Well Pitches, I bet you thought this story wouldn't ever get an epilogue, well surprise, surprise, here it is and just in time for the holidays. So consider this an early Christmas gift!

I always wanted to do this version of Beca and Chloe justice by giving them an epilogue, I just didn't know where to begin after ending it, but earlier this year I reread the whole thing and I just started writing and what you see below naturally took shape. So here it is, I just hope I did it the justice it deserves...I but you guys thought I had fallen off the face of the earth, but I am here to tell you I didn't. I had hoped to get Part 1 of this out to you months ago with Part 2 sliding in just in time for the holidays, but as usual life and work happened.

I'm not sure how many of you are reading this fic for the first time or rereading it for who knows how many times, but I just want to say thank you! Every once in a while a review or a PM will come my way and it still warms my heart that this or any of my fics still garner such kind words! You guys are the best and why I love this fandom so much! As I said before this is one of those fics that I loved writing from start to finish.

Needless to say I hope this epilogue does my fic justice after all this time and kind of gives you insight into the the happy ending that we knew these two so desperately deserved.

Disclaimer: Nothing, I own absolutely nothing, of the PP franchise, no names, no themes, no songs, nothing. I do own everything else including any and all mistakes...

Anyways, enough rambling (lord knows there a ton in the words below)...On with the show!

EPILOGUE PART 1

Ten Years Later…

Adjusting the diaper bag over her shoulder Chloe leaned inside the SUV and smiled down at her and Beca's four month old son. He gave an equally big smile back and wiggled around excitedly. God he is perfect, he is probably the most perfect thing on the entire planet, and Chloe swears she could spend hours starring down at his cute little face. Next to her wife, Miles Thomas Mitchell, is the absolute love of her life.

A little over ten years ago Chloe never would have thought her life would end up like this. Yet here she is living her dream with a career she loves, an amazing wife, and she's now a mom. She has the whole white picket fence life and she has never been happier.

"Oh, so now you're a happy little guy?" Chloe laughed as she undid the safety strap across Miles's chest. "Where were all these smiles and laughs at the doctor's office?"

After easing Miles's arms through the straps, he scrunched up his little shoulders and gave a light squeal of delight when Chloe tickled his stomach.

"You're happy because you know we're at Mom's work! I bet you can hear the music." Lifting Miles out of his car seat, Chloe pressed a kiss to his cheek. "I bet if we ask nice, Mom might play something for us. What do you say?"

Becoming a mom is kind of everything Chloe had imagined it would be. She finally has a chance to be the type of parent she always wished her and her little sister had while growing up. Yet sometimes it's also not very glamorous and it definitely hasn't been without its own set challenges, rewarding challenges, but challenges nonetheless. Thankfully though she has the love and support of a truly amazing wife who has been right by her side on this crazy adventure.

Chloe honestly believes that Beca Mitchell was placed in her life at the exact moment she needed someone the most. If she hadn't met Beca there is no telling what direction her life would have taken or where she would even be right now. All she knows is that thanks to Beca Mitchell, Chloe is the happiest that she has ever been.

As Chloe lightly closed the SUV door, Miles wiggled against her, tucking his head under her chin and letting out what she can only term as a baby sized happy sigh. If Beca were here she would be laughing and saying how it was a 'typical Beale' move and well Beca's not wrong. From the moment Miles was born, he's been content to simply be held and cuddled, something Chloe freely admits that she loves doing too.

"I'm glad Mom didn't drive today," Chloe casually said, "that means we got to park in the teachers lot and not on the street. And we get to use the back entrance."

As they began making their way towards the building, Chloe brushed another gentle kiss to the top of his head. When they stepped inside the building, she perched her sunglasses on top of her head and looked around.

"OK, let's go find Mom."

Almost as soon as Chloe had stepped inside the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she could faintly hear the echo of music being practiced and students chatting from the small coffee shop at the end of the hallway.

Chloe absolutely loves visiting Beca here just as much as she loves visiting Beca at Hyde Street Studios. Both places have their own vibe and energy, but Beca creates a different kind of music here. Her wife seems to constantly buzz with excitement while teaching and playing music here because it's an environment with no pressures of creating that 'next big top ten hit'.

Yeah the critics were harsh on Beca when she announced that she was stepping away from mainstream music five years ago. Some even went as far to say that Beca's 'talent had gone to waste' but they don't see what Chloe sees every day. They don't see how truly fulfilled Beca is now or how Beca isn't stressed about deadlines or management deals. Believe it or not being a teacher and making jazz music are the types of creative and emotional outlets that Beca had so desperately needed for such a long time. And seeing Beca so enthused and fulfilled in life and with the music she makes, well that makes Chloe happy.

"Mrs. Mitchell, hi," Chloe came to a stop in the middle of the hallway. Turning, she found Beca's teaching assistant, Eric, excitedly hurrying towards them.

Chloe easily returned the man's smile, "I've told you countless times to call me Chloe."

"I know, but I like to keep it professional while at work." Coming to a stop in front of them, Eric pocketed his phone with an easy smile.

"But you work with Beca and we all know she's hardly professional," Chloe teased.

Eric laughed, "This is very true…Anyway, Dr. Mitchell didn't tell me that you two were stopping by."

Hearing 'Dr. Mitchell' still makes Chloe all giddy because another thing that has changed in the last ten years is that Beca got her PhD. It wasn't long into Beca's first year of teaching that she decided and was encouraged by a number of faculty members to pursue a PhD in jazz composition and performance. So, Beca did, but at her own pace and in her own time and two years ago, Beca had walked across the stage as the newly minted 'Dr. Mitchell'.

At the time, Chloe had never been prouder of her wife, but that moment is now runner-up to seeing Beca with their son. Watching Beca become a mother these last few months has been nothing short of amazing, because Beca is such a natural. Chloe always thought Beca was an incredible person, someone who is very kind and loving and thoughtful, but Beca really is so much more than that. And now seeing Beca with Miles sheds a whole new light on the person that Chloe fell in love with all those years ago.

"That's because she doesn't know we're visiting, right Miles?" Cocking her head, Chloe looked down at Miles who was staring up at Eric with wide eyes. "We decided to stop by as a surprise. I even brought lunch."

Eric lightly laughed, "Well I'm sure she'll be happy to see you two, she always is."

Chloe laughed too, "We hope so."

Miles let out a small laugh and Chloe just ran her hand gently along his back as Eric dipped down to eye level with the tiniest Mitchell. Seeing the new face pop into view startled Miles and he stopped laughing to grip onto Chloe's jacket.

"Miles," Chloe continued laugh, "you know Uncle Eric, he's your buddy." She looked at Eric apologetically, although still partly amused. "Usually he wants to go right to you."

"It's all good…" Eric laughed when Miles buried his face in Chloe's jacket. "I see how it is," standing up he shrugged looking back at Chloe, "you're just cooler than me today."

Eric has been Beca's teaching assistant for the past two years. Beca hadn't necessarily wanted or even needed a teaching assistant, but he'd been very persistent even going so far as to show up one night at Aubrey's deli to pled his case. In the end, he'd somehow managed to persuade the still slightly elusive and extremely private Beca Mitchell into becoming her teaching assistant and most recently the primary advisor for his own PhD.

Surprisingly, like Beca, jazz wasn't Eric's first career. He was a couple years older than Beca and had worked in San Francisco's financial district as some kind of data analyst and in his free time would play gigs around town at local jazz clubs as a saxophone player. He once told Chloe that he had absolutely no idea who Beca was when he stopped in to watch one of the schools monthly recitals. He simply happened to be there on an evening when Beca played with her students and he liked her style and how she added in touches of modern elements to an otherwise classic jazz styles. After seeing that and learning about Beca it inspired him to fully dive into his love for music and the rest is history.

"In Beca's words, he's being a little punk," Chloe continued to laugh.

Eric smiled at Chloe, "Aunt Jessica would say he's playing hard to get."

Another unique thing about Eric was that he was engaged to and had a baby on the way with Jessica. How they came about was really very sweet and romantic and everyone joked how it was a classic plotline in one of Jesse's romcom movies.

At the time, Jessica had been going through a rough patch after having called off a wedding and ending a six year relationship. With a little gentle persuasion on Chloe and Aubrey's part, Jessica had just started testing the dating waters again when she met Eric. Ironically, Jessica had been on a couple of really horrible blind dates, so when Hyde Street Studios New Year's Eve party came around, she opted to go alone instead of with 'the hot piece of ass' that Stacie had been trying to set her up with for weeks.

Chloe still remembers how surprised she was when on their way to the party Beca casually mentioned that she had invited Eric. They both had joked how perfect he would be for Jessica, but in the end, neither of them actually expected him to show up. Except he did and everyone, including Beca, had to do a doubletake when he entered the room. He had looked just so classically handsome in a smartly tailored dark blue tux with the bowtie undone, yet still loosely hanging around his neck.

The guy was gorgeous and for whatever reason after making the rounds he ended up sitting with Jessica watching the party from a small table in the back of the room. Jessica had kind of been stunned when he offered her a glass of champagne before sitting down and everyone watched in amusement as she listened to Eric ramble on about just coming from a gig downtown and that even though he wasn't much into parties he had made a special exception because Beca was his boss. The best part was Eric kept calling her Emily by mistake and in an effort to keep talking, Jessica spent the next hour keeping up that charade until Fat Amy blew her cover.

It was all good though because both Jessica and Eric had laughed about it and then spent the rest of the night together. Chloe even caught them dancing to a slow song amongst the sea of people at midnight when they thought no one was looking. Before leaving Eric had even asked Jessica out on a casual lunch date for the following day. Now it's been almost two years and they're engaged with a baby girl due at the end of the summer.

"Of course Jessica would say that," Chloe joked making them both chuckle. "But in this case," she shifted Miles to her other arm and he immediately rested his head against her shoulder, "he's being clingy because he had to visit the doctor this morning and got a couple of shots."

"Well no one likes those."

"I'm just thankful Beca had to teach this morning. I swear," Chloe let out an amused sigh, "Beca almost punched the last nurse who made him cry."

"I'm sure I'll be just as protective once Juliet arrives," Eric smiled and Chloe could tell the man was nervous yet excited to be a first time dad. "Jessica tells me all the time to calm down and let the professionals handle it."

"I tell Beca that too," Chloe grinned, "although, Beca can't stop being Beca."

Just thinking about how Beca is with their son makes Chloe love her wife even more. It's not just during medical visits, it's everything, even the simplest of things that Beca does that are just so inspiring. It's in the way Beca reads him a book every night, sings to him while giving him a bath, or gets up in the middle of the night to comfort without complaint. It's in the way Beca looks at him with so much love and affection as she lays on the floor with him during tummy time or shields his eyes from the water during bath time.

Three Months Ago…

This week has been one of those randomly really cold weeks in San Francisco where there has been no sun because it was either cloudy or raining. For the most part they haven't ventured out of the house much except for a few grocery store runs, doctor's appointments, and the occasional visit to Aubrey and Jesse's. They have simply been staying at home with their newborn son adjusting to life as a party of three.

Miles is just the greatest and being a mom has fulfilled Chloe in ways she can't even begin to explain. Yet however great motherhood was it has also been just as equally exhausting. That's why Chloe was completely surprised today when Beca offered to be on 'fulltime kid duty' in an effort to give Chloe some time to herself to do whatever she wanted for as long as she wanted.

So, Chloe had spent a few hours after lunch taking a much needed nap followed by a nice long bath. After that she had fully intended to visit Aubrey at the deli and them go for an early dinner, but instead she opted to swing by Target and the grocery store. She probably Facetimed with Beca four times while she was gone and each time Beca answered with a smile and reassuring words that everyone was happy and everything was fine at home. She wasn't overly worried something would happen, Miles was in great hands with Beca, but it was the first time she had ventured away from the house completely alone and she was having a case of the new mom jitters.

Now though as Chloe pulls back into the garage and kills the engine, she's happy to be back home. It was refreshing to get out and do routine things again even if it was mostly spent wandering up and down store aisles or trying to figure out what to make for dinner.

After entering the kitchen and setting the grocery bags on the kitchen counter, Chloe stashed a few things in the refrigerator before setting off in search of her family.

Heading up the stairs, Chloe ventured into the place where they spent a majority of their time on any given day, the family room. A couple of years ago they totally remodeled Beca's house and turned what was a weirdly laid out second floor into a spacious family room centered around the fireplace and giant windows that overlooked San Francisco Bay.

The family room runs neck-in-neck with her art studio as one of Chloe's favorite places to be. They kept the room inviting by adding warm color tones, overly comfortable furniture, and a huge TV with the best surround sound system money could buy, and of course a piano. It's the place where all their friends want to be when they visit and she has lost count of how many times she has found someone asleep on one of the sofas.

Hearing the sounds of music as she came to a stop on the second floor landing, Chloe knew her guess on where her family could be was spot on. The best part was, she didn't hear any crying, which was always a good sign.

Moving across the room, Chloe smiled seeing Beca stretched out on a giant sofa that faced one of the large picture windows. A book was resting on the arm of the sofa along with her wife's glasses neatly folded on top of it. Beca's head was tilted back and her eyes closed.

After all this time it still takes Chloe's breath away with how beautiful Beca is. And Chloe also freely admits that the whole mom vibe Beca's had going on this past month is also incredibly hot.

"Hey sexy…" Chloe softly whispered.

Lifting her head, Beca turned slightly and smiled over her shoulder.

"Hey gorgeous," Beca said in an equally quiet, yet sleepy tone. "You're back early…"

"I know…" Chloe stopped at the back of the sofa and dipped down to give a quick kiss. "I missed you guys."

"We missed you too…" Beca gave a tired yawn behind her hand. "I take it dinner with Aubrey was a no go?" She smiled getting a second kiss. "I love you."

"Love you too and I took a raincheck with Aubrey." Stepping around the sofa, Chloe kicked off her shoes. "I couldn't endure," she joked, "being away from you two any longer."

"Well you do love my charming ways."

"True," Chloe laughed, "but…"

"You can say it," Beca watched her wife step in front of her, "I'm chop liver next to Miles now. He's who you really came home to see."

Chloe good naturedly rolled her eyes, "Speaking of Miles, where…"

Chloe's question trailed off as her eyes landed on Beca and what she saw made her snort out a laugh. Beca was wearing this grey zip up hoody that had a soft fleece lining, but the best part was is Miles was tucked away inside. The hoodie was partially zipped and Miles visible from the chest up. He was awake and blinking up at her with one of his little hands holding onto the edge of the hoodie. He and Beca seemed happily content to be exactly where they were.

"Well aren't you two just the cutest things ever?" Chloe questioned with a coo. Kneeling down for a closer look she laughed. "Babe, we have blankets for him if he's cold."

"I know," Beca defended although she was holding back a laugh because Miles hadn't exactly protested his current position, in fact he seemed to rather like it. "I was going to get one so we could nap together, but as soon as I wrapped my jacket around him, he started making happy baby noises."

"So you just left him?"

"Pretty much."

"And you grabbed your book instead?"

"Yeah," Beca pressed a light kiss to the top of their son's head. "I've been waiting for him to doze off so I can move him, but he's just been super chill."

"Well," resting her hands on Beca's knees, Chloe leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on her wife's lips, "as long as he's happy."

Perching herself on the arm of the sofa Chloe just gazed down at her perfect little family. Miles was so tiny and a part of Chloe wants to keep him this way forever because she loves seeing little moments like this. Plus she kind of loves watching and discovering the different sides of motherhood with Beca. It has been a blast, but if they ever decide to have more children, things will never be like this again. It will still be just as exciting, but it will still be different.

"I really love being a mom," Beca confided in such a tender tone that it made Chloe's blue eyes snap to hers and somehow sparkle with love even more. "After my mom died, my world shattered, and I had no clue where I would end up in life. If you were to ask my twenty year old self where I'd be in my thirties, I definitely wouldn't have said this," she gestured to Miles and her wedding ring. "I have this amazing life now."

Working a finger into Miles's little grasp, Beca about melted when his fingers wrapped around it.

"The day he was born, it was like the one of the scariest yet happiest days of my life," resting her head against the back of the sofa, Beca saw Chloe lovingly smiling at her, "but then that night as I held him, I don't know. My world changed." She ran her thumb over a tiny set of fingers. "We're a month into being parents and I wouldn't change a thing I've went through to get here."

"I'm happy for all the same reasons." Running her fingers through brunette hair, Chloe lightly massaged her love's scalp. "I had shit parents and my life sucked, but then I met you and you made my spiraling stop. You loved me and continue to love me and now we have a beautiful family."

"I still can't believe everything is real sometimes."

"Me too…" Chloe held back a yawn. "Just think we're lucky enough to have Miles way earlier than planned."

"He really was the best Christmas present ever," Beca confirmed. "Unexpected, but still the best."

To say Miles Thomas Mitchell came unexpectedly would be an understatement. Neither she or Beca had at all been prepared when he decided to make his appearance six weeks early at 7:47PM on Christmas Day. One minute they were lounging around after having an early dinner and the next Chloe felt a sharp pain and started going into labor.

Weighing in at just about five pounds, they had barely gotten to hold Miles before he was rushed off to the NICU. Thankfully he had no complications and it was done as more of a precaution than anything else. It wasn't fun seeing their son spend the first week of his life in the NICU, but Beca realizes that things could be a lot worse and they were extremely lucky to have a healthy baby boy.

"So, my love, what would you like for dinner?" Beca shifted a bit but kept Miles safely cradled against her inside the hoodie. "I can pick up whatever you want or attempt to make something."

"Do you mind if I cook?" Chloe tentatively asked tucking a strand of hair behind and ear. "It's been so long since we've had a real homecooked meal, I know we could both use it. Even if we don't get to sit down until after our little guy is asleep."

Since bringing Miles home they have practically lived off of takeout or quick and easy meals that don't require much prep work. So Chloe knows that any kind of meal where it was thought out and they get to sit at the table and just talk would be a welcome change.

Beca gave a tired smile, "That sounds great."

Miles wiggled around in Beca's hoodie and gave a hint of a cry making them both look down. After a few seconds of crying he gave a big yawn and stretched his arms before settling back down and closing his eyes.

"How is he so perfect?" Beca sighed.

"The way you gush over him is super sexy," Chloe gave a wink. "Like if I saw you out with him and didn't see a wedding ring," she glanced down to the solid gold band on her wife's left hand, it was identical to the one she wore alongside her engagement ring, "I'd be all about trying to get your number."

Beca just shook her head and lightly laughed, "Good thing you got my number a long time ago."

Lightly cupping her wife's cheeks, Chloe dipped down and whispered, "I'm so in love with you Beca Mitchell," before giving a tender kiss, "so completely in love."

"If you weren't, it'd be kinda weird considering we have a kid together," Beca mumbled but felt Chloe's smile against her lips. Chloe tried to pull away but she held the hands in place. "One more for the road…"

The kiss was gentle, the kind that always tends to make Beca weak in the knees. She has been with Chloe so long now that she should be used to the feeling she gets when Chloe kisses her, but she's just not and she loves that. Kissing Chloe still surprises her and lights up her world in so many ways and always leaves her a bit breathless.

"I love you."

"I love you more."

"Come and slide in beside us Momma," Beca patted the open space beside her. "Let's watch the rain together as a family. Miles told me he misses you and wants extra snuggles."

"Just Miles, huh?"

"That's my story and I'm sticking to it…"

Kneeling down, Chloe slowly slid the zipper down on Beca's hoodie. Her hands stilled when Miles's eyes fluttered open to stare up at her and her heart melted because he was just so beautiful.

When their eyes connected, Beca smirked, "You done this before Mrs. Mitchell?"

"A few times," Chloe grinned as she finished unzipping the hoodie. "And before your dirty mind says something back," she knew exactly what Beca's look meant, "just know you're not alone in your frustration."

Beca innocently glanced away from her wife's fingers, "I wasn't going to say anything."

"Right…" Opening the hoodie, Chloe's eyes locked with Beca's, "I don't think we've gone this long without it ever."

"So you are counting?" Beca grinned as Chloe lightly rolled her eyes. "I knew it!"

Chloe tried to avoid eye contact because yes she had been counting, but not until earlier this week when she realized the date she was given by the doctor for her and Beca to start sleeping together again was only a handful of days away. So, instead of giving Beca the satisfaction of admitting anything she quickly lifted Miles from her wife's arms and diverted her attention to him.

"How's my handsome guy?" Chloe pressed her lips to the side of Miles's head and lightly rocked him back and forth. Her eyes landed on Beca who gave her a wink. "Did you give your other Mom a hard time like I asked?"

"We survived…barely…" Beca teased reaching for the big fluffy blanket at her feet. "Really though, he was great. He napped after you left and I got some laundry done." She shook the blanket out. "We also watched some cartoons while he ate, then he promptly crashed into a milk coma and I worked on a little bit of music downstairs."

Sitting down, Chloe stretched her legs out next to her wife's and got comfortable. After Beca tossed the blanket over their legs, she snuggled into her wife's side.

"He woke up maybe a half hour before you got home and we've just been hanging out."

"Sounds like you two had fun." Chloe laughed hearing a yawn and then a few seconds later Miles did the same as he wiggled against her.

"We did, but we missed you." Chloe kissed Beca's temple as she spoke. "Even though you were only gone a few hours, it was nice spending some alone time with him." Resting her head against the sofa cushion, Beca closed her eyes. "I think me and him kinda had a moment, either that or he gave me one of those creepy baby stares while I was playing the piano." They both laughed. "Really though, I was a bit nervous when you first left. This is the first time I've been alone with him without you somewhere in the house."

"You did great my love," Chloe softly kissed a cheek and she loved the small smile that slipped on Beca's lips. "He's lucky to have you…we're lucky to have you."

Resting her head against Beca's shoulder, Chloe continued to gently rub Miles's back. They were quiet for a few minutes, so quiet that she actually thought that Beca might have fallen asleep until she heard a tired sigh.

"What's the matter?"

Beca opened her eyes and looked up at the ceiling, "I'm worried about going back to work next week."

Chloe lifted her head and quietly regarded her wife, "Are you worried I'll need help, because both Aubrey and Aubrey's mom said they could stop by if I need them too."

"No, after seeing how strong you were in labor and every moment since then, I'm convinced you can handle it all."

"Ok," Chloe caressed Beca's thigh, "then what's wrong?"

Rubbing and eye, Beca tiredly sighed again, "I'm worried I won't bond with him or that I'll miss out on something important because I'll be working." She frowned. "I feel so selfish going off to make music when I could be at home with my family."

Beca tilted her head and found Miles staring up at her from where he was nestled against Chloe.

"Babe, parents of newborns go back to work all the time," Chloe gently began. "As long as you continue to be the all-around amazing Mom that you already are, you'll have nothing to worry about."

"You think so?"

"Yeah, of course…"

Beca brushed a finger along her son's cheek, making his eyes flutter shut.

Dropping her hand, Beca glanced back up at her wife, "I'm still trying to figure out how this whole mom thing works."

After giving a soft smile, Chloe easily reassured, "I'm sure what you're feeling is completely normal." After a brief pause she added, "Your Mom worked when you were little and look how close you two were. You and Miles will have that same kind of bond too."

Beca thought for a few seconds, "You always know the right things to say to me. You're really good at it."

"That's why I'm here, it's one of the many reasons why you married me."

"Huh, and here I thought it was just because of your good looks," Beca teased, but got a playful slap anyways. Capturing Chloe's hand, she laced their fingers together. "Really though, it kinda hit me today while you were gone that the routine we've created this past month was ending."

"We have been in a bit of a bubble."

"I wish I had more time off."

"I'll never complain about having you at home more, but I also know how much you love your job and love making music," Chloe quietly stated making Beca hum in agreement. "You have to be looking forward to getting back your students?"

"I am, I honestly love it way more than I ever thought I would."

"Besides marrying me," Beca chuckled at Chloe's mater-of-fact statement, "I think the smartest thing you ever did was agree to teach that one class all those years ago. Look at the life it's given you and us."

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Jazz department is probably the most laid back place that Beca has ever worked. She gets to pick and choose the types of classes she teaches and the kind of music they make each semester, they even go as far as to give her the option of doing online classes, which she takes full advantage of.

During the summertime, Beca typically doesn't teach anything and that's when she and Chloe travel. Although she does actively mentor Eric and she helps students with arrangements and general music theory questions when they pop up. For the fall semester they typically spend their time at her Malibu beach house and Beca teaches a couple of online classes and a performance technique class that meets for a few hours every other Saturday afternoon.

The Saturday class isn't really a class, it's just a single credit hour elective that mainly is an excuse for her and some of her students to jam for a few hours every couple of weeks. It's one of her most popular classes, but unlike her others, this class isn't open to everyone, it's only open to senior level jazz performance students. Honestly, that class doesn't have any real structure or grading scale, they pretty much come in and play whatever they feel like on any given day. Hell the only reason they participate in the end of the semester recital is because she has to have something in her syllabus that shows how her students earn their grade.

When the spring semester rolls around and they are back in San Francisco, Beca teaches in person fulltime. It's definitely a busy few months and not only does she teach classes, but she also leads a couple of the jazz department's advanced performance ensembles. Compared to her 'for fun' Saturday class, these performance classes are well structed and meet multiple times a week. She absolutely loves them just as much as her Saturday class because they really showcase her talented students.

So needless to say, Beca doesn't live a typical 'college professor' lifestyle. Thankfully her job gives her, within reason, the flexibility to do pretty much whatever she wants and she's found an incredible balance in her life because of it.

The world that once was DJ Titanium for the most part is gone. Beca hasn't gone by that moniker in close to a decade and she has pretty much left the high paced money driven world of mainstream music behind. She still continues to actively write songs and occasionally she will sell some off or produce a few for select tracks artists, but it's all on her own terms and schedule. She still owns Hyde Street Studios and operates out of there when needed, but for the day-to-day operations she lets Jesse and Emily run the show.

And now with a newborn at home Beca is even more happy with the direction her has taken.

"Marrying you was without a doubt the best decision I've ever made," Beca reiterated making Chloe smile. "A close second is having a kid with you." Her own smile softened. "You and him are the two things I know with certainty that I got right in my life."

"And where does teaching and getting your PhD fall on your 'best decisions list'?" Chloe joked even though she knows how much Beca values what they have created together.

Resting her head against the plush sofa cushion, Beca closed her eyes in thought. After a solid minute of thinking she kissed the back of Chloe then spoke.

"Probably in my top ten…But my life has evolved into so much more than just my music and my career and you're at the reason for it. I love how you continue to support me through everything."

"And I always will, you're the love of my life," Chloe whispered pressing her lips to Beca's cheek. "I seriously can't wait to bring Miles to his first concert! He'll get to hear all your music and I'll get to see my hot wife in action."

Looking over, Beca just laughed, "The students are the real stars."

"But I only have eyes for you." Chloe got a wink for that. "I have faith that you can be both a stellar mom and badass teacher all at the same time. So don't worry, you can handle it."

Tilting her head, Chloe checked on their son and found him fast asleep with his little hand clutching her shirt.

"Why do you always have to be right?" Beca teased making Chloe's eyes venture to hers again.

Without missing a beat, Chloe joked right back, "Because I'm your wife, I'm always right."

"Ain't that the truth…"

Dodging a playful slap, Beca continued to chuckle. She really is eternally grateful to have someone like Chloe by her side. Chloe literally keeps their life running smoothly, keeps their home in order, and for whatever reason after all these years still somehow puts up with her late night wandering and all her shenanigans and dramatics. In all honesty Beca wouldn't know how to navigate life or know what true love is if it weren't for Chloe. Chloe has been the best and the most supportive partner that Beca could have ever asked for.

They were quiet for a little while as they curled up as a family on the sofa watching the rain pelt the windows and slide down in uneven rhythms. It was peaceful and relaxing and Beca thinks it's the quiet moments like this that she loves the most. Chloe is still the one person in her life that can instantly calm her racing mind and get her relax.

"So, I have a small proposal," Chloe broke the comfortable silence as she gently rubbed soothing circles over Miles's back.

"I did the proposing years ago," Beca acknowledged without looking away from the window, "you said yes," she dramatically paused then quickly added, "I think…"

Chloe just rolled her eyes, "I did say yes…Although I question that decision sometimes."

Playfully gasping, Beca clutched her heart, "What?"

Kissing a cheek, Chloe grinned, "Quit being cute," she saw a small smirk pull at Beca's lips, "and quit trying to distract me."

Beca held her hands up in defense, making them both laugh, "I thought you liked cute?"

"Unfortunately I do…" Chloe stole another quick kiss. "Anyways, what I was trying to suggest before you distracted me is that if you're still worried about not spending enough time with him, why don't you two do something each day that's just you and him." Beca popped an eyebrow in question. "I'll find something to do and vanish for a bit."

"You wouldn't mind?"

"No, never."

Beca let out a long breath, "What do I do?"

"Why don't you start with bath time?" Chloe let the question linger as she turned her gaze back to the rain covered window. After a few minutes passed she added, "I know how much you love it."

"I do love it," Beca chuckled, "I guess I'll start with that until I can come up with something else."

"Sounds great my love," Chloe patted Beca's leg.

Chloe watched her wife's fingers twist the gold wedding band, a nervous tick that has just about replaced Beca's finger tapping.

"You know, once you get into a routine and actually see that you aren't missing anything with him or me, everything will be ok, right?" Chloe asked.

"Yeah I know…"

Chloe gave yawn. "Sorry, I got tired all the sudden…"

"It's ok…"

"You mind if I close my eyes for a few minutes?" That earned Chloe a quiet laugh. Covering her mouth, she yawned again then rested her head against the sofa cushion and looked over at her wife, "What? I swear I'm not gonna nap."

"Come here dude," Beca easily took Miles from Chloe. "Babe, why don't you go to bed?"

"Because I'm hungry and I need to feed Miles soon."

"I can give him a bottle after his bath and then put him down for the night." Beca kissed Chloe's temple. "I'll bring you food after that if you want."

Shifting around, Chloe stretched out along the couch and propped her feet in Beca's lap, "Wake me ten minutes and then I'll go start dinner."

Beca just shook her head in amusement, "If you say so…"

Chloe isn't exactly sure how long she was asleep but when she wakes up the sun has completely set and Beca and Miles were gone. She just had the best power nap ever and although she could close her eyes and go right back to sleep, she should get up so she isn't awake all night.

As she stretched, Chloe laughed, mainly at herself, because despite having taken a long nap earlier today, somehow she still managed to fall asleep almost as soon as she sat down.

Pushing herself up and off the sofa, Chloe figured the least she could do was to attempt to make dinner like she promised. First though she was going to tackle folding that load of laundry Beca had mentioned earlier.

During the entire walk to the laundry room Chloe had to mentally prepare herself to match about a dozen baby socks, except when she turned on the light, she was pleasantly surprised to find everything completely organized and the laundry neatly folded.

Snagging the basket, Chloe headed upstairs to put everything away and then change into something more comfortable before starting dinner.

As Chloe entered Miles's bedroom, she heard water running and muffled cries coming from the bathroom. The cries and water meant bath time for Miles. For the most part he tolerates bath time, but he absolutely hates when they pour water over his head. They have tried everything they could think of to make it better, but nothing really works. So they usually just try to get that part over with as fast as possible.

"Ok, ok, there's no need for all this crying." Beca's laughter floated over the cries. "Miles, it's just water and you shouldn't be surprised, I told you we were starting with this first and now you want to be all dramatic about it."

As Chloe put the laundry away she slightly laughed because the amusement was very evident in Beca's tone over Miles's obvious protests.

"Why don't you don't get upset like this when Grandma Grace gives you a bath?"

'Grandma Grace' was Aubrey's mother who had lovingly stepped in to help them after Miles was born. At first they thought they could handle it, but it took them about three days of nearly no sleep after bringing Miles home to take Grace Posen up on her offer to help them adjust to life with a newborn.

Aubrey's parents, Grace and Robert Posen, were nothing short of the nicest people ever, everyone loved them, especially Beca. Grace had retired as a corporate lawyer a few years ago and Robert, although retired military, currently worked in finance as some kind of asset manager. Robert's company, and him in particular, have been the ones handling all of Beca's personal finances since her mother died and that includes everything dealing with Hyde Street Studios and DJ Titanium.

The couple watch out for Beca just as much as they do their own daughter, they even call Beca weekly to check in. So when Aubrey says that she and Beca fight like siblings it's because they practically are. It took Chloe a long time to really understand everything the Posen's and Aubrey had done for Beca and it's nice knowing that Beca had a proper support system after her mother died and that Beca has never forgotten that.

The first time Chloe met Aubrey's parents was when she was working a shift at the deli. It wasn't until Beca showed up and cracked a joke about how she didn't understand how Robert and Grace could eat dinner at a place with such a quote 'hardnosed pain in the ass' owner.

"Ok, I'm rinsing your head again," Beca all but laughed.

Peaking her head around the bathroom door, Chloe found Beca gently pouring water over Miles's head while shielding his face with her free hand. Miles on the other hand was doing his very best to protest the whole thing by continuing to cry as he flailed his little arms and legs. Thankfully he was still tiny enough that he couldn't do much damage except for splashing a little water on her wife's t-shirt.

Filling the cup again, Beca poured the warm water over Miles's shoulders and chest which seemed to help settle him down a bit. Setting the cup aside, Beca reached for the soap and applied a small amount to a washcloth.

"See, the worst part is over now," Beca smiled down as she worked the soap into a lather.

His crying subsided when Beca began running the washcloth under his chin and across his chest. As Beca lightly hummed, Miles just stared up at Beca, and Chloe knew that Grandma Grace wasn't the only one who could expertly give Miles a bath.

Chloe couldn't help but melt just a little watching Beca lean down and press her lips to his tiny forehead and whisper, "I love you."

The whole small interaction made Chloe's heart do flipflops because Beca is such a great mom already. Despite how Beca seems to constantly question herself, Chloe knows for a fact that Beca is 'doing this whole the mom thing right' without even realizing it.

When Beca pulled back and smiled down, Miles seemed to calm even more and continued looking up at her with wide eyes. When he starts smiling, Chloe knows he will smile each time Beca says that to him. And Chloe knows that because she smiles each time Beca says it to her.

"You look at me like your other mom looked at me the first time I ever told her that I loved her. At the time it was a really emotional moment and I just kind of blurted it out. Then I proceeded to pour my heart out to her and she looked at me with the same blue eyes you have. I think she was scared after I first said it," Beca absentmindedly stated as she gently washed his chest. "Not scared because I said it, scared because no one had ever really said it to her before and meant it."

So, all that was absolutely true, Chloe remembers that night like it was yesterday because it had been one of the most vulnerable moments in her entire life. Hearing that someone loved her was a first and at that point in her life love was something she never thought she would get to experience. Except Beca had changed her whole outlook on life, Beca had slowly crept in and redefined everything she had previously thought love was supposed to be.

"It's ok to have other people you love or think you love before you find the right one," Chloe's eyes ventured back to Beca's reflection from where she had been staring at the tiled floor. "But when that right person comes along," she dunked the washcloth in the water and lathered it up again, "trust me, you'll know. I fell so hard for your Mom and when we finally kissed, bro," she gave a low whistle, "I knew it was game over."

Their first real kiss is one of those moments that Chloe constantly replays in her mind in extreme detail. Like she still remembers the outfit she wore, the songs they played on the piano, and their exact dinner order from the Chinese restaurant. She even remembers how nervous she had been in the seconds leading up to the kiss and how fast her heart had been beating. Yet the truly amazing thing was the instant Beca kissed her all those insecurities vanished. For lack of a better phrase it was 'game over' for her too as she stood in Beca's studio, pressed up against the soundboard with Beca's hands low on her hips and her arms hanging loosely around Beca's neck, kissing Beca with everything that she had.

"You look so much like your Mom already."

If Chloe wasn't watching the little scene unfold in the mirror hidden behind a partially closed door, she would still be able to tell just by Beca's tone of voice that her wife was smiling.

"And I'm like super in love with her too." Beca lifted a little arm to gently wash it while Miles continued to stare at her. "I'm sure at some point you'll be annoyed by how often we hold hands or say I love you. But you know what?"

Beca paused and got down to eye level with him and put on a semi-serious face, Chloe thought it was extremely cute.

"She didn't grow up with enough people telling her that she is loved. So I never want her to go a day without hearing it from me…Now," Beca stood, "give me those fingers. I want all five of them, don't just me the finger."

Beca seemed to laugh at her own inappropriate joke and Chloe couldn't help but roll her eyes because of course Beca would say something like that. At least Beca isn't showing him how to give anyone 'the finger', although Chloe knows it's only a matter of time before he naturally picks it up because of how often Beca gives it to Jesse.

"Yep," Beca pried the tiny hand open and gently ran the soapy washcloth over it, "all fingers accounted for." Lifting both feet, she began animatedly counting each toe. "Ten toes too, ten cute toes, so cute that I almost lost count." Miles just stared at her making her laugh. "Nothing, really? I'm giving you quality stuff here and I don't even get a smile?" Without much thought she deadpanned, "Tough crowd."

Beca continued on with her task and began humming again as she made sure to be extra careful washing Miles's back. Beca is so sweet and so loving with him and it constantly amazes Chloe just how confident her wife is when no one is watching.

Setting the wash cloth aside, Beca reached for the small cup again.

"See, that wasn't so bad, was it?" Beca asked as she slowly ran warm clean water over Miles. "Tomorrow night," she rinsed the last of the suds off his shoulders and chest making him scrunch up, "I'll step up my game and make the washcloth talk. How's that sound?"

At that, Chloe clapped a hand over her mouth to stifle a laugh, she would pay large amounts of money to see that.

"Now to make you even happier, guess what I got?" Beca looked around and frowned realizing she forgot to bring the hippopotamus towel with the hood and ears with her from the laundry room. "Well I was going to have a nice warm towel for you but…" she franticly looked around the bathroom again. "Shit…"

Not being able to hide anymore, Chloe pushed the door open with a laugh and slipped inside the bathroom with the clean clothes hamper that just so happened to have said towel right on the top.

Giving a soft cheek kiss, Chloe smiled, "I think I can help you with that." She held the towel out after setting the basket down. "You can thank me later."

Beca gave an appreciative smile, "What would I ever do without you?"

"That's a great question, where should I begin?" Chloe teased. Resting her hip against the sink she smiled as she watch Beca and Miles. "You're really good with him," she saw a deep blush creep up her love's cheeks. "I mean it. Don't ever doubt yourself."

"I'm trying to do it right."

"You are," Chloe smiled. "Thanks for letting me sleep."

"You're welcome…" Fluffing the towel, Beca ran her hands over the soft fabric. "Ok dude let's get you dressed!"

Beca gently picked Miles up and wrapped him in the towel ensuring that his head was covered by the little hippopotamus hood. The towel was made for a toddler and bigger than he would ever need right now, but it was a gift from Amy. Honestly out of all the things Amy could have given at Chloe's baby shower this was something that was surprisingly tasteful and useful. Although Amy did preface the gift by proclaiming she was the 'best hippopotamus wrangler in all of Tasmania' and if they didn't believe her they could ask one of her multiple boyfriends.

Seeing his eyes covered, Beca quickly adjusted the towel "There's the cutest kid in town."

Chloe followed her wife out of the bathroom, "I feel bad I fell asleep, you were supposed to wake me up."

"Don't worry about it."

"But you should have been the one napping after I practically had the whole day off from mom duties."

"Chlo, you obviously needed it…" Cradling Miles against her, Beca turned with a smile. "We didn't do much after you fell asleep anyway. Folding laundry and putting the rest of your groceries away was as exciting as it got."

"You're the best," Chloe slipped past her wife. "How long was I out?"

"At most an hour," Beca laid Miles on the changing tabled and finished drying him off.

Chloe watched Beca reach for a diaper and then make funny faces at Miles while putting it on then after she finished she tickled his stomach making him squirm. The whole little interaction earned a small amused chuckle out of her wife making Chloe grin.

"Do you mind if I postpone making dinner until tomorrow?"

"I figured that would be the case when I heard you snoring." Beca dodged a halfhearted slap while still keeping a protective hand on Miles. "If you let me finish," Chloe just continued to laugh, "I was going to add that I went ahead and ordered from our usual Chinese spot. It's why I forgot the towel."

Chloe popped an eyebrow, "Is that so?"

"It's hard juggling a squirming baby while making sure the restaurant puts extra wontons in your soup," Beca nonchalantly said giving what little hair Miles had on his head a final dry with the towel. "It'll be here around eight."

"Miles should be down for the night by then."

"That's exactly why I scheduled it for delivery then."

Chloe stretched her arms above her head, "Want to eat food out of the containers while we trash talk bad reality TV like we used to?"

"You're speaking my love language Mrs. Mitchell," Beca joked. "Although we'll have to abstain from the traditional six pack of beer we usually have with it for the time being since you're breastfeeding."

"Damn…" Dropping her arms, Chloe playfully frowned. "I guess I'll survive."

"So, I was thinking…" Beca carefully slide Miles's legs into his pajamas. "If you're up for it, Stacie offered to watch Miles one night next week…"

Beca paused to cautiously choose her next words. What she was going to suggest wasn't weird but the thing was they would have to leave Miles at home without one of them there, which would be a first. She knew just the thought of that was enough to make Chloe nervous.

Beca looked up from her task. "I was thinking we could do a date night. Dinner and a movie or dinner or coffee or even just a walk…The point being, just us doing something together alone for a little while."

Chloe bit her bottom lip as Beca focused her eyes back on Miles and began snapping the buttons on his pajamas together. Beca was clearly using dressing Miles as a distraction rather than staring at her waiting for an answer. The gesture was really very sweet and she knows they need to make time for each other amongst how hectic their life is. Miles has been their main priority and focus since he arrived, which he should be, but she knows they can't lose focus on their relationship either.

"You don't have to give me an answer right now and if you think it's too soon to leave him, I understand," Beca said not looking away from Miles.

Releasing her lip, Chloe smiled, "I'd really love a date night."

"Great, I'll talk to Stacie and see what day works for her. Think about what you want to do."

Chloe tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "Is it going to be fancy?"

"Not unless you want it to be," Beca reassured. "We can do whatever you want for as long as you want."

Lightly kissing a cheek, Chloe whispered, "You're the best."

"Just don't tell anyone," Beca slipped a sock on Miles's foot.

Taking a couple steps closer, Chloe wrapped her arms around a slender waist and rested her chin on Beca's shoulder so she could look down at their son.

"We have the most perfect little boy…" Chloe gushed when Miles gave a big yawn and stretched. "He's just so beautiful Beca," she took a tiny hand between a couple of her fingers, "I can't stop staring at him."

Beca turned her head and lightly nudged the chin off her shoulder and captured her wife's lips in a soft kiss.

Pulling back, Beca smiled, "It's all because of you, you made him beautiful."

Chloe felt tears stinging her eyes, "I never thought this would ever be my life, I wanted a family of my own for so long and now I have it." A couple of tears fell when a tiny hand gripped her finger. "And it's all because I met you."

Beca used the pad of her thumb to dry Chloe's cheeks, "There's nobody I'd rather do this with than you."

"I'm sorry I'm crying," Chloe gave a wet chuckle, "I swear I'm happy." She was given a quick kiss as Miles started to squirm and let out the tiniest hint of a cry. "Here let me…"

"I got him," Beca picked Miles up, "you go change and we'll meet you downstairs."

The crying didn't last long and within a couple minutes of Beca soothing him, Miles gave another yawn and settled down. Beca shifted him in her arms so that she was holding him comfortably and he seemed to snuggle right into her embrace, just like Chloe. Now she knows that's probably not what actually happened but she will roll with it because he was just so damn cute.

Looking up, Beca found Chloe still standing there watching them and wearing a small smile.

"What?" Beca asked in amusement.

Chloe grinned, "Nothing, just that you being a mom is sexy…"

"Such a flatterer Mrs. Mitchell," Beca joked. Stepping towards the door she quickly turned when she felt a hand lightly slap her ass. "Hey now."

"What? Can't I flirt with my wife?" Chloe playfully challenged.

"Oh you most certainly can," Beca stressed. She took a step closer and lowered her voice, "Don't start something you can't finish."

"And what if I want to start something and I want you to finish?" Beca's eyebrow popped up at Chloe's blatant inuendo. "I know it's right on the edge of when the doctor said we can start having sex again," Beca started to protest but she jumped back in, "and you know he gave me the OK during my last checkup."

"No, he said give it a few more weeks."

"No, he said start slow in a couple weeks and see how I feel." Chloe gently corrected. "And it's been two weeks since then, so I'm up for trying tonight if you are."

"This isn't about me."

"Look I'm kinda going crazy, everything you do lately turns me on, and I'm ready to be with you again," Chloe responded shyly and she doesn't know why. "I miss it and I'm beyond horny," Beca's throat bobbed. "And honestly with how crazy life has been, alone time like that with you is definitely needed…Also I don't think I can wait until date night next week."

"Are you sure?" Chloe simply nodded. "I mean I've done research online and you could be uncomfortable or it could even hurt if it's too soon and I don't want…"

"Let's just try," Chloe stopped Beca mid-sentence with a reassuring smile, "we'll know if it's too soon."

There was a long pause before Beca reluctantly agreed, "Ok…" She was quiet for a few seconds before blurting, "I have no idea why I'm so nervous about having sex with my wife."

Beca wishes she wasn't currently holding their kid so she could bury her face in her hands to coverup how embarrassed she was right now.

"I mean it's not like we've never done it before," Beca finished in almost a panic. "God I'm overreacting, I'm sorry…"

"It's ok, I'm nervous too," Chloe tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear then folded her arms across her chest. "My body isn't exactly the same as it used to be ten months ago."

"Chlo, no don't ever think like that," Beca took a step closer, "you know I think you're beautiful all the time, right?"

"But I've gained some weight because of the pregnancy and I have a few stretch marks. I haven't been to the gym in months…"

Beca quickly cut Chloe off, "And none of that matters to me. I love you and there's no way you could never not be the most beautiful person in the world to me. And just so you know, for someone who just had a kid, your body is honestly ridiculous." Chloe looked a little bit more at ease. "You still do it for me in every way and nothing will ever change that."

"I love how you constantly make me feel really good about myself," Chloe honestly is so lucky to have someone who supports her so unwaveringly. "You're very sweet to me."

"Because you're my love and you deserve the world and you're totally hot…"

Chloe chuckled, "I love you."

"I love you too."

Chloe wiggled her fingers and Miles was easily handed over to her. Lifting him up she pressed a kiss to his cheek as Miles gave another big yawn making them both laugh. Cradling him against her chest she started towards the hallway.

"This kid has got a rough life I tell ya. He naps and eats and gets endless amounts of cuddles," Beca deadpanned as she followed closely behind a laughing Chloe.

"I think he's fighting to stay awake because he's hungry."

Beca checked her watch, "Well it's been a couple hours since I gave him a bottle."

Coming to a stop at the staircase, Chloe rubbed a hand along Miles's back, "As soon as I change my clothes, I'll feed this little guy." Noticing the pattern on Miles's pajamas, she smiled, "Aww babe you put him in his panda onesie."

"I sure did," Beca traced the patterns along the fabric, "his Aunt Claire would have loved it."

"She most certainly would," Chloe smiled fondly thinking about her sister and how much Claire would have loved being an aunt. "She would have been twenty-one next month."

"I remember…"

The happiness in her wife's face while talking about her sister was so genuine that it made Beca's heart flutter. For a long time talking about Claire was something that was forced and painful and Beca assumes there will always be a bit of sadness tucked away, but it's nice to see just how far Chloe has come.

"We're still going to visit her grave at some point, right?"

Chloe's eyes shifted back to Beca, "Yeah, if the doctor ok's him to travel, I'd like to go over your spring break. I want him to know all about her."

"And what about your parent's?"

Chloe was quiet for a few seconds, "We can't visit my sister and not acknowledge them. I spent my whole life hiding things from them," Beca gave a reassuring smile, "I'm not going to hide our son."

Beca gave a nod, "I agree."

Beca knows how much Chloe still struggles with the loss of her family. Even though Chloe has forgiven herself for what has happened and moved on, Chloe will always hold a little bit of resentment towards her parents because of the way she was treated. One of the biggest lessons that Beca has learned over the years is that trying to forget every bad thing that happens in life isn't always the right thing to do. The biggest part about moving on is learning to accept the things that are out of their control and can't be changed.

"Can you play the piano while I feed him?" Chloe quietly asked.

Beca let the change of subject slide for the time being, "Sure…I can be enticed." Holding out her hands she put on a bright smile as she gazed at Miles. "Come here little guy, Mom needs to change."

"He can stay with me, I'll only be a few minutes. I'll give you a beer and a kiss when I'm done." Chloe wiggled her eyebrows. "A good kiss."

"See how your Mom flirts with me?" Beca spoke seriously as got at eye level with their son. "She knows the way to my heart, beer and kisses." Lowering her voice she unapologetically added, "Plus she's super fucking hot."

Chloe tried to swat at Beca but missed, "Babe language."

Chloe just laughed as Beca gave her and Miles each a kiss before starting down the staircase and eventually out of sight.

"Hurry up," Beca's voice echoed around them, "I'm already waiting for my kiss and it better be good."

"Your Mom is crazy," Chloe stated as she started up the stairs laughing.

"Crazy about you!"

Chloe just grinned because the feeling was mutual.

PRESENT DAY…

Seeing Chloe juggle a baby and a couple of bags, Eric quickly set his coffee cup and music books down on a nearby table.

"Let me help you with that." Eric held out his hands with a smile as Chloe passed the diaper bag and the bag with their lunch over.

"I owe you one." Chloe let out a grateful sigh.

"I'll put it on your tab…" Eric teased gathering his things. As they started off down the hallway towards the elevator he added, "Dr. Mitchell should be just about finished with her last class of the day."

Reaching out, Chloe pressed the elevator up arrow, "Great, because that's exactly where we're headed. Right Miles?" He didn't move from where he was resting his head against her shoulder. "Third floor?"

"Correct," Eric let Chloe step inside after the doors slid open. "Room thirty-two eleven."

When Eric pressed the button for the third and fourth floors, Miles perked up and eyed the numbers as they lit up.

"We'll just sneak in the back," Chloe kissed the side of Miles's head, "and take notes just like one of Mom's students, right?" Her voice was animated, making Miles look at her. "Then we'll ask dozens of silly questions." She brushed their noses together, making him swat at her face and giggle. "Then we'll demand," she let out a puff of air making Miles laugh harder, "she give us both an A!"

Miles was now full on laughing and the sound filled Chloe's heart with so much love and happiness. It was a different kind of love and happiness then what she gets from being with Beca. This was the type of feeling that only a child could give. It also happily reminds her of her sister, because his laugh was almost identical to Claire's and it was one of Chloe's favorite things in life.

"There's my happy boy!" Chloe grinned.

Eric adjusted his glasses, "Glad to see he's all smiles now."

Chloe looked over at Eric, "Much like Beca, he can't stay grumpy around me for too long."

"Doesn't Beca call you her perpetual ray of sunshine?"

Rolling her eyes, Chloe let out an amused sigh, "Yeah, she does." When the elevator dinged and the doors slid open, her face changed to excitement as she looked down at her son, "You ready to go see Mom?"

Reaching out, Eric held the elevator doors open, "Glad to see you guys are starting his music education early."

"You're kidding, right?" Eric just blinked at her. "Beca started his music education the first night we brought him home…And the first song she ever played for him after we found out I was pregnant was by Miles Davis."

"Well I find out something new every day." Smiling, Eric gave Chloe's diaper bag a pat. "I'll drop your things in Beca's office and hopefully Jessica and I'll see you before you leave on vacation this weekend?"

"You'll definitely see us," Chloe gave a wave of her own as the elevator doors closed. Looking down at Miles she said, "Now, let's go crash Mom's party."

Four Months Ago…

Entering the kitchen, Beca let out a tired sigh, "Well leaving the hospital was eventful to say the least…" She gently set down a sleeping Miles in his car carrier as Chloe turned the kitchen lights on. "But we're finally home as a party of three."

"Finally…"

They had been cleared to bring Miles home from the hospital this afternoon, but it took forever for him to get discharged. Now it's a little after seven and Chloe is feeling a week's worth of constant tension and lack of sleep starting to catch up with her. It had been a whirlwind of a week and it hadn't slowed down until right now.

Miles was born six weeks early, on Christmas Day to be exact, and as a 'precautionary' measure he spent a whole week in the NICU so his progress and weight gain could be monitored. Thankfully he had no complications rapidly started showing positive improvements every day.

Since her family's death, hospitals were places that Chloe steered clear of at all costs. The pain of seeing her sister for the last time and having to say her final goodbye in a hospital is something permanently etched in her memory. So needless to say, every time she entered the hospital this week to visit Miles, she was scared to death.

The first week of Miles's life had been kind of a blur. Chloe swears from the time Miles was born until he was discharged she spent the majority of each day by his side. Although, Beca did manage to get her to get some rest each night, but only with constant reassurances that Miles was in good hands and that they would be back early the next morning.

Chloe honestly doesn't know where her wife got the strength she showed this past week. She wishes she had a better way to say that Beca was 'her rock' because that totally oversimplifies everything. Beca's support has been unwavering from helping her during labor to helping her shower to just being a hand to hold onto, at every instance Beca was by her side. Beca hasn't been without her fair share of emotional moments this week and Chloe can only hope she was able to give Beca that same kind of love and support back.

Now though as Chloe looks over at her wife who is gazing down at their son, she can physically see how relieved Beca that all three of them were home.

Moving further into the kitchen, Chloe set a couple of bags down on the counter and smiled when her wife looked over at her, "I saw you white knuckling it on the drive home."

"Yeah," Beca snorted out a laugh, "I was kind of paranoid I'd hit a pothole or something and wake him up." She shoved her hands in her pockets. "I've never really driven a baby around, let alone one I'm now responsible for."

Stepping closer, Chloe kissed a blushing cheek, "You did great."

Letting out a breath, Beca watched Chloe stoop down to check on a sleeping Miles. Chloe began nervously fidgeting with the blanket covering him and it was not lost on her just how exhausted her wife looked. Chloe had been running herself ragged since Miles was born and had taken very little time to herself to rest and recuperate after giving birth. Beca tries to not let on how worried she is about Chloe and she hopes now that they're all home that Chloe will allow herself to relax.

"I'm just so happy he's finally home," Chloe felt a hand lightly run across her back, looking over she found Beca kneeling beside her.

"Me too," Beca pressed a kiss to her wife's temple. Bumping their shoulders she smiled, "You can pick him up and hold him, you know."

"I know, but I also don't want to wake him. It's been a long day for him too…"

They quietly watched Gizmo and Billie wander into the kitchen and over to look in the carrier at their new baby brother.

Beca's smile increased when Gizmo nudged Miles's foot with his nose to get a better sniff, "See Chlo, they're best friends already."

"You were right." Chloe laughed watching both their dogs wander away after checking Miles out. Standing, she tugged Beca up along with her. "He's in good hands."

"The best…" Beca shifted her eyes down to Miles again. "Wow," she let out a long breath, "we're really doing this whole family thing, aren't we?"

"We are…are you happy?"

"You have no idea…"

"I do…" Tilting forward, Chloe gave a quick cheek kiss. "Want something to drink?"

"Yeah, please."

Moving to the refrigerator, Chloe grabbed a couple bottles of water.

"I knew he was doing great a couple days ago," Beca kicked her shoes off as she followed her wife across the kitchen. "The nurses always looked so happy during every checkup." Taking a water bottle, she cracked it open and surprisingly chugged half. "I mean the last time they weighed him," she capped the bottle, "Ashley called him buff and handsome."

"Ashley was awesome," Chloe grinned at the memory of the quiet overnight nurse that she bonded the most with during their time in the NICU. "I hate that we had to wait around forever to leave today, but we also got to see her one last time."

"Yeah, I was glad we got to say goodbye…" Sliding one of the breakfast table chairs out, Beca cringed when it loudly scrapped across the wood floor. Quickly turning her head, she was happy to see Miles still dozing peacefully. "Although I don't appreciate how the hospital handled us leaving. They should have done more to try and get rid of all those photographers that showed up." An angry tone laced her voice as she rapidly drummed her fingers against the tabletop. "The least they could have done was let us use the back exit."

It was weird, besides close friends and family, they had kept everything about Chloe's pregnancy and Miles birth off of social media. In fact the first and only time Beca had given her fanbase a hint that Chloe might be pregnant was in her Christmas Eve Instagram post. They were all smiles standing in front of the Christmas tree wearing matching pajamas, Beca had her arms around Chloe's waist and her hands protectively resting on her wife's stomach. Even though they were both wearing baggy t-shirts, it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to speculate Chloe might be pregnant. They weren't trying to hide the obvious, but she never really addressed it.

"Unfortunately leaving from the front was the safest way," Chloe reassured. "The hospital staff wanted us to have a clear path to the car." Beca let out an annoyed huff, making her hold back a smile. "Babe, the back would have included steps and a weird parking job. Anyone could have fallen, especially you carrying Miles."

"I still hated it."

Chloe stepped around the kitchen island, "I did too and I know it's been a few years since we've garnered that much attention but I've always told you that there are people who still care about everything you do."

"I shouldn't have posted that Christmas Eve picture." Beca looked up apologetically. "I'm sorry, but I was so excited."

"There is nothing to be sorry about. I would have posted it if you hadn't."

"I just don't know how people knew we were there."

"People see you and talk baby. It could have been anyone."

"I thought we were safe from the paparazzi at the hospital."

Chloe tucked a strand of brunette hair behind an ear, "Any number of people could have seen you and talked. I mean, how often were you in the cafeteria getting coffee?" Beca just shrugged, but still looked really worried. "People were bound to find out, they always do."

"Yeah, you're right." Beca sighed as she tiredly rubbed her face. "Sorry, leaving today and what's been going on all week has me really stressed me out."

There had been a handful of photographers hanging around the hospital when they arrived this morning, but by the time Miles was discharged the group had almost doubled. Thankfully, the security guards didn't allow them into the hospital, but when Beca pulled their SUV up to the front and got out with the infant car seat in hand, that's when the chaos began. Chloe watched Beca expertly ignore all their questions and simply gave her trademark wave and smile before ducking into the hospital and out of their sight.

But if Chloe thought the level of commotion was crazy while Beca walked into the hospital, nothing prepared her for what it would be like leaving. As soon as the automatic doors opened and they stepped out it was almost like they were walking a red carpet. Except this time instead of stopping for pictures and answering questions all she did was keep her eyes trained on the SUV in front of them while holding tightly to one of Beca's hands while Beca carried Miles in his car seat in the other. Thankfully a couple of security guards escorted them the relatively short distance just to make sure everybody kept their distance.

For the short walk Beca had been smart, she had used a blanket to cover the top of the car seat so the photographers couldn't any of the prized photos they were so desperately after.

"It's ok, you got us all home safe and sound…" Chloe gave a gentle kiss then smiled.

"I'm mean this whole ordeal today was because of me." Beca twisted her wedding ring. "We have this tiny human that doesn't deserve the kind of attention that warrants cameras in his face like that." Letting out a breath as she looked into understanding eyes. "Unless his awesome photography genius mom is the one doing it."

Chloe just giggled, "You know I have my camera batteries charging as we speak."

Dropping her tense shoulders, Beca looked over at their son, "I just don't want that to be part of his life. I want him to be a normal kid, not a kid that has some kind of weird cult following because his Mom is famous…"

"Things will die down soon and we'll slip back into relative anonymity again."

Tearing her eyes away, Beca looked back up at her wife, "I sure hope so."

Stepping between Beca's legs, Chloe wrapped her arms around her wife, "You'll always have people outside of our inner circle who will want to know what happens in your life." Hands settled low on her hips. "But let's forget about them for now, we have a beautiful baby boy who deserves all of our attention."

They fixed their attention back on Miles as he peacefully slept. He was wearing an outfit with dinosaurs all over it and a matching hat. He was just so damn cute that Chloe wanted to run up and grab one of her cameras right now and take like a hundred pictures.

"I can't believe tonight's our first night alone with him. Like alone, alone."

"I'd be lying if I said I knew what I was doing," Chloe gave a kiss before moving from the embrace and helped Beca stand. "And I'm totes nervous, but I've got you with me, so I know we can figure it out together."

"I sure hope so…" Beca repeated with an uneasy laugh.

Moving the blanket aside, Beca undid Miles's chest strap then delicately slid his arms out.

"Come on buddy, let's go lay you down," Beca whispered as she gently picked Miles up and cradled him against her. As she moved across the kitchen she said, "Maybe we should have taken Aubrey's mom up on her offer to stay with us tonight."

Chloe followed Beca out of the kitchen, "I think Grandma Grace just wants extra baby snuggles." She heard quiet laughter. "It's cute how excited they are for us."

"It is…" Beca paused to make sure she had a protective hold on her son before starting up the steps.

Coming to a stop just outside their bedroom, Chloe asked, "When are they stopping by?"

"Tomorrow morning I think, Grace said she's bringing us breakfast." Stepping into the room, Beca said to a sleeping Miles, "This is your Mom and I's bedroom, but you'll be camping in her with us for a little while…"

Watching Beca lay Miles in the bassinet they had set up, Chloe still couldn't get over how great it felt to finally have him home. It was still kind of surreal.

"What can I do to help?"

Turning her head, Beca smiled, "Nothing my love, he's good. We need to let him sleep until it's time to feed him again."

Chloe checked her watch, "Ok, I've got like a little over an hour."

After switching on the baby monitor, Beca moved away from the bassinet, "Why don't you lay down and relax or maybe take a shower. I want you to rest whenever you can, you're worn out already. You're pushing yourself way to hard and I'm worried about you."

"I think I'll shower then laydown," Chloe said offhandedly. Her eyes shifted from the bassinet to Beca who was now standing next to her. She lightly frowned, "I'm sorry, you just said that didn't you?" Beca nodded with a soft smile. "I'm just really," she shook out her hands, "anxious and scared for some reason."

"It's ok," Beca whispered as she wrapped her arms around her wife, who just kind of sank into her embrace. Running a soothing along Chloe's back, asked, "Want me to start the shower for you?" Chloe nodded and pressed a kiss to her shoulder. When she tried to move away, Chloe held on tighter. "Everything will be fine, he will be fine, I promise."

Chloe heaved a tired sigh, "I'm sorry, but I've just been so scared all week and…"

"You don't need to explain anything to me…" Beca continued to run her hands along Chloe's back. "But I need you to take care of yourself too."

It's normal what Chloe is going through and Beca honestly expected this crash to happen at some point tonight.

"I'll be ok," Chloe lifted her head and wiped away tears, "I'll regroup in the shower."

"I'm serious about you laying down afterwards, you need to rest. You haven't slept very much at all this week." Beca paused briefly, then said, "I'll bring you dinner after you shower, how does soup and a sandwich sound?" Chloe wordlessly nodded wiping away more tears. "You've been incredibly strong this week, stronger than I could ever have imagined. So let me," using the pad of her thumbs she dried some of Chloe's tears, "take care of you tonight. Whatever you need, just tell me."

The tiredness in Chloe's whole demeanor has been pretty evident since they stepped in the house and Chloe knows she needs sleep more than anything.

"And I'll take the nightshift tonight so you can get some sleep," Beca tentatively began trying to sound more confident than she actually was feeling. Before Chloe could protest she added, "Don't worry, you can feed him before you go to sleep."

"But you need to rest too."

"I'm fine, but I also didn't give birth to a very tiny, yet very cute," that earned Beca a small smile, "human earlier this week either. You're mentally and physically drained."

Chewing her lip, Chloe weighed the options before ultimately agreeing, "Promise me you'll wake me if you need something?"

"I promise."

Looking back at the bassinet, Chloe was quiet for a few seconds, "You're the greatest and I love you."

"I love you too…"

Well Beca thought they had a kid who could sleep through just about anything, but as it turns out she was wrong, so wrong. Miles seemed to have some kind of internal alarm clock because nearly every two hours he was awake needing to eat, have a diaper change or was awake just to be awake. And despite her best efforts of taking care of Miles all by herself, Chloe insisted on getting up and helping.

"Our kid definitely has a set of lungs on him."

"You're awake?" Yawing, Chloe slipped back into bed after exiting the bathroom.

Beca switched the bedside lamp on, "Yeah, I have been for a while." She gave a yawn. "I've been listening to you softly sing while you were rocking him. Your voice is really soothing."

"He seems to like it."

Beca rolled to her back and pulled her wife towards her, "It's my turn for cuddles with my baby momma." She heard a tired laugh as Chloe got comfortable. "I'm glad we signed up for this otherwise I'd be mad about constantly getting woken up. He's lucky he's cute."

Chloe relaxed into Beca's embrace, "Hey babe?"

"Hmm?"

"Light."

"Oh…" Beca blindly reached behind her and flipped the switch. "Night gorgeous."

"Night sexy…"

Just as Chloe was closing her eyes a baby sized sneeze was heard in the otherwise silent room. A few seconds later, Chloe's eyes snapped open when the tiniest hint of a cry started.

"Let's see if he'll go back to sleep," Beca whispered in the darkness, "you just fed and changed him."

"But what if…"

"My love," Beca mumbled sleepily through another yawn, "I'm sure he's fine. Babies sneeze."

"Can we just…" As the cries got louder, Chloe bit her lip and moved from Beca's embrace to sit up and turn the bedside lamp back on. "Maybe just for tonight he can sleep in bed with us?"

Shifting her weight, Beca leaned over to gave a simple kiss then tucked a strand of red hair behind an ear.

"You know that's not a good idea." Getting out of bed, Beca stretched and shook out her hands in an effort to push the sleepiness away. "Dr. Stiner and the nurses all told us not to do that. He's tiny Chlo…" A louder cry sounded, making her look in Miles's direction. "Too many things could happen and we don't want anything to happen to him."

Chloe shuffled back down under the duvet and let out another tired sigh, "You're right. I'm just being overly worried I guess…"

"I understand and trust me, I've thought about doing it too." Beca tentatively sat on the edge of the bed. "But he needs to be in his own bed, it's safer for him."

"Yeah."

Over the cries, Beca leaned in and gave a soft kiss, "This is our first night at home." Chloe just blinked at her. "It's going to take some time for everyone to adjust, but we'll figure it out."

Throughout Chloe's whole pregnancy, Beca had been the one to worry and over analyze everything, while she had to constantly calm Beca down. Except this past week and especially right now Beca has been the one making sure she doesn't go crazy.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be…"

Miles's cries were starting to get louder and Beca quickly glanced behind her then back at Chloe.

"I need to go and like be a Mom now," Beca grinned and Chloe easily returned it.

Beca hurried across the bedroom and said something in hushed tones while bending over to pick up Miles. As Beca securely held him, Chloe's heart just about melted when their eyes connected and Beca shot her a wink that basically said everything was ok.

Chloe knew she needed to keep it together, she didn't need to be freaking out over a sneeze or be the mom who stands over their newborn every second of the day waiting for something to go wrong. Miles was going to be perfectly fine.

The last thing Chloe saw before closing her eyes and drifting back to sleep was Beca pacing the length of their bedroom trying to soothe their son back to sleep. When she woke a few hours later she found Beca's side of the bed empty. Running her hand across the vacant spot she was met with cold sheets indicating that Beca hadn't been in bed for a while.

It doesn't happen that often anymore but Beca is still a bit of a roamer at night. It's something Chloe figures will always be a part of who Beca is. Although the roaming now as opposed to when they first started dating are for completely different reasons. Beca no longer uses staying up late and throwing herself into her music as ways to avoid dealing with her personal problems.

Now if Beca wanders it's simply because she has music that she needs to get out of her system. Beca can't just turn music off and Chloe has lost track of how many times she has found Beca down in her home studio totally absorbed in her music. Usually when that happens Chloe brings down coffee and breakfast for them and listens as Beca excitedly shows her what she has come up with overnight while they eat.

Pushing herself up on her elbows, Chloe squinted across the dark room and she saw the bedroom door partially open allowing in the soft light from the hallway. While the clock on the bedside table read a little before four in the morning.

Chloe knows she should turn over and go right back to sleep while she has the chance, but she just can't help but wonder what Beca and Miles are up to. So she quickly got out of bed and tossed on one of Beca's old hoodies over her pajamas and headed off in search of her family.

When Chloe reached the kitchen she couldn't help but chuckle at the scene. All the lights were on and sitting on the counter next to a half-eaten bacon, egg and cheese sandwich was a barely touched cup of coffee and a little bit of spilled baby formula. There were also a couple of empty bottles drying on the rack next to the sink and for whatever reason the microwave door was open.

This kind of thing has happened so many times over the years that Chloe has lost count, although Beca forgetting her coffee was new turn.

After tidying the kitchen, Chloe poured her love a fresh cup of coffee, then set off to the only other place in the house Beca could be at this time of night, her home studio.

Shuffling out of the kitchen, Chloe slowly made her way down a short hallway passing by the door that led down to the garage to a second door tucked around a corner. The studio wasn't an addition to the house, instead it was a converted 'mother in law suite' above the garage that overlooked the backyard. It was a uniquely laid out space with a bedroom, bathroom, and a combined kitchen and living room area. One half of the living room held all of Beca's computers and fancy sound and mixing equipment while the other half was setup as a regular living room with a couch and bookcases that held all of Beca's awards, including her Grammy's and the Academy Award. The bedroom on the other hand had been converted into a makeshift sound booth with a piano and various other instruments Beca has collected over the years.

When Chloe first started spending a lot of time here it was the place she felt had the most lived in vibe. Hell the refrigerator was always stocked with drinks and snacks and the couch was so comfortable that she just sank into it every time she sat down. The space is uniquely Beca, complete with sheet music, random music books, and empty coffee cups scattered all over the place. Honestly, Chloe loves looking around every time she ventures down here, because it's like peeking into Beca's mind.

This was also the one place Beca had been really nervous about showing Chloe the first time she came over. Chloe hadn't been shown it during the initial house tour, so she actually felt really honored when Beca timidly took her by the hand after dinner saying there was one final place she hadn't seen. Chloe understood the whole hesitation because this was the place that for so long was closed off to just about everyone outside of Beca's inner group of friends.

Coincidently, that same night, it was also the first place Beca made love to her. It had started with Beca showing her the sound booth and them being extremely flirtatious towards each other as they recorded a song together. After that one thing led to another and before she knew it they were undressing each other in the middle of the living room. Beca had been so careful, so gentle, and Chloe remembers how they clung to each other out of breath and sweaty like it was their last night together when in reality it was the beginning of everything.

Afterwards they had simply laid on the couch talking and laughing wrapped in a blanket together. That was until Beca playfully hovered over her and slowly started to heat things up again. In between steeling kisses and roaming hands, Beca had mentioned how they should 'move things upstairs to her bedroom' and Chloe had readily agreed.

Flushing at the memory, Chloe smiled hearing the soft muffled sounds of jazz music playing at a low volume as she pushed the partially closed door open. As soon as she stepped inside, she saw her wife sitting at the mixing board with Miles in her arms.

Beca's bare foot lightly swayed the producer chair as she bottle fed Miles while wearing a soft smile. Beca had a diaper rag slung over a shoulder and looked tired but what really stood out was Beca's whole demeanor.

Beca was gazing adoringly down at Miles who was staring up at her with wide eyes as he sucked on the bottle. Beca just seemed so confident with what she was doing and she looked so in love with the tiny baby boy in her arms.

"See I knew you were hungry…" Chloe barely heard Beca's whispered words.

It was easy to tell that this moment right here, sitting in her studio listening to jazz music, was everything Beca had been waiting for since the moment they found out Chloe was pregnant.

"Your Grandma Elizabeth and I used to listen to music just like this for hours." Beca adjusted Miles in her arms a tiny bit causing the bottle slip out of his mouth. "Sorry, my bad, here you go," she quickly said, making Chloe smile. "Your Grandma and I used to play music together too. Although, I sucked at just about every instrument she had me try, until she sat me down in front of a piano…I'm no good at sports but I can play the piano." Chloe silently laughed. "I'll play for you tomorrow once your Mom is awake, she loves it when I play, she gives me extra kisses when I do."

Miles gave a couple little grunts and Chloe saw her wife's face light up and give a little laugh as she set the bottle aside.

"Ok I've only ever done this with help…" Beca moved Miles so she was supporting his head and neck with one hand and began giving light pats on his back with the other. "See easy…" Miles let out a small burp. "I think I'm talking more for my benefit than yours but whatever," she finished offhandedly. "Anymore burps? No, ok…"

Chloe always loved the commentary Beca gave when she thought no one was listening. In this instance it was a way to ease the nervousness that Beca very obviously felt.

"Ok, let's see how much more you want to eat…" Beca picked the bottle back up and checked the level, a little less than half was left. "Remember, the doctor said you need to eat as much as you can to become a big strong guy."

Miles quickly latched back onto the bottle and Chloe heard Beca give a relieved sigh.

"Hang with me Miles, I've never been a Mom before." Beca chuckled to herself as she looked down at her son. "Now your other Mom," she gave a low whistle, "she's a natural. She's seriously the greatest and I really admire her in every way. We're lucky to have her and I say we because I know I'd be lost without her." Miles stretched out an arm. "A long time ago she helped me straighten my life out and helped me reprioritize what was important." She adjusted the bottle a little bit. "I did the same for her too and in the process we fell in love, but that's a story for another time."

Chloe couldn't help but smile.

"But you want to know something else about your Mom?" Beca's voice carried over the softly playing music. "Other than the obvious and by that I mean how stupidly beautiful and unbelievably kind she is." Pausing she waited for some kind of acknowledgement from Miles, but all she got was blue eyes staring up at her from behind the bottle. "She's a very talented artist."

Sitting down on the corner of the couch, Chloe continued to watch in silence.

"She's an amazing photographer and an even better painter. She's also a damn good journalist and writes for a really popular music blog. She's interviewed tons of famous people, including me, and she flies all over the world to do it."

That was all true, after Chloe wrote her article on Beca for the San Francisco Chronicle, she stayed on with them for a couple of years until she got a really great offer from the popular music blog Consequence of Sound. Not only do they allow her to work from wherever she wants, but because she is semi-freelance for them it also means she gets to be picky in what she writes. So she mainly tackles the bigger interviews and in-depth exposes that take weeks or months to draft. She really enjoys this side of journalism because it allows her to take her time and really craft a narrative and tell a much longer story.

"It's crazy, she's weirdly good at just about everything she does…" Adjusting the bottle Beca smiled seeing Miles's eyes flutter shut then open again. "She also sells her paintings and photographs in a gallery downtown. I'm incredibly proud of her, it takes a lot courage to share something that personal with random strangers. But I love that she gets to share her talent, she even did that painting of me and your Grandma Elizabeth up there," she tilted her head toward a large canvas hanging on the wall, "she surprised me for my birthday a couple years ago."

The painting in question was one Chloe had worked on in secret for nearly a year. It was a recreation of the picture of Beca and her mom that Chloe had found online in Elizabeth Richardson's obituary.

The photo was relatively easy to track down, Chloe called in a favor with an old acquittance at a newspaper in LA and after a couple of weeks she was sent a digital copy of the photo along with the name and number of the person who took it. Instead of just printing the picture out and framing it, Chloe decided to do a painting instead. She knew it had to be special, so she chose to use blue and white color tones with just the smallest touches of black to really make things pop. It was a unique contrast to the full color picture and it had captured the moment perfectly.

Chloe has done a ton of artwork over the years, but that particular piece just hit differently while working on it. She felt like she really connected with Beca's mother even though they had never met.

"I can't even begin to tell you how much your other Mom means to me." Beca lifted the bottle to see how much was left before giving it back to Miles. "She's my everything…"

Hearing Beca's voice again, Chloe tore her eyes away from the painting and settled them on her family.

"Every time she looks at me, I just melt for her and have since the moment she walked into my life." Miles's tiny hand slapped against Beca's, making her smile. "I fought really hard for her and I learned a lot about myself along the way. And I'd relive every single moment in my life over again, even the most painful ones, if it means I get to be with her in the end…"

Beca paused in a way that Chloe knew her wife was gathering her thoughts.

"That's the kind of person you should end up with too." Beca's voice was so gentle and soft and could barely be heard over the music. "Don't settle for someone who doesn't make your heart skip a beat every time they walk into a room or make you melt when they look in your direction…" She paused. "You need to find the person that you melt for, the person you love with everything that you are, and that you're willing to fight for when things get tough. If you find the person that checks all those boxes then you're golden…That's it, that's my secret to finding the love of your life."

Beca has said a lot of truly romantic and moving things to her over the course of their entire relationship, but for Chloe this sits very close to the top.

"And your Mom checks all those boxes and more for me." Beca set the nearly empty bottle aside. "I'm so ridiculously in love with her. And seeing her with you only makes me love her more…"

When the music faded out, Chloe snapped back to reality and watched Beca turn to a nearby laptop and select another track. She then gently lifted Miles again and began lightly patting his back.

"Ok little guy, give me a big burp this time. That last one was weak." Beca only had to wait a few seconds this time, "Good job!"

Beca gave his back a couple more light pats then moved him back into her arms.

"Here this song?" Using ger foot, Beca started swaying her chair again. "That's Stella by Starlight it's a Miles Davis song…" She wiped his chin and mouth with the diaper rag then tossed it aside. "This was the first jazz song I ever played for you and how we got your name."

The night they came home from the doctor's appointment that confirmed Chloe was pregnant, Beca had immediately pulled out her headphones, put them on Chloe's stomach, and played this very song. At the time they had no idea if they were having a boy or a girl, but when Beca looked up and asked what she thought of the name Miles for a boy, Chloe immediately fell in love with it.

Standing, Chloe moved into the room and it was like Beca could sense her. Looking over her shoulder, Beca gave Chloe a content yet tired smile which she easily returned.

"Hey…"

Beca softly laughed, "We were trying to let you sleep."

"I know…" Chloe set Beca's coffee mug down and leaned against the soundboard. "I was just checking that everything was ok …" She focused on Miles who was fighting to keep his eyes open. "From the looks of things, you've got it under control."

"Yeah, we're fine, right Miles?" Beca gave a yawn and shook her head fighting to keep awake. "Sorry…" Chloe just kissed her and ran fingers through her hair. "I thought he was hungry after he woke up last time, so I came down to make a bottle, but then he just fell asleep in my arms while I was warming it up."

Chloe smiled, "Babies have their own agenda."

"Tell me about it…" Chloe groggily laughed through a yawn. "I didn't know what to do, every time I tried to put him down he would start crying, so I let him sleep in my arms while I made a sandwich." Beca frowned. "Which I just realized I half ate."

"I put it in the fridge so you could have it later." Chloe picked up the coffee mug and handed it over. "Thought you might need that though."

"You're the greatest…"

"I know…"

After taking a couple sips, Beca set the mug aside, "The next time he woke up, I was ready with a bottle. So we came down here to listen to music while I fed him." She gazed down at Miles who was now sound asleep. "As a bonus he seems to like music."

Chloe ran her fingers over her son's head, "He's definitely ours then."

That made Beca chuckle.

"Your Mom is pretty talented too," Chloe dipped down and lightly pressed her lips to Miles's forehead, "you'll see that soon though."

Beca softly smiled at her wife, "You heard all that?"

"I caught the tail end…" Chloe gave Beca a gentle kiss. "We're lucky to have you too."

They were quiet for a few seconds as Chloe took Beca's left hands in hers and played with each finger.

"I feel bad I didn't hear you get up with him the last time," Chloe said brushing her finger over Beca's sold gold wedding band.

"You shouldn't…" Beca adjusted Miles in her arms before rolling the chair closer to her wife, who still looked completely exhausted. "I was quiet on purpose…" She let out an anxious sigh as Chloe watched her. "I wanted to see if I could do all this," she gestured to Miles, "on my own, like bottles and diapers and general Mom stuff without someone hovering over me. It was more to prove to myself that I'm not as bad at this as I thought."

"I always knew you would be a really, really, great mom," Chloe smiled and Beca seemed relieved to hear that. "This past week and what I just walked in on has done nothing but prove that to me. Don't ever doubt yourself."

"Thanks…"

"So," Chloe looked around then back down at Beca, "seems like you two were jamming."

"Oh yeah," Beca perked up, "gotta start our kid's music education off right. I started with Miles Davis just like my mom did for me."

Chloe just grinned, this might have been the first time she has found them down here and she knows it won't be the last.

"You're so cute," Chloe stole another quick kiss. Scooting back on the soundboard, she let her legs and feet dangle. "Did you tell him that you're famous?"

"Kinda…"

"Show him your Oscar?"

Even after all this time Beca still can't believe that she actually won an Academy Award. Like it's still such a surreal moment in her life and half the time when she looks at it, it still surprises her seeing her name on it.

"You know that's not what's important to me," Chloe popped an eyebrow making Beca laugh. "Is it cool? Sure, I've lost count how many times Stacie and Amy have taken selfies with it."

"But?"

"But like I said in my acceptance speech, music styles and priorities change for people." As if on cue, Miles stretched while giving a big yawn, pretty much proving Beca's point. "Mine have and we all have to find what makes us happy, even if we have to go through a dark period in our life to figure out what that is."

Chloe gave a thoughtful nod, "And am I still the thing that makes you happiest?"

"More than anything…" Beca stretched to meet Chloe halfway for a tender kiss. Settling back in her chair, she smiled. "Although right now, sleep is a close second."

At that Chloe couldn't help but laugh and it seemed to startle Miles, making them both instantly quiet. When he settled back down, almost snuggling into Beca's embrace, Chloe gave another smile.

"Well let's get you some sleep then," Chloe whispered as she hopped off the soundboard and gave a stretch. "Want me to take him?"

Beca carefully stood, "Sure…" She eased Miles into Chloe's waiting arms. "I didn't tell him all my secrets yet. Gotta save the good stuff for later."

As Chloe lightly swayed Miles back and forth, she teased, "I figured you would have at least gotten to our wedding or engagement story by now," without taking her eyes off him.

Powering down her laptop, Beca just laughed, "I told him how we met and how you messed up my order at Aubrey's deli," Chloe playfully gasped, "and then how you proceeded to relentlessly flirt with me the entire night in an effort to get my number."

Chloe grinned, "If I remember correctly, it was you who begged for my number." Beca popped an amused eyebrow. "Your attempts at flirting that night were respectable, cute even." Beca's mouth hung open in shock. "Especially when you almost knocked yourself out in the bathroom." Beca fought back a grin. "I still don't know how you didn't chip a tooth when you smacked your head against that paper towel dispenser."

"Not my finest moment."

"You were so cute, you definitely caught my attention." Looking down at her sleeping son, Chloe whispered, "Your other mom totally hit on me in a bathroom. Don't," she glanced back up at her wife who winked, "let her tell you otherwise."

"Hey, I had to shoot my shot! You were the hottest girl I had ever seen." Beca playfully defended although it was the absolute truth. "It got you to talk to me and you gave me your number, which by the way I still have the selfie you took that night set as your contact pic when you saved your number in my phone."

"Babe, picture is over ten years old, I figured you would have updated by now."

"Nope," Beca casually sipped her coffee. "I keep it because it reminds me of how you looked the first time I ever met you. I love it."

Keeping her eyes locked with Beca's, Chloe whispered to Miles, "Also, don't ever let your Mom say she's not romantic."

"And don't ever tell him that all the 'hanging out'," Beca used air quotes, "we did for two solid months before you agreed to go on an 'official date' with me wasn't dating." Chloe grinned. "All we did was subtly flirt with each other every time we were together."

"So that's what you're calling it now?"

"Let's face it," picking up the diaper rag, Beca slung it over her shoulder, "you couldn't resist me."

"Oh I couldn't resist you?" Chloe shot back with a smirk. "That might be true now but in the beginning I only kept you around because you were cute and you made me laugh. Falling in love with you was completely unintentional and accidental."

Beca's surprise morphed into a knowing grin, "You were totally giving me little hints all along that you wanted to date me weren't you?"

Chloe just nonchalantly shrugged, "Guilty, although it took you long enough to finally ask me out."

"Yeah after I totally failed to kiss you that day at Crissy field, I didn't have anything else to lose so I went for it."

Chloe bit her lip trying to hide her laugh, "You were really cute about it though. I love the memory I have of you asking me out that first time."

"God, you made me so nervous back then."

"Well you scared me too…You made me feel things I wasn't prepared for."

"Although I failed to kiss you that day, and I really wanted to kiss you," Beca felt the blush on her cheeks but there was nothing she could do to stop it, "you still agreed to that date with me. So, I won in the end."

Placing a hand on Beca's cheek, Chloe leaned in closer, "I'm the one who really won." She gave a kiss that was easily returned and as she tried to pull away, Beca chased after her. "I love how you subtly pursued me in all these lowkey and romantic ways. It's exactly what I needed at the time." She rested her forehead against Beca's as Miles peacefully slept in her arms. "You're the best thing that has ever happened to me."

"Me too…"

"Thank you for being patient and waiting for my love to catch up to yours."

"There was no catching up, your love was always there, even when you were scared of it." Beca gave another kiss then quickly dried a tear that slipped down Chloe's cheek. Looking down at Miles, she absentmindedly straightened the fabric against his leg. "We have a beautiful family now and I'm so excited about that and I'm so glad I get to do it with you."

"Me too…"

Kissing to top of Miles's head, Chloe ran a hand along his back as she watched Beca step back over to push her chair in and power down the rest of her equipment.

After a couple minutes of silence, Chloe asked, "What do you think would have happened had we kissed that day in Crissy Field? I mean you were clearly going to kiss me and I wanted you to kiss me."

Beca looked up from what she was doing and let out a long breath, "You know, I'm not sure. I've never really thought about it." She turned to face her wife. "I would like to think that it wouldn't have changed much."

"Yeah?"

"Except that would have been our first real kiss and we might not have had that one in my studio a couple weeks later. You know which one I'm talking about." Beca winked. "Fuck, that one was incredible."

Chloe flushed at that memory, "Yeah, that was totally worth the wait."

"Everything with you has been worth the wait."

"Same…"

"I love you, now come on," Beca cocked her head towards the door, "let's go put Miles down and try get a couple more hours of sleep."

Chloe carefully cradled Miles against her as she followed her wife out of the room.

"Also," Chloe began with a hint of amusement, "I did not screw up your order that night we first met, it was perfect."

"Just like your ass," Beca easily quipped.

Chloe couldn't do anything but laugh.

PRESENT DAY…

Chloe glanced through the small window on the classroom door and saw Beca at the front of the room at the whiteboard. Smiling down at Miles, she found him with his hand shoved in his mouth checking out his reflection in the glass. With the doctor's appointment and unexpected trip here he was definitely off his normal schedule and she's really surprised he hasn't crashed since he has already missed a morning nap.

Glancing back in the window, Chloe lightly bit her lip as her eyes scanned Beca's form. Call her biased, but that is one fine professor standing at the front of the classroom.

"Ready Miles?" Reaching for the handle, Chloe gave it a turn and whispered, "Let's go find a good seat."

Slipping inside the classroom, Chloe and Miles took a seat at one of the desks in the second to last row. She turned him around so he was sitting comfortably on her lap with a clear view of the room. Usually he was pretty good at recognizing Beca's voice and gets all smiley and giggly when he realizes she's close by. It's such a cute that he does and it makes them both laugh.

As Chloe looked around she noted how the small group of students were watching Beca with rapt attention. This was the first lecture all semester that she has had an opportunity to drop in on and coincidently it was also the last. They have visited campus, but only a handful of time and usually late in the afternoon when a vast majority of students are gone.

"And finally," capping the dry erase marker, Beca turned around, "you might want to review the types of nonharmonic tones and when to use them."

Beca stepped back behind the podium and Chloe softly smiled watching Beca set the marker aside and scanned her notes.

"Oh and also…" Beca fiddled her wedding band, slipping it on and off nervously. "Review parallel movement in major, minor, and dominant tones…"

Miles seemed to perk up hearing Beca's voice and it made him wiggle around in Chloe's arms. Tilting her head, she looked down and found him wearing a big smile.

Pressing a kiss to the side of his head, Chloe didn't even bother to try and quiet him when he started laughing as Beca continued to talk. Instead she just softly chuckled right along with him.

"And finally…"

Placing her hands on the podium Beca tapped out a random rhythm, a nervous habit that Chloe had seen since the very first day they met. Even though Beca had been teaching for over eight years, had defended a PhD, and at one point gave a rather extensive interview on national TV, her wife still got nervous when all eyes in a room were focused on her.

"Your essay's and sheet music for your study on the blues in F minor are due in my office by Wednesday at noon. The earlier the better, I will not accept anything late."

After that statement, Beca made a point to look at everyone in the room. When her eyes fell on Chloe and Miles, Chloe blew a kiss, instantly making Beca crack a smile and a blush to run up her cheeks. Chloe loves how easy it still is to fluster Beca Mitchell with something so simple and it never gets old.

"You-your final. Sorry…" Beca cleared her throat trying to refocus. "Your final is in this room on Friday at ten." Winking, she smiled at her wife and son. "Except for the troublemakers in the back," the class collectively turned to where she was looking, "they're exempt for personal reasons."

Seeing Beca smile at her made Chloe's day, it was so simple, but it conveyed so much. It was still kind of surreal that she'd actually found her forever person and that she had a family of her own. She was completely happy in every aspect of her life and it was such a drastic change from the lonely and depressed person she was when she first arrived in San Francisco and walked into Aubrey's deli all those years ago.

"Most of you remember my wife, Chloe, she's the one who baked those cookies you got after your midterm," Beca proudly announced as Chloe gave a little wave. "But you haven't met the newest addition to our family." Stepping from behind the podium she made her way to the back of the room. "The handsome little guy is our son, Miles."

It's not like Beca hadn't seen her wife in days, it had only been a few hours, but it seriously feels like the first time every time. That smile and those eyes just make her heart do flipflops because she is still just so in love.

Coming to a stop, Beca placed her hands on her hips and smiled, "Hey gorgeous."

Chloe smiled up at Beca, "Hey sexy."

Damn Beca really wants to lean down and kiss Chloe, but she knows she is being closely watched and needs to remain somewhat professional.

Thankfully Miles served as a cute distraction as he gave a small but happy babble while bouncing around in Chloe's arms. He even accidently smacked Chloe in the face vying for Beca's attention making them both laugh. When she shifted her eyes to her son, she found his little blue eyes looking up at her while wearing half a smile.

Wiggling her hands under his arms, Beca easily lifted him up so she could plant a quick kiss on his cheek.

"Hey buddy," Beca happily said, "I missed you!"

"Say we missed you too Momma," Chloe reached out to fix one of Miles's socks then smooth out his shirt.

"You didn't tell me that you guys were coming to see me," Beca ran her hand along Miles's back as he snuggled against her. "I'm happy you're here though."

"What can I say," Chloe winked as she sat back and crossed her legs, "Miles couldn't wait to see you."

"Just Miles?"

"Well, I might have wanted to see you too?" Chloe bit her lip as Beca popped an eyebrow and they stared knowingly at each other.

They had totally had really great sex this morning, like mind-blowing good. It has pretty much been on repeat in Chloe's mind ever since and judging by the coy grin on her love's face, Beca has been thinking about it nonstop too.

It's been really hard lately to find a balance in the bedroom where things hadn't felt rushed. And as good as those rushed moments are, and they have been really good, Chloe has missed simply making love to her wife. Well that all changed this morning when she woke up really early only to find Beca surprisingly awake making breakfast in the kitchen and Miles just put back down after a bottle. So what started out as leisurely kissing over coffee turned into so much more.

"Is that so, Mrs. Mitchell?"

"Totes!" Chloe said a little louder, knowing they had to stop with the lovey-dovey eyes since they had an audience. "But I also brought you lunch."

Beca gave a cheeky grin, "Well right on."

Clearing her throat, Chloe shifted her eyes to the class and then met Beca's again, "You better go finish up."

"Oh, right, I kinda have to do my job," Beca nervously laughed. "You two distracted me." She tilted her head to check on Miles. "Let me go wrap up things up."

"Ok." Chloe stood. "Come here little guy, let your Mom finish her lecture." Holding out her hands, she animatedly wiggled her fingers as she put on an excited face. "Oh don't pout, you'll get plenty of cuddles from her later."

At that the entire class laughed and Chloe saw a light shade of pink dust her wife's cheeks. God Beca was so cute and it was a clear indication that for a brief second Beca had forgotten a class full of students existed.

"He's fine, I've got him…" Miles gave a big yawn then stuffed some fingers in his mouth, making them both smile. "Ready to meet everyone?"

Sitting back down, Chloe did a shooing motion with her hands, "Go and be awesome Dr. Mitchell."

Giving a wink, Beca turned and started heading back towards the front of the room. So this was a first she thought looking down at Miles then back to the fifteen sets of eyes focused on her. Most of her students knew Chloe, either from the previous semesters, her social media or general internet snooping, but as far as Miles goes they have been very selective on what they share about him.

So far on their Instagram's they have only released two official photos of Miles with both taken by Chloe. The first one was a couple weeks after they brought him home and was a simple black and white photo of her feeding him a bottle as she sat looking over the sheet music spread across her desk. Chloe had jokingly captioned it 'Pulling double duty on the nightshift…#momlife #professorlife #mitchellpartyofthree'. While the second picture was posted just last week and was of a laughing Miles wrapped in his bath towel. Chloe had simply captioned that one 'The face I make knowing more water got on Mom than me during bath time!...#Ikickedwaterinherface #shestillsaidiwascutethough".

Each of the photos instantly became two of Beca's top liked photos of all time. Since then people continuously ask about Miles in just about every post Beca makes, regardless of the content. It's that kind of hyperfocus that worries her and why they are cautious about what they release about him or their personal life.

The media frenzy that surrounded her and by proxy Chloe after her identity was revealed was intense, but Beca thinks they handled it pretty well. In the beginning it was kind of fun interacting with fans and laughing when they saw themselves on magazine covers, but when all that newness wore off and it became a part of their everyday life it started to become overwhelming.

Beca tries to remain as far under the radar as possible, so does the bare minimum when it comes to interviews. In fact besides Chloe's article about her, the last 'official' interview she did was a few months after she won the Academy Award and it was a rather in-depth TV interview. Since then she has declined to do any other kind of interview besides the 'who are you wearing' ones when she and Chloe attend awards shows or movie premieres.

Award shows for the most part Beca is indifferent about, but with Chloe by her side they can actually be kind of fun. Chloe really loves the whole process of dress shopping to figuring out a hair style to how they will inevitably coordinate colors. Not only is Chloe always so beautifully put together, but her wife is always so damn personable to everyone they interact with. So where Beca lacks in the talking department during stops along the red carpet, Chloe is always there with a reassuring hand squeeze and a radiant smile while charming the pants off every interviewer. Needless to say, Chloe makes red carpet walks so much more bearable.

"So, I don't know about you guys, but my new TA," Beca seriously began, "is already so much better than Eric. He doesn't talk back."

Cupping her hands over her mouth, Chloe yelled, "Not yet," from the back of the room making everyone laugh.

"Can you say hi to everybody?" Beca tried to get Miles to smile by tickling his stomach. When he buried his face in her shoulder she and everyone laughed. "I may be biased but he's also much cuter than Eric."

"Not as cute as you," Chloe's voice carried over the laughter.

"Well you have an obligation to say shit like that Mrs. Mitchell," Beca shot back, "you're married to me." Miles finally let out a giggle making her proudly smile. "See he thinks my cursing is funny."

"You won't think that when he says the F word in the grocery store," Chloe taunted.

Beca just good-naturedly rolled her eyes.

"Ok that's enough distraction by the lone peanut in the peanut gallery." The class began to quiet as Beca stepped back behind the podium. "Let's finish the last few minutes of the semester." She flipped to the last page of her lecture notes. "So about this final exam…"

Miles eyed the dry erase marker Beca had begun tapping against the podium while she talked. Without thinking much about it Chloe watched her wife hand it to him and she grinned. He was always very curious and he has recently started holding onto things like toys or stuffed animals with both hands and studying them a few minutes before ultimately putting whatever it was straight into his mouth.

So Chloe knew exactly what was going to happen in the next, especially since the cap just popped off and fell to the ground. The real question now was how long was it going to take Beca Mitchell to realize that.

It took a few minutes but as Miles twisted the marker in his hands, marking up his fingers and arms along the way, he also managed to put a couple of nice big red streaks along Beca's t-shirt. It was perfect, more perfect than Chloe could've ever imagined, because Beca was totally unaware.

When Miles dragged the marker across Beca's right boob in an effort to put the top of the marker in his mouth, Chloe couldn't help but let out a rather loud giggle, which made Beca's eyes shoot straight to hers in amusement. The two were so cute together that she couldn't help lifting her phone and capturing the moment.

When Miles lunged his little body forward and started banged the marker on the podium next to Beca's tapping fingers, Chloe and the class couldn't hold back her laughter anymore.

"Looks like we've got future drummer on our hands," Beca proudly stated shifting Miles in her arms and taking the marker away then setting it aside.

"Or maybe an artist," Chloe announced equally as loud causing the class to erupt in laughter again.

Noticing red all over Miles's hands, Beca animatedly asked, "What have you done to yourself?" Taking a tiny hand in hers, she couldn't help but laugh at the red smears along his fingers and arms. "It's ok, I do that all the time too, just ask them," she nodded to the class, "at least it's not permanent."

Miles just looked up at Beca and gave a giant yawn before dropping his head to her chest. Beca loved how he could go from happy and energetic to sweet and cuddly in a snap.

"Ok guys," Beca began, "as you can see, this little guy is tired." She gently swayed back and forth while running a hand along his back. "Any final thoughts, questions, or inappropriate jokes?" There was nothing but quiet in the classroom which she has learned to love. "Well then I'm done with you. Remember to make good choices and try to be productive musicians." The sound of bags being packed filled the room. "Also, remember, I still have office hours today for any last minute questions."

As the students started filing out of the room, Chloe stood and made her way down to the front.

"Looking sexy Dr. Mitchell," Chloe giggled stopping in front of the podium. When the classroom door clicked closed behind the last student and they were greeted with silence, she playfully asked, "What's a girl gotta do to get an A on this final?"

"You earned it this morning," Beca winked gathering her lecture notes. "Although I can make extra credit a thing if you think you need it."

Stepping around the podium, Chloe gave Beca's ass a light caress, "Tempting…"

"Careful Mrs. Mitchell."

"Come here Miles…" Chloe held out her hands as Miles looked up at her with heavy eyes. "Mom needs to pack her stuff up. After she's done we'll clean your hands," they both laughed, "then we'll eat lunch and then you can nap in her office."

Beca easily passed Miles over and all he did was give another big yawn and cuddle into Chloe. God he was so cute Beca thought for probably the hundredth time that day.

"I'm surprised he's not more fussy, he's totally off his normal schedule."

Chloe watched Beca shove a folder and the dry erase markers in the same leather bag she had given Beca as a birthday gift years ago while they were at the retreat.

"He's part Beale, it's not in his nature to be a pain in the ass," Beca slipped the bag's shoulder strap over her head and adjusted it across her.

"I hope you remember that when he's a teenager…"

Beca chuckled as she reached for her wife's hand and laced their fingers together. Tugging Chloe closer she gave a simple kiss and reveled in how after all these years it still lights up her life. Before starting towards the door, Chloe pulled her back and they shared another kiss, this one a little more heated then the last.

With major reluctance, Beca slowed things down, but not because she wanted to. The last thing she wanted was for them to get caught in any kind of inappropriate situation, even if they were only kissing.

"Sorry…" Chloe whispered resting her forehead against Beca's.

They were quiet for a few seconds and Beca realized that they hadn't talked about this morning since it happened. Not that they needed to talk about it, but usually they acknowledge it at some point especially if it had been particularly intense, which this morning definitely had been. And with how late Beca was running for work afterwards and how much they were laughing about her general rushed clumsiness as she stumbled putting her pants and shoes on she guesses now is better than nothing.

"Don't be," Beca's voice was equally as soft, "I've been thinking a lot about this morning and how great it was." Checking to make sure the classroom was still empty, she gave another kiss before. "Not that any of our other times weren't great, this morning was just different. We needed a morning like that for a while."

"It helped that you were already up early this morning."

"I couldn't sleep last night."

"More like you were working on music all night," Chloe grinned. "And we both know how worked up you get when you make good music."

Beca rubbed the back of her neck and let out a quiet chuckle, "That's your favorite sex theory."

"Only because you know I'm totally right and I totally benefit from how horny you get when things are going good." Chloe fought back the giddiness she was feeling, because yeah Beca still does that to her. "You started it with the way you were feeling me up as I drank my coffee," she lightly teased, "I had no idea you could cook eggs with one hand on my ass."

"I didn't hear you complaining," Beca quipped.

"You didn't give me a chance too. When you abandoned your food to lift me onto the counter so you could really kiss me and totally feel me up," Chloe playfully fanned herself, "I knew we were about to have a great morning."

"And we did." Beca stepped a little closer. "Totally worth not having breakfast."

"Absolutely…" After giving another quick kiss, Chloe whispered, "It was just wow." Beca gently smiled. "Especially that last time when we came together, I mean damn."

"Yeah, agreed…"

"You were incredible. Not that you aren't always…" Now it was Chloe's turn to blush. "Sorry, I just can't get over how good it was. Because it was really good."

They have always had a great sex life but sometimes they have really special moments where everything is heightened and this morning was one of those times. Chloe's not sure if it was because it happened so naturally or that they were both just needy, all she knows is that it was one magical morning. To love and be loved by Beca Mitchell is still something that totally flips Chloe's world upside down in the best possible ways.

"How about afterwards?" Beca's face flushed at the memory. "When I tried to get us to watch the sunrise together, but you had other plans." Chloe bit her lip. "I was almost late to work because of you."

"No, you refused to get up," Chloe all but laughed. "You hit the snooze button four times, then had to rush your shower and getting dressed."

"Worth it," Beca grinned, "I mean the ways your hands felt on my body, fuck."

"What can I say you left little to the imagination when I saw you after checking on Miles in his bedroom." Chloe felt her insides twisting in that familiar way. "You and your body were just asking me to touch it again."

Chloe had a flashback to Beca lying in their bed barely covered by the bedsheet. And by barely covered Chloe means like when she entered the bedroom she stopped in her tracks seeing Beca gazing out of the window with only one leg covered by the bedsheet and the rest pooling at Beca's waist. All Chloe wanted to do after seeing that was touch her love again. So she did just that and for what seemed like an eternity until she ventured under the bedsheet along with her fingers.

God it was so hot seeing Beca laying there smiling down at her through heavily aroused eyes while rapidly breathing. Chloe just couldn't help herself, she explored Beca's body like it was the first time she had ever done it. That was until Beca came with a groan and mumbled curse words while tightening the hold on Chloe's hand. After that she kissed her wife soundly and that's when things turned hot and heavy for a final time.

Chloe let out a soft giggle, "It was my pleasure really…" Beca just grinned. "I love being a mom and a wife so much, but I really need more time like that with you," she confessed. "That was great for my wellbeing."

"Me too…"

They kissed again, slow this time, carefully exploring each other's mouth.

"I love you…" Chloe whispered kind of breathless.

"I love you too." Beca winked. "Now come on, let's eat."

Chloe giggled as they moved towards the door, "You already did."

"So did you."

They started out of the room hand-in-hand, chatting quietly the whole way to Beca's office and throughout lunch. Even though Chloe had an extremely busy morning, Chloe still somehow managed to squeeze in a perfect lunch date for them. Beca swears sometimes she doesn't know how Chloe does it all, she seriously has the best wife ever.

Sitting back, Beca gazed at her wife who was checking on Miles as he slept. As much as Beca loves teaching, she is glad the semester was winding down. With a baby at home going back to work after Miles was born still made her feel really guilty and like she missed out on so much. So she's honestly looking forward to slowing down a bit and just be a Mom and a wife until it is time to go back to work.

They plan to keep this year's summer travel plans rather lowkey, spending most of it at her beach house in Malibu. Beca says 'most of it' because she does have a bit of a surprise for Chloe, an early Mother's Day gift, that she plans on surprising her wife with tonight once they're home. Chloe has been on this kick lately of wanting to visit Rocky Mountain National Park, to do some hiking and 'see the sights'. So Beca's booked them a stay at a super swanky cabin in the mountains just outside the park for the first two weeks of her summer break. She figures if they can't go hiking in Switzerland like they usually do at the start of every summer, that this will be the next best thing.

"Thanks for bringing lunch," Beca kindly said finishing off the last bite of her sandwich.

"Of course my love," setting her empty salad bowl aside, Chloe crossed her legs and grinned, "I saw you forgot the lunch I packed you this morning."

"Yeah well I was running late." Beca winked, making Chloe laugh.

Beca's gaze shifted to their beautiful son sleeping on the small sofa she and Chloe had squeezed into her office a couple years ago. He was Chloe in just about every way, even down to how his little face scrunches up when he sneezes or rubs his eye when he's tired.

"How was his checkup?" Beca tossed her napkin into the empty lunch bag.

"We have a healthy boy on our hands," Chloe smiled down at Miles. "Dr. Saenz says everything looks great and he's right where he should be." Glancing back to Beca she said, "He even laughed at the doctor today."

"He's such a happy baby, always smiling and laughing."

"That was until he getting a shot."

Rolling her chair forward, Beca took one of Chloe's hands in hers, "I'm sorry I wasn't there."

Chloe laced their fingers together. "It couldn't be helped," she ran a thumb along the underside of Beca's wrist. "The doctor's office was the one who changed his appointment last minute, not us."

"I know," Beca sighed, "but still I've always been there…"

"I know you have…"

Not only did Beca feel like she missed something important, but she also felt extremely guilty for leaving Chloe to handle everything alone. She knows she is just being paranoid because Chloe is an incredible mother who can somehow manage it all without breaking a sweat. Yet she likes being at each of Miles's checkups because it was a constant reassurance that he was still ok after being born six weeks early.

Four Months Ago, Christmas Day….

"Are my wife and son ok?" Beca asked the nurse in a hurry when the older woman stepped out of the emergency delivery room to hold the door open. She watched in worry as Chloe's bed was rolled out of the room by a couple of orderlies and followed closely behind by a new nurse she had never seen. "Chlo…"

As Beca took a couple steps toward her wife, a hand held her out of the way.

"Please, that's my wife," Beca shrugged the hand off and glared at the nurse, "I need to be with her."

"Bec, I'm ok…" Chloe's voice echoed down the hallway. "I promise…"

"But…"

The nurse standing in front of Beca tried to give a reassuring smile, "Everything is fine Professor Mitchell. We have another delivery coming in and need to prep the room. Since your wife is stable we're moving her to a private room where she'll be more comfortable."

Breathing a sigh of relief, Beca gave a wirily smile, "I only left for five minutes. First you guys take our kid away and then I'm not allowed inside her room for," she held up her hands, "ten minutes and I'm not even told why. I've been pacing out here ever since. How do you think I feel?"

"I understand and I'm sorry, but things are hectic. We had some routine post-delivery things to do."

Beca nervously twisted her wedding band, "And please call me Beca…Professor Mitchell makes me sound way more sophisticated than I really am. I mean I just threw up in a random hospital bathroom."

The nurse held back a laugh, "Usually new parents tend to throw up before the baby is born, not after."

"Yeah well, I do a lot of shit backwards, just ask my wife…"

Beca at least tried to look a little embarrassed as she rapidly spoke, but it was kind of hard when her nerves and emotions were running at an all-time high. This is one of the most eventful Christmas Days that Beca has had in her entire life because their son decided to make his arrival six weeks early. This hadn't been the type of delivery she or Chloe had envisioned, especially when the delivery room was filled with not only Chloe's regular doctor, but two other teams of people specializing in premature babies.

Miles had been whisked out of the delivery room forty minutes ago and the flurry of activity hadn't died down since. There were lots of words spoken by a lot of people and the only thing they knew was that Miles was being take to the NICU as a precaution and further evaluation. The thing that really worried Beca though were the hushed whispers about his weight and body temperature, but nobody outright told them directly.

Chloe at least got to hold him for a few minutes before he was rushed out of the room. For Beca the handful of minutes they were together for the first time as a family were pretty incredible. He had been so tiny laying on her wife's chest crying his little lungs out, but he was beautiful.

"Sorry, I just…" Beca relaxed her body, rolling her shoulders out. "This day has been crazy and my nerves are shot. Which is why I had to take a break and throw up in the bathroom." She cringed. "And you probably didn't need to know that."

The nurse finally let out a laugh, "First time mom?" Beca gave a brief nod. "Well I'm sure Mom and baby…"

"Miles," Beca quickly corrected, "Miles Thomas Mitchell."

"I'm sure Mom and Miles are doing fine," the nurse calmly smiled. "The doctor will give you an update on him as soon as he can."

Although she was relieved hearing that, Beca won't fully be at ease until she gets to see and hold Miles for herself.

"When can I see them?" Beca quietly asked, doing her best to keep her frustration at bay. "No offense but I need to be with them rather than standing in this hallway with you…" Pinching the bridge of her nose she tied to keep her tears at bay. "I need to see that our son is ok."

The nurse gave another soft reassuring smile, "Go and be with Mrs. Mitchell, help her get settled in her room." Beca looked at her hopefully. "Last I heard your son needed a little help maintaining his body temperature and they were double checking his glucose levels and giving him a full newborn checkup." Beca started to ask a question, but the nurse jumped back in, "That's all I know, the doctor will give you more info soon."

"Thanks," peering over the nurse's shoulder, Beca watched her wife's bed turn a corner. Looking back at the woman she tried to put on a smile. "Guess I better go after her."

The nurse gave a small nod, "That would be wise."

Beca started moving then stopped and turned, "How did you know I was Dr. Mitchell? I don't normally use that title outside of teaching."

At this the nurse lightly laughed, "And we don't normally have celebrities on this floor either, but one of the ER intake nurses is a fan and recognized you and your wife when you came in. They put it on her chart. I think it said something like, Chloe Mitchell, wife of Beca Mitchell, multi Grammy winning songwriter and producer, currently teaching at a local music college, has a PhD."

"Oh…" For the past few hours Beca had forgotten all about that side of her life. "Where will I find my wife?"

The nurse politely smiled, "Down the hall take the first left, when you get to the nurses station middle, take another left. She's in room 421 about halfway down the hallway."

"Thank you," Beca politely said.

Without looking back, Beca practically ran down the hallway making her adrenaline start flowing again. Here it is almost ten at night and she feels like she just downed three expressos and followed it up with a shot of Cuban coffee. She was fucking wired.

Coming to a stop just outside of room 421, Beca took a few seconds to run her fingers through her hair, but ultimately just gave up knowing it was no use. Looking down at the blue scrubs she was currently wearing she didn't even bother to try and un-wrinkle them because there was nothing she could do to make this unflattering ensemble look any better.

Steeling her nerves, Beca pushed the door open and found Chloe lying in bed as a nurse stood close by. There were no more frantic movements or hushed chatter, instead the room was very calm and almost silent.

When Chloe looked up from where the nurse was taking her blood pressure, Beca could tell her wife was relieved to see her.

"Hey," Beca whispered. "I umm, I'm sorry I wasn't with you the whole time. They wouldn't let me back in the room after I ran out to throw-up."

"Yeah, they told me." Chloe gave a tired smile. "I fought with them."

"You're ok, right?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." Chloe reassured. "Apparently all you missed was normal post-delivery stuff."

Beca gave a nod and after a beat of silence said, "I didn't know they were moving you until I saw them moving you."

"Me either," Chloe gave a tired yawned, "one minute they're doing a post-delivery exam and the next the doctor gave a nurse the ok to move me. It all happened so fast."

When the door clicked shut behind her, Beca moved further into the large room and over to the side of Chloe's bed, "The nurse down the hall told me they wanted to put us in a private room."

"That's what they told me too."

"I don't know why, that room we were in seemed pretty private to me."

"Normally you would've delivered in this room," the nurse standing on the other side of the bed said as she removed the blood pressure cuff from Chloe's arm. "But with how fast your labor was moving they put you in a temporary room closest to the OR as a precaution."

Taking Chloe's hand, Beca just nodded in understanding.

"She was also moved," the nurse looked directly at Beca, "because you two are high profile." Averting her eyes to Chloe's chart, the nurse began writing. "The doctor wanted your wife moved as quickly as possible to give you both a bit more privacy, if you know what I mean."

"I see," Beca gave Chloe's hand a small squeeze and it was returned. "So that's why we're down a corridor just off the nurses station?"

"Yes," the nurse set Chloe's chart aside, "someone is always there, they won't let anyone down here unless they are hospital staff or authorized by you."

"Thank you…" Beca tiredly said.

"Beca, what did I do wrong?" Chloe shakily asked.

Beca's attention snapped to her wife who looked on the verge of tears. From the corner of her eye she could see the nurse openly staring at them and it pissed her off. After shooting the nurse a glare the woman busied herself with checking a monitor and marking down a reading on Chloe's chart.

Beca immediately focused back on her wife, "Oh Chlo, nothing," she sat on the edge of the bed gripping their joined hands. "You didn't do anything wrong. I can't stress that enough. Please don't think any of this is your fault."

"But…" Chloe held back tears.

Again, Beca saw the nurse glance over at them than back at the chart in her hands.

Turning slightly, Beca curtly asked, "Can we have a few minutes alone please?" The nurse at least had the decency to look guilty when their eyes connected. "I know you're just doing your job, but…"

Beca watched as the nurse turned and began checking Chloe's IV stand next to the bed. It was very suspicious, almost like the young woman was sticking around to get all the good celebrity gossip so she could tell her friends and family about it later.

"Hey, I asked you a question…" The nurse stopped what she was doing and turned to look at Beca. "We haven't had a chance to process anything and I want five minutes alone with my wife. Is that possible?"

The nurse gave a nod, "I'll only be a few more minutes."

"Sure you will…" Beca rolled her eyes when the nurse shrugged. "Do you want my autograph too?"

"No, I'm just doing my job."

"Fine, if you're just going to stand there and pretend to work so you can gawk at us like you've never seen a celebrity before," Beca gritted out, "at least tell us what is going on with our son."

"The doctor should be in soon to give you an update."

"Why will nobody tell us what the hell is going on? I've been told very little and you can see my wife has been told even less. She's scared…I'm scared." Beca was beyond frustrated as her eyes followed the nurse around the room. "That other nurse told me stuff but I'm beginning to think that she fed me a line to calm me down."

Chloe remained unusually quiet yet still held onto Beca's hand like her life depended on it, which Beca totally gets.

"The doctor will be in soon," the nurse reiterated, "in the meantime I'm here to make sure Mrs. Mitchell is taken care of and stable from the move."

Using her free hand, Beca pinched the bridge of her nose. Letting out a frustrated breath she tried to speak evenly and not yell, "Look I'm not trying to be an asshole here, I'm trying to respect what everyone is doing. But…"

"Mrs. Mitchell," the nurse directed her attention to Chloe cutting Beca off, "are you in any pain, do you feel faint or nauseated?"

"I'm a bit achy but ok otherwise right now. I'm just worried and also really tired," Chloe softly spoke although Beca is fuming next to her, she can practically see the scowl without even looking. "Can I get something to drink?"

The nurse made a few notes on the chart before closing it. "Of course," she gave a warm smile, "I'll have someone bring you something for the pain as well as a drink as soon as I get back to the nurses station."

"Thank you…" Chloe tugged on her wife's hand trying to get Beca's attention. When grey-blue eyes met hers she gave a tired smile. "My love," she saw the tension leave Beca's features, "it's not worth getting angry with the people who are trying to help us."

Beca's shoulders slumped, "Yeah you're right." She turned to the nurse. "I'm sorry. I'm just stressed because I feel so helpless."

The nurse removed an extra blanket from a nearby cabinet and handed it to Beca, "I understand…Dr. Stiner and his NICU team are the best at the hospital. Your son is in great hands."

"But is he ok?" Beca was just about pleading.

The nurse looked slightly conflicted but ultimately dropped her guard, "I wish I had more info." She looked between the two almost panic-stricken parents. "I'm just the nurse assigned to handle your wife's room transfer."

Dropping down onto the small couch next to a window, Beca began franticly twisting her wedding band while staring down at the floor. Chloe recognized the action right away, Beca was nervous fidgeting. Typically, Beca taps her fingers against things when anxious or uncomfortable, but as soon as they got married the ring twisting was added to the mix.

"Who did you talk to earlier?" The nurse tentatively asked making Beca look up. "Was it an older woman with the light brown hair?" Beca just nodded. "That's Jamie, she works in the NICU. I'm sure her info was up to date."

"What did she tell you Bec?"

"Someone will be back soon to check on you," the nurse said before excusing herself.

Beca immediately stood and stepped back over to her wife's bedside the instant the door clicked shut. She looked down at the love of her life and almost broke seeing Chloe's strong façade crumble.

"Oh, Chlo…"

Chloe's eyes welled with tears, "Is he ok?"

"As far as I know, yes," Beca took Chloe's hand in hers again, careful to avoid the IV. "All I was told was that they are trying to keep him warm and checking his glucose levels."

Chloe's tears began to fall, "I keep running the day through my head trying to see what I did wrong, but nothing felt off." She tried to wipe her tears away, but Beca beat her too it. "I-I-I…" She tried to steady her breathing. "I was fine, we'd just ate and were settling in to watch some stupid Christmas movie. As soon as I sat down I got that sharp pain and started going into labor."

"You didn't do anything wrong," Beca emphasized.

"Before that I swear I was fine. I would have told you if something felt off."

"I know…" Beca gently brushed the pad of her thumbs along Chloe's cheeks. Tucking a couple strands of red hair behind an ear she said, "Don't blame yourself." Chloe looked so defeated and devastated and it broke her heart. "You were doing everything," she stressed, "right, the doctor said so at your last appointment. He wasn't concerned about you or the baby. Like everyone said in the delivery room, these things just happen."

Chloe rested her head back against the pillow and closed her eyes, "Bec, he was so tiny and they took him away so fast."

"I know…" Beca honestly didn't know what else to say to make this better because they were so in the dark about what was going on. "But he was crying so loud, that has to be good, right?"

Chloe took in a shaky breath, "But why did this have to happen to us?"

"It's just another challenge we have to overcome and we will." Chloe looked up and tears started to fall again and it broke Beca's heart. "We'll get through this together. I'm not going anywhere. Whatever he needs we'll do it, ok?"

"I shouldn't be so emotional."

Lifting her wife's hand, Beca she pressed a couple of kisses to the back, "You're allowed to be, you've been through a lot today, you delivered a baby," she said in awe. "You were an absolute rockstar. You kept calm and followed everything that was shouted at you and they shouted a lot." Chloe gave a tired smile. "I lost count of the number of people in the room asking you to do things." Leaning in closer, she softly pressed her forehead against her wife's. "You were utterly amazing," she whispered, "I don't think I've ever more proud of you then I have been today." She gave a tender kiss. "I love you so much."

"You really mean all that?"

"Every word…" Beca really couldn't find the right words for everything that Chloe deserved to hear but she was doing her best. "You delivered a baby on a day that we weren't prepared for," they both kind of chuckled as her eyes founds Chloe's again. "And you did it without letting people see how scared you really were. I mean, I knew you were strong before, but today you blew my mind."

"When they rushed him out of the room," Chloe used her hospital gown to dry her eyes, "I almost lost it, but you were there." She gave they joined hands a squeeze, pulling them towards her heart. "You were right by my side when I needed you the most." Beca nodded. "I couldn't have done this without you, you kept me from being a complete mess. Thank you."

"You don't need to thank me, I'll always be here."

Beca has been such a constant and strong presence in her life, full of so much love and support, that Chloe feels like she doesn't know how she would have handled today without Beca by her side. Everything happened so incredibly fast and just when she thought she couldn't handle it anymore all Beca had to do was take her hand or kiss her temple and say 'focus on me' or 'you can do it' to keep her going.

"But still," Chloe stated before Beca could respond, "I love you so much."

"I love you too…" Beca leaned over and gave a soft kiss. "I'm so, so proud of you," she whispered, "and we have a kid now."

"We do, we have a baby boy." Chloe allowed a smile to slip on her lips. "Miles Thomas Mitchell."

Picking names was the easy part, Miles Thomas for a boy and Claire Elizabeth, after her sister and Beca's mom for a girl. The hardest part was waiting for their baby to arrive to actually find out which name they would be using.

"I could have sworn we were having a girl," Beca laughed, tucking a strand of red hair behind an ear. "I need to get better at looking at ultrasounds."

Leaning into the touch, Chloe allowed herself to relax a little, "I told you it was a boy, I just had a feeling, but you didn't believe me," Beca just laughed. "I'm still glad we decided to wait to find out."

They had been so excited to finally start a family that once they found out Chloe was pregnant they didn't really care what they were having. So they went the traditional route and opted to be surprised. Chloe will admit that going home with those little ultrasound pictures after each checkup and scrutinizing them for days was half the fun.

"Me too…" Beca smiled. Seeing her wife yawn, she asked, "Can I get you anything?"

"Can you go track me down something to drink? I think the nurse forgot."

"Of course my love," Beca gave a quick kiss then made her way around the bed. "You want a cup of ice too?"

"Please," Chloe smiled. "Hey babe?" Beca stopped halfway to the door. "Where are the clothes you had on when we got here?" She asked in amusement, noting Beca's new attire for the first time. "Not that you're not sexy in those scrubs."

"Oh…" Beca looked down at her shirt then back up. "You know I actually have no idea. Probably should figure that out too." Chloe just tiredly laughed. "While they were prepping you for delivery they shoved me in a changing room and told me to put this little number on." She gestured down her body. "I was told it was a precaution in case you had to have an emergency C-section."

"You look hot."

"More like a hot mess…"

"That's me, I'm all sweaty and gross. I just gave birth."

Beca couldn't help but smile, "No, you've never been more beautiful and I've never been more in love with you."

"Charmer," Chloe laughed and she loved how for a brief few minutes she was able to forget about how worried she was.

Reaching for the door handle, Beca gave a wink, "I'll be back before you know it."

Closing her eyes, Chloe nodded, "Be nice to the nurses…"

The brief reprieve they had before Beca went to track down water was only temporary. Beca wasn't given any new information at the nurses station and it did nothing but grate on her nerves.

The only good thing was that after Beca got back, Chloe was able to doze for a little bit while Beca paced the room or scribbled music in her notebook. Beca was doing a pretty good job of keeping it together for the both of them, but there were times when the brave face slipped and Beca looked just about as helpless as Chloe felt.

It felt like an eternity, but when the NICU doctor and the nurse Beca had spoken with earlier showed up, they finally got all the answers they were waiting for.

"Need me to explain anything again?" Dr. Stiner asked looking between the couple.

Dr. Stiner had just given them a complete rundown of what happened from the moment Miles left the delivery room until now. The doctor had been all smiles and gave what seemed like great news amongst the blur of medical jargon. Chloe desperately tried to follow along to everything she was told, but the minute she heard that Miles was safe and healthy, she didn't really focus on much else. Beca on the other hand had asked a few questions here and there, mainly for clarification, but for the most part simply listened and keep squeezing her hand and giving her smiles of reassurance.

"So, he's ok, right?" Chloe asked for what felt like the fifth time in the span of ten minutes.

"Yes, Mrs. Mitchell…" Dr. Stiner calmly replied with a warm smile. "He's doing great. His vital signs look good, his lungs are clear, he's breathing on his own, and his oxygen levels are normal. However, we do have him on oxygen just as a precaution."

"Will he be moved to the regular nursery?" Beca asked the question.

"No, we plan on keeping him in the NICU until we discharge him," Dr. Stiner said with ease.

"Ok…" Beca's voice wobbled.

"Like I said before, we've had a bit of trouble keeping his temperature stable in the beginning, but it's improving. I think it's mainly due to the stress of birth and his weight," Dr. Stiner said with a bit of caution. "The NICU is the best place for him so he can be monitored constantly and we can make any changes if needed."

"Did you do that Apgar test or whatever it's called?" Beca asked accusingly then sucked in a gulp of air when everyone looked at her. "Sorry that came off very rude." Feeling guilty, she shrunk down a little as Chloe patted her hand gently. "I read too much."

Dr. Stiner gave an easy smile, "Yes, we did." Beca opened her mouth but quickly shut it. "He's in the normal range if that's what you were going to ask next."

Chloe watched her wife give a curt head nod. Beca really had read too many books and online articles these last few months. She found it cute how into the whole baby thing Beca had gotten the closer her due date approached, but that's not how Beca is coming off right now.

"He's doing great," Dr. Stiner reiterated, "he responds to everything any typical newborn would, he's just little, that's all."

Chloe gave the doctor an apologetic smile, "I'm so glad to hear right now."

"I feel like there is a but coming," Beca quieted when Chloe tugged on her hand. She looked down and nodded before turning back at the doctor and nurse. "Sorry, please continue."

"Right now he weighs right around five pounds," Dr. Stiner looked between the couple. "So, we'll be watching him to see that he can gain and maintain weight normally." The couple looked worried. "To help with that I've put him on a more frequent feeding schedule."

Chloe calmly asked, "How long before we can take him home?"

Dr. Stiner placed his hands in his coat pockets, "We'll take it day by day. Progress is the key."

Beca's shoulders slumped in defeat but ultimately she knew this was what is best for their son and there was no reason to fight it.

"We'll do whatever you say, we just want him healthy, "looking down at her wife, Beca was given a warm and reassuring smile that made her feel ten times better.

"There have been no complications so far." Dr. Stiner reassured. "Like I said before, other than being small, he's behaving just like any other newborn."

"We're so glad to hear that," Chloe gripped Beca's hand. "When can we see him?"

"The nurse can take you as soon as we're done here," Dr. Stiner simply stated. "If you're up for it Mrs. Mitchell," he kindly looked at Chloe, "we would like you to start breastfeeding as soon as possible. But if you would rather wait until you're rested we can bottle feed him until you're ready."

Chloe pushed herself up in bed a little, "I'd like to try tonight."

"Great," Dr. Stiner easily replied with a warm smile. "I also see no reason to limit how often you can see him or hold him. We encourage you both to do it as much as you can."

Beca looked down at Chloe who looked about ready to jump out of bed and run down the hall right now.

"Thank you…"

"You both are welcome," Dr. Stiner looked over at the nurse who jotted a few things down on the chart. "I know it's late and again I apologize for not getting here sooner. With the second emergency coming in and it being Christmas Day, you can imagine things are a bit more hectic then usual."

"We understand," Beca answered.

"Well, when you're ready, Nurse Jamie will take you to your son."

Chloe watched the doctor step over to the nurse and give a few whispered instructions before giving them a final goodbye and a reassurance to check in with them in the morning before exiting the room.

A little while later, Beca was pushing Chloe's wheelchair down the hallway as they followed behind the nurse. Chloe hated being in a wheelchair, but Beca and the nurse had both insisted and ensured her that she would be grateful for it in the long run.

"I could get used to being pushed around like this by you," Chloe joked as the nurse held the door for them. "Best looking chauffeur in town."

"Shut it Mrs. Mitchell…" Beca dropped a kiss to her wife's head wearing a soft smile as Chloe laughed. Eyeing the nurse walking beside them, she pleaded, "Please tell her that she's ruining my street cred."

"When did you have street cred?" Chloe teased tugging at a set of Beca's fingertips that were gripping the wheelchair handles.

Jamie held back a laugh, "It's nice seeing a celebrity be a real person."

Chloe knows how much Beca hates being called a celebrity. Instead Beca has solely been focusing on teaching and being a wife and, as of today, a mom, and has tried to stay out of the spotlight. So needless to say when they encounter fans, which Beca still has legions of, Beca does her best to continue to be just as polite and charming as she was at the height of the media frenzy ten years ago.

Although Chloe will admit that ever since Beca stepped away from mainstream music that their life has been considerably less hectic. She loves how normal their life is now, although attending random award shows and movie premieres are always fun 'perks' of being married to someone as talented as Beca Mitchell.

"In my world, my wife is my celebrity," looking over at the nurse, Beca winked, "I just follow her around like a lost puppy."

Chloe snorted out a laugh, "Shut up Bec."

"Well it's true, everybody says so…"

They continued the rest of the way in silence until they came to a stop next to the nurses station in the NICU.

They watched Jamie discuss a few things with the nurse sitting behind the counter. Chloe tried to listen but they were talking too fast and in almost a code of medical jargon that she wasn't even going to try and understand. Towards the end of the conversation Jamie did tell them that, at the request of Dr. Stiner, Miles had one of the family rooms to give them a bit more privacy.

Chloe looked up at Beca who just lovingly smiled down at her. Normally they would object to any kind of special treatment, but in this case they weren't going to fight it. Even though they had arrived relatively quietly an ER nurse had easily recognized Beca and if a random nurse knows they are here then it's only a matter of time that other people will know soon too.

"Miles is just down here…" Jamie led them past the nurses station to a door in the middle of the hallway. "A few things, you can close the door for extra privacy if you need it and if you need one of us for anything just press one of the call buttons inside."

As Chloe sat in front of Miles's room, she noted that the adrenaline she had been riding high on for most of the night was starting to wear off and she realized just how tired she was. As Beca pushed her wheelchair into the room and helped her stand, she really noticed all the aches and pains from birth she had read so much about.

As they ventured further into the room they got their first glimpse of their son in almost four hours.

"The cot Miles is in is heated to help keep him warm…" Jamie explained softly before they stepped closer. "You'll also see sensors attached to him so we can monitor his heartrate, oxygen levels, and breathing. They're all pretty standard so nothing to be alarmed about. Like Dr. Stiner said," she gave a reassuring smile, "he has been doing great since he got here."

"What's the nurse doing?" Beca finally spoke in what felt like forever as she gripped her wife's hand.

Jamie looked over her shoulder then back at the couple, "Normal rounds. Various doctors and nurses will float in and out to check on him at all times of the day and night." Looking between them, she asked, "Ready to see him?"

"Yeah, more than ever," Beca said and Chloe just nodded.

The nurse hovering close by stepped away as Beca helped her wife over to Miles. After making sure Chloe was ok, Beca stepped around to the other side of the cot to get a better view. As promised he had a few things attached to him and she noticed the screen above his head bouncing around like one of the songs on her studio's playback laptop.

He was just so tiny but fuck he was perfect and in an instant Beca knew that her life had just come full circle.

"Bec, he's got a little hat on," Chloe said through tears.

"Yeah," Beca chuckled, "but we've got cooler looking ones at home."

"Can you bring one tomorrow?"

"Yeah…" Beca just smiled through tears.

"He looks like a Miles."

"He does."

"He's beautiful, he's…" Chloe furiously swiped at the tears running down her cheeks. "Sorry, I just…" Beca's eyes connected with hers and they shared a silent moment. "I'm so glad he's ok." Looking over to Jamie, she asked, "He's ok, right?"

"He is," Jamie quietly spoke.

Lifting her hand, Beca moved it closer to run a finger along his cheek. She assumed she was allowed to touch him, no one was stopping her, but she didn't really care to ask either. His skin was smooth and warm and the second Beca repeated the action, Miles kicked his legs and stretched his arms a little bit.

"Hey little guy," Beca whispered.

"He's tiny."

Beca tried to fight the tears, especially in front of people she didn't know, but it was no use, just seeing her son and looking across and seeing her wife looking down in awe left her a crying mess.

"We weren't expecting you today," Beca dried her eyes with the back of her hand, "but your Mom and I," she traced his little hand with her finger, "we're glad you're here."

When Miles's hand attached to her finger, Beca's heart melted feeling the light grip he had on it. Taking everything in again, she silently counted his fingers and toes just to make sure he had ten of each. Then there was his nose, it had the same slope and stye of Chloe's, fuck he was totally going to be a boy version of her wife and she was going to be so whipped.

Other than being small, he was breathing on his own, his heart rate seemed strong, and he looked just like any other newborn. As he stretched and moved around doing general baby things, Beca couldn't take her eyes off of him. It felt like a fucking eternity sitting in the hospital room waiting for this moment but it was all worth it.

"Would one of you like to hold him?" Jamie softly asked.

Beca tore her eyes away from Miles and regarded her wife, who seemed to not have heard a single word.

"Chlo, my love…" When Chloe looked up, Beca saw the emotion in Chloe's eyes and it was everything she was feeling too. "Jamie wants to know if you want to hold him."

Chloe simply nodded, before shifting her attention back down to Miles.

Turning to the nurse, Beca quietly answered, "We'd love that."

Jamie stepped closer, "Would you like me to show you how to pick him up?" She kindly asked after a beat of silence. "I know it looks daunting with all the wires."

Beca tentatively nodded as Chloe moved to stand beside her, "If you don't mind."

"I don't…" Jamie quickly took Chloe's vacated spot. "First you want to make sure none of the leads can get snagged on anything or tangled up in your hands." She showed them how to carefully move them to the side. "Don't worry they're long enough that you won't have to stretch them when you sit down."

"What about the foot thing?" Chloe asked.

"That's just a temperature sensor, if it comes off, it's ok. Just slip it back on once you're settled."

"Got it," Beca said.

"Finally slip one of your hands under his head and neck and the other under his butt to help support his back." Both parents nodded. "Then when you're ready, slowly lift him up and bring him towards your body."

"Seems simple enough," Chloe whispered running a hand along her wife's back. "Just take it slow."

"Exactly," Jamie smiled. "Get him safely against you first, then you can move around."

Beca let out a nervous breath, "Got it."

"Now," Jamie gently laid Miles back down, "which one of you gets the honors?" The couple looked at each other. "I can hand him over to either one of you if you want me to."

Chloe looked down and smiled seeing Miles squirm around and begin to cry. He had been close to dosing off when Jamie picked him up, but now he seemed a bit more alert. She hated that he was crying, but she was so glad to hear it after the day they had.

"Chlo, you want to go first?" Beca quietly asked as blue eyes shifted from their son to meet hers. "I know you want to try and feed him."

Despite it being an extremely chaotic moment, Chloe had briefly gotten to hold him right after he was born. It had been one of the most incredible moments of her life, one minute she had been pushing and the next Miles was there crying against her chest.

So as desperately as Chloe wants to hold him again, she knows Beca needs it more.

"I think it should be you…" When Beca started to protest, Chloe laced a set of their fingers together. "You haven't gotten to yet."

"But you only held him for a couple minutes earlier."

Giving their joined hands a gentle squeeze, Chloe smiled, "I'll be right beside you the whole time."

Chloe watched as Beca internally struggled with what to do as Beca quickly glanced back and forth between her and their crying son. Thankfully that struggle was short lived.

"Ok…"

"Great," Jamie warmly said, "How about I stand beside you and guide you through the steps."

"Ok…" Beca dropped her and Chloe's joined hands and moved to stand next to Jamie. "Ok, I'm ready."

"On second thought," Jamie stopped Beca before she was able to put her hands in place, "I think it would be good for you and him to do a bit of skin-to-skin contact."

"Yeah that's like a thing new parents do, right?"

"Yes," Jamie and Chloe both lightly laughed.

"It'll be good for you babe," Chloe placed her hand on Miles's chest and it seemed to help quiet him just a little. "It'll help the two of you bond."

"Then I'll do it," Beca said without hesitation.

"Good," Chloe shuffled over and kissed a cheek.

Stepping over to a nearby cabinet, Jamie pulled out a clean hospital gown before instructing Beca how to wear it. After handing it over, she and the other nurse stepped out of the room to give Beca time to change.

"Babe," Chloe laughed seeing her wife get tangled up in her shirt, "slow down."

"I'm just really nervous," Beca mumbled pulling the shirt off with a huff and tossing it on a chair. "I'm about to hold our kid for the first time."

Chloe placed a gentle hand on Beca's arm, "Hey look at me," Beca's movements stilled, "you're gonna do great." Cupping her love's face she gave a soft kiss. "You're already the best Mom that I know."

The tenseness left Beca's body, "You really think so?" She slid her arms through the hospital gown. "I mean I've never been a Mom before, I literally have no idea what I'm doing."

"Here let me me…" Stopping shaking hands, Chloe finished snapping the buttons at the top of Beca's hospital gown. "There," she smoothed out the fabric with her fingertips, "and you know exactly what to do." Beca gave her an anxious smile. "I know how much you love and care about me, I know that will translate to you being a great Mom for our son."

"Thanks…"

A light knock sounded through the room making both of them glance towards the door. The door slowly opened and Jamie stepped back in with a smile.

"Are you ready Professor Mitchell," Jamie was shot a playful glare, "sorry I mean Beca. Mrs. Mitchell," she looked at Chloe, "why don't you pick him up and hand him over, it'll be good practice."

All Chloe did was nod and listen as Jamie slowly went over the steps with her again. Before she knew it she was holding Miles securely in her arms. She could feel his little chest rising and falling against hers and it made her feel whole again. Suddenly she forgot all about how tired and achy she was because the tiny newborn in her arms made all that vanish.

Chloe's parents would never have approved of any of this. Hell they never approved of any of her relationships or life choices when they were alive, so there is no doubt that they definitely wouldn't have approved of the love she and Beca share for each other or the family they now have. Except she doesn't care about any of that anymore because all the things she desperately wanted growing up she now has. She found her forever person and she is going to do everything with Miles that her family never did with her or her sister. But most importantly, Miles will know every day just how much he is loved.

"When you're ready," Jamie's voice broke through the quietness, "hand him over just like you picked him up."

"Ok little guy…" Chloe stepped closer to Beca who was standing near a chair. "Ready to meet your other Mom? I know she loves you so much already." Pressing a soft kiss to the side of his head, she held onto Miles for a few extra seconds before asking, "Ready Bec?"

"Yeah," Beca quickly wiped her sweaty hands along the hospital gown. "Yeah, I think so."

"Ok here we go."

Chloe eased Miles into Beca's waiting arms just as instructed making sure that his head and neck where fully supported. For their first time doing it, it wasn't perfect, but they managed with a few chuckles. As she stepped back she made sure the wires didn't get tangled and made a quick adjustment to his hat. After that she noted how Beca cautiously shifted Miles in her arms to make sure he was safe and secure without even being reminded.

Watching the way Beca tenderly cradled their son made Chloe smile. Her wife seemed so happy and so in awe as she stood there gazing down at the tiny baby boy with a loving smile on her lips.

"Am I doing it right?" Beca finally asked looking up and connecting eyes with her wife.

The only other time Chloe had ever seen Beca hold a baby was years ago after Jesse and Aubrey had the twins. Back them Beca had been really scared and slightly awkward but the Beca standing here now was the total opposite. Beca was confident and looked entirely at ease holding their son.

"Yeah," reaching out Chloe dried the tears on her cheeks, "you're doing great."

"Mrs. Mitchell, let me help you sit down…" Jamie gave a warm smile as she helped Chloe ease into a nearby chair and covered Chloe's legs with an extra blanket. "I'll give you some time alone now as a family. Make sure you keep him warm and continue supporting his head. Remember, hit the call button if you need anything."

"Oh this guy is getting all kinds of snuggles tonight," Beca teased making everyone laugh. "We're not going anywhere."

Before stepping away, Jamie added, "The night nurse will be back when it's time to feed him, she'll help you get started."

Chloe tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "Thank you." Jamie then nodded and quietly shut the door behind her with a soft click . Glancing back at Beca, she just smiled, "I guess it's just us now?"

"Yep, just you, me, and our adorable kid." Beca shifted her eyes down to the tiny human in her arms wrapped in a blanket. "He came earlier than expected, so I guess there's no turning back."

"I can't believe how real he is."

Beca made sure that Miles was securely against her as she attempted to sit down, but she stopped halfway and immediately stood, which garnered a little laugh out of Chloe. Steeling her nerves she just went for it and sat down normally.

"Real smooth, Bec," Chloe joked.

Relaxing a bit, Beca slid back in the chair, "Well, I don't want to break him…"

Chloe tiredly chuckled, "You won't, you wouldn't let anything happen to him or me." Shifting in her seat, she grimaced a bit and it made Beca look at her in alarm. "I'm ok, the day is catching up to me, everything is sore and I'm really tired."

"Want me to take you back to your room or track down the nurse to get you something for the pain?" Beca asked calmly although she was internally freaking out. She didn't let it show just how concerned she was, but Chloe looked completely drained and utterly exhausted. "I know you want to be here to look after him, but we," she gestured down to Miles, "need you to look after yourself too."

"I'll be ok, I want to stay…" Chloe shifted uncomfortably in her seat so she could peer down at Miles. "I know they said they can bottle feed him until I am more rested, but feel like I need to do it tonight." Beca nodded. "I want to be here, I can't leave him now."

Beca craned her neck to deliver a soft kiss, "I understand."

Beca knows that there was nothing she could say right now to convince Chloe to go back to her room and rest. Chloe likely intends to stay by Miles's side all night, even sleeping in a chair if she has too. And Beca gets it, she really does, but she's also really worried Chloe will overdo it.

"You'll tell me if you need to go back to your room, right?" Beca quietly asked.

Chloe tore her eyes away from Miles, "Yeah, of course."

Miles wiggled around in Beca's arms and started to get a little fussy.

"You think he's cold?" Beca asked in alarm as Miles let out a little louder cry. "Maybe a diaper change?"

"Definitely cold." Chloe motioned to the blanket draped over her legs. "It's freezing in here."

"Should I put him back in his bed? It was warm, I think."

"Maybe…"

"Better yet."

Chloe watched Beca try her best to undo the top couple of buttons on the hospital gown one handed but epically fail.

"You trying to give me a show Dr. Mitchell?" Chloe teased before lightly pushing Beca's hand away.

"You wish, I left my bra on," Beca chucked.

"Well damn…" After the first couple snap buttons came undone Chloe laughed as she pushed the fabric open wider. "You would have thought that after years of taking off my bra that you could have undone a few simple snap buttons one handed."

"You're ridiculous sometimes, I swear," Beca teased.

"You love me…"

"More than anything…" Gently lifting Miles, Beca laid his bare chest against hers. "I'm doing that skin-to-skin thing the nurse talked about," she fidgeted with the blanket Miles had been wrapped in, trying to cover him the best she could. "So hopefully this helps."

Miles's head was carefully tucked under Beca's chin and Chloe watched him immediately give a big yawn through the crying. He was so cute, Chloe just couldn't stand it.

Reclining in the chair, Beca got a little more comfortable and Chloe smiled at both of her loves. Leaning over, she placed a soft kiss on Beca's lips then to the side of Miles's head. She couldn't believe it, this was her family now.

"It's ok dude," Beca began running her hand lightly up and down his back. "Come on now, none of this crying mess." She sent a smile in Chloe's direction as she talked and was given a loving one in return. "We're all good now, I'm here and we're cuddling just like I promised…"

After a couple minutes of her quietly talking in soothing tones, Miles began to settle down.

"I think you were right, he was cold."

"Told ya…"

"Take a picture," Beca whispered, "my phone is in my pocket."

As Chloe reached for the phone, Miles protested just a little when Beca moved and it made them both laugh. Lifting up the phone, Chloe swiped open the camera and was just focusing when Beca's hand filled the frame making her look up.

"You need to be in this too," Beca softly said, "this will be our first family photo."

Holding the phone out, Chloe propped her cheek to rest on Beca's shoulder and made sure everyone was in view before snapping their first family picture. They both looked really tired, but their smiles said how happy they were. Miles on the other hand looked just about ready to go back to sleep.

"It's perfect," Beca grinned after being shown the finished product. "Once we get this little guy home, you can get your real camera gear out and take the official family pictures."

"Can I send it to everyone?"

"Yeah of course, I'm sure they're dying for an update." Beca yawned. "Although I'm a little surprised Aubrey hasn't called twenty times in the last hour."

"Well it is late, I bet they're all asleep, I'm sure the twins had them up super early since it's Christmas Day."

"That will be us soon."

Chloe looked up from the phone with a grin, "I can't wait."

"Me either…"

Beca watched Chloe navigate through her phone to the group text she had been using to keep everyone updated. The message Chloe included along with the picture was pretty simple and introduced everyone to Miles Thomas Mitchell and explained how everyone could visit Miles tomorrow.

The only thing that really tugs at Beca's heartstrings is the fact that her mom isn't one of the people on the receiving end of that text. Granted she knows her mom is here with them, but it still stings a little.

"Babe, you ok?" Chloe asked seeing the switch in Beca's demeanor as she locked the phone and set it aside. The day had been so long and stressful that she's surprised Beca hadn't broken down about something sooner. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm good…"

"Tell me."

Beca sucked in a breath and squeezed her eyes shut, "I'm thinking about my mom," she said after a couple of minutes. "Mainly how she'll never get to meet her grandson" She cracked her eyes open to find her wife looking at her in understanding. "We have a kid, that's huge, it's a huge moment for us." She sat up a little straighter. "Sorry, it just kinda hit me that she's not here. I should be happy right now, I'm holding Miles"

Beca harshly swiped at her eyes with her free hand.

Catching the hand, Chloe gave it kiss, "It's ok to be upset."

"I know…"

"I know she's proud of you," Chloe quietly added. "And she has to know she has the most handsome grandson ever." Beca smiled at that. "He's one good looking kid."

"Well his Mom is beautiful, so he should be." Beca grinned. "Seriously, I had nothing to do with this," she tilted her head to try and checked on their son, "he's all you gorgeous."

Dropping Beca's hand, Chloe just laughed, "I love you."

Beca quickly wiped away the remaining stray tears. She needed to focus on the good things because she has a lot to be thankful for right now.

"So," Beca pressed a kiss to the top of Miles's head, "how many night nurses do you think have slipped him their numbers already? I'm going with at least three."

Chloe took another quick picture, "Your Mom thinks she's so funny."

"Because I am funny, my wit and charm landed you over a decade ago." Chloe just rolled her eyes. "Your other Mom loves me dude," Beca playfully whispered, "I promise."

"I do love you," Chloe grinned as Beca gave her another quick kiss.

They were quiet after that and Beca loved how she was able to simply hold her son and just be with her family. She always envisioned this day going drastically different, but Miles is here now and regardless of how that happened doesn't really matter anymore.

There was no doubt that Miles was asleep, he hadn't made a sound in probably fifteen minutes, but Beca could feel his little chest rising and falling with each breath he took. It's weird how it didn't take more than one look for her to instantly love him. It's the kind of love that just sprung up out of nowhere and it makes her feel really good, it gives her another purpose in life.

"Chlo, he's just…"

Beca found herself at a loss for words, because when she looked over she found her wife with her head back and eyes closed, but one of her fingers was being held in Miles's little grasp. Chloe was exhausted but even in a light sleep her wife wasn't going miss a single minute of being with their son.

Chloe's eyes fluttered opened a few seconds later and she sleepily smiled, "What's up?"

"I'm sorry I woke you…"

Their eyes met and Beca felt everything in that tired yet grateful and loving look Chloe was giving her.

"That's ok."

"It's just, he's perfect," Beca said when Chloe gave her another drowsy smile. "He's little but he's so perfect."

"He is," Chloe pressed a small kiss to her wife's shoulder. "I love you."

"I love you too."

"You want to hold him? I've had him for," Beca checked her watch, "wow almost an hour." She could seriously spend all night holding him, she had no idea how time slipped away so fast. "I know you want to."

"I don't want to take him away from you."

"Come on, this isn't up for debate, get comfortable Mrs. Mitchell."

Beca carefully stood, which was a whole lot easier than sitting down in her opinion.

"You want to do the skin-to-skin thing too?" Beca asked.

"Yeah," Chloe quickly undid the top of her own hospital gown.

Beca eased a mildly protesting Miles into Chloe's waiting arms. As if on cue Beca watched Chloe handle him with an ease and confidence of someone who had been waiting their entire life for this. Chloe was such a natural mother and their son was going to be so lucky to have her.

"I'm so in love…" Chloe whispered after Miles was safely against her and his cries started to quiet. "I can't believe I'm a Mom now."

Kneeling down, Beca softly gave a kiss and helped adjust Chloe's hospital gown and blanket so that Miles wouldn't get cold.

"You're gonna be the best Mom ever…"

Just as Beca was about to add something a bit more profound, the nurse from earlier poked her head into the room.

"Sorry to interrupt," the young nurse stepped inside and came to a stop near the couple.

"It's ok," Beca quickly stood. "Is everything ok?"

"Yes, I'm Ashely. I'll be your son's primary overnight nurse." Ashley gave an awkward wave. "I started my shift earlier, but Jamie had things covered so I didn't get a chance to introduce myself. I'm just doing my usual rounds to check on my littlest patients. I didn't mean to disturb you, I knocked but got no answer."

"It's ok," Chloe tiredly smiled.

"Where's Jamie?" Beca curtly asked eyeing the nurse.

Considering how late it was, the young woman was very chipper and Chloe knows Beca isn't intentionally trying to be a pain, but it's coming off that way because Beca is extremely tired right now.

"Beca be nice…" Chloe shot her wife a glare as she tried to hold back her amusement.

"Jamie will be back tomorrow," Ashley reassured.

"Oh well hello then," Beca straightened a little crossing her arms. "The little guy is Miles and holding him is my super human of a wife, Chloe. And I'm…"

"Beca Mitchell…" Ashley kindly spoke.

Although Beca's name was said very tentatively, it's safe to say that Ashley knows exactly who Beca is. Chloe sees this kind of interaction a lot and in the most random places. At least Ashley is remaining professional, just like the rest of the hospital staff they have interacted with so far.

"Yes, I'm that Beca Mitchell…"

Looking starstruck at the confirmation, Ashley shuffled around a little bit before quickly snapping out of it and composing herself. It actually made Beca look down at her wife and roll her eyes in amusement.

"Although," Beca casually began, "it's still crazy people recognize me. Especially in the middle of the night in a fucking hospital. I mean I don't exactly have my shit together right now or," she quickly snapped the buttons closed on her hospital gown, "look presentable."

This made Chloe and Ashley laugh, for Ashley it was a fan meeting a celebrity, but for Chloe it was her wife being extremely cute. Years ago, an interaction like this would have scared Beca, but now Beca just rolls with it. She will admit, the version of Beca that she sees on a daily basis is her favorite version of Beca Mitchell, but celebrity Beca Mitchell still holds a special place in her heart. Celebrity Beca can be just so damn charming and nice to her fans even when Beca clearly wants to be left alone and nobody really tell the difference except for her.

"I grew up listening to your music before everyone knew you as Beca Mitchell," Ashley confessed. "And even though I'm a huge fan, in here I'm just your son's nurse." She made sure to address both Chloe and Beca while speaking. "I'll do my best to help protect your family's privacy and give Miles the best care so we can get him home…"

The thoughtfulness made Beca drop her guard, "Thank you. It's been a stressful day and I can't tell you how glad we are," she looked down at Chloe and her son, "to hear you say that."

"Yeah, thank you," Chloe tiredly smiled.

"Absolutely…" Ashley stepped over to pick up Miles's chart. After quickly reading it over and checking some of the nearby monitors, she asked, "Looks like Dr. Stiner wants to start breastfeeding tonight, are you up for it?"

"I am," Chloe replied behind a yawn. "I'm ready whenever it's time."

"The notes show it's almost time," Ashley flipped through the remaining pages of the chart then signed off on the last page before putting it back down. Just as she stepped closer, Miles let out a cry, "Looks like he's awake."

"Yeah," Chloe chuckled.

Pocketing her pen, Ashley returned the smile, "That makes things easier."

"This will be my first time feeding him, anything I should know?"

Ashley gave a reassuring smile, "Don't worry, I'll explain everything. Let me run and grab a few things and when I get back I'll walk you through the steps."

"Thank you," Beca and Chloe said at the same time.

"You're welcome."

"Oh wait," Beca snapped her fingers, "when do you do the whole footprint thing?" Ashley stopped at the door and turned wearing a questioning look. "You know the thing where they put ink on his foot and stamp it on a piece of paper."

Ashley moved back over to Miles's chart and flipped through the pages until she found what she was looking for.

Handing the chart over, Ashley pointed to the bottom of the page, "Looks like they did it once he was stable in here." Beca frowned. "Is something wrong?"

Beca's shoulders slumped, "I was hoping to be here when they did it. I wanted to have a copy for us," she smiled down at Chloe as Miles started to cry a little louder, "I wanted to get it framed to hang on a wall at home. So we can remember how little his feet were."

"Bec, that's really sweet," Chloe gushed. "I'm sure we have one of those kits to press his hands and feet into to make clay molds, we can bring it in the next couple of days." Beca nodded. "If not we can buy one."

"We can redo it if you want," Ashely quietly interrupted and Beca's face lit up. "Let me track down the ink and we can put his feet and hand prints on anything you want."

"That would be amazing, thank you," Beca grinned.

Ashley nodded with a smile, "Sure thing, I'll be back soon."

Turning back on her wife, Beca asked, "We're totally going to be those parents who do all those cutesy things with their kid, aren't we?"

"I'm afraid so," Chloe ran a couple fingers over Miles's little foot. "I already make you do cutesy couples things with me. I've been preparing you for years."

"Something tells me there's even more obnoxious things you have planned now that we have a baby."

Chloe just lightly laughed, "Guess you're going to have to wait and see."

As always, thanks for reading!

Liked it, loved it or hated it? I want to know your thoughts, so drop me a review or shoot me a PM and let me know what you think. Thank you guys so much for all the love this fic continues to get even after all this time. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Part 1 of the Epilogue.

I always said an epilogue would happen, so I hope it was worth the wait and you enjoued it and I did these two justice!

Now, I have Part 2 of the Epilogue written, it mainly centers around a flashback to their engagement and finishing out the present day scenes. It mainly comes from Beca's POV, as this one was more Chloe centric, but as always it needs a major overhall before I can post it. So it'll be a little while before you see it, but I can tell you, it will be another long one and I think it ends out this fic and this world perfectly. I won't give an estimated timeline of when you will see it because my work is about to get crazy and I would just miss my self imposed deadline anyway, so just stay tuned and know that it's on the way.

Until next time...(Epilogue Part 2 is coming!)
