that bad yet," she yelled back.

He gave her a cheeky grin as they came to a stop, and he pressed the button. The sky was spitting fat drops of rain sporadically. He didn't let her hand go and she shifted so that her fingers wove between his. When he shifted his hand to make it easier, her heart thudded in her chest.

"What did you think of the museum?" she questioned.

"It was bril," he replied. She liked how he said that. Bril! That was summing this day up nicely. Harry went on, "I've only ever seen old paintings, or those of one style. I really liked those sculptures."

He sounded genuinely please, so she smiled. "Good. I'm glad you liked it."

The walk light turned white with a person walking. She was learning Harry was a very active person as he dragged her along again. It took a few steps to catch up to his running. The drops were starting to come a little quicker. "We don't need to run," she laughed as he kept going.

"Do you want to get wet?" Harry said next to her, not slowing.

"I'm not going to melt, if that is what you worry about," she replied.

Harry just gave her a wicked grin. "Good to know you're not a wicked witch."

She scoffed at him, hitting his arm and getting a laugh in return. "I am not a witch!"

Harry winked at her. "It wouldn't be a bad thing."

Something in the way he said it had her heart skip, as though he had meant it as a compliment.

As they ran, the rain droplets started to come more frequently. Harry slowed, let go of her hand, then unzipped his jacket. "Get under here," he told her, moving it to cover his head. She had to get close to him, having to wrap her arms around his waist before they took off at a slower pace than the dead run they had been maintaining. She was very happy she swam and worked out some, or she thought she would not be able to keep up with him.

By the time they made it to the Museum of Natural History, it had started to rain in earnest. "See, you didn't melt."

She laughed at him. "I'll take that as a compliment."

"You should. It's only the good witches that don't," he replied. "Besides, you look better this way than a melted puddle."

She giggled this time, her face feeling a little warm. Harry looked slightly flustered at his own words but only winked at her.

"I see you two are getting along well," Mr Black said.

"Harry! You have to see this," Tim enthused, bouncing over to them. Not letting Harry say a word, her brother grabbed his arm and started to drag him off towards a door to the right of the main entrance.

"What's the hurry?" Harry said, laughing as he grabbed her hand. Mr Black sniggered while she cast a look to her mom that said, 'What am I to do?'. Her mother just gave a small smile.

Tim dragged them along to the dinosaurs. "I told you they were that big," Tim said proudly, stopping before the tyrannosaurus rex.

Harry looked up at the skeleton while Tim started to spout off everything he knew about the dinosaur. "They were one of the largest carnivores. Most think it was slow moving, but some of the new theories say it could run up to thirty miles per hour," Tim was saying.

"It's more like seventeen," Harry said. Tim stopped.

"Seventeen what?" her brother asked.

"Seventeen miles per hour. Maybe twenty."

The way Harry said it, it was like he knew beyond any doubt that was a fact.

"How do you know that?" she asked.

Harry shrugged, as though trying to hide something. "I just do."

"That isn't what Dalworth says," Tim countered. "He has run calculations based on ostriches that show Tyrannosaurus Rex ran about thirty miles per hour. How else would he catch hadrosaurs or other duckbills?"

"Most of them run about the same speed but have more stamina. I think the T. Rex liked to either find carrion or stalk up onto its prey. They don't like to be in the open," Harry told him.

"That isn't what Dagwood or Grant say," Tim argued. "Where did you read that?"

"Just a report I saw," Harry replied.

Harry and her brother argued about it for a few more before Harry started another debate that the diplodocus didn't like to spend time in the water. She wasn't sure to be amused or not to see the sixteen-year-old boy arguing with her eleven-year-old brother. Her brother was getting flustered as Harry countered half his facts. When Tim wandered off to join their mom, she moved next to Harry. "I'm not sure I like you or not for getting him so frustrated. He can be so annoying at time with his dinosaur facts. Grandpa really encourages it though."

Harry chuckled. "I wasn't trying to annoy him, but half his facts are wrong. That's a weird one."

She brushed her hand against his as they looked at a display case.

"It's an oviraptor. You don't know that?" she asked with a hint of a laugh on her voice. He had known so many of the others. It was impossible to live with her brother and grandfather to not learn the basics of many of the most common dinosaurs. Harry wrapped his hand around hers, as though not realizing it.

Harry gave a little grin. "I don't know everything."

"How disappointing," she said, giggling when Harry pulled on her hand and then poked her side. "Hey!"

"Stop being so cheeky then," he shot back, squirming when she returned the favour.

Wow! She loved his accent!

"I am not being cheeky. Whatever that means," she retorted, trying to pull away when he poked her again.

"It means you are being a prat to me," he told her. She tried to poke him, and he deflected it this time.

"I think you two need to behave while we are here," her mother suddenly said over their shoulder. Lex gave a small, startled yelp before flushing. She pulled her hand away, Harry letting it go.

"Sorry, mom. He started it though," she said a little childishly.

"I won't let it happen again, Ms Murphy," Harry promised.

Her mom shook her head. "Come on you two. I think Tim has a question about the hadrosaur skull."

Walking over to Tim, Mr Black whispered something to Harry, making his eyes quickly go to her and then look embarrassed. It was rather cute.

"Harry, this says that the hadrosaurs could run faster," Tim said.

Harry shrugged. "I'm sure they are using the best information they have."

She was feeling a little bored by the time they were done. Leaving the museum, Tim was walking next to them. "Grant says that most dinosaurs were warm-blooded. I'm not sure about that, but some say that would explain how they got so large."

"Tim, no more dinosaurs," Lex complained.

"How about another museum?" Harry suggested.

"We should start heading back towards home," Ms Murphy said.

She didn't want to go home. "Could I take Harry out to the movies?"

"What's a movie?" Sirius asked.

"It's a long story, like the ones on the tellie, just on a huge screen, and no commercials," Harry answered. The man seemed to understand, but she was confused why he wouldn't know that before settling that it must be an English thing. She would have to ask what they called movies later.

"Not tonight, Lex," her mother told her.

"Why not?" she questioned, not liking the idea that her day with Harry was going to be coming to an end. It hadn't been a date, per se, but she had really enjoyed her day and liked how they were holding hands again.

"We need to get home," her mother told her.

"Tomorrow? It is my birthday tomorrow," she countered, hoping to have her mother cave in.

"Harry and I were actually going to catch a plane back to England tomorrow night," Sirius told them.

"I thought we were leaving Monday?" Harry shot back, looking disappointed.

"I think we need to get back home to check something out before we go back to the island," his godfather said significantly.

Harry huffed, his hand squeezing hers some. "Fine."

She gently squeezed his hand back.

"I'm sure we can find a way for you two to see each other again over the summer. I think my father was also looking into Harry going to school up here next year," her mother said.

Lex felt conflicted. Summer was still three months away and the next school year even further. At the same time, she would get to see him again. Harry looked as conflicted.

When they got back home, she was told to go up to her room and change into something nice. She could only take that as she needed to get ready for another dinner. "Joy," she muttered, as Harry went off with Mr Black for a moment to her grandpa's office. With a sigh, she plopped down on her bed when she got to her room. Rebecca was never going to believe her when she told her about her weekend and Harry.

Luckily, she wouldn't have to tell Rebecca about Harry when she walked into the dining room to shouts of, "Surprise!"

Lex started, before a huge smile came over her face. All her friends were here, her swim team, her father, and Harry. Her only frustration with the party was how Rebecca and a few others tried to monopolize Harry's time.
