A week, it's been that long since Leon last met with Claire personally, and he misses her more than ever. He is also worried that he is not by her side now that she could give birth at any time now. The doctor had warned them that women who carry multiple babies, specifically triplets will tend to have their water broken around the 34th week of pregnancy or earlier and Claire is in the 31st week. This also means that their babies would be almost a month premature if ever it does happen, so they have to prepare to stay at the hospital to further monitor and develop their lungs. He is also nervous that what if he's on duty and she has an emergency C-section? That would be absolutely devastating for him, he will most of all miss their first breaths and cries and he promised Claire that he would be by her side throughout the operation. Thoughts of what ifs run through his mind as he is on a quick break from field work, his job had finally caught up with him after weeks of being on call or idle.
He had been in another state for 6 days now, away from Claire and his babies, he had informed Claire on the phone that he will be away for a week or two and she understood, told him to stay safe and to don't worry about them as Chris, Jill, Rebecca and her other close friends are one call away from her, but this doesn't ease his mind, he wanted to be there and right now if it wasn't really required back then for him to accept the work he would've immediately declined it without hesitation to stay with his children's mother and assist her with everything she might need. But he was told by D.S.O. that it is as important as any other mission so he had no choice, he silently cursed to himself because of the timing, he's so torn but at this time, he really needs to focus and get the job done as fast as he can so he can get back as soon as possible.
A day later, and he had finished it, it was another typical mission he expected. He'll find the enemy, it will turn into a bigger bio weapon he had to defeat and he eventually did, it was nothing new to him. Now he sits in the D.S.O. rescue helicopter that will bring him back to his headquarters, most of all- back to Claire. He misses her so much, and all he can't think of now is only her now that he looks at the overlook of the city from his view inside the helicopter, he also remembered only now that he has a phone and he quickly gets it from his pocket and opened it, he taps his contacts and dialed Claire's number, he wanted to hear her voice now so puts the device to his ear as he waits the ring to be replaced by her sweet hello. Waiting for a bit and the ringing finally stops as she picks up the phone from the other side, he grinned expecting for her to speak up first but she didn't, unlike when he used to call her and she would happily greet, as all he hears on the other line is a faint breath, he thinks that she was probably pranking him so he decided to speak up.
"Hey Claire, how have you been? I'm finally done with my job and I'm currently on my way back to you, so expect my knock at your door later...I missed you and the triplets very much.", he joyfully told her, he is really excited to see her again...but that joy was soon replaced by fear when the person on the line spoke- and it wasn't Claire, the strange woman evilly laughs at him, "Leon S. Kennedy, how sweet of you to talk like that to your pregnant whore. Have you forgotten about me?"
Shock was what he felt when he recognized the voice, she had returned? his heart dropped to his stomach as the nervousness started to kick in, what is she doing with Claire's phone?, "Ada.", he stated briefly, before bombarded questioning her, "What did you do to her? Why do you have her phone? Where is she?...I swear to God if you hurted her-", he feared for the worse, even after years of knowing Ada Wong, he still doesn't know the limit of her capabilities and what he might've done to Claire and his unborn children.
"Would you relax, I didn't do anything to the bitch- I don't hurt pregnant women, I just simply borrowed her phone to talk to you...and it was timing that you called or else I would've conveniently stolen it.", she answered so casually as if she was just catching up with him, "And I think the woman is currently taking her beauty rest as we speak, I don't know and I don't care.", she scoffed, and it for the first time ever, it irritated Leon to the core, "You broke into her home just to contact me?! L-look Ada, if you have a problem with me come to me but don't you dare get her involved in this.", he quickly and firmly stated it to her, almost mad by what she just did.
"Alright then, I'll meet you at your condominium handsome.", she replied as she hung up, and he started shaking his leg uncontrollably as he closes his phone and placed it back in his pocket, he had to get there as soon as he can but a large part of him wants to visit Claire first, make sure she was really okay but he doesn't want for Ada to wait so he decided that it's best to go to his condo first and after run as fast as he could to Claire's. Thinking of it, the woman he had waited for for years had finally came back in his life, came back for him, that part of him he couldn't let go, but what he felt now that he found out wasn't what he expected, he felt- nothing...no excitement, no longing and he's confused and guilty at the same time, but he couldn't push himself to lie to himself and pretend either, maybe just- maybe once he sees her he will.
Arriving at his condominium door and it looks like she had already barged in as the wooden material is open, only leaving a tiny gap between the door frame and the thing itself. But he was already expecting it, after all, she is also a secret agent who has her ways. Entering his inside his home and the lights are off so he opens it by reaching for the light switches near the left side of the entrance and once the bright rays blinded him, he flinched as he saw the woman he oath to see in front of him, only difference is she is holding a combat knife against his neck- just centimeters away from cutting his jugular vein...like he hadn't already expected her to do that since she always does everytime they come across each other in the past.
"You're early, I actually expected you to check on the woman you got pregnant instead of directly coming here as soon you landed in the state...but I already guessed that you'll always chose me above any of your other side chicks.", she stated calmly, still holding the weapon in its position, "I did, but that's not the reason I came here first.", he said firmly, he knows she won't end him, at least she hadn't yet. She looked at him from head to toe before retreating the weapon to its case and Leon quickly acted to fight her, did flips and kicks then and there until he had her trapped on the floor with her facing the ground, his hand pressed against her arms, his left knee forced down on her legs to keep her in place.
This had been normal for the two, but now Leon is not very happy, he wanted to question her so badly, but she spoke first, "You're a bastard.", she insulted him and he scoffed, "Oh- so I'm the bastard now, after you decided to come back without any warning and you also barging into Claire's apartment like that?!", he shouted at her, and she replied soon after, "I've been watching you for months now, I didn't just return at this moment.", when he heard that, he naturally loosened his grip on her and stood up, walking away from her as he leans his hands and arms on his kitchen counter, shaking his head as he hangs his head.
Ada stood up slowly, dusting off her dress as she did while looking at him, "4 months ago, I saw you at the mall, buying from a baby store, I was supposed to return to you at that moment, but seeing you buy from that shop made me suspicious of what you've been up to...and I've stalked you ever since...every move, every action.", she paused, walking back and forth as Leon stayed in his panicked and confused state, "Turns out, you decided to fuck someone and get her pregnant while I'm gone- although...I actually expected you to at some point considering how much of a flirt you are and it's absolutely fine with me.", she came closer to him, also leaning on the counter to see his face, and he looks up, eyebrows scrunched down his eyes as he glares at her, "Since you could just not commit as a parent and run away with me instead, but from what I've observed for the past few months...you seemed to do so? What happened to the stone hearted man that I know?"
Upon Ada ending her connotation, Leon had come to a realization, "You really don't know me do you? After all these years...", it hurted him, the woman he loves with all his heart- does not acknowledge him at all, "I'm not the man you've just described, and I will never be who you thought I am...I would never abandon my own children.", he grunted his words as he got closer to her face now hands balled up as fists, intimidating her, it was his weak and trigger point, he is NOT his father.
She backed her head a bit, with a small grin on her mouth as she tried to appear unphased, "Alright, don't be triggered, okay- you won't...whatever, but you can leave their mother out of the conversation, you can still be a present father every now and then we'll live happily ever after."
Leon stared at Ada, he didn't like how she answered at all, the coldness of every reply, now he is totally certain of his decision, so he breathed heavily before replying, "No...I won't leave her."
